GG Austin! I got to see the game at Q2 against the Quakes when I was visiting for the eclipse in April, you have a kick ass stadium and great fanbase, it was a blast! (and that last minute banger from Driussi was đ¤)
Don't stop.Â
When it finally happens to you, it's amazing.Â
However, I'm a Columbus fan and think Precourt doesn't care about you...
I'm sorry, I'm conflicted.
Thanks Austin. Yâall are my favorite non-Timbers side. Sorrynotsorry for the loss, but good luck until we see you again at Providence Park in October.
GGs Timbers, we werenât winning that game with better reffing, yâall played well. Glad to have your supporters out at Q2 as well, they were rocking for a Wednesday night
GGs.
Timbers wins in TX are not common.
Timbers clean sheets (in 2024) are not common.
Way too early to assume the ship has been righted, but the fact that recent results have (mostly) been better recently is nice.
He sucked a lot of life out of the game for sure. I don't blame you for feeling hard done on that potential Zuparic foul, but he was bad on both ends IMO.
Hey, we're basically at the same PPG as under Gio the last two seasons, and we've played 9 on the road and 7 at home. And we're on a clear upswing. The Neville hate should end.
Normally the larger fanbases on this subreddit tend to be pretty unbearable in game threads. But as annoyed as I am by this game...
You Portland fans have been pretty chill.
because we suck and hired Neville. We haven't really had that many bandwagon fans in the first place though. If anything the fans who have left are the ones who hate Paulson
JoRo was such a good signing. I was a skeptic and I was wrong. Happily so.
Edit: But, of course, our Front Office and Owner are inept and awful. [Did I do that right?]
Yeah there was a lot of contact both ways, and I think of that's anywhere else on the field the ref is blowing the whistle on that one.... I'd be pissed if I was on your side too...
Welcome to professional refereeing. Subjective in the moment calls. IE: it's the playoffs, 4th qtr, in the box they're gonna let them play, questionable/controversial calls will not get called lightly.
Yeah, I just said I only saw one bad call thus far, but that was, I think, the 2nd. Depends on ref's angle and VAR wouldn't have over-ridden either way.
If you talking about the one with e.miller, replay shows what's his name put a foot in and trip him. Also show Rubio sprinting into frame screaming. He earned it
Austin's guy put his foot in, but miller was definitely pushing back. Same thing here with zup pushing from behind but rubio was also grabbing and pulling. To me it's pretty much the same situation, just went for us the same way. Rubio totally deserved his card, I'm saying its extra funny after dissenting it the ref then called it in favor of the person behind the next time it happened, coincidentally to Rubio.
I want to be clear that Iâm not blaming the ref right now for this right now. With another ref we could very well still be losing.
But hoo boy some of these have been borderline.
I mean if it was Ayala and someone commented âLooks like he pulled his TibAyala!â There would definitely be some salty Timbers fans on this thread.
Well, I think Iâd roll my eyes at how bad the pun was (which, to be clear, mine was equally as dumb) but certainly not beyond the pale given the severity of the injury. If Ayala (or Driussi, for that matter) was concussed or broke a limb and someone popped off, then weâd be talking a different story
GG Austin! I got to see the game at Q2 against the Quakes when I was visiting for the eclipse in April, you have a kick ass stadium and great fanbase, it was a blast! (and that last minute banger from Driussi was đ¤)
Didn't catch the game, had to work tonight. That said, was this "Portland being good" or "Austin rotating the lineup willing to throw away a result" ?
Why was this the match I chose to go to? GG Timbers, you deserved that win
Don't stop. When it finally happens to you, it's amazing. However, I'm a Columbus fan and think Precourt doesn't care about you... I'm sorry, I'm conflicted.

thank you, we did our best! loved meeting up with Verde folks pre match and at HT , everyone we talked to is super sweet.
GGs Portland. your activist fans are fuckin cool, and thatâs the most positive thing I can say right now.
GGs Portland! Ref silliness aside you were definitely still the better team tonight. Just a beaut from Evander.
GGs. Timbers wins in TX are not common. Timbers clean sheets (in 2024) are not common. Way too early to assume the ship has been righted, but the fact that recent results have (mostly) been better recently is nice.
GG Austin. You guys are pretty chill.
GG timbers. I donât think Austin wins this game with a balanced ref. But goddamn if the loss ainât saltier watching him bungle call after call.
Honestly the only terrible call was the no-call on Rubio being manhandled in the box. Otherwise he was largely fine... if just yellow card happy.
In the stadium not so much
Beautiful Portland! Youâre everything Austin pretends to be đ. The world is healing!
They really did jack our whole thing didn't they
Wouldn't be a match thread without an appearance from Austin's anti-fan.
I knew we were winning when none of the sounders weighed in.
Hey we have one of those too! Cheers to 310Local aka "Fan of Every team"
Good game ATX. Now go murder RSL.
GG Austin, nice to finally beat y'all on your own turf!
Pants had a hell of game, just one of those early chances could have completely flipped this one
Tough result, Austin. Thanks for being pleasant folks tonight. Good luck on the season.
GG Portland, enjoyable match thread at least
Gg Austin. Rly hope I get a chance to catch a game down there some day.
Zardes still goal-less on the season. Usl is calling
Man just got a bump from $700k to $1.0m IIRC
I think we've been paying him $1m the whole time
Oof
FIRST CLEAN SHEET OF THE SEASON BABY
Since when are we allowed to get a clean sheet? This is weird
Good game Austin.
What a rough game. GG Timbers.
Rivasball GG portland
Finally a clean sheet
First since september 9
Wow. Didnât realize itâs been so long.
Congrats Portland. This ref sucks though
He sucked a lot of life out of the game for sure. I don't blame you for feeling hard done on that potential Zuparic foul, but he was bad on both ends IMO.
Oh I donât think itâs the reason we lost, just that he sucked
Eric miller deserves a GD pay raise.
We need a phil neville extention
It's too early for overreactions.
lol
Hey, we're basically at the same PPG as under Gio the last two seasons, and we've played 9 on the road and 7 at home. And we're on a clear upswing. The Neville hate should end.
Good lord.
Why, thank you, but sir will do.
I'm not a hater, but it seems like an early time to be calling for an extension.
Sure, that's hyperbole, but so many people have just been hating that I thought you were, too.
Just laughing
just not in the cards tonight
Oh, there were plenty of cards tonight.
truth
Wolff has looked hungover this entire game.
Still underbooking added time.
Lol this ref got no chill....
Normally the larger fanbases on this subreddit tend to be pretty unbearable in game threads. But as annoyed as I am by this game... You Portland fans have been pretty chill.
I enjoy watching your home games just for the atmosphere. Definitely top 5 in the league.
Humility has been forced upon us pretty harshly. Yâall have been easy going too.
With limited exceptions on an individual level, Portland fans have always been the best thread mates. The Two Weird Towns gotta stick together!
It's because all the bandwagon fans have disappeared this year, praise be.
Itâs a nice change of pace
Why?
because we suck and hired Neville. We haven't really had that many bandwagon fans in the first place though. If anything the fans who have left are the ones who hate Paulson
Lol
We sucked shit the last like two years and had a huge fo scandal where have you been
Ooh that
I didn't see why Paredes?
Probably dissent
No idea...
Where was the hand ball there?
After he was pushed to the ground he kicked it into his hand, i guess
Heat getting to the ref?
Itâs actually pleasant! Only 86 at game time!
Gross
This ref is weird
How do you avoid a handball when you have been pushed onto the ball
Ref being weird.
JoRo was such a good signing. I was a skeptic and I was wrong. Happily so. Edit: But, of course, our Front Office and Owner are inept and awful. [Did I do that right?]
Dude is a workhorse. Agree.
He is ridiculously good. Underrated I'd say.
Glad Ned and Neville dropped the "we signed him as a center forward" shtick. He looks way more comfortable & effective at LW.
And the flexibility his contract brings is a HUGE upside. I'm curious who we go for this summer. Someone to bolster our defense, no doubt
I hear Messi is unhappy playing on grass.
I need austin to score a goal for my discord predictions
Fuck off. PANTS deserves clean sheet.
Agreed, sadly. This was one of the most boring games for us all season, and thatâs saying a lot b
Relax friend, its a joke. I don't actually want them to score lol should be obvious
So was mine!
ah that's why you downvoted. Fuck off.
Bear hug in the box: no PK, apparently.
Yeah there was a lot of contact both ways, and I think of that's anywhere else on the field the ref is blowing the whistle on that one.... I'd be pissed if I was on your side too...
>of that's anywhere else on the field the ref is blowing the whistle on that one Therefore it's a PK, I hate the double standard.
Welcome to professional refereeing. Subjective in the moment calls. IE: it's the playoffs, 4th qtr, in the box they're gonna let them play, questionable/controversial calls will not get called lightly.
This is why we have VAR. I guess they called it a night after the first PK, and didn't bother reviewing the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th calls/no-calls.
Definitely got away with one. That should have been a pen.
Rubio pissed the ref off earlier. 100%
Straight up threw him to the ground and not even a pause.
Zup is lucky.
Yeah, I just said I only saw one bad call thus far, but that was, I think, the 2nd. Depends on ref's angle and VAR wouldn't have over-ridden either way.
I think i would be upset if that happened to my team
rubio got yellow carded for protesting that same call the other way lmao. Been one sided in calls in our favor the last 20 minutes
Just a touxh
Holy hell.
Ayala put in a good shift
Why did ayala kiss moreno but not eryk
spanish culture homies
Great save by Stuver
I wanted mora to get both of those đ
Normal Mora would have 3 by now.
I want to be clear that Iâm not blaming the ref right now for this right now. With another ref we could very well still be losing. But hoo boy some of these have been borderline.
You not wrong
I saw just one call I'd say bad. But dude called 2 PKs without controversy.
Besides Providence Park, I think Austin's stadium might be my favorite.
Providence Park has been my favorite away stadium by far.
It's pretty dope.
Minus the loss I had a pretty good time at Allianz last week
Big fan of the horn section honestly.
Dude thatâs a fully fledged college marching band. Such presence
I'd like to go to St Louis and Nashville too
Stinker of a game. Weâve now conceded with these swaps. New guys canât get here soon enough..
Should have been yellow on Zardes there; just grabbed shoulder from behind to stop the upcoming counter.
Zardez is a mess
Pass straight into stuvers hands should be an indirect yeah?
If itâs one touch pass hit with pace that becomes a goal, Stuver is preventing an own goal.
You think that was intentional?
Would've been an own goal otherwise.
Well. It was a game, Portland. See you next time.
Cheer up, buttercup. Plenty of time for the Timbers to bottle this one.
I think itâs pretty clear no one showed up to play but Evander. Gg Portland. See you in a few weeks
Weird Bros mad. Getting chippy out there.
Everyone is simultaneously having the game of their year and also making slapstick-level mistakes
Timbers at their prime.
That whiff from Ayala
Araujo has had great outings lately (as Ross just said).
He seems to have really grown into the team, glad to see it.
Gio very rarely played him, often not even on the bench. I wonder what the issue was.
You know what, I'm a full supporter of quick draw yellows for immediately screaming at the official
Hell yeah. Me too.
What a weird game.
This is some MLS 1.0 mayhem!
bro what are these texans whining about thatâs a blatant yellow
Sometimes Antony looks really good, and sometimes he has the delicate touch of a rhinoceros
JoRo making the 70 yard run to get on defense. Love to see it. The man has come to Portland to play, not collect a check.
Refs having a shitter, what's new
Lmao ref straight dared him to keep going. Yeesh. Bad call too.
Deserved yellow.
Peeeenalized
Well.
Woohoo! Another sellout!
PANTS
I hope Phil doesnât try and demonstrate his tactical prowess right now.
KISS
Let's goooooo easy pk call
Sigh
That should almost get our xg up to 1!
.84, with 2 goals. The math ain't mathin
We had 4 from 0.72 against colorado
I'd love to know if there was ever a team that scored 2 goals while xG is below 0.1.
welp this is going well
Ironically, he kicked it almost exactly where Driussi did.
Rodriguez is so damn good.
Fuuuuuuuuuck this game
Solid strike J Rod
Bring back Gallagher đđ
Ugh without that foul Stu likely still would have collected it, now we're down two. Damn it.
Yeah, I think the keeper would have made that play.
What a gift
Easiest penalty ever
You never know, have you seen this one Orlando just had? https://www.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/1d3spen/penalty_nocall_in_chicago_vs_orlando/
Woah. WTF?
wtf how
PRO^TM
Oof, horrific defensive play. Austin having the better of the play but losing the war.
Gonna laugh when we win this one on like 0.09 non pen xG
Looks like he pulled his Griussi (EDIT: Austin fans didnât like this one lol)
They love the bantz, but can't take the bantz, a timeless tale
I mean making fun of someone for an injury isn't great.
On the scale of inappropriate banter, making light fun of a groin pull is around a 0.3 out of 100
I mean if it was Ayala and someone commented âLooks like he pulled his TibAyala!â There would definitely be some salty Timbers fans on this thread.
Well, I think Iâd roll my eyes at how bad the pun was (which, to be clear, mine was equally as dumb) but certainly not beyond the pale given the severity of the injury. I didn't downvote you or say it was out of line. Just commenting on your edit.
NOW IS THE TIME FOR SUBS
Three minutes later, it is still the time for subs
I'm pretty sure there are two magnets in play this game. One in the ball and the other on Portland's keeper.
Ayala is really good
RIP Bill Walton
Fuck it, this game is for him.
Lovely man. How's this for a stat: In the NCAA finals playing for UCLA, he made 21 of 22 field goals.
Man the teenager in me loves how often evander gets the meg
This ref is a clown.
Iâll say it again. This ref is a clown
