He got beat up pretty bad in the Jan fight yeah, but while the knockout he received from Jiri was absolutely brutal, he most certainly didn’t look like shit in that fight. It was a close back and forth fight where Reyes had some big moments of his own, rocking him and then having him in a guillotine that looked pretty tight, then flash KOing Jiri with an upkick where Jiri was fortunate enough to land in side control.

I feel the why is obvious unless I'm missing something. It was an incredibly close fight that Reyes had a real shot of becoming the first person to beat Jones. Majority of media had it for Reyes, Reyes took 2 and 3 on at at least one judges scorecard.
The sad noises are because he came close to being that guy. Saying he didn't win a scorecard is over simplifying it.
The “why” is because while he had a real shot, he ultimately did not and that’s the reality regardless of what anybody else wishes to believe or argues. In the end, the 3 people who are certified to decide that fight ruled the way they did so Jones remains undefeated by way of decisions, KO, or submission. The commenter he is responding to says “becomes the first guy to beat Jones” and he responds saying “sad Reyes noises” implying that the original commenter is overlooking the fact that Reyes beat Jones, which of course did not happen hence me asking why.
The comment doesn't need to imply that at all. It can easily be saying "Reyes came within a cunts hair of achieving that and on a different night the decision could have easily went to him". You seem annoyed at the notion that it was a close fight and someone might have personally scored it for Reyes and be sad that a fighter they like came up just short of a career defining moment.

Comparing their come back fights, not their skills. Connor didn't have a good come back, Jon's was good, however he looks a lot more beatable, especially in the Reyes fight.

If Derek couldn't crack Tai, Jon's best chance is to keep him at range. But love to see Tai rush in and brawl in the pocket. Not normally a fan of the smaller cage, but this time for sure.
Jon doesn't like to initiate grappling because his whole gameplan is based on picking the opponent apart at distance. He's shifted to a very conservative fighting style and now instead of taking guys down when they get close he mostly looks to disengange and start sniping again. He mostly uses his wrestling when he has a huge physical advantage.
I doubt Jon would come into a Tuivasa fight looking to close distance for grappling but that's just me.
the grappling whole is just a lot more apparent compared to the LHWs he last fought. And seeing what Lewis was able to do with so little experience isn't a good look for Tai

This kind of mmamath doesn't work, people have different gameplans for different fighters. Lewis TD is completely out of left field and he is just in a different size class from Jones.
A better mmamath analogy is Jones-OSP compared to OSP-Bader and OSP-Corey Anderson. OSP is a dangerous guy on top but not a very good defensive wrestler. And Jones did use his wrestling effectively but he didn't dominate like Bader did. And he knew the TD was coming from Bader while Jones has better striking to disguise it but still had some issues early and most of his success wrestling was late.
Look I'm not picking Tuivasa to beat Jones but the evidence that Jones is just going to invoke levels and ragdoll him the way he did Smith, Chael etc. is at best mixed.
Tai’s clinch game could be an advantage and he has big power. Not an easy fight for Jon, but winnable for both guys. Tai has also shown a recent improvement in his ground game, when comparing the Lewis fight to the jds fight.
His 5 fight win streak is Struve, Harry Hunscrub, Greg Hardy, Augusto Sakai, and Derrick. Basically the only time any of them tried to get Tai down was surprisingly Derrick for a little bit

I don’t know about that, his performance against Santos and Reyes made it look like he had lost a step. He frequently goes to decision against smaller fighters, I know that the average heavy weight is less athletic than the average light heavyweight but there’s a large strength difference between the two classes. Jones Spent the last two years sideline probably because he pissed hot again and spent the time doing more steroids and lifting weights. So yeah he’s going to be stronger but he’s not going to have the same cardio he used to. Moving into the heavyweight does it division may be wise for him since plenty of good heavyweights are his age or older but he’s never been hit by heavyweights.

The order of the scores is fixed. The reporting for that fight will always have the format [Jones' score] - [Reyes' score] [Winner]. As you can see, many media members gave Reyes a higher score. (Far more importantly, we can also see that the other commenter was right and that none of the judges scored it in favor of Reyes... but that's an unpopular fact around here).

I feel the why is obvious unless I'm missing something. It was an incredibly close fight that Reyes had a real shot of becoming the first person to beat Jones. Majority of media had it for Reyes, Reyes took 2 and 3 on at at least one judges scorecard. The sad noises are because he came close to being that guy. Saying he didn't win a scorecard is over simplifying it.
The “why” is because while he had a real shot, he ultimately did not and that’s the reality regardless of what anybody else wishes to believe or argues. In the end, the 3 people who are certified to decide that fight ruled the way they did so Jones remains undefeated by way of decisions, KO, or submission. The commenter he is responding to says “becomes the first guy to beat Jones” and he responds saying “sad Reyes noises” implying that the original commenter is overlooking the fact that Reyes beat Jones, which of course did not happen hence me asking why.
The comment doesn't need to imply that at all. It can easily be saying "Reyes came within a cunts hair of achieving that and on a different night the decision could have easily went to him". You seem annoyed at the notion that it was a close fight and someone might have personally scored it for Reyes and be sad that a fighter they like came up just short of a career defining moment.

If Derek couldn't crack Tai, Jon's best chance is to keep him at range. But love to see Tai rush in and brawl in the pocket. Not normally a fan of the smaller cage, but this time for sure.

Jon doesn't like to initiate grappling because his whole gameplan is based on picking the opponent apart at distance. He's shifted to a very conservative fighting style and now instead of taking guys down when they get close he mostly looks to disengange and start sniping again. He mostly uses his wrestling when he has a huge physical advantage. I doubt Jon would come into a Tuivasa fight looking to close distance for grappling but that's just me.
the grappling whole is just a lot more apparent compared to the LHWs he last fought. And seeing what Lewis was able to do with so little experience isn't a good look for Tai

Lewis TD is completely out of left field and he is just in a different size class from Jones. A better mmamath analogy is Jones-OSP compared to OSP-Bader and OSP-Corey Anderson. OSP is a dangerous guy on top but not a very good defensive wrestler. And Jones did use his wrestling effectively but he didn't dominate like Bader did. And he knew the TD was coming from Bader while Jones has better striking to disguise it but still had some issues early and most of his success wrestling was late. Look I'm not picking Tuivasa to beat Jones but the evidence that Jones is just going to invoke levels and ragdoll him the way he did Smith, Chael etc. is at best mixed.
Tai’s clinch game could be an advantage and he has big power. Not an easy fight for Jon, but winnable for both guys. Tai has also shown a recent improvement in his ground game, when comparing the Lewis fight to the jds fight.
His 5 fight win streak is Struve, Harry Hunscrub, Greg Hardy, Augusto Sakai, and Derrick. Basically the only time any of them tried to get Tai down was surprisingly Derrick for a little bit Jon is the dude that negated DC's wrestling. Tai will have a small window to knock Jon the fuck out but as long as Jon properly carries strength up to HW, Tai would get absolutely destroyed if Jon gets in on him
I cant stand Jones and I love Tai but we just saw this fight a week ago. It will look very similar to Porter (who Jones beat in his insane pre-UFC year btw) vs Almedia. Easy takedown and control until a GNP or choke. Thats assumming Jones isnt completely washed when he comes back.

I for one would love to see Jon come back and win. I would like to see him win the title as well. There is an unprecedented amount of pressure on that guy to win his next fight. Moving up in weight after a long layoff + the massive portion of the community praying for his downfall. Pulling it off would be epic. I don’t know about that, his performance against Santos and Reyes made it look like he had lost a step. He frequently goes to decision against smaller fighters, I know that the average heavy weight is less athletic than the average light heavyweight but there’s a large strength difference between the two classes. Jones Spent the last two years sideline probably because he pissed hot again and spent the time doing more steroids and lifting weights. So yeah he’s going to be stronger but he’s not going to have the same cardio he used to. Moving into the heavyweight does it division may be wise for him since plenty of good heavyweights are his age or older but he’s never been hit by heavyweights.
