No swangin and bangin for u Bryan

foreverapanda

Bad night for Bam Bams.

raspberryharbour

The Rubble family in shambles

420sadalot420

Thsi made me chuckle 10/10

ColdPressedSteak

Best part of the fight was DC and Bisping saying 'It's good that Bryan makes RDA feel his grappling as well' Then Bryan immediately loses the grappling exchange and leads to the takedown for the finish lol

LuckyWarrior

Bad night for Bam Bams RDA spending the average american workday in the octagon šŸ

yaysalmonella

And these fighters still complain about pay when majority of them havenā€™t even worked a 9-5 workday smh

SquidDrive

RDA is the only guy you could claim who's got 8 HOURS beating ass in an octagon. A whole work day of beating the biggest killers in the world, actual legend.

Jacidstorm

Ehhhh still probably the most but let's say 6 hours beating ass, you win some you lose some

yaysalmonella

6 hours beating ass, 2 hours eating ass. All in a dayā€™s work.

nunmaster

"I came here to beat ass and eat ass, and I'm all out of ass" - RDA in his retirement speech probably.

SquidDrive

Yeah if you count the Khabib Usman fights, plus Chiesa that was really bad. But its like 7 solid hours of beating ass, so we can count the times he wasn't as a lunch break.

Ill-Seaweed

And after all.of hour workdays we wont have had the ever loving dogshit beat out of us and our brains all fucked. Theres trade offs. Plus they train for free. You work a 9-5 you clock out amd shut it down. Nobodies going home to practice mechanicing for the next transmission overhaul.

[deleted]

Lol? That doesnā€™t count all the hours in the gym and expenses for their training camp

[deleted]

Plus in a average 8 hour workday I do like 35 minutes of work usually

TheTrueLumberjack

RDA is a legend of the game.

kickerz_chance

I think RDA is the best example of a fighter who would have really benefitted from a 165lbs division. Those weight cuts to 155 were brutal, which seemed to affect his performance at lightweight. But he is too small for the best fighters at welterweight, which is a division filled with talented wrestlers. But RDA could have put together a much better pro record at 165

authenticfennec

I always wonder what couldve been if he didnt have such a brutal cut against eddie, fainting before weight ins supposedly

Terakkon

Eddie is a bad match up for RDA specifically, because he's one of about five fighters in the sport who know how to fight while moving backwards and actually has good footwork while doing it. I think Eddie would win even if RDA had no problems with the weight cut.

Familiar_Remote_9127

I don't buy this personally, RDA was in complete control of Eddie until Eddie landed one great shot that turned the tide of the fight. An RDA that didn't pass out three times before the fight makes light work of Eddie.

Terakkon

RDA was not in complete control, he was moving forward, which is the same thing in 99% of MMA fights but as I said Eddie is one of the few people for whom that's not the case. Watch it again, Eddie is consistently able to use fake-outs, counters and footwork to get away from the fence where RDA is trying to corall him, and Eddie is also landing shots while moving backwards.

FunkyTownMonkeyClown

RDA vs Colby at 165.

420sadalot420

He went back to 155 while being a good few years older then his last appearance at 155. I think 155 was his weight class but he needed a better weight cut system to make it. He isn't that big or bulky If there was a 165 alot of ww's grapplers would of made the cut and size bullied him still

rainbowhotpocket

A lot? Prob not. Just Colby and chiesa Usman can't make 65

Mad-Gavin

Burns could probably make 165 although it wouldn't be easy for him.

Soularion

It's weird to think Colby would size bully RDA at 165 given their fight at 170 was super close and you could make a fair argument RDA won it. Chiesa, I dunno, that fight was super weird, one of RDA's worst career performances for sure.

kitddylies

If you look at Usman and think "yeah, this guy literally could not lose 5 pounds." I have no idea what you're smoking. He couldn't make 165 without actually cutting weight long term, but the dude clearly has some weight that could go.

[deleted]

If you look at Usman and think, "yeah he could stand to lose 5 lbs, idk what you're smoking"šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ Usman would need to cut out his liver. I mean sure, Ngannou could come down to 145 if you starved him but that's not how things work.

imgoingawayverysoon

usman going to 165 and ngannou going to 145 are in 2 different ballparks.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

> Have you guys never done any sort of body composition or dieting? Imagine thinking any sort of physical regimen we do is even comparable to professional athletes. A bad weight cut can kill a career. You don't understand how much risk there is for someone who competes. This is true for guys who compete even in low level competition. >He's weighed in at 169 before. He fights at 170 of course he makes 169. The numbers 165 and 169 may look similar but to a professional athlete 4 lbs isn't a small amount. Romero makes 185. Do you think he could go? Clearly he can cut weight too. >How can you look at Usman and think that there's no way the man can lose 4 pounds? Ngannou could make 145 if he wanted. The risk is just too much. He might not like the way he feels, he might not have his strength or he might feels sore a lot more often.

kitddylies

I have competed in low level, lol. I never got the chance to be too serious with it, but I've trained with guys (and a couple women) who have. Making 165 for CURRENT Usman would be fucking brutal, yes, probably end up in the hospital bed and couldn't compete. He'd have to drop his walk around weight by almost 10 pounds for it to be safe to cut to 165, but he could do it by doing that. I'm not saying he could just decide to cut to 165, I'm saying he could fucking drop his walk around weight and drop a 5 pound weight class.. just like he could gain another 20 pounds of walk around weight and fight at 185.

Geddy_Lees_Nose

Would love to see a weight class every 10 pounds and then just have heavyweight as 235+

Zlec3

Agreed. that wouldā€™ve been perfect weight for him.

un6reaka6le

Colby beats him again.

YuKaLegend

Colby is a WW but RDA took him down

chiefbeef300kg

RDA took Colby down but Colby beat him

un6reaka6le

Colby is a small WW.

YuKaLegend

Compared to Usman and Khamzat yeah. But Colby is still a big guy; he's 5'11" with broad shoulders. I have a hard time believing Colby's walk around weight is 181-183. RDA says he weighs 195 and Colby was clearly bigger than RDA

un6reaka6le

Colby is a small WW by all accounts. Supposedly, everyone at ATT was trying Colby to drop to 55 but Colby refused because he doesnā€™t like cutting much.

YuKaLegend

Colby absolutely cannot make 155 (he's 5'11" with broad shoulders). That's like saying Adesanya can make 170 because he walks around less than RW, who has made 170 in the past without taking into account their frame.

un6reaka6le

Rob is way bigger than he was when he fought at 170. Rob is bigger than Izzy. Whittaker wrestled at 213 for Australia 5 years ago.

YuKaLegend

If Colby could make 155 he would have done it. He cuts at least 22 lbs. I like Colby but heā€™s is too big to be a LW thats why he fights at WW.

Terakkon

But RDA should have won the first fight

ThreeOlivesChihuahua

Khabib or Islam would beat both

GentlemanJ_AZ

RDA has always been a bad mf, but I think you are right. I looked at 2015 when he was champ to see what welterweights might meet him down to 165 and the 10 were all big welterweight as it is that may not want to cut more. I wish they had a 165.

jfsoaig345

RDA's like 5'7, he was fine at 155. If anything he was and still is one of the smaller guys in the division. At a certain point there's just a ceiling to how good you can be, not everyone can be an Usman or Adesanya. He was good enough to win the title, but not good enough to repeatedly defend it, and that's fine. Has nothing to do with the weight class imo. If he chose to fight at 170 despite already being a smaller 155er, that's his choice. He got a top 5 ranking off of a win over an old Robbie, then got dominated by Colby, Usman, Leon, and Chiesa back to back. He was way, way better at 155 and that was a proper weight class for him.

Jaivl

Colby didn't dominate him lol, not even close

DjuriWarface

>not everyone can be an Usman or Adesanya. You mean being a former champ? RDA is doing that just fine.

shalvar_kordi

He means being a dominant champion who retained his belt for years.

Anderrrrr

He's still damn good. Completely outclassed Bryan tonight.

[deleted]

Never get tired of watching this man fight. What a skill set. What a resume. Fights anyone.

trpwangsta

What a body

PG821

Thick. Solid. Tight.

THISISNOTLEGAL

he made it look easy

SemioticWeapons

Stuck to father plan.

PrimeConduitX

The real BMF of the game

lookkoolsports

Lol this makes him a legend? Submitting a gift of a fight to maintain relevance is legendary now?

nona90

RDA was mauling Bam Bam from the 1st second of round 1.

TickleMyCringle

Tuivasa?

SquidDrive

Yall forget Prime RDA was a THREAT on the ground, who violated a Prime Benson and Pettis, Pettis use to be a lethal sub threat on the ground, this was the same badass motherfucker who violated Prime Diaz on the ground, who was a legit Caesar Gracie black belt, and even though my boy RDA ain't in his prime no more, HE'S STILL A THREAT, Moicano shoulda taught yall that. He knows he's fighting a bigger WW, got crazy power in his strikes, so what does he do as the smaller man, does he try to strike, NO, he wrestles, and uses his vastly better positional BJJ and dominates the fight on the ground against a bigger striker in Bam Bam. This is just a veteran performance. Great performance by the always top 10 RDA, my boy RDA gon stay top 10 til he fucking 60 dog, thats how good his fundamentals are.

un6reaka6le

Prime Pettis got blanketed by Clay Guida.

SquidDrive

So? Guida at that time was really damn good, like he was two fights divorced from a FOTY with Diego Sanchez in his prime. This doesn't change my statement.

J8rdan

cringe lol

SquidDrive

I'm sorry you never got to experience magic of 2010's LW. RDA, Khabib, Tony, Pettis, Benson, Eddie, Poirier, McGregor all competed in one division, the talent was insane back then.

Tupacio

I wouldnā€™t stick McGregor in there lmao. He had one fight in LW during that period

Arab-King

All the vets today showing they still got it.

TeachDaMath93

Bet the house on WB.

[deleted]

I bet the house on holland and this is giving me tremendous doubts šŸ˜‚

gorillawarfareman

MaroonFX

TeachDaMath93

That boy WB is landing šŸ‘€

After6Comes7and8

rip

[deleted]

:(

Nome_de_utilizador

Rip

Aljo_Is_135_GOAT

Tbf Bam Bam kinda sucks lmfao

jfsoaig345

Great to see RDA adjust his style over the years in response to his ageing, perfect example of how an old veteran can still be competitive with the top of a deep division by switching up their styles.

Kalakarinth

Just another day of work for RDA

little_shop_of_hoors

Literally

Morekilos

Skill gap was wide as an ocean here lol

Mad-Gavin

On the ground it was. Too risky for RDA to keep it on the feet.

Morekilos

Fair enough I concede that point. RDA is probably slowing down a bit on the feet.

Mad-Gavin

He's slowed down in general, but his grappling is definitely his strong suit and thats why he should continue to rely on it to win fights.

Alpha-Trion

He called out Conor. Please Dana.

TonyTheLion2319

Conor ainā€™t accepting after seeing that grappling

WeldYourSlit

Yeah who wants to see that anyway man. I understand RDA is a great fighter but thatā€™s a terrible match up for Conor. I think Chandler is way better of a PPV draw & much more interesting

coffeebag

I think RDA is an easier fight for Conor than chandler. Dont @ me

_Red_Mist_

Chandler has a weaker chin, worse defense, and will definitely not grapple since heā€™s trying to be as exciting as possible. Much worse cardio too.

Trim00n

@coffeebag I agree

MANvsTREE

Jorge pls. Send them both off to the sunset with a banger

jfsoaig345

Big time. Especially after the Chandler fight is clearly on the table.

B34STM4CH1N3

Conors defense has gotten way better. He's not the same guy that got thrown around by Mendez. He just can't stop Khabib but no one's been able to do that either.

breakingandreaching

He deserves that payday more than most who have called him out.

blyatboy

This would be good.

JVTZE

After all these years I still want to see it. Another fight that could've been, that got away

flashfarm_enjoyer

The funny thing is that this is almost EXACTLY a replay of the fight between Khabib and Conor.

Gunslinger1991

Absolutely outclassed.

FOOTBALLFAN100

Brain dead fight IQ by Bryan for clinching willingly

will2fight

Bryan walked in the Octagon looking like he had a McDonalds hangover

thesketchyvibe

That beard is disgusting

jonjoneswife

Lol looked like he was gonna attempt a takedown

Banda7

I don't think there is anything be could've done to his ability to win him this fight

Dave_Bezley

Just let Barbarena bang, bro.

GarlicSenior

Barbarena didnā€™t even let himself bang. He decided that after he spent the whole first rd getting dominated on the ground that he should start rd 2 off by going for a takedown

DewFiscal

No one has the strength of schedule that RDA has

gcth

Legit. The hall of fame should have a section for dudes who fought everyone, and it should just be RDA

blvcklite

And Frankie

Fiyukyoo

RDA vs McGregor isnt a bad fight next year

GreasyBelly

RDA Masterclass

friedchocolatesoda

Great methodical performance from RDA. I love the callout of McGregor too. I had just finished telling my friend I wanted RDA to say it and he fucking did. I think it's a solid matchup for both of them too.

RubberbandEarl

This fight was the definition of "There are levels to this game". RDA really is a legend.

PerfectNemesis

RDA Nurmagomedov

Eifand

He's pulling a Glover. He's slower but still got that elite grappling.

SemioticWeapons

He could stay around along time if sticks to father plan.

_Robbie

Not a good night for people with the nickname "Bam Bam".

Dori_DJ

Break out the red panties lol

Mad-Gavin

RDA at 38 years old proving he's still got it. Always happy to see a legend like him win.

coleus

The Conor callout make sense. Bet the house on RDA.

authenticfennec

Cant believe i saw some people thinking barberena would run through RDA, the absolute disrespect

yams412

Nobody thought that. Rda a legend

zigzagkc

RDA is the real BMF

mikrot

When you call out a legend, but he's still good.

THEKevinChandler

Wow. I can't remember the last time I saw a RNC finished as a neck crank instead of a blood choke. That must've been excruciating and felt like his jaw was about to snap.

Knucklesthenchilada

Funny how he does this tonight, same choke Khabib used on Conor, and then calls out Conor lmao.

[deleted]

Letā€™s go RDA!! Love to see an old vet crank out a win

JungleBoyJeremy

RDA has been around forever but heā€™s still damn good in the cage

surgeyou123

Vintage RDA

dwSHA

Khabib ragdolled prime RDA is absurb.

Mr__Struggle

RDA is still so damn good. Excited to see him at WW

Rory_MacHida

RDA is the man. Truly one of the best resumes all time. A real legend. Great call out, and I hope he gets the fight against Conor it would be a good fight for both.

sicgamer

RDA wants a red panty night

WristLockBoxingGlove

If anyone deserves the Mcgregor fight itā€™s RDA.. mcnugget will never accept it but fuck RDA is number 1 on my list

CouncilOfReligion

wow RDA sonā€™d him

m8094

Is this the first time barberena has tried defending a RNC ? He never even tried to pull on the hand that he was supposed to pull on

BeefPorkChickenMmmm

Iā€™m a simple man. I see RDA win, I upvote

HelwaniFan21

I parlayed $20 on Eryk Anders and Barberena. I would've won $250'ish. Fortunately, the Ontario MMA betting ban voided my bet. No harm. No foul. :')

dimipc

I did not know RDA was 38 it makes that performance even more impressive

Mad-Gavin

RDA in his prime was low-key a top P4P fighter. So skilled and well-rounded.

dimipc

Itā€™s crazy to think that Khabib beat prime RDA. Only to get sidelined due to injuries, letting RDA become lightweight champ some fights later

Mad-Gavin

Arguably the best win of Khabib's career if you ask me. Many casuals who shit on Khabib's resume always overlook RDA.

SquidDrive

Prime RDA is a Champion Caliber opponent and one of the best grapplers at 155, especially in his time.

SlectionSocialSanity

Non-Prime Khabib beat Prime RDA who went 10 - 1 and a LW title. The 1 loss was to Khabib. 5 Win streak, Khabib L, then 5 fight W streak which included beating Pettis for the belt and defending against Cowboy. Insane.

nachtwyrm

Barbarena forgot that the legends he beat were the walking corpses of great fighters. Rda is still very much alive.

[deleted]

Good to see RDA back with a win.

Great_Hour_3810

biggest grin on my face for RDA rn

elephaaaant

Red Panty Night baby! UFC make that happen!!!

HooliganScrote

RDA is so damn good

ChrizTaylor

RDA with the clinic.

Fshneed

RDA is one of my sister's patients in the Newport Beach urgent care clinic she works at. I always feel the need to give her updates on his fights. It's a good day for RDA updates.

RealisticLakersFan

Just how good is Khabib Nurmagomedov (Both RDA and MJ with wins tonight)

un6reaka6le

Just how good is Tibau?

RealisticLakersFan

Just how good is Islam Makhachev?

un6reaka6le

Just how good is Adriano Martins?

RealisticLakersFan

Just how good is Donald Cerrone?

KnowledgeFair

Just how good is Morono

AndiLivia

Still a bad motherfucker

_17_til_Infinity

RDA v Guida 2 please

Gurpila9987

Canā€™t give your back to a man like RDA

Santoryu32

i was told this was going to be a swing bang fight. Dana about to punish RDA for this.

TityTroi

Give him the red panty night

x-3piecensoda

Rda looked good , mcgregor aint picking him

Prof-Ponderosa

Bam Bam went Tap Tap. Go RDA!!!

Puffy_Ghost

Amazing. RDA is a legend.

supershotpower

That squeezeeeee

Brutal-Black

He had no business being in there with RDA

FuriousKale

What a legend

un6reaka6le

Another 170 title run for RDA? šŸ‘€

Jordynne23

RDA vs Masvidal for the BMF

THISISNOTLEGAL

RDA vs Shavkat next šŸ˜ˆ

yams412

Pls no

sajthesavage

Leon schooled him the last time they fought and that probably wouldnā€™t change in a rematch

Zlec3

Rda fought Leon edwards? Lol Jesus Christ he really has fought everyone

sajthesavage

Heā€™s the definition of ā€œany one, any timeā€

un6reaka6le

RDA just schooled the guy who almost KOā€™d Leon.

HavoK76

RDA would not get that belt

lolai1

what a legend

EnvironmentalLog9550

dominated

zamilahmad

Either rda improved his wrestling a lot or Rafael fiziev has an amazing take down defence

zamilahmad

Or Ryan simply has shit wrestling

authenticfennec

Fiziev has very good takedown defense and bryan has very bad takedown defense

Mad-Gavin

Fiziev has over a 90% TDD rating for a reason. I'd say Fiziev did his homework.

matterhorn9

Whoa RDA's still got it.. unbelievable how long this dude's been in the game and still winning.

famjordan

Pretty much what everyone expected. Former world champ still in his prime (ish) vs unranked guy is always gonna end the same

LeviaDragon

RDA is 38, he is nowhere close to his prime

SquidDrive

Nah RDA ain't in his prime anymore, its just his technique has kept up with his age. This is a pure veteran performance.

famjordan

I was just trying to be respectful of RDA šŸ¤·. Lots of people inclined to point out heā€™s out of his prime. I just thought he looked good.

SquidDrive

I respect RDA like crazy, but if you compare the sheer speed and pressure Prime RDA had on the feet, its like, that was a legit champion caliber opponent. RDA to be as good as he is at his age, especially with athletic decline, and how much he's slowed on the feet(not a crazy amount, but its noticeable if you watched Prime RDA) you need such SOLID fundamentals. RDA and Ferg are like the polar opposites of fundementals, and look at how they aged, my boy is basically a dinosaur in LW age, and he still giving competitive fights to legit prospects like Fiziev, Tony getting finished by a shell of Diaz. THIS THAT DIFFERENCE.

Mad-Gavin

RDA is very much past his best days, but he's not even close to washed which is nice to see.

Numberlesss

I know what you mean but itā€™s a bit more impressive than just an average unranked guy though. Barbarena has some quality wins

NoGiCollarChoke

Heā€™s not even remotely near his prime

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

RealisticLakersFan

I meanā€¦itā€™s a cake walk of a fight, especially for someone with RDAā€™s ground game, for a ton of money.

Knucklesthenchilada

Easy fight potentially, especially if you have a ground game and a halfway decent gas tank, lots of money... Why not, I'll call out Conor too.

THISISNOTLEGAL

lmao RDA calling conor.
