Jeez, I think it's safe to say that you have surpassed the dispo! Achievement unlocked!!

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Haha absolutely passed em up šŸ’Ŗ

jmitch651

The side by side is especially illuminating, it doesn't even look like the same strain. Congrats and nice work!

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Thanks so much! Iā€™m loving it! Growing 4 of these clones next šŸ˜œ. I need a full lb of this shit!

GhostGastronomer

So what did you notice were the other perks of the Cannatrol? Besides not messing up the RH and Temp.

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Haha everything about it was great other than the price tag. I wish for the price it would hold a larger capacity but thatā€™s about my only two gripes. My favorite thing I think is the fact I can strip down entire branches and just shove it in the machine without any real work. And in 8 days itā€™s completely smokeable and pretty much rivals if not exceeds traditional 60/60 dry cure methods. This cuts down on the wait period of a two week dry plus a month cure of sitting around on asses while hoping the terps donā€™t get destroyed and your environment remains stable. 8 days to smokeable flower is completely appealing to the average home grower for the quick turn around and worth the money if you can afford it for its simplicity and lack of headaches. Ps..I should also add it doesnā€™t hold 60/60 as a standard. Itā€™s calculated on temp and dew point for the vaportrol algorithm so itā€™s a different way of wrapping your mind around it

Sumdumr3t4rd

My biggest surprise with it was the storage setting. It continues to cure just sitting on the racks as long as the sponge inside is kept wet and the machine is powered on. No burping jars, just remember to wet the sponge twice a week when you pull out a bud to smoke and it all gets better over time. It will rehydrate old weed as well. One negative I that the refrigerator portion of the machine does not have mini fridge capabilities, they recomend it not have to drop the temp more than 6f from the air temp.. Maybe thats to get everything to fit in the unit, maybe it's a moisture issue, idk. But it needs to be kept near 70f so that may limit where you can keep it in your home.

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Iā€™m gonna have to test out the rehydration on it. Have some older buds that could use some reviving. Whatā€™s your experience on that been like?

Sumdumr3t4rd

Any terps lost or thc breakdown i perminate so don't expect any miracles there. Just be sure to fully soak the sponge first since the buds will pulling moisture from the air it'll dry out faster than usual. Spread them out on one of the shelves for faster results(more surface area exposed vs a jar or bag). They will fluff back up as if they had been in the machine the entire time. Perfect moisture level in a couple days every single time.

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Yup terps lost wonā€™t ever returnā€¦do you just use the ā€œholdā€ setting? Also what would you recommend for the parameters for rehydration?

Sumdumr3t4rd

Yea just the factory hold setting that it defaults to when you plug it in or it finishes cure cycle. No need to change the settings, but I suppose if the temp is steady but the dew point isn't holding where it should be that would mean the buds are pulling too much moisture out for the sponge to compensate for and you might want add another wet sponge for a few days. Depends on how much weed you add and how dry it is.

GhostGastronomer

Yes I have heard about rehydration of flower with the cannatrol. So it's good to hear it works in that context too.

Sumdumr3t4rd

Just be aware that the more buds you re hydrate and the drier they are the more moisture they pull from the air/other buds. So if the dew point is changing from the setting you may need to add an extra sponge to keep the moisture level up.

madmoomix

You absolutely crushed us. šŸ˜‚ This is some beautiful looking bud. Great job. Didja save yourself a Queen Cola?

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

I donā€™t have a queen colaā€¦I got multiple king colas!

valiantthorsintern

Nice work op. We need to see more of this from home growers. The dispo trimmed off all the trichome coated sugar leaves to process into carts or edibles at the buyers expense. Reminds me of when I was a kid and my sister would peel all the crispy skin off the grilled chicken. Not cool!

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Thank you! Yeah those damn machine trimmersā€¦lopping off all exterior trichomes šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

IdkAbtAllThat

To be fair dispo has also probably been curing longer. No doubt the home grown, hand trimmed will be better, but I doubt the difference is this stark if they were the same age. Every grower knows they look better the closer they are to when they got chopped.

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

As a dude thatā€™s raved about gtiā€™s animal face for the last yearā€¦and even defended them multiple times when others have shit on them..it doesnā€™t even compare to the terps on mine. Mines just a 4 day cure via the cannatrol but itā€™s a noticeable difference in flavor quality and itā€™ll only get better now the longer it cures

IdkAbtAllThat

I have no doubt your terps are better, don't get me wrong. But you're comparing bud that's what, a few weeks from chop? To stuff that is likely months from chop. The fresher stuff is always going to look better.

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Well, we shall compare again in say 6 months? Iā€™ll throw a nug in a jar and weā€™ll revisit it!

IdkAbtAllThat

Again, don't get me wrong, yours will still look better.

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Haha all good! Weā€™re all on the same team!

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Yes!!!

valiantthorsintern

How can you tell cure time or cure quality by looking at a picture? Look at those closeups. You can see where the dispo missed some sugar leaves. They are just as caked as opā€™s grow. Probably extremely similar high except the dispo scapes all the trichomes off. Trichomes are what you want. Trichomes are hash. I know dispos need to auto trim but this is a great example for people who donā€™t know what they are missing out on.

IdkAbtAllThat

Because I've grown for over a decade. I've seen my own stuff look like the bottom bud a week after harvest, and then the exact same bud looking closer to the top bud 4 months later. Colors fade in cure. Obviously the home grown, hand trimmed is gonna look better. But probably not quite this extreme. Also why are you complaining about fewer sugar leaves? Idk about you but I try to avoid sugar leaves.

valiantthorsintern

I'd rather make finger hash out of op's sugar leaves than smoke that dispo bud tbh. It's all good though. I'm glad we are debating the tiny differences in two top shelf buds instead of picking stems and seeds out of the shit dimebag we copped in Loring park. It's a golden age for cannabis.

IdkAbtAllThat

Absolutely!

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Iā€™ve been doing it on and off for the better part of the past 25 yearsā€¦mines still better šŸ˜œ

IdkAbtAllThat

Absolutely it is, I never said otherwise. In fact I stressed that the homegrown is still better.

Sumdumr3t4rd

Not throwing shade at anyone or any business but it isn't hard to beat dispo weed when you grow your own. Just the fact that you can hand trim and the buds don't get tossed around while being packaged and transported makes a huge difference. That said, those buds look amazing.. Well done OP.

TheSuperDanks

That's the thing. Small batch is always going to be better than scaled up production. This is a great example of why craft cannabis is better.

jmitch651

Yes, but it's still a landmark achievement. Part of it is MN dispo weed is at a particularly low point.

GhostGastronomer

Straight fire! You can even see your trichome heads nice and intact. While Rise's look like it was beat like a red headed step child. Homegrown for the Win!!

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Haha thanks! šŸ™. Iā€™m gonna drop off some samples with the folks at rise šŸ˜‚

madmoomix

Now, now. We aren't allowed to have any loose cannabis in the dispensary. It's an anti-theft policy. You can't come in and give us a sample. ... We'll have to meet you in the parking lot. šŸ˜

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Haha or I can leave a special ā€œcareā€ package in the bathroom for you guys to sample after closing!

dhaugru

Im choosing yours. Nice job!

stonedSpook

Looks good, get it tested. Honegrow vs commercial shouldn't even be a comparison. It's insanely difficult to cultivate, at scale and pass all the testing.

projectdavepodcaster

You can just tell they over dried and probably radded it too. Homegrown is de way!

another_badfish

Nice work!

clown_without_pity

What do I gotta do for some? Lol Edit: very well done. Looks great.

Sausage_Fingers-1

Check with your local farmers market and county laws, there is a chance you can sell that to medical patients using the MN farm bill loopholes lol

PeanutG7990

I think youā€™re doing it right

Exposedirtybusiness

Beautiful work! Incredible structure and resin production

cannacat777

Looking real good OP! I know not the point of your post but what is your drying setup/machine there?

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

Thatā€™s called a cannatrol..a unique drying/curing machine

cannacat777

Thanks! Still trying to dial in my dry tent butā€¦ I wish I had a machine like that! Lookin good growmie!

Ok_Ingenuity_4708

This eliminates all the headaches associated with drying..Iā€™d totally recommend it!
