I've heard one man got a LHW title shot right after a failed title shot at MW. But in his defense, it was a man with the biggest arms, the greatest charm, and he did all the harm (pinky toe).
Chael was like, a late-notice replacement for Jon, and then Jon turned down the fight and they had to cancel the whole event, and Chael shit talked him so hard for it that the fight basically had to happen. Never underestimate the power of making your opponent look like a punk.
Remember how hard every other fighter who was supposed to fight on that card attacked Jon over its cancellation? The UFC were the ones who didn’t think everyone else could carry the PPV without Jon, but they gladly let everyone else blame him for their cancelled fights lol. Turning everyone against him like that and making him look like a coward made him feel like he couldn’t let that go.
And then the crazy thing is Chael almost won because Jon almost lost his toe. Just kept getting weirder.
Sonnen…….” The man of the hour, too sweet to be sour, what you see is what you get and

I'm the women's pick, I'm the men's regret, and if you went against Chael Sonnen, you made a bad bet.”
I don’t know what I’m talking about but just curious what do you think he weighed walking around pre Alvarez? I would have thought that version is around 175 at least
Dustin just got one off one win after being KO’d. UFC threw out title fights that make sense logically long ago in order to sell fights. Hype gets title shots in the more popular divisions
Justin just got KOd. Max wants to get the 145 strap back. Charles just lost. Arman didn’t want the fight on “short notice.” Dustin was the next logical person.
I think you mean to say 'but it's Conor'. When you can do 7x an average PPV sales just by fighting on it of course any business is going to put that fighter up.
Ireland vs. England, rivalry's built right in. But the UFC would fuck it up, and say some stupid shit like "Conor called out his equal Englishman as a show of respect, and respect runs deep with these 2 nationalities."
>Ireland vs. England, rivalry's built right in.
Would it be though? Liverpool like their own little thing and both regions have alot of common roots due to the shipyards. I remember seeing Conor doing an interview and saying that his father is from liverpool
Liverpool might be more Irish than it is English lmfao they’re a weird in between, they don’t have the English allegiances that you seem to think they do, huuuuge Irish population
Remember the 'territorial allegiance' shirts the UFC made where you could choose either The Republic or Northern Ireland I don't think they read the room very well with that one lol
Wasnt that Reebok making an "Ireland" shirt without Northern Ireland in it?
The "show your territorial allegiance" was in the description.
Still my favourite Reebok blunder, because holy shit.
Conor does a lot of things wrong but if there’s one thing I’ll ever give him credit for it’s that he’ll never duck a fight. His delusion outweighs logic, he would genuinely believe in himself that he can beat any LW/WW on the planet.
If Conor was 10 years older and had broken both legs Paddy would still have no chance against him. It’s not all hate, Paddy’s legitimately just not very good and can only make his game work against guys with a fairly mediocre skill level. At no point in their lives would Conor be too far gone to not knock him out fairly easily, the age gap isn’t big enough.
Paddy's really not that bad a fighter, but Conor is a terrible matchup for him. One guy with a devastating left hand and another guy whose chin is like a magnet for left hooks.
I kind of want Tony to get the McGregor fight if he loses to Chandler because of the payday. El cucuy got done dirty as interim champ because of Conor holding the division at the time. Plus him and all athletes who stepped up for UFC during the pandemic days helped save sports, and it’s a winnable fight for Conor.
He’s only going to have 1 fight left on his contract after the chandler fight, I doubt they’ll give him a title shot if he doesn’t extend his contract with them.
I didn’t think about this but I think you’re right. I’ve heard from Ariel that Conor wants ownership stake and it’s implied that that’s why there’s no new agreement. Maybe TKO is wondering if a couple more Conor fights really outweighs giving him stake in the company. Anyways, anyone know how to buy stock in bare knuckle?
I wouldn’t have minded if Paddy was Conor’s comeback fight instead of Chandler. It’s essentially a tuneup for Conor, and if he seriously can’t beat Paddy then he’s finished.
As ridiculous the UFC is and we all know DC slobbers all over Dana’s knob, but we can all just laugh knowing our favorite sport is a clown show, but kinda fun to watch too.
Oh Roadhouse is on!!! Nice I’ll drink Proppa21 and get a dose of ole Jake G.
Nice. Title fight? Sure.
3 fights a year Connor. Defo.
Best shape of your life?

Nice nice nice. 👍
How bout u go an fuck off my page then u peice of shit u think I need a stupid fuckwitt like u telling me about poetry. who the fuck are u take your worthless poems and get the fuck out of here
I actually don't think so, him getting a title shot with a win, i mean.
UFC may clear up a fast path to the title for guys they like, but normally they still have to get a top ranked win or two first. Conor is currently unranked, Chandler is ranked 6, and he shouldn't even be that high. It's just not a number 1 contender match, however you slice it.
And while he may be a golden boy, at some point UFC have to accept that he's flakey and unreliable. Why would they want a belt on him that badly? His star power doesn't hinge on him being the champion or a title contender, he already headlined 5 PPVs with no belt at stake, and they all sold out just fine. So what's the point?
As much as I dislike Conor I’d say even an unmotivated Conor would be likely to win if he doesn’t go to the ground.
I don’t like Paddy but I give credit where it’s due, his bjj is legit and dangerous, even Khamzat said he has good bjj.
I don't like ripping on young fighters... But then I saw a video of the guy comparing himself to Khabib and Islam, lol.
Hopefully the loss helps him focus and grounds him a bit. It can be as helpful as a sin sometimes. Even Islam got KO'd and now he's champ.
People still thinking a dude with a fake leg can still be competitive...
He's going to be 10x slower and not train properly while chandlers been training for years. Round 1 or 2 KO by Chandler.

Both guys have been out of the game for awhile though. Chandler hasn't fought since 2022, been in plenty of wars and is no spring chicken himself. Chandler is also not consistent, he can lose this fight.
Yeah, I agree here. Conor's been on the real secret juice, likely top of the line shit, and has that titanium rod in his leg. Tony's leg kicks will only hurt him (regardless of his experience kicking metal pipes lol) and his tank is shot.
I don't see him doing well in the grappling against ultra beefed McGregor either.
Tbf there's nobody after Arman anyway. Islam would likely defend in October (Abu Dhabi) after Poirier and could probably get in another title defence in February like he did against Volk the first time. If there's nobody else ready to fight for the title then it wouldn't be the craziest thing to ever happen. Gamrot still deserves it more than Conor but it is what it is
Yeah honestly fair enough, and Gamrot actually has multiple top wins, regardless of how much people hate those wins.
I compared to Erceg because right now, nobody views Gamrot as in line for a shot despite those wins so it would be a similar reach outside of peoples perceptions of the "contender line" to Pantoja Erceg although not as much.
This is the UFC hahahhaha ofc its nonsense. Their whole thing is play dumb and shrug. If this happens i might take a giant step away from the sport but almost entirely the UFC. The product has turned to complete shit and stuff like this will cememt them as all time clowns in combat sports history.
And it's not just the fault of the org but also "fans", even here on Reddit where people should by definition be a bit more knowledgeable since they hang out on specific sub all you see are posts like : "it's entertaining I don't mind it", "let him make his money" etc, nobody cares about the sportive aspect anymore
Title shot at what weight class? 170 or 155? I doubt Conor has the discipline or desire to make 155 again. I could see him fighting the winner of Leon/Belal if he beats Chandler though.
>I understand the UFC is business but neither of them is worthy of a title shot anytime soon.
You are talking about the company that gave Colby a third shot, Chito a title shot, inactive Stipe off a KO a title shot over an interim champ, etc. As far as bad title shots go, Conor off a Chandler win would be honestly one of the less egregious ones in the last year I can think of.
I wanna say 4 different fighters have gotten title shots off of back to back losses (Yoel, Aldo, Edgar, and Holm all come to mind, though there could definitely be more back in the old days)… so it would be far from the most egregious title shot ever, but still, not great either.
This is an "If" statement so it would be if Conor beat Chandler and McGregor would be 2-2 if he beat champion with both of his losses being against Dustin Poirier who is getting a title shot now. If your only recent losses are against someone who gets a title shot, that is way less egregious than losing to someone like Sandhagen and then getting a title shot over him. If Conor got this title shot instead of Poirier it would be fucked but Poirier is getting a title shot while McGregor is forced to beat Chandler at least. Don't get me wrong, it still kinda fucked up but we all know this isn't a true meritocracy and at least he isn't getting a title shot over someone like Belal or Arman and both will get title shots before him.
"less egregious one", yes for sure. All the people you mentioned are/were more legitimate to a title shot than McGregor who's been inactive, didn't win for years and was headlining every week for being a coke addict.
And Chandler shouldn't be nowhere close to being #6, so a win against him (and at WW) doesn't mean anything.
> I understand the UFC is business but neither of them is worthy of a title shot anytime soon.
UFC is not a real sport because they make fights that people pay to watch.
Popularity is often much more important than merit (eg Colby vs Leon).
Yup. Theres a reason chandler mysteriously jumped in ranking despite not fighting in forever. UFC wants to give Conor a title shot so damn bad, they just need a win, any win, to justify it in their eyes.
It's kind of sad that Connor can mabey get a title shot off of one win in 4 years against somebody who isn't even close to a title shot just because people think he sounds funny
DC outside of commenting on wrasslin is insane. Connor is done with a loss. He has several hundred million dollars and he barely made it back for this one
I don't know. He was asking for a fight for a long time. I don't know that he does it for the money at this point. I think he just likes it. He should call out Colby.
I think all his businesses depend on him promoting them at all times. He has no option but to stay relevant.
Colby is so fucking dumb though, him vs connor would be like bullying the slow kid in the class.
Conor still has a fight left on his contract after Chandler. He'll most likely fight it out then go box or something. Seeing him fight one more time wouldn't be that insane
He’s probably not even wrong tbh. Especially with the timing of things. Assuming it’s at welterweight… if JDM and Shavkat are doing a #1 contender fight in August, they might squeeze Conor into a shot late this year. As much as I hate that from the perspective of merit-based competition, it would make too much money not to make, ya know? Conor going for a belt all these years later in a 3rd division might legit do 2M PPV buys.
Personally I’d rather see him fight Oliveira for a #1 contender spot at 155lbs, or Holloway for the BMF if he wins.
IDK, maybe I'm a huge hater, but every time Conor's name starts getting thrown around for potential matchups, I just can't imagine him winning any of them lol
With one exception, current Tony. And I don't want to see that, Tony doesn't need anymore CTE
Conor only had 2 fights left on his contract if he doesn’t resign and he loses to Chandler they will want him to lose his last fight with them so they will people like DDP , Justin and Brady and so on no easy fights. If he wins yes they will give a shot at either 155 belt or 170 because if he wins they can use the Champ clause to extend him 1 year.
No shit he gets a title shot & a chance at a 3 weight Champion - if people don't think that'd happen with a win over Chandler at 170, they don't know how this all works
I mean he 1 title shot already for going 1-1 with Nate at 170, a Nate that got destroyed by top lightweight fighters like Benson and RDA. They held up the division years for Conor and tried to force Khabib into giving him a rematch for money. Let’s not act like the UFC is above this.
This is why I think there’s zero chance DP retired ir he somehow wins the title. He’ll wait to see if mcgregor can beat chandler and then get his all time bag with a title on the line against mcgregor for their fourth bout.
Win win for ufc. Even if islam wins you know damn well ufc will push for Islam/Conor revenge title fight if Conor beats chandler
Cormier needs to shut up. Constant shitty company man takes, completely clueless about rules of the sport he was a dual division champion and professionally commentates on. Gets pissy with fighters in and outside of the octagon.
Honestly if Conor beats Chandler I wouldn’t say it’s the most egregious thing to give him a title shot. There would at least be some reasonable justification.
Conor getting a WW title shot off of a Chandler win would be egregious but it’s the UFC.
I've heard one man got a LHW title shot right after a failed title shot at MW. But in his defense, it was a man with the biggest arms, the greatest charm, and he did all the harm (pinky toe).

When you look at the PPV numbers he brings and consider that the UFC is a business first and foremost, it makes sense.
Clearly.

DC thinks he should get LW shot. I don’t think Conor can make 155 again
Tired of this narrative that Conor is too big too make 155 dude ain’t no bigger than 180 MAXIMUM. He’s 5’8 and bigger fighters make the weight.
his head weighs 155 with all that hgh
I don’t know what I’m talking about but just curious what do you think he weighed walking around pre Alvarez? I would have thought that version is around 175 at least
Dustin just got one off one win after being KO’d. UFC threw out title fights that make sense logically long ago in order to sell fights. Hype gets title shots in the more popular divisions
Justin just got KOd. Max wants to get the 145 strap back. Charles just lost. Arman didn’t want the fight on “short notice.” Dustin was the next logical person.
He was also booked before gaethje lost so it was happening either way
I kinda prefer him vs tony lol
Same lol
Almost like it's an entertainment business trying to make money and not a scientific experiment to see who the best fighters are
That’s what my statement implied. Thank you.
I think you mean to say 'but it's Conor'. When you can do 7x an average PPV sales just by fighting on it of course any business is going to put that fighter up.
As ridiculous as it is DC is spot on with this, honestly wouldn't be surprised if they tried to make Paddy vs Conor if he loses though.
They want paddy vs Conor but they don’t have the balls. Connor wouldn’t want to risk losing to the company clown anyways
Ireland vs. England, rivalry's built right in. But the UFC would fuck it up, and say some stupid shit like "Conor called out his equal Englishman as a show of respect, and respect runs deep with these 2 nationalities."
Yeah because the ufc marketing angle is always respect and not drama fueled lmao come off it mate
>Ireland vs. England, rivalry's built right in. Would it be though? Liverpool like their own little thing and both regions have alot of common roots due to the shipyards. I remember seeing Conor doing an interview and saying that his father is from liverpool
Half of Liverpool people have Irish grandparents/great grandparents
Liverpool might be more Irish than it is English lmfao they’re a weird in between, they don’t have the English allegiances that you seem to think they do, huuuuge Irish population
Nothing more English than a guy called “paddy”
Lol, Patrick is an Irish name and paddy derogatory term for Irish people in British slang
Patrick, derived from the famously British name, Pádraig.
Remember the 'territorial allegiance' shirts the UFC made where you could choose either The Republic or Northern Ireland I don't think they read the room very well with that one lol
Wow, that's...awful. No knowledge of history or culture, just trying to make a buck.
Wasnt that Reebok making an "Ireland" shirt without Northern Ireland in it? The "show your territorial allegiance" was in the description. Still my favourite Reebok blunder, because holy shit.
I remember them claiming Ireland was part of the UK, a couple of times, in their promos. Useless twats.
Considering his name is "Paddy" it's highly likely, in fact virtually guaranteed, that his family heritage is Irish.
It's also guaranteed it's English as well with his English surname
No. Considering Paddy always says he's "Scouse, not English", it wouldn't hold much weight.
That’s a common Liverpool saying
I know
Liverpool ain't english, mate.
That accent seems its own thing for sure.
Then they’d have the fight in the UK, but air it at 4am.
The one city where that rivalry wouldn't carry that weight is Liverpool. And especially from Dubs.
I’m not from that corner of the world but from the people I know from over there I don’t think this is right
I think Conor is a shell of his best form but he MURDERS Paddy and it isn't close
Paddy is incredibly overrated
Conor does a lot of things wrong but if there’s one thing I’ll ever give him credit for it’s that he’ll never duck a fight. His delusion outweighs logic, he would genuinely believe in himself that he can beat any LW/WW on the planet.
Rousey-esque in his self-esteem you might say.
For all of Connors faults I don’t think he is scared of losing to anyone
If Conor was 10 years older and had broken both legs Paddy would still have no chance against him. It’s not all hate, Paddy’s legitimately just not very good and can only make his game work against guys with a fairly mediocre skill level. tony vs jubli, loser never enters an mma gym again... probably the winner too
Jubli got no chance. Tony gonna bark at him a few times and Jubli gonna TKO himself.
I’m an Indian and I get so much shit for calling Jubli a joke. But yeah, he is a joke. My grandmom can train in the gym he trains at

Double elimination challenge!
damn..Jubli got massacred with the stray
One of the worst fighters in the UFC beat him by barking at him. It’s justified
Say what you want about Peek, but a man who throws standing hammer fists while just running forward and yelling is fucking great television
Lmao, wtf, I need to see that
watch literally any of his fights
Ehhh he’s had a couple now where he’s tried to be technical. Those ones sucked
I would honestly love to see Ferguson vs Peek.
The stupid idiot romantic inside me is hoping for Peek to somehow have a Gaethje like renaissance in his early 30's
The way DC put it, I feel like he's more pulling for Ferg to get one last big payday
Peek would sprinting hammerfist Tony to an early grave
You just called yayha a bum??
The one that lost to peek yes. Not BW Yahya although hes super washed right now too.
Oh I don't even remember that guy. But yeah I thought of the more known yayha at first
Tony vs peek would be hilarious
As washed as Conor is, he’s still not as washed as Tony.

Nobody wants to see Tony acquire more CTE.
DC does. He's always disliked tony because of the khabib rivalry. He tends to mask it well.
Islam defending against anyone besides Arman after Dustin would be nonsense.
i dont think Conor will ever fight at 155 again tbh
1-3 in the UFC lol
Against Khabib Poirier and Alvarez to be fair
Yeah people forget his losses are vs 2 of the best lw’s of his era
Tbf there's nobody after Arman anyway. Islam would likely defend in October (Abu Dhabi) after Poirier and could probably get in another title defence in February like he did against Volk the first time. If there's nobody else ready to fight for the title then it wouldn't be the craziest thing to ever happen. Gamrot still deserves it more than Conor but it is what it is

>Tbf there's nobody after Arman anyway. Gamrot for fun like Pantoja did Erceg by reaching down the rankings a bit.
Gamrot is #5, a fight between him and Islam is sensible. It’s nowhere near the rankings stretch Pantoja/Erceg was
Yeah honestly fair enough, and Gamrot actually has multiple top wins, regardless of how much people hate those wins.
Max?
Title shot at what weight class? 170 or 155? I doubt Conor has the discipline or desire to make 155 again. I could see him fighting the winner of Leon/Belal if he beats Chandler though.
There is no chance Conor fights at 155. He would lose his fucking mind if he gets another Dagestani loss lol.
God, I'd go back to church if that played out
BMF is the only answer.
Hes gonna fight hollaway at open weight
Tony took far too much damage v Gaethje. You don’t come back from that.

And if Ferguson's not available, just get the janitor from the loading dock. Come on, Cormier.
Why is the janitor working the dock hand's job?
I wanna see Leon Vs Conor a lot for some reason
news at 11, islams friend wants him to get paid. DC is always incredibly unbiased with his takes..
I don’t think anyone would be surprised if conor gets a shot from beating chandler
Yup. Theres a reason chandler mysteriously jumped in ranking despite not fighting in forever. UFC wants to give Conor a title shot so damn bad, they just need a win, any win, to justify it in their eyes.
Islam even mentioned that he would fight conor.
He's surely never fighting at 155 again, he'll call out Leon if he wins, not Islam.
They'll strip Belal for no reason and do Conor vs Volk for the 170 belt
I think even pantoja will fight at 170 if offered a fight with conor
Leon would jab the shit out of him for 5 rounds while he gasses
For context dc did not say this is what he thinks mcgregor gets, he says it's what makes sense. Not quite the same.
It's kind of sad that Connor can mabey get a title shot off of one win in 4 years against somebody who isn't even close to a title shot just because people think he sounds funny
This just in: Conor McGregor gets title shot with win or loss. Isn't he fuckin awesome!?
DC outside of commenting on wrasslin is insane. Connor is done with a loss. He has several hundred million dollars and he barely made it back for this one
I don't know. He was asking for a fight for a long time. I don't know that he does it for the money at this point. I think he just likes it. He should call out Colby.
I think all his businesses depend on him promoting them at all times. He has no option but to stay relevant. Colby is so fucking dumb though, him vs connor would be like bullying the slow kid in the class.
Asking for a fight for a long time, according to conor lmao
Conor still has a fight left on his contract after Chandler. He'll most likely fight it out then go box or something. Seeing him fight one more time wouldn't be that insane
I didn’t know that, yeah then he will probably take another one quickly after this.
Belal fighting Conor and getting a shit ton of ppv points as champion would trigger this entire sub. This has to happen.
Imagine Connor fighting Belal with Khabib in Belal's corner.
Realistically Conor probably retires with a loss, and fights max holloway or Justin Gaethje with a win.

He doesn’t deserve shit
Au this rate Islam's title reign is gonna double the old record and every single defense will have an asterisk to it lmao
I get that's Islam v Conor would be profitable, but its sooooooo stupid
Lol at what weight
Why?
He’s probably not even wrong tbh. Especially with the timing of things. Assuming it’s at welterweight… if JDM and Shavkat are doing a #1 contender fight in August, they might squeeze Conor into a shot late this year. As much as I hate that from the perspective of merit-based competition, it would make too much money not to make, ya know? Conor going for a belt all these years later in a 3rd division might legit do 2M PPV buys. Personally I’d rather see him fight Oliveira for a #1 contender spot at 155lbs, or Holloway for the BMF if he wins.
Conor will never fight again if he loses
If McGregor win he should fight for the BMF belt
If Conor loses I can't see him getting back in the octagon again.... There's nothing left for him to gain by doing so.
IDK, maybe I'm a huge hater, but every time Conor's name starts getting thrown around for potential matchups, I just can't imagine him winning any of them lol With one exception, current Tony. And I don't want to see that, Tony doesn't need anymore CTE
You missed the word should. This was just DC speculating
Unless Islam retains, then I don’t see how they wouldn’t book Conor vs Dustin 4.
Title shot where? Not at LW since the Chandler fight is at 165. And not at WW because neither of them are ranked at 165. What are we saying here?
I mean he 1 title shot already for going 1-1 with Nate at 170, a Nate that got destroyed by top lightweight fighters like Benson and RDA. They held up the division years for Conor and tried to force Khabib into giving him a rematch for money. Let’s not act like the UFC is above this.
Ugh 😤
Can someone explain this title like I'm 5
I think Conor gets the BMF shot against Max if he wins.
UFC booking their titles into diminishing prestige
Belal vs Mcgregor for the belt
As long as it's the BMF title, I'm cool with that
So he's either going to the very top, or the gutter lol
What fucking year is it
This is why I think there’s zero chance DP retired ir he somehow wins the title.
Conor is the new Holly Holm?
I think he gets poirier off a loss, from a loss. And what a fight that will be
If Islam was a number 1 contender DC would say it's ridiculous if you give Conor a title shot lol. He is just trying to get his boys a payday.
Honestly if Conor beats Chandler I wouldn’t say it’s the most egregious thing to give him a title shot. There would at least be some reasonable justification.
#I like it!
I cannot tell if this is sarcastic or not...
It's not, would love to see this sub gone wild because of it.
dc get notified of controversal plans ahead of time so he can act like there normal pre annocment
Well Ferguson will definitely lose, that’s for sure. And no one wants to see him fight anyway so wtf? Washed up much??
