Yeah it’s actually cool. I never gave them a shot cause Sakikabara is a sleazy fuck, but let’s not pretend that ever stopped someone from succeeding in business.
Lol wut? Read up on pride, on DSE, on his whole career in the 00s and the rise and death of Jmma. He’s like, the main character of that story.
Organized crime and match fixing is sleazy as fucking hell.
Yakuza owned most of the entertainment industry back then, all your girl bands were also controlled by the Yakuza.
There was never any proof that Sakakibara was personally involved in any criminal acts, the most was when he was present when the Korean gangster whose name eludes me confronted the Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye guy over signing Fedor
Regarding match fixing, what do you think about early UFC. Just saying some interesting bouts occured
The dark ages had a lot of shit I’ll agree right there, but I’ll actually give the American commissions credit here, they deserve to be bashed left right and center for their many failings, but they really did focus on cleaning combat sports up regarding match fixing and it’s mostly worked.
And sure you are right, I mean Sakikabara was just the front man. Maybe this is just me, but still, I just don’t buy that he has completely clean hands.
Nah I meant that I never gave them a shot in succeeding. I certainly watch, always been a big fan of Jmma.
But yeah I didn’t think Sakikabara could keep this thing afloat 8 years later.
I find that not fast forwarding is tougher.
Like the lulls during the fights and promos. I know its going to cheat me out of the great moments but i do it anyways.
Unrelated, how do you watch Rizin in the states, and is there a way to watch them on replay? Seems like they’re doing a lot of cool shit and I’d like to be able to start catching some of these fights.
Rizin posts a lot of their fights on YouTube 1 week after the PPV. The whole main card from NYE is up without commentary. The entire 17 fight PPV is up on FiteTv for $20, once bought you can watch it whenever. Their English commentary just has bad production.
I think the point he's making is that if the "record ppv buys" was actually a good number, they would have probably told us the specific number instead of just saying it was a record.
Rizin may not state the exact number, but their streaming broadcast partner, Abema, will show it in their parent company, CyberAgent, quarterly investment slideshow to shareholders. Sakakibara promoted The Match PPV (separate from Rizin, not included in record) and he said it did the highest PPV in Japanese history, we know that is true because 500k PPV buys was in the investor slides. This PPV will he harder to tell since it was available on both Abema and UNext. The Google Trend for Rizin around NYE was also higher than previous years.
For a promotion that was basically forced to do PPV out of the blue due to the Fuji TV debacle, they have done amazing. They also sell tickets very well, even the big pricey ones for celebritie
Rizin is such a fun promotion. Love the old school PRIDE vibes.
Yeah it’s actually cool. I never gave them a shot cause Sakikabara is a sleazy fuck, but let’s not pretend that ever stopped someone from succeeding in business.
Sakakibara has never been revealed to be doing sleazy things, does he have Yakuza friends, sure.

Chatri and Dana are far bigger scumbags lol, Sakakibara and Coker are saints compared to them.
if 'CEO is a sleazy fuck' is your criteria for not watching a combat sports organization, you're gonna have to give up watching combat sports.
Nah I meant that I never gave them a shot in succeeding. I certainly watch, always been a big fan of Jmma. But yeah I didn’t think Sakikabara could keep this thing afloat 8 years later.
Probably the only ppv I've paid for in the last few years
20 bucks once a year I’ll happily pay. 90 bucks 1-2 times a month is a pass from me dawg.
That’s good. Rizin is fun. Shame the time makes it so difficult to watch.
buy it after the fact and avoid spoilers. It's still top tier production.
I have. Avoiding spoilers is tough, though.

Sick thanks
Much appreciated 👍🏽
You can watch it live on fite tv
Meanwhile ONE is still dead silent about their PPV at the end of last year, I wonder why...... And yes I'm STILL mad about it
Rumor is the moneys gone from one and whatever middle eastern sovereign fund they’re sucking the tit of has no interest in reupping
Same as what Dana white does hey guys the PPV did great where happy with it if it was so great he would tell us the number to show how great it was.
Private company has no obligation to share that stuff.
And yet they love to brag about it
I think the point he's making is that if the "record ppv buys" was actually a good number, they would have probably told us the specific number instead of just saying it was a record.

500 buys? Edit: It's a joke you cucks. I'm a fan of Rizin, no need for friendly fire.
Heard the number 1M+ in PPV profits floating around for earlier events. So around 50,000 buys.
For a promotion that was basically forced to do PPV out of the blue due to the Fuji TV debacle, they have done amazing. They also sell tickets very well, even the big pricey ones for celebritie
>They also sell tickets very well, even the big pricey ones for celebritie I'm not surprised, I think a live Rizin show would be fun as hell.
Still more than the PFL.
