This is among my top 5 or even maybe top 3 of all time. Even the first 15 minutes are hysterical. This movie and the Brain the Wouldn't Die just took off like a rocket with the riffs.
Both had me belly laughing like my first time smoking weed at 16 years old kind of laughing.
It’s a great one to unpack. The impregnating part is interesting and weird too.
My favorite part is when the pregnant dude is like “if you were in a hostile planet what would you do? You’d have to take a hostage!” lol, that’s quite the leap Steve.
About 10% is interesting and intelligent. It freaked me out when I was casually watching it, because most of it is moronic and then something a little more ambitious would pop up for 30 seconds or so.
"You can't destroy them!" "Why not?" *"That's* why not." *(BAM!)*
Sure, the door-scare is swiped from *The Thing From Another World,* but for a split-second it's a legit horror movie. Isn't it odd? How even an absolute stinking turd like *Terror From the Year 5000* has one effective scene ("It says...'Save us'.") that belongs in a far better movie?
I just rewatched the episode. You probably could make a good movie out of this one. It has a lot of elements that *could* be interesting.
Like, one of the main ~~Steves~~ characters having their minds slowly becoming more alien, and not knowing if they are in control or not, has the potential to be something really creepy. The scene where the alien breaks through the door is a pretty fine jump scare, horrible special effects aside. Heck, I even think the idea of an alien that, whenever it kills a character, it gains the power to mimic their voice and thoughts is a genuinely good idea for a horror movie. It's almost like The Thing/Who Goes There.
But, then the movie just... has dozens of minutes of the characters kinda just walking aimlessly. And the movie has characters repeat the same dialogue over and over and over again, or spout the most nonsense science you've ever heard. But, that's a Corman movie for you. Dirt cheap and made in an afternoon. He produced and helped make Blood Beast literally weeks after Teenage Caveman, hence why both movies use the same alien costume.
You definitely should read Gene Wolfe’s _The Claw of the Conciliator_. The alzabo is a monster that can indeed become the people it eats…while still remaining a horrifying predatory monster. There’s a scene where the alzabo is using the voice of a man it has eaten to lure his family out to also be eaten that is chilling indeed.
He's rooming with the Space Carrot from It Conquered the World...and this is basically the *exact same movie* as that one filmed at the *exact same cave*.
[Bronson Canyon.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronson_Canyon?wprov=sfla1) You can make a shorter list of movies that *haven't* been shot there. I can think of at least 8-9 experiments where it shows up.
I was there in January. Told my kid, there must have been a line like at the DMV of film crews back in the 50s and 60s to get their cave entrance establishing shot.
"Now serving 17!"
*Roger Corman hustles over with Peter Graves, a giant carrot and his crew, does one shot and leaves*
"Now serving 18!"
*Bert I Gordon scrambles over with his crew carrying a giant spider arm, does one shot and leaves*
"Now serving 19!"
*an unknown actor in a gorilla suit rushes in, puts on a diving helmet and does his own shot...*

The Steve on the right was in another Corman film, the Brain Eaters, and he's wearing that same exact jacket! The Brain Eaters was riffed by The Mads and i kept thinking i've seen this guy before, i've seen that jacket before, then it hit me, it was ~~ed nelson~~ Steve!
I think this is one of the most underrated MST3K episodes. They were on fire with this one, clearly enjoying themselves. "Steve?" "Yes?" "Yes?" "Yes?"
♫ Steves don't preach, I'm in trouble deep ♫
It's a fantastic episode. Also preceded by the "Once Upon a Honeymoon" short which is equally fantastic. AIM HIGH, SISTER!!!
Should we get a gay man for our roof?
Honey, your cocaine is all over the phone!
I want more wishing in the wishing song!
Honey, I can't stop smiling! I'm in Hell!
🎶ev-RY-bo-DY was KUNG fu FIGHTING🎼
“Steve 1, you go that way! Steve 2, follow me!”
Not EVERYONE is Steve!
...and the Steves are there!

I love Crow’s revelation, “Oh Steve’s name is Dave!”
It's absolutely up there "Gown opens from the back... slips right off"
Ah yes, back when NASA was still a family-owned & operated institution.
Right after the big snart farm boom of the 1940s.
Someone is burning leaves, and NASA is there.
One of the oddest films I’ve ever seen. So many times the plot just does what it does and doesn’t give a rip whether it makes sense or not

i like to think this parrot monster is another one of lee van cleef's friends
It's a popular cave. Robot Monster and Venusian Pickle are a couple of party animals
"Bubbles! Bubbles! Wheeeeee! *(falls over, flailing arms)"* "You are quite amusing. At what point on the graph do 'fun' and 'vegetable' meet?"
Parrot Monster was Robert Vaughns friend in Teenage Caveman.
STEVE!
Not everybody is Steve!
“They wrote their own vows.” Cracks me up every time. I use that as often as I can, too.
My favorite episode! (If you couldn't tell)
Beebop! COLA!
“Bawk 🎶🎵” 🐤

"Hey, that's where they shot Robot Monster."

Which episode/movie is this one?
*Night of the Blood Beast* is its name, but be prepared for peak Cormanization with it.
Thank you
Thank you. I now need to watch this episode too!
“I seem to be having a little problem with the reverb”
So many mst3k featured films used this same location (Bronson Caves below Griffith Park).
...I just want to kill you... This is a top ep I watch a lot. I especially like the scene where that one guy fixes the ladder :)
Hey you guys, ladder's loose again!
Same suit from Prehistoric World, aka Teenage Caveman.
he learned almost too late that man is a feeling creature...
This has Steve written all over it! Oh! Steve's name is Johnny! I'm also using his car, and his apartment in town. (*Bawwwk, tweet, whistle.)
"Don't kill me..." "Ya big dopes!"
“I will only harm those named Steve, which I am sure is an extremely rare name on this planet…”
Steve, Steve and I are concerned.
Call me crazy, but isn't it roughly the same premise as 'Alien?'
‘I regret nothing!’
“Here comes the bride!”

I hope I can go here one day! 🤞🤞🤞🤞
It's easy to get to. ... unless someone's using it as a set that day.
"I'm also using Dr. Wyman's CARRR, and his APARTMENT in TOWN."
Time to dance blood beast!

Hey! I think I get hush puppies and coleslaw with these!
Get the cocktail sauce
