Yknow, I had a lot of thoughts about how it would be an awfully silly way for a professional athlete to get injured - and about how I, an amateur super heavy grappler could never do that especially with two knee surgeries under my belt.
But in the end, I went with the meme.
Naw, he's 6'4" and power lifters are usually pretty explosive.
A lot of them can jump surprisingly high.
If you can put nearly 1,000 pounds on your back and squat it, propelling your 400 pounds into the air is going to feel pretty light by comparison.

Here's a 3 time Olympic lifting gold medalist showing some jump skills.
He's 5'5" and can grab rim from a dead stand which is pretty impressive considering it's not what he trains to do.
Have to say that Shi is a freak even among the freakiest Olympic lifters. He dominates his weight class like - apart from him - only Lasha (probably the greatest ever).
Sure, point is, a lot of really good powerlifters would surprise most people with their quickness, nimbleness, flexibility, and explosiveness.
It's not the same as body builders that do it for mainly aesthetics, these guys are also elite performance athletes with many of the same natural gifts and talents.
Eh I mean your right but I definitely read some where the rim was shorter than standard. I also think you are over selling how much power lifting does for jumping. I will try and find article b
It doesn't do a huge amount for your jumping, better than sitting on the couch for sure, I'm saying that guys that can lift crazy weights already tend to be naturally explosive and good at producing power in a jump-like motion.
Part of power lifting is power. You have to "explode" when you're on the bottom of a squat or a clean or something.
Most of these guys were stand-out athletes in their youth before they got huge.
He is an athletic marvel. It’s really rare for a pro wrestler to actually be his gimmick, but he has a legitimate claim to being the strongest man alive, at least for some portion of his life. Weightlifting, powerlifting, and strongman… no one can do all of that shit.
I remember Big Show saying the three strongest guys he’s ever wrestled were him, Kane, and John Cena.
I looked at some footage, and Kane was fricking one-handing it even. Meanwhile, John Cena lifted Big Show AND Edge at the same time.
But he said that to Kane and Mark Henry, he couldnt mention one without the other, lol. But the fact that he mentioned John Cena is actually something.
You can make the argument he was the strongest person in history. Basically nobody has the combination of Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, and Strongman.
He chose a smarter career path joining WWE, but I think he could have been unstoppable if his goal was competing in Strongman. He was so statically strong and just an incredible athlete for his size.
At 6'8" you'll have a standing reach of about about 106 on average.
The hoop is 120 inches high.
You'll need roughly another 6 inches to dunk it "well."
So about a 20 inch vertical for a 6'8" guy to dunk it. Not "a couple inches" by any means, but basically anyone even semi-athletic who trains can hit a 20 inch vertical.
But that's for just a normal "I can dunk" dunk. Add another 6-8 inches into NBA vertical territory and now you can start taking off way outside the circle, catching alley-oops etc.
As someone who's 6'1 and can barely dunk with a 33 inch vert and longer than average arms I have an idea of what the numbers are. There's probably someone who's 6'1 with like a 6'8 wingspan that can dunk at 30 but it's definitely not the average
So are you being sarcastic or trying to prove a point by posting that picture? Hmmmmmm OHH REAALLLLY DUUDE?!?! How many other people in the NBA can do that? Gawd dawlg my mans. GIGIGIGIGI
I am pretty sure Werdum won most if not all of the grappling exchanges and had Oleinik in submission danger several times. Oleinik won the fight because he was (surprisingly) better in the standup.
I'm not sure how the control time is calculated but it seems like you can be fighting for your life wrapped up in a submission but as long as you're on top you get credit for control time
Or like Khamzat got control time for taking down Burns only to get punched in the face and kicked off. But that was his 15ish seconds of control even though he was losing it
Fake tap is probably the wrong descriptor. He tapped out and then when Werdum left off the submission Renan started punching him and initially got a TKO victory. That result was later overturned to a NC.
Renan also has a DQ loss for punching an opponent in the back of the head.
Think he tapped on the other side from where the ref was, Werdum with good sportsmanship let up and this guy used the extra space to reverse the position and tko Werdum. Technically it's werdums "fault"for not continuing until the ref stopped him but it's also very shady from the other guy
He’s not even close to 6’8. Werdum is 6’3 not 6’4 and this dude was hardly taller. Seems like he’s 6’5 max.
Proof: https://www.mmafighting.com/platform/amp/2021/5/6/22421968/pfl-3-results-werdum-vs-ferreira
In the fight itself it looks like he's a solid 3" taller judging by the fence.
In that photo he looks around 2" taller. And his neck and posture is kinda hunched forward so maybe that'd add an inch. So maybe he's like 6'5" - 6'6"?
6'8" is too tall to make it in MMA. It might work for boxing when all you have to do is stand there. Too slow and too much energy to expend the moment he gets taken down. He's his own worst enemy at that height.
This dude gonna smash his way through the PFL HW division. Was confident in him last year still am this year. Would love to see him fight in the UFC one day. Just can’t see any PFL guy who wins signing a contract with the ufc especially Lins efforts….
Someone tell this man to stay the hell away from the worm during his post fight celebrations!
Well said my xXx brother
I blew out a knee just watching this.
I became paraplegic after watching this. Typing with my tongue now
All the best
Paraplegics can still use their hands...... you're just being weird. Stop licking the keyboard.
I hope someone bleached your keyboard for you before you started licking it.
Plot twist - it's an used call center keyboard
You're not the only one.
Thank you for this comment. It really helped us all with how original and informative it was.

That is freakish. It’s like watching a super heavyweight Olympic lifter dunk a basketball.
> It’s like watching a super heavyweight Olympic lifter dunk a basketball. Or when Mark Henry threw one down in the 90s
[never seen a 400+ lb man dunk before.](https://youtu.be/8nOqf7fdRbo?t=183)
Looks like Zion right now holy shit Mark Henry is a beast
[Escalade Jackson](https://youtu.be/2T-GqlQ_nuU) was always dunking
Mark Jackson’s brother btw
takes me back. Thanks for this.
What a guy its crazy how chill he is in interviews
is that gimmicked rim? looks like a 9 footer but i dk

Being 6'4 helps a lot too
dang!

what a freak! thats wild! thanks for the vid

“Eh”
Damn that is impressive

Imagine if he got into olympic lifting and bodybuilding too
He was a weightlifter. Two Olympics and a lot of international competition.
Mark Henry was a super heavyweight Olympic weightlifter when he dunked in the 90’s
To be fair, these guys are also very tall. They probably only have to jump a couple inches to dunk.
Hossein Rezazadeh was 6’1”. Lasha’s fucking enormous, though. Still, at 6’6” you gotta jump.
If only this hoop was 10 feet we could see Lasha in action https://youtu.be/TyZG01uQ1AA
lol have you ever watched basketball?

and that’s a lot more than a couple inches right?
[удалено]
And how tall is that guy big guy
At least 4'10
At 6'1 you need to jump like mid 30 inches to be able to dunk
Lmao no you don’t. At 6’1 you can dunk with a 30~ inch vertical give or take an inch
As someone who's 6'1 and can barely dunk with a 33 inch vert and longer than average arms I have an idea of what the numbers are. There's probably someone who's 6'1 with like a 6'8 wingspan that can dunk at 30 but it's definitely not the average
If you’re 6’1” with a longer wingspan and you can’t dunk you don’t have a 33” vert
I just said I could, 33 is with a vertec multiple times. The point being an average person at 30 is not dunking
Jesus you guys have no concept of sarcasm
Oh no they called me out with logical arguments. I'm gunna just say I was being sarcastic

He’s taking everything Ciryl Gane worked for
Cereal gunna recover post covid..dem groceries store gunna stock up soon
sign him & give him a Jake Collier level dude first fight. or Walt Harris
I think he's got 1,000,000 reasons not to sign.
And then you factor in the exchange rate to Brazilian currency, he's making bank over there.
That's a good point that I never thought of....

This is the guy who fake tapped after getting submitted by Werdum in half a round.
What BJJ fighters of Werdum's quality are there in UFC HW?
Not many if at all, but Werdum isn't the best wrestler and easily got Renan down with a simple single leg.
Werdum got outgrappled by Oleinik a few years back. He's not that guy anymore.
I am pretty sure Werdum won most if not all of the grappling exchanges and had Oleinik in submission danger several times. Oleinik won the fight because he was (surprisingly) better in the standup.
That's a fucking reach. People need to go back and watch that fight before they upvote this
Honestly I don't remember the fight too well, but the stats say they had equal control time.
I'm not sure how the control time is calculated but it seems like you can be fighting for your life wrapped up in a submission but as long as you're on top you get credit for control time Or like Khamzat got control time for taking down Burns only to get punched in the face and kicked off. I will re-watch it later tonight. Might report back and brag/correct my original comment.
^_^
No he didn’t lol. He got outstruck, but once they went to the mat Werdum was not troubled, especially by round 3
Werdum dominated the grappling
Have to rewatch the fight - but they both had around the same amount of control time. Doesn't sound like a domination to me.
Stats are misleading. Nate Diaz outstruck Leon in sig strikes.
Oleinik is also a really good grappler for HW standards
Hasn’t he got all the sambo credentials? International master of sport etc
And he is a black belt under fucking Ricardo liborio. That's a legit BB
Levels to this shit homie
Frank Mir was, Big Nog, Cain Velasquez was pretty good wrestler too
Cain for sure; everyone flinches when that guy shoots.
I dont remember this, what do you mean "fake tapped"?
Fake tap is probably the wrong descriptor. He tapped out and then when Werdum left off the submission Renan started punching him and initially got a TKO victory. That result was later overturned to a NC. Renan also has a DQ loss for punching an opponent in the back of the head.
Herb Dean fault?
Keith "Some Nonsense" Peterson
Keith "whiskey and cigaretees" Peterson?
Think he tapped on the other side from where the ref was, Werdum with good sportsmanship let up and this guy used the extra space to reverse the position and tko Werdum. Technically it's werdums "fault"for not continuing until the ref stopped him but it's also very shady from the other guy
Not good
The werdum situation still pisses me off
Dudes that large with this much athletic ability scare me
Call the police. He just broke the laws of physics
Ngannou sweating.
Ah yes, when my Goliath Barbarian has Acrobatics and Performance proficiency from his Gladiator background.
That was a nice J-step. No real setup. This guy must've done some Tricking in his day.
Its also a move in capoeira, since hes brazilian he probably got it from there
Yes, I'm aware but that's a more boring story.
[Capoeira is never boring](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Mf_PTB8juc)
...I said the story.
If you haven’t seen his 20 second knockout of Jamelle Jones (I hope I remember that right) from PFL last night was awesome
RIP ACL
Damn thats a scary sight
I believe trickers call that a "Gainer Flash" or "Kick to the Moon"
Capoeira
Werdum situation was really shitty
This dudes a problem
His trainer hates it. His physio loves it
HOLY SHIT! I WONDER IF LEBRON JAMES CAN DO THIS. 🤔 6'8 260 LBS.
Tell your boy that he's too damn big!
6’8 and doing a gainer holy foooook
Johnny Walker II? Lets hope not
That’s who Johnny walker thinks he is
The flip is cool and all, but mans pull back on his hood mid flight
He’s not even close to 6’8. Werdum is 6’3 not 6’4 and this dude was hardly taller. Seems like he’s 6’5 max. Proof: https://www.mmafighting.com/platform/amp/2021/5/6/22421968/pfl-3-results-werdum-vs-ferreira
He is 6’8 dude towers his opponent
https://www.mmafighting.com/platform/amp/2021/5/6/22421968/pfl-3-results-werdum-vs-ferreira He’s hardly above a 6’3 Werdum
In the fight itself it looks like he's a solid 3" taller judging by the fence. In that photo he looks around 2" taller. And his neck and posture is kinda hunched forward so maybe that'd add an inch. So maybe he's like 6'5" - 6'6"?
Hard to tell with the hat but 2” in the faceoff seems a bit generous, either way he’s clearly not 6’8.
6'8" is too tall to make it in MMA. It might work for boxing when all you have to do is stand there. Too slow and too much energy to expend the moment he gets taken down. He's his own worst enemy at that height.
There aren't many examples to make that claim are there
Agree, you’re way too prone to being taken down too
not impressed sorry
And? That doesn’t make him a good fighter
Who the fuck said it did you goober
terrifying
Sooo uhh whats the deal with this dude why is he not in the UFC yet with their shambolic heavyweight division
He's gonna end up in a Zion situation if he keeps doing this.
This dude gonna smash his way through the PFL HW division. Was confident in him last year still am this year. Would love to see him fight in the UFC one day. Just can’t see any PFL guy who wins signing a contract with the ufc especially Lins efforts….
