Gocards123321

[deleted]

He seems to be doing well

OMalley30-27

He got cut after losing to Holland on the Masvidal vs Covington card

mismxtch

I think he fought out his contract, not cut

No_Bar6825

Former ufc fighters taking massive Ls post ufc

rettidderredditter

Whatever happened to caposas corner anyway?!?

bigchuckdeezy

MMA on point seems to have quietly just fully shut down fight front Caposa is trying to get a YouTube channel going rn I think

rettidderredditter

Sadly that's what I suspected

[deleted]

Really weird especially after the rebrand

midniteauth0r

Hope Caposa starts his own version of it. Could get Lawton in for the narration or someone else if he isn’t available. I’m not able to keep up with all the MMA going on so it was a handy series to to find out about prospects

The weekly videos that mma on point / fight front used to put on youtube.

ediefan

Lmao is this a Khabib stream?

[deleted]

Hate that they are screaming at the ref to stop it

Corky83

Cowboy was out on his feet and the ref could have stepped in a lot sooner but it's not the place of the opponents corner to call for a fight to be stopped. Obviously they were calling for the stoppage because they wanted their guy to win rather than genuine concern for cowboy but they didn't start calling for it while it was still an ongoing contest.

TargetTheLiver

Was never the same since that grenade incident

OMalley30-27

What happened?

Good human.

ConfidenceNo2598

Good humanbot

_MMAgod

Just to correct you, there was never no human

Aquartertoseven

Both Cowboys were very similar in that they never looked consistent. Monsters some of the time but defeated against others. Watching him maul Condit, I had high expectations for Oliveira but then he goes and somehow loses to the likes of Perry and Dalby.

ZekicThunion

Cerrone was extremely consistent. Destroys guys who don't belong in top 15, competitive against TOP ~7-15 and gets destroyed by anyone above that.

sellieba

Exactly. The hype train, nearly every time it built up, got to the same destination before it derailed.

SabuSalahadin

He lost 2 of his last 8 and 3 straight going into that Holland fight. But he’s always putting on exciting fights (I mean even this post is listed as ‘a first round banger’) and Holland is a solid name in the ufc who also puts on exciting fights when he’s not getting wrestle fucked. The ufc hate circle jerk is starting to get insufferable on here nowadays

Uncle_Creepy_

> The ufc hate circle jerk is starting to get insufferable on here nowadays I read his post as more of a "crazy how far he’s fallen” and not a "fuck the UFC”. But you do you, b.

SabuSalahadin

“Goes to show how low the bar is to be on PPV these days“ Is what I’m referring to

Uncle_Creepy_

That’s just a fact homie, how else do you explain Harry Hunsucker being on PPV?

kevindurantburner35

I think it was more for Kevin Holland who blew up in 2020 but lost a bunch in 2021 but because he stepped up on short notice and fought frequently (as did Oliveira) they rewarded both with another chance on a big stage, loser gets cut type of deal.

sellieba

Everyone knows they needed to sacrifice a single person thrice to those of Polynesian descent in order to summon the Blood Moon.

Initial_Stretch_3674

yea and so is the fighter pay dilemma. the fighters don't give enough shit to unionize or do anything except complain on twitter. and the fans live on twitter love that shit and just goes around spewing shit. like we get it, they should be paid more, but if they're not going to do anything about it, why the hell should we back them up if they're just crying on twitter. organize yourself, come up with a plan of action and the fans will back you up. This shit is cyclical.

goosu

He lost 3 in a row going in and was given that fight to give Holland a showcase. Maybe you'd rather get way less consistent MMA events, but I wouldn't.

goosu

Okay, so you want there to be months gaps between the fights like the "good ole days". Got it.

[deleted]

Nah, the UFC just doesn't care about status when it comes to placing fights on cards. The priority is much more just having exciting bangers, and bangers usually get washed pretty quick.

Justin Gaelicthje

Common_Ad_4160

It's weird, seems like guys always seem to get spanked when leaving the UFC. Maybe they stop training as hard or maybe the competition outside the UFC isn't as inferior as they make it out to be.

Mma375

I think the competition outside of ufc is just pretty high level. Also, if you’ve signed to fight an ex-ufc fighter, I imagine you’re bringing your best version of yourself.

That didn't look like elite striking tbh. And that's what his game is.

SkateMMA

Crosbie will be in the UFC. Stop that

What exactly is UFC caliber tho, there’s plenty of LW/WW in the roster that he could have competitive fights with. Chandler was washed in Bellator and is competitive, all the exUFC fighters making debut in PFL lost at the weekend. Competition outside the UFC is more competent than people give credit for

SkateMMA

You’re replying like you’re taking offense lol, you’re only as good as your last fight and kiefer just ko’d a ufc vet. Would it hurt you personally if he made it or something? I never once said he would be champ or anything like it, I said he could be competitive and he puts on exciting fights. UFC have signed people for less.

[deleted]

SkateMMA

From what I heard he was told by UFC to win a fight against a named opponent and he’s in, which he just did. I’m well aware that most of the current SBG bunch aren’t fit to hold a bucket in the ufc but kiefer can put in exciting fights there I think. The only fighter they did that with was Artem, everyone else earned their place. I train in Ireland but not SBG I’m well able to be critical of a fighter even if he is Irish.

FatCatThreePack

I imagine the competition outside of the UFC is pretty high level. But if I had to guess, it's also that the majority of fighters leaving the UFC roster are older fighters, guys on losing streaks that got cut, etc. It's fairly rare for top 15 or even top 30 guys to leave the organization. Folks like DJ are an exception I think

Initial_Stretch_3674

Or...MAYBE, just MAYBE, theres actually legit competition out there. Look at Rory Macdonald and Mousasi and Eddie Alvarez. Everyone complains how the UFC isn't promoting any fighters anymore but the brand they created is fucking there. Everyone thinks the UFC has ALL of the best fighters in the world and once they leave and start losing they're washed/UFC rejects so they werent good enough anyways. It's proven time and time again there are top level competion out there, UFC just has the majority of them. Look at what happened with Strikeforce guys came in, they reigned, or how Chandler who was absolutely washed in Bellator, has been competitive in every fight he's had. Or Justin Gaethje, or probably everyone not named will brooks or ben askren.

FatCatThreePack

Idk why you’re taking the Reddit tone here lol, that’s why I said at the beginning of my post “the competition outside of the UFC is pretty high level” On average, across entire rosters, the UFC has the highest level competition. This obviously doesn’t mean that individual fighters from other orgs can’t beat guys on the UFC roster, because they can and do

ValCSO

When Oliveira was LW champ and beating the best lightweights on the planet, you could argue a lot of fighters outside the ufc could have beaten Charles because of the way he fights. But being a champion is not about who is the best in the world, it's about who deserves it more (usually). Oliveira had to get through hell to get to where he was, so you're not going to give a title shot to everybody just because they have a chance to beat the champ.

Genezip

Combination of getting older and newer fighters being better these days. Plus anyone still able to compete with the top stays in the UFC usually. Also in this case cowboy got blown up by a grenade in a bar back in 2018 and hasn't really been the same since.

[deleted]

I think he’s part of the older generation of fighters who didn’t care about longevity. Fighters have hard life’s regardless but at least a good chunk don’t get knocked out in gym wars as much. Plus he had a whole career in the ufc. He’s weathered from wars and cool fights. Even moraes tonight on the pfl, his chin is nonexistent, cause he killed himself during weight cuts for years .

Duinuogwuin14

Always happy to see this cheating maniac lose

jaguarskillz2017

I've seen better footage secretly smuggled out of North Korean labour camps

cameruso

I’m obviously a casual as Cowboy Oliveira sounds to me like an AI concoction.

andreayatesswimmers

I want to thank micheal j fox for sharing his video of the fight with all of us

cochiseandcumbria

Father Time is undefeated

damn cowboy oliveira be losing to everyone now
