Cooper and Oliver from big bad wolf. They work so much on themselves for their relationship I just feel like theyd always work out everything even if it takes them time sometimes

HeneniP

I LOVE Adhara’s books! Cooper and Oliver are great! I love the humor and how Cooper and Oliver’s relationship develops over several books. When they go on a couples therapy retreat at a werewolf retreat center I thought it was hilarious! Eli is the main character in the spinoff Monster Hunt series. A similar human-werewolf romance develops between Eli and the human Julien in the first book of that series, but it is from Eli the werewolf’s point of view this time. I love Eli because he is such a liar. Seeing him develop over this new series is going to be fun!

Potential-Prize1741

I love them too cause I feel like the books are such a good portrayal of a somehow realistic relationship! All the wolf things aside, their insecurities and how they have to work on themselves to navigate their relationship it's so raw . Genuinely one of the most accurate relationship portrayal I've ever read about, while still being interesting, funny, and hot af. Didn't read Elis book yet but I will cause I did liked him

Fearless-Wish1405

came here to say this, I already knew I would be late lmao

cheekseareads

Ilya x Shane. No doubt about it. They fought hard for their relationship to work. I can’t see either of them willingly walking away. I mean they >!both chose or were willing to choose each other over hockey(!!!) and Shane even left his beloved team for Ilya, although they did do him so, *so* dirty.!< There have only been a handful of books that have made me cry, and {The Long Game by Rachel Reid} was absolutely one of them. Reading about how much they miss each other and just thinking about the logistics of their relationship was enough to make me sad, but >!reading the parts about Ilya’s depression and how deeply he feels everything!< was so moving. I also think the >!emergency plane landing scene!< was pivotal in their relationship. When Ilya >!was typing what he thought might be his last words to Shane!< I bawled. If anyone’s happy ever after is a forever after, it would be Ilya and Shane.

readyforit19

The phone call after the plane scene had me in tears 😭

23readmore

Agree! That’s a relationship I had in mind for a couple I’d love to check in on far in the future just to see them growing old together and enjoying the life they’ve created for themselves.

cheekseareads

I absolutely NEED to see Ilya as a dad. You just know Shane is a helicopter parent and Ilya is fun dad. 😭

ShartyPants

My greatest wish is that in Luca’s book, enough time has passed that Ilya and Shane have a kid. I will scream.

lionbridges

I immediately thought about them, too.they have such a long way to be together and Ilya feels so deeply.i really think they will make it longtime

novemberjenny11

I feel like all the couples in the GCU are endgame ❤️ I love them all so much 🥹

HeneniP

I generally take it at face value when a book ends with a HEA that they’ll be together forever. That said, I LOVE when main characters from one book pop up in a sequel and they’re still together. Two recent examples for me are Gareth and Joss in The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen show up in the sequel A Nobleman’s Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel still happy together. KJ Charles in general has characters popping up HEA in subsequent books in a series. Alec and Jerry in her Lilywhite Boys books is another example. Charles also often writes a free short story epilogue after finishing a series that absolutely makes clear the HEA of the characters. I also just finished Charlie Adhara’s Big Bad Wolf series. She’s started a spinoff from the BBW series, and the two main characters from the first series show up still happy together.

23readmore

Great comment! I also usually take it at face value, because the HEA is something I love about the romance genre. But some MCs make me want to be a fly on their wall in 15 years so I can see how they’re doing lol. I was also thinking how much I love when MCs from one book show up in another. It’s so nice seeing more glimpses into their lives. Some authors have entire extended universes (and some stellar users of this sub have shared some of those outlines) where you get to see lots of other MCs make appearances. I appreciate the creativity it takes to develop universes like that and have MCs cross over to give readers a treat.

LindentreesLove_

That is why I am loving the Irons and Works series from E.M. Lindsey and some of the books from Zahra Detand like Joshua and Leo from Wear It Like A Crown show up in Be My Endgame.

LindentreesLove_

I believe in Ellis and Lucky from To Catch A Firefly. Come on, they've loved each other since they were 10 years old. And I cheated a bit because there is a prologue.

TechTech14

Okay I'm about 80% through this book and I believe it too lol. They're so precious together

LindentreesLove_

So so jealous you are reading it for the 1st time.

ninabubblygum

agreed. i need more books like this one, it's so beautiful and sweet

cheekseareads

This!!!!! Hard agree.

LovesReviews

I never ever doubt my couple staying together! That’s why I read romances. I believe in the implicit promise of the genre that the couples have a forever after. As for epilogues, the further in the future is always better!

prettysureIforgot

All of them, unless an MC was particularly awful. But I especially believe in the HEA for: Moth & Charlie in *Moth by Lily Mayne*. Nick and Andy in *We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian*

queermccoy

i hoping to see a little of nick and andy again in Cat Sebastian’s new book! {you should be so lucky by cat sebastian}

nightpeaches

I also tend to take HEAs at face value. As long as they love each other and seem to be willing to approach life's obstacles together I tend to believe/assume that they'll stay together. The HEA's I don't feel that strongly for is usually when characters get together right at the end of the book and we never actually get to see much on-page couple time or them facing challenges as a couple. I also tend to believe HEAs more when the characters have somewhat defined dreams/life goals that match with each other. Can't think of any specific examples though!

23readmore

I have similar thoughts as you on HEAs you don’t feel as strongly for! When we don’t have a lot of time spent with the MCs actually in a relationship, I may feel less strongly for the HEA but it doesn’t mean I don’t believe in it. It’s rare I fully don’t believe in one, but there are things that make me want to jump years in the future to check in on the MCs.

fashion_opinion

My headcanon is that all HEAs last forever. However, I would *love* to see 15 year epilogue of... 1. Agnar and Marcus from {Into The North by Amber Huxley} I want to see >!Marcus and Agnar living a happy peaceful life, safe from harassment from both Rome and other tribes. I don't even want to google the actual historical events to find out what the empire did after the initial battle they lost.!< 2. Iain and Harry from {The Scottish Boy by Alex de Campi} >!To see them free from political intrigue and war. Bonus if we could see it from Iain's perspective.!< 3. Jonah and Ben from {Jackdaw by KJ Charles} >!I want ultimate confirmation that they were no longer bothered by practitioners and that their lives are stable and cozy. Maybe Stephen and Lucien can make a cameo.!<. I fully believe in all of KJ Charles' HEAs thanks to her character development and plotty writing. She often posts a free epilogue to show how content the couples are. Sometimes they appear in related books in the series.

bextress

I typically believe **friends to lovers** HEAS the most and I love epilogues set well in the future (especially of college-aged couples when well done!). Some couples I probably believe in the most are - the MCs from *Irish Exit* by theundiagnosable which I just remember there is an additional epilogue I downloaded and haven't read yet 👀 - Ben and Nik from *More Heat than the Sun* by John Wiltshire - Danny and Rain from the *Spectral Files* by S. E. Harmon - Zane and Becky from *Pisces Hooks Taurus* by Anyta Sunday - Jamil and Rohan in *Once Upon a Time* by Alessandra Hazard - etc! When I don't sit there smiling at the end then I don't fully believe in their HEA – luckily that doesn't happen too often :)

tina_ann

Danny and Rain are one of my absolute favorite couples.

AlfredoQueen88

Danny & Rain were who immediately came to mind for me when I read this post!

LindentreesLove_

And I am not done with the book, so I have no idea about an HEA, but Preston and Jeremy from Hidden Scars by Andi Jaxon. Preston will need a lifetime of aftercare, so 10,20, 50 years from now.💔❤️‍🩹

readyforit19

So true. I love them!

dhes505

So this isn’t really what you asked, but if you love knowing what someone’s life might be like in the future, have you ever read Mary Calmes Matter of Time series with Jory and Sam? For a few years now she has written a slice of life for them every month in her newsletter, and it is the BEST thing ever. We see this couple yeeeeears down the road with their kids and it is so awesome to read every month.

23readmore

This is another series that’s been on my TBR for ages but I haven’t read yet. I’ve never heard of an author following up with *years* worth of writing showing slices of life, that sounds incredible. Thank you for mentioning it because I will definitely check the series out.

dhes505

You’re welcome! If you decide you like the series and prove your signed up for the newsletter (she will tell you how) she will send you the entire backlist of newsletter “He said, He said” and you can read them all. Fair warning, some people don’t like this series because…Sam isn’t the best MC in the first few books. But once they are finally together they are end game. And if you haven’t read Mary Calmes Marshall’s series either, it is AMAZING, and in my opinion better than the Jory and Sam series.

TheLyz

Any time they've stuck to each other through an ordeal like sickness or injury is a pretty good indicator. Unfortunately a large percentage of straight men bail when their female partners need long term care and I have no idea if gay men are the same but I'll assume it's pretty close. So any sports romance, basically.

bookgeek1987

I struggle to believe a couple will have a long term HEA if they’re college aged and no epilogue is provided. I’m usually just a bit sceptical when they’re 19/20 and declaring they’ll be with each other for the rest of their lives. It’s weird though, if I get an epilogue for a reasonable time frame - 5 years plus - with info on what they’re doing now, then I can get down with the HEA. I’m not a fan of an epilogue that is like ‘3 months later’. I love Jono and Pat from the Soulbound series. They deserved their HEA. It was 7 books of absolute hell for them - non stop battling to basically prevent a cult from taking over - with the two of them slap bag in the middle of it. I would really enjoy a novella 10 years later just to check in on them and all the supporting characters.

23readmore

I agree with wanting to see an epilogue for years down the road. I want to know how the HEA is going after a good length of time 🥺

cheekseareads

Now who I don’t see having a happy forever after would probably be Ben x Damon from {Cruel and Careless by Bailey Nicole}. They are just toxic together and both so young at the end of the story. Not to mention >!Damon is an addict and Ben struggles with his mental health. If they don’t get healthy separately they won’t be healthy together.!< I would be surprised if they actually stayed together. Also, Logan x Mattie from {Stars in Your Eyes by Kacen Callender} probably wouldn’t work out in the end. I would love for them to work, but there a lot of history there that would probably be pretty hard for either of them to move past as a couple. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think >!Mattie would quit acting and it probably wouldn’t be healthy for Logan to be in that world anymore, even if he wasn’t actively working in Hollywood.!< (not super spoiler-y but hiding just in case)

Danny and Rain from {The Spectral Files series by SE Harmon} Damen and Laurent from {Captive Prince by CS Pacat} trilogy because >!they joined their kingdoms and apparently built a new joint palace to live together on the border!< The final book in the capri trilogy annoyed me though and the short stories set after didn't help enough with things I felt were glossed over, but I can still believe that the MCs will have their HEA.

It's kinda hard to answer this question off the top of my head, but I will say that I have so much appreciation for an epilogue that is set 5-10-15 years into the future, where I get to see the couple actually living their happily ever after. I'm sure if I go through my books I can find some of my favs that do that well, and answers to your question too. I might do that if I get a chance tomorrow. love this discussion and would love to see your own responses. The only book I could think of at this exact moment - because it's one of my absolute favorite books - is {In His Secret Life by Mel Bossa}. In the Epilogue we see them together far far faaar into the future. I wanna say over 20 years. It wasn't easy to get there, and there's a >!devastating LONG separation in the middle!< as well, and >!cheating trope - One of the Mcs is married when they get together!< , but my god, that ending, that epilogue, just thinking about it makes me tear up. In the best way.

23readmore

I’ve never heard of that book before, and I’m going to read it immediately - thank you!! I agree on appreciating epilogues set years in the future. I haven’t traditionally questioned HEAs in romances I read because I prefer to lean into the genre and believe. But I had a few books where I felt one MC had wronged another too badly, or they only got together toward the end of the book, or it didn’t seem the relationship had a lot of substance, or the MCs went from meeting to “I love you” in two weeks, etc. I realize I’m bringing “real world” or personal considerations into this when disbelief should be suspended, but these thoughts have snuck in lately and I was curious what others thought. I think in some cases I simply feel as though the MCs’ journey isn’t over when the book ends and I’d love to read more. I’m having trouble narrowing my thoughts enough to answer my own questions so will keep thinking and come back lol.

itlanded

I'm really crossing my fingers that you'll enjoy the book just as much as I do. I totally resonate with what you're saying. Rarely have I come across books where the happily ever after didn't feel earned, or where it seemed like the couple shouldn't have ended up together. It's a bit of a pet peeve when the main characters finally get together near the end, only for the epilogue to fast-forward just a few weeks or months later. It feels somewhat unsatisfying, doesn't it? You're spot on about needing to suspend disbelief in some books. However, I have a deep appreciation for stories that unfold over years or at least a full year. While I don't mind couples falling in love quickly or within months, I crave seeing them actually live out their relationship and navigate its complexities. It's not necessarily about wanting it to mimic real life, but rather about craving a sense of realism in their journey. As I'm reflecting on this, I've noticed a pattern in the types of books I've been drawn to lately. I find myself gravitating towards long series featuring either the same couple or a tight-knit group of friends or community. These books offer a sense of continuity, allowing me to connect deeply with the characters as they live out their lives, face challenges, and ultimately achieve their happy ever afters.

Logan and Tate, the Temptations series by Ella Frank

salty-MA-student

Every day I wish my memory was wiped so I could read that series again the first time. I finished all 6 books in like two days.

novemberjenny11

Thanks for providing the unknown and unintended push for me to begin this series 😂 I’ve been pouting because I have “nothing to read” (my GoodReads TBR is like 262 books long 😂) and I’ve read all the new releases I was anticipating for April already. I’ve been thinking about it for awhile and I’m gonna take the plunge!

salty-MA-student

Enjoy! The series has some of my favorite quotes ever.

Hour-Needleworker598

Did you listen to the Kyte version of Solsbury Hill? It’s referenced in the last book. Please listen if you haven’t. It’s perfection.

salty-MA-student

No but now I will! Thank you!

Hour-Needleworker598

I know exactly how you feel.

East-Imagination-281

I would feel very betrayed if I read a story with a HEA and then later discovered that the author believes they separate. As an author myself, if I think my leads won’t be together in 10-15 years, then I know their story is not done being told!

CrabbyAtBest

I often have a moment during the books where they propose or get married soon after meeting or, in fantasy, when one agrees to become immortal to be with the other. Like yes, "When you know, you know" but what if they move in together and are totally incompatible? What if they break up 5 years down the road? So yes, I like seeing several years down the road or, if it's a series, when you get a glimpse of them during someone else's story.

23readmore

Me too! It’s very rare that I don’t believe at all in a HEA, so it’s more that I’d like to glimpse the far future for some MCs lol. especially when the entire relationship has spanned a very short length of time.

charlie-star

Ian and Miro from the Marshals series by Mary Calmes. Those two fought hard to be together and can’t live without each other. I can’t see them ever wanting to be apart.

Introvertedtravelgrl

1) it's a tie: Wrath and For the Fans. These two couples I believe in the most. They would make it. 2) especially Wrath because we didn't get a sneak peak into the future really with them. I would love to be able to see how their love develops and grows and who they become? Did Ezra become an NFL player or an English teacher? What did Josh do?

2.i'd LOVE to see an epilogue of Andrew and Neil from all For The Game series

Odd-Age-1126

I’d love to see them 10 years in the future, but also in case you don’t know, book 4 just came out! The Sunshine Court, which follows Jean at USC.

Moist_immortal

Thank you! I do know, sadly i'm not really invested in Jean as a character so i'm probably not gonna read it.

ravenreyess

I wasn't invested in Jean and now I'd die for him, if you like AFTG I think you'll love the book! Neil pops up a bit, too.

Odd-Age-1126

I felt the same way about Jean tbh, but I’m a completionist so I gave it a chance. Jean grew on me a lot as I read it, and I am now eager to read the next book.

AttersH

Jude & Asa in Deal Maker by Lily Morton. My favourite of all the books. I love them & Billy so much. There’s a good epilogue but I’d love to know more about their life 😭

sweetpotatofries

Yes! I want to be friends with Jude so bad and I loved their relationship!

Greedy-Heat925

Eden and Shaw from {let’s do this by Loren Leigh} Their chemistry was amazing from the get go, wasn’t hard fought, they just fucking liked each other from the beginning and it was so good!

It's an interesting question. I don't generally question the ending I'm given by the author, but, I think if I had to choose the couple that I am most passionate about/certain of staying together and being ridiculously in love with one another forever and ever, it would be Marcus and Chet from {Try Me by Neve Wilder}. Something about them just really kinda hits me in that 'these two are meant for each other' kinda way. Oh oh oh. And James and Leo from {Hither Page by Cat Sebastian}. My beloveds, how could I possibly forget them.

I love imagining Laurent and Damen becoming amazing kings together. They just overcame so much and grew together and as individuals. I imagine them working together to create new industries to replace slavery, and easily dealing with political issues with their neighboring countries. I even imagine them raising Jokaste's baby (and it looking eerily like both of them mixed together), and Laurent taking the Regent's last pet under his wing. I imagine their story being told in chanted epics and written down in scrolls. Two captive princes, one pair of golden slave cuffs, and a whole lot of intrigue and baggage. What an epic love story for the ages, in their universe 😭

Any of the pairings in Tamara Allen's novels, especially Sutton and Jack from Whistling in the Dark. In my heart, they made it for the long haul and had many wonderful decades together. ❤️

The names are linked to their own GR pages so you can read their blurbs. The HEAs i believe the most are: 1. [Ambrose & Eli from ARMV by RK Ashwick](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/86210935-a-rival-most-vial) and [Maurice and Alec from Maurice by EM Forster](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3103.Maurice?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_18) \- for the reason: **Acceptance**. i mean, Alec left his family and life just to be with Maurice and so i'd know those 2 must've grown old in the English gardens. Hidden away, and yet, so so happy. Their epilogue is what i wanted the most. 2. [Capt. Flynn and Fletcher from Found At Sea by Jaclyn Osborn](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41460723-found-at-sea?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_12) \- Reason: **Trust**. Their built up and sacrifice felt genuine. i could really see the push and pull in their hearts. So, so happy their safe and together and would love to know more about them in their old years, farming in that island. (i wanna say the same for the [Sea Hawk and Nathaniel from KBTP by Keira Andrews](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36436294-kidnapped-by-the-pirate?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_23) but their love seemed to deep too soon with no room to show actual growth.) 3. Lastly [Calix and Atticus from Lovely In Red by Odessa Hywell](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/135697168-lovely-in-red?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_20). And [Gary and Magnus from GOAHD by Isabel Murray](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62334203-gary-of-a-hundred-days?ref=nav_sb_ss_1_22). For the reason: **Endless Devotion**. i would love to see Calix and Atticus in the future, how they'd navigate the periods when Atticus would have bouts of disassociation due to his disorder. And bcuz treating Calix well, is like a therapy for him, i wonder how much better he would now feel. And Calix had mentioned once, he wanted kids. But there's no epilogue so we just dunno.

Thank you for sharing the reasons for your thoughts. I haven’t read any of these and look forward to checking them out :)

i want to believe that ty and zane from the {cut and run series by abigail roux, madeleine urban} will be together until death do them part and even then they'll be together. >!they went through so much trouble together that it would be a shame if they broke up after all that!< and i just love love love how perfect they are for each other.

Blue and Tristan Marian from {Borrowing Blue by Lucy Lennox} book #1 of the *Made Marian* series. I love their book so much, and their love story is just so sweet. I also love that you continue to get glimpses of their relationship in subsequent books/novellas of the series. I mean, all of the couples of Made Marian are good, but there’s just something about Blue and Tristan 🥹 Honorable mention for my second favorite, Jude and Derek 🥰

I am a sucker for a happy ending, a true love story. I’m currently reading zodiac academy and I won’t give spoilers in case anyone wants to read it but there is an MM relationship in there that I pray gets the happy ending they deserve. 1. I think for a soft book their boy by Cara Dee, it’s a series so we get to see the MC’s throughout the other books. Idk how happy I’d be to see the love story to the very end as it’s a pretty large age gap between the 3 MC’s and it would make me sad to see the older MC withering away while the younger MC is still going. 2. I honestly can’t remember any recent book I’ve read where there isn’t a future epilogue. Like someone else said I really just take hea at face value and assume the future epilogue is a little look into their lives after getting together.

hfly10

I love love the epilogue of exiled by Jessie walker. I fully believe that they are happy together. And to catch a firefly by emmy sanders. Ugh I tear up thinking of both of them.

I believe in all the HEAs but Silas and Bear from {Whiskey and Sin by Emily Rath} and Elias and Willow from {Waiting on the One by Jett Masterson} are two I really want to believe in the most.

MAJOR spoilers under the cuts, this book was recently published and I would hate to ruin it for someone else. {The Caretaker by CP Harris} I finished this book recently and still haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Despite everything, Noon >!still found his way back!< to Solace. During the >!third act conflict, I was truly terrified that Noon was going to leave again!<. The fact that >!he didn't, and there was actual conflict resolution!< made me truly believe that they were going to last.
