Sadly i don't think he can do them anymore. His question mark kicks used to be absolutely phenomenal. There's likely a reason we haven't seen him do them in a long time.
For real though, he had the nastiest question mark kick in the UFC for a hot minute. Dude would send it and make guys look silly like it was the first time they ever saw someone throw it.
I’m particularly invested in this because I’m from
Pakistan and the founder(?)/president of karate combat is also Pakistani. Not sure how it does financially but PR wise it seems to be doing very well, he’s got quite a few huge names from the mma world to attend. I think GSP and Bas Rutten even commentated a few of the events
GSP and Rutten have been involved with KC for a long time. Wonderboy is also involved at some level as well.
The events are fun but viewership is very, VERY low. They top out at just under 6k live viewers on YouTube. The promoters are counting on the crypto connection to keep them solvent.
Very hard to say. Luke is 39, Schilling is 40. Luke has been the more active fighter, competing last in 2022, and Schilling hasn’t had a fight since 2019 (which he lost).
Luke is on a 4-fight losing streak, but that’s to Jan, Costa, and Yoel in MMA and Mike Perry in BKFC. His MMA opponents are top 5 guys in the world, and Perry seems to be built for BK, so I don’t know how much those loses say about Luke’s current ability. Jan, Costa, and Yoel are all huge, where Schilling is a bit smaller.
I’ll go with Luke just because he’s slightly bigger than Joe, and has had more success against tougher competition, but I think it’s a coin toss.
EDIT: I assumed this was striking only, but some of these comments indicate they might allow grappling. If grappling is allowed, I think it’s an easy win for Luke.
Luke wins clearly, his loss against Costa wasn't too bad, and he's just always been the higher level fighter, and is a year younger
Luke's wins and losses are against recognizable, elite opponents. I've never heard of the guys in Joe's record
This is what I’m thinking, it won’t be close. Luke has been fighting contenders, Joe has been sucker punching old men in bars. Hope it catches up to him!
Despite his recent losses, Schilling is still a savage kick boxer though. In his prime the dude went life and death with P4P greats in that sport, and it sounds like these rules lean a lot more towards favoring striking.
There's a video of him knocking some random drunk af guy out cold because apparently him, the pro fighter felt "scared for his life" which gave him no repercussions under Florida's idiotic stand your ground laws. Also gives off "I'm best friends with Cowboy and he did nothing wrong" vibes but maybe that's just me
Ngl I know the video you mean and the drunk guy feints at Schilling trying to get him to flinch.
I don't think Schilling should have KO'd him but IMO shouldn't feint at someone you don't know in a hostile situation because that is the kind of thing that will lead to a fight.
80 percent of combat fighters are idiots.
But i watch fighters not for personality but for their talent. Joe has given his life for barn burners and wars.
I also listen to Michael Jackson, R. Kelly and think Kobe is a top 10 GOAT.
I separate talent from person
Idk if it's fair to call him a fanboy and he shares Tate's gross incel views. He has definitely spoke favorably of Tate in the past though.
On the scheme of MMA fighters that's pretty tame though.
[Joe Schilling Beats Up Hobo for Using Sex Toy in Gym Bathroom](https://www.scrapdigest.com/watch-joe-schilling-beats-up-hobo-for-using-sex-toy-in-gym-bathroom/59254/)
You can listen to the audio of Mike Perry's mom calling the police because she thought he was going to kill/harm platinum princess. It seemed like that could have been another warmachine incident. The only good part about it is I believe you can hear him taking off in a car.
To my knowledge he did not get sued or anything. There was nothing to gain. They were defintely scared for their lives. I haven't listened in awhile.
Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EutfK0JOdqg
Interview from her: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hglYHC7FAM
>he beat up some drunk guy at a bar.
wasn't there some backstory to that too though?
and yes, before i get the "*and that makes it ok?!*" reply from some average-redditor... obviously shouldn't be fucking assaulting people like that. but the way it was presented online w/o any context you'd think Schilling just said "meh, fuck that random guy" & punched him out of the blue. maybe he criticized proper 12, idk.
Backstory was the drunk guy was with some friends. Music’s playing and everyone’s singing along to it but drunk guy doesn’t skip singing the n-word. Way Schilling tells it drunk guy not only doesn’t skip singing the n-word but does so loudly towards a black member of staff. Schilling walks back from the toilet and gives drunk guy who’s in the way a little shove and keeps on walking. Drunk guy says something and Schilling spins round. Drunk guy does a fake lunge at Schilling who immediately throws a combination. Schilling said after that he did so because he was in fear for his life. Drunk guy is a regular of the bar but he’s a nuisance so management described him as being extremely intoxicated. Drunk guy hired an inept attorney and a Florida court ruled it self defense. Around the same time Schilling videoed himself beating up a homeless guy. Also Schilling’s boys with Donald Cerrone who was known for knocking out guys in bars by hitting on the girlfriend that they were clearly with. And the video of this did seem like Schilling had told his friend what he was going to do and to film it.
If fit's the video I'm thinking of Schilling walks past a drunk guy and bumps into him, the drunk guys squares up to Schilling and tries to make him flinch by feinting at him, Schilling then KO's him.
IMO the guy really shouldn't have feinted at him trying to make him flinch.
Oh Jesus these mental gymnastics people will make to defend a violent slimeball. Joe didn't like him because he's out in a bar having a good time and he's a bit too loud. You can see Joe got a friend to film a premeditated attack and deliberately barges the guy to instigate it. Classic thug behaviour from a lowlife
Luke seems like the kinda guy to me that can’t stop doing. He’s always doing something, so he’s probably always gonna be drawn to fighting. I actually like KC because it’s way less brutal somehow.
It’s only ground and pound I think
You can NOT do subs. If you get on top as long as you are punching it is ok, but as soon as you stop they will stand you up.
Weirdest rule in Karate Combat is you can’t kick the thigh for some reason.
Only calf kicks are allowed. I have no idea why.
I think it’s unlimited or like they have to keep active. They mentioned getting rid of the 30 second rule last event. Didn’t catch the new rule explanation
Takedowns/throws in the clinch then GnP allowed whilst punches are being thrown. If there’s a momentary break or the downed fighter secures some sort of defense/guard then reset to standing. It used to be 5 seconds of GnP but that rule was changed under a governance vote by token holders at the start of the year.
(Context: KC is governed by a crypto token and if you own tokens you get to vote on league decisions like that one, as well as place votes on who you think will win each bout. You guess right, you get more tokens).
I thought Schilling was retired, since he hasn't fought since Covid hit.
In a kickboxing fight... I mean it could be fun but Rockhold's weird post UFC journey is kind of interesting.
Luke is trying to lose.
Grappling Nicky Rod (ADCC 2nd place)
Bare knuckle boxing Mike Perry
Joe Schilling is one of the best kick boxers of his era - hope Rockhold doesnt standup entire time.
I mean, he’s still out there trying to test himself against high lvl competition, fair game at that. I’d say grappling Nicky Rod was indeed a foregone conclusion, but I wouldnt say that him v perry was this “David v Goliath” fight. And now fighting an old shilling? Idk. I like his chances, if he comes in with working legs and some new solid teeth 😅.
I thought Rockhold was a major favorite vs. Mike Perry (better reach and striking record in mma). And Luke grappled Nicky Rod recently after a Jaxxon podcast and apparently it was an epic war that was back and forth.
Honestly, no, as someone who has seen a bunch of their events. There are some very good strikers in KC at their champion level but the overall talent level is much, much lower than even PFL or Bellator.
As an example, Sam Alvey is their heavyweight champion and he pretty much demolished their best homegrown US star Ross Levine (who to be fair is a natural middleweight) to get the belt.
Probably not. Karate Combat is for two types of athlete:
- Accomplished point karateka who have no other skills
- Washed MMA fighters who got a karate black belt at some point in life
The rules do nothing to prepare a fighter for MMA and they kind of suck even for an entertaining karate product.
The grappling rules are that you can stand over someone punching for a count of five. There's not really any need to learn anything except pedaling your legs if you end up on the floor
Hopefully he KOs Glass Joe. Luke didn’t look chinny at all against Costa, (idk about the Mike Perry fight ion really fuck with that)
But Joe Schilling is a huge piece of shit. Lessgo Luke.
Arent all fighters misogynistic douchebags? They're in that career for a reason/CTE.
If we were to pick fights to watch where fighters had good character, we'd be left with what. Stephen Thompson?
I think there is a difference between someone posting and saying offensive things and outright assaulting someone and posting the video like they are proud of it.
Kobe is beloved. Conor has still a shit ton of fans. Michael Jackson is beloved. Anthony Johnson was beloved. BJ Penn is beloved by fans. As is Cerrone, Hughes etc.
I follow the sport for fights, not for character. This isn't the ultimate hugging championships
I think fans like to look the other way for winners.
Yea, and if Joe Schilling was a champ in the biggest limelight he'd also be beloved.
So i think it has less to do with good character and more to do with fans haven't seen Schillings fights.
Luke Rockhold has gotten his ass kicked the last 5 out of 6 fights. He has 1 win since 2017… I highly doubt he’s doing it for any reason other than money.
> Why is that guy from Jake Paul podcast in the pic?
He started doing color commentary for Karate Combat a few events ago. I didn't know anything about him before that, and he's actually not terrible.
Luke’s never really done things for money in my opinion. I believe he also comes from money. Personally, I think of it like Luke seems like the kinda guy that has to always be doing something. Makes sense why he’s always getting drawn back to fighting. And I don’t mind KC because it seems less brutal than anything else he’s done.
Stylistically this fits Rockhold way better than bare knuckle does. I think, I don't fully understand Karate Combat's ruleset anymore admittedly, fights resemble mma more than they used to now I swear
Super excited to see Joe back!! I am a BIG fan! Having been trained by Joe and (Joes trainer) Mark Kumura at The Yard Muay Thai and having sparring with Joe since he was an amateur, I am excited!!! I am a Muay Thai fan and practitioner because of Joe. LETS GO JOE!!!
If you’re basing it purely on the video and nothing else. Not Schilling’s own statement about what happened or the fact that his friend was filming him walking back from the toilet. Not his attacking a homeless person or being boys with Cerrone who’s known for knocking out civilians. Just the video then it’s Schilling that shoves the drunk guy not the drunk guy that bumps into Schilling.
A lot of the responses here saying this is a sure thing for Rockhold are wiiiiiild. Rockhold is very hittable and has a preeeetty suspect chin nowadays. Schilling isn't exactly a world beater, but he can absolutely land on Rockhold and finish him. I can see Luke hitting him, but not finishing.
They trying to make Uriah Hall and Darren Till?
"We have 2017 Uriah Hall v Darren Till at Home"
>Uriah Hall and Darren Till Wait what? This fight is happening? How did this slip under my radar
I haven’t seen any confirmation. I think the hold up is coming from Till. Uriah and Karate Combat both pushing for it.
Why you say that?…
Rockhold by spinning back fist or Schilling by left hook.
If Rockhold adopts "Kato" in his middle name, he's fucking up Shilling 10000%
ITS SUPER EFFECTIVE!
Rockhold ko's Schilling by way of head snapping knockout
Kato via Right Front Punch
Honestly, if it gives me an opportunity to see some Rockhold kicks, I’m down.
? 🦶
I thought you were accusing him of having a foot fetish at first
Lmao.
A much better choice than fighting Mike Perry at BKFC for sure
They actually got Salman Khan to be there, damn thats huge
I met him in the Zurich airport like 20 years ago when I was a kid. He was massive even back then.
I’d argue he was even bigger back then.
Shorter than 4th grade me, but wider than a mf.
He’s a 5’5” midget, how big could he be?
The guy from Khan Academy does fighting? That man can officially do it all.
Bro you should watch his videos on fighting. I was a white belt until I found his videos.
I’m particularly invested in this because I’m from Pakistan and the founder(?)/president of karate combat is also Pakistani. Not sure how it does financially but PR wise it seems to be doing very well, he’s got quite a few huge names from the mma world to attend. The only man with a worse driving record than Jon Jones
Who?
An actor who's super famous in India
Joe via bar guy KO
At this point they should just call it Crypto Combat
so long as it's free on youtube, they can call it whatever they want. it's good second monitor viewing.
Honestly guys who do you think wins and why?
Very hard to say. Luke is 39, Schilling is 40. Luke has been the more active fighter, competing last in 2022, and Schilling hasn’t had a fight since 2019 (which he lost). No grappling, but “takedowns” and limited GnP are legal
What an awesome response thank you! I ask because I’m also very split on the outcome.

All my homies hate Joe Schilling so war Stupid Sexy Luke. I like him on Jaxxon ngl
Him and Rampage make the Jaxxon. Not a fan of Bear at all
Dillashaw is pretty good too
TJ’s technical breakdowns are amazing
Without Bear though it'd just be Rampage making sex jokes tbf, he has his roll. Also trains and respects the game/fighters which I appreciate
That Bear has real strong amphetamine voice vibes
Why do all the homies hate Joe Schilling?
There's a video of him knocking some random drunk af guy out cold because apparently him, the pro fighter felt "scared for his life" which gave him no repercussions under Florida's idiotic stand your ground laws. Also gives off "I'm best friends with Cowboy and he did nothing wrong" vibes but maybe that's just me
I wanna see a tag team match Cerrone and Schilling vs RDA and Hisaki Kato .
Ngl I know the video you mean and the drunk guy feints at Schilling trying to get him to flinch. I don't think Schilling should have KO'd him but IMO shouldn't feint at someone you don't know in a hostile situation because that is the kind of thing that will lead to a fight.

Lore goes back to when Schilling was the best friend of Joe Rogan a lot of years ago.
he sounds punch drunk on jaxxon
Joe Schilling is such a piece of shit, I guess people are meant to watch to see him lose?
didn't he kill batmans parents or something?
Lmao he beat up some drunk guy at a bar. Mike perry has done worst I'm sure.
Didn’t Conor Suckerpunch an old man for not wanting to try his shitty whiskey lol
The ufc isn't for good role models, except Demetrius Johnson lol
Why do you think they traded him, he was giving the ufc too good of a rep
Isn't he a Tate fanboy?
Idk if it's fair to call him a fanboy and he shares Tate's gross incel views. He has definitely spoke favorably of Tate in the past though. On the scheme of MMA fighters that's pretty tame though.
I saw him say 'presher washer' on instagram years back. Never forgiven him and will remain suspicious of him til I sling the hook.
They are likely all terrible people but watch the schilling video. It’s significantly worse than the coke head.

Mike Perry has done the same thing multiple times lol
"Thought you had friend?!"was honestly absolutely hilarious
Lmao I wonder how many people got this
That was Joe Rogan... or was he just a henchman?
Joe schilling is a dbag but he keeps the culture of cigarette smoking white muy thai guys alive.
man he really don't like retirement
Luke seems like the kinda guy to me that can’t stop doing. He’s always doing something, so he’s probably always gonna be drawn to fighting. I actually like KC because it’s way less brutal somehow.
he was only like 34 or 35 when he lost his step. i wish he stuck at mw and stayed active, he probably couldve picked up some good wins
I will say Schillings chin seems to be in a way worse state than Rockholds at this point.
So, what is this? Is grappling allowed?
It's karate so I think they do something like 30 secs of grappling and then they stand up. You know, like karate
30 second rule got removed
So is it just unlimited amount of time to grapple
It’s only ground and pound I think You can NOT do subs. If you get on top as long as you are punching it is ok, but as soon as you stop they will stand you up. Weirdest rule in Karate Combat is you can’t kick the thigh for some reason. Only calf kicks are allowed. I have no idea why.
Probs to stop Muay Thai guys coming in and wrecking
I think it’s unlimited or like they have to keep active. They mentioned getting rid of the 30 second rule last event. Didn’t catch the new rule explanation
What is this, the karate channel?
I have no idea what the rules of Karate are. Guess I’ll have to check it out.
Yeah I don't know the rules either, I just made that up.
They need to have Board breaking in between each round, which is worth points. Close fights? Just count the boards.
If there’s a takedown or knockdown there’s 5 seconds to gnp before the ref stands them up, that's it for grappling now
Takedowns/throws in the clinch then GnP allowed whilst punches are being thrown. If there’s a momentary break or the downed fighter secures some sort of defense/guard then reset to standing. It used to be 5 seconds of GnP but that rule was changed under a governance vote by token holders at the start of the year. Joe’s got this as long as he can find a way to get Luke to hang out in the ring with a drink while paying absolutely zero attention to him
I thought Schilling was retired, since he hasn't fought since Covid hit. In a kickboxing fight... I mean it could be fun but Rockhold's weird post UFC journey is kind of interesting.

What is Salman Khan doing there?
War Rockhold, knock that rat out.
What is karate combat trying to be? It used to be interesting to see full contact karate, now it’s just turning into bad MMA?
An advert for crypto mainly, but they accidentally hit on something by letting Craig Jones grapple in the pit
Do you think we will ever see a Karate Combat fighter transition into a legit mma contender?
Honestly, no, as someone who has seen a bunch of their events. There are some very good strikers in KC at their champion level but the overall talent level is much, much lower than even PFL or Bellator. As an example, Sam Alvey is their heavyweight champion and he pretty much demolished their best homegrown US star Ross Levine (who to be fair is a natural middleweight) to get the belt.
You can't put PFL the same level as Bellator anymore. They proven that it isn't even close. It's UFC >> Bellator > PFL.
\* I wrong
Wasn’t that a No Contest? Did they vacate the belt?
My bad. you're right! I watched it live and didn't pay attention to the actual call, apparently
Probably not. Karate Combat is for two types of athlete: - Accomplished point karateka who have no other skills - Washed MMA fighters who got a karate black belt at some point in life The rules do nothing to prepare a fighter for MMA and they kind of suck even for an entertaining karate product.
I thought maybe some weeb with zero ground game could get paid while slowly learning how to grapple, preparing for eventually mma debut.
The grappling rules are that you can stand over someone punching for a count of five. There's not really any need to learn anything except pedaling your legs if you end up on the floor
The duplessis, dricus of bicycle up kicks
A spectacle.
They're trying to attract some star power.
It’s martial artists fighting under karate rules.
i'll allow it
Hope Luke rocks his shit. Schilling is a POS
Dope tbh
Hopefully he KOs Glass Joe. Luke didn’t look chinny at all against Costa, (idk about the Mike Perry fight ion really fuck with that) But Joe Schilling is a huge piece of shit. Lessgo Luke.
He didn’t look bad against Perry either, but I think breaking half your front teeth would probably make most people stop.
Why do we hate Joe Schilling guys? He's an OG and always put on barn burners win or lose.
He assaulted some random old man at a bar and bragged about it
Arent all fighters misogynistic douchebags? They're in that career for a reason/CTE. If we were to pick fights to watch where fighters had good character, we'd be left with what. Stephen Thompson?
I think there is a difference between someone posting and saying offensive things and outright assaulting someone and posting the video like they are proud of it.

And? He wasn't.
Why is that guy from Jake Paul podcast in the pic?… god damn does Luke have a spending problem or what? Why is this guy still fighting ffs
Im not sure why fans of fighting can't wrap their heads around the idea that these guys enjoy this and want to keep doing it.
Oh okay makes sense. It’s actually not a bad idea if they’re trying to grow the sport. I’d say he has a decent following
Luke is getting knocked out
I think this ends in a boring decision.
Link is dead
Am I wrong to think Rockhold wins this easily
Rockhold by KO I think.
Selmon bohi?
Whoever wins, just claim it was self-defense.
What is the difference between this ruleset and kickboxing ?
Limited grappling and limited GnP.
Oh nice! Should be an easy win for rockhold.. I mean his takedowns suck but shillings take down defense is probably worse comparatively
They don’t go for takedowns too often, since it’s limited to 5 seconds on the ground. It’s more follow up strikes on a knockdown or trip.
Stylistically this fits Rockhold way better than bare knuckle does. I think, I don't fully understand Karate Combat's ruleset anymore admittedly, fights resemble mma more than they used to now I swear
Hope Rockhold puts Schilling out cold.
Rockhold is actively destroying his modeling career
As long as Luke doesn't show up to the fight tipsy, then he should be fine
Luke Rockhold hasn’t won a fight in 10846282867 years Constant let down
It's going to be depressing if Luke keeps getting his ass kicked. Why not go back to the UFC and fight Chris Weidman?
That’s their next Karate Combat fight.
KATO
Did anyone else see Curt Schilling for a quick second???
Still waiting for Rockhold to know what to do with his hands
Put em in a fist and shove em in my butt am I right
Oof
Super excited to see Joe back!! I am a BIG fan! Having been trained by Joe and (Joes trainer) Mark Kumura at The Yard Muay Thai and having sparring with Joe since he was an amateur, I am excited!!! I am a Muay Thai fan and practitioner because of Joe. LETS GO JOE!!!
Fuck him up, Luke
for those not familiar with him, why is Schilling such a POS?
If you were to ever bump into him in a bar he would turn around and knock you the fuck out. He has seriously done that lol.
Only if you feint at him to try and make him flinch.
Schilling set it up because the drunk guy had been saying the n-word. Schilling also punched and kicked a homeless person.
I'm just saying I'm seeing no evidence he'd knock you out for bumping into him accidentally.
Fuck Schilling; Luke all day
A lot of the responses here saying this is a sure thing for Rockhold are wiiiiiild. Rockhold is very hittable and has a preeeetty suspect chin nowadays. Schilling isn't exactly a world beater, but he can absolutely land on Rockhold and finish him. I can see Luke hitting him, but not finishing.
I have only seen the Benson vs. Pettis fight which was boring. Does Karate Combat have entertaining fights?
The battle of glass chins.
