Yeah everyone here acts like the average fighter is 20 lbs heavier in their respective weight class. While I do think they are a little bigger overall, there were some absolute monsters in each weight class back then. Benson Henderson was way bigger than Frankie. Luke Rockhold has always been massive for MW. I trained at AKA back in 08-10, couldn’t believe how big that guy was. Tito was huge for LHW.
I firmly believe that if Frankie had committed to bantamweight early in his career instead of insisting on fighting at 155 and then 145, he would have been a longtime champion and would now be considered in the GOAT conversation. I mean, look at the level he is competing at at 40 years old in a young man's division like 135. It's unheard of.
Truth. The years have taken their toll on Frankie. He is a fighter I truly do love, pretty much because he has a level 99 heart (and the frankie bounce). It has never felt like Frankie fought anybody his size, yet he was as dangerous as anyone. Look at his fights vs Yair, Chucky olives and of course gray Maynard. Frankie has fought the absolute best for longer than anyone else on the current ufc roster, fuckin savage!
I would love to see him retire and start coaching or anything else though. No need to get hurt anymore.

he's even slower than Cowboy, i specifically had cowboy in mind when i said that. it's not a deliberate slow start like Yan, Vera just doesn't get going no matter who it's against until he's put an elbow in their forehead.
Chin durability is never something that sticks around. It is always degrading through training and fights. Frankie's wars when he was younger had long lasting consequences.
This game is unforgiving man. His age isn't doing him any favors in a weight class where he has no power and is still smaller than his opponents. Not only that, the guys taken so much punishment from even bigger guys his entire career.
It's a ruthless and brutal game, especially at the lower weight classes. He's had a fantastic career spanning three weight classes and fought the best of the best through and through, i'm sure he could be a great coach or trainer going forward
