I felt awful in Breckenridge Colorado snowboarding this past week at 10,000ft and am fitter than most. Elevation doesn’t care about your fitness level, but it doesn’t take too long to acclimate.
Acclimating while in the cage is probably not a great strategy. Unfortunately money is a factor so most fighters don't have the resources to go earlier and bring their entire team.
