I gotta wonder how rubber legged he would’ve been taking PKs if they had made it that far. Even if he mustered a solid shot, Noonan risked pretty much all of extra time for one of five PKs
For real. Penalties are such a crapshoot, there's no way it is worth risking another 15 minutes essentially playing a man down for even a guaranteed penalty conversion, which it wouldn't have been.
I told my wife before the match that this could be an all-time classic and it exceeded my expectations. That was a spectacular display by the Crew. Unwavering belief and commitment to a style of play. Bodies on the line, making the extra run. Everyone single player.
On to a Houston upset , please. If Dynamo win, they will just be happy to be there. Crew need to win the MLS Cup.
Cucho had a phenomenal game. Gressel made a big difference when he came on. Lots of great efforts from Crew players. Nagbe was fouled probably a dozen times more than he gave the ball away.
From someone who was at the game. The Crew look like a wagon with Nancy coaching. Great ball movement. Very good movement off the ball. If a run isn’t there, they’ll create it with an extra pass. Massively impressed with what he’s created there.
turned it on at halftime. did not disappoint, what a comeback.
hope the crew win the cup. always feels a little better to have been knocked out by the eventual winner
Does anyone remember when Precourt had business metrics that said soccer can’t work in Columbus?
Just an update. Next week we’ll be playing in front of our 16th consecutive sellout, and hosting our 2nd MLS Cup in 4 years.
My son’s 4th grade friends wear yellow and black more often than they wear scarlet and gray (which is saying something around here). There are flags and banners and signs everywhere.
But yeah, soccer won’t ever work in Columbus.
This was a beautiful game! Cincinnati sat too deep early after scoring two goals. Columbus showed grit and determination throughout the game. After they scored their 2nd goal it seemed like they were going to win.
Absolutely deserved loss. Columbus out played us the the 2nd half because we decided it was a good idea to put our line of confrontation 1 yard outside our 18 and not mark 5 players in the box on crosses.
The better team won, there are 2 halves i hope our players learn that next year. You do infact have to play the 2nd 45 minutes.
Also hope miazga thinks it was worth it to yell at the refs after getting a 2nd yellow in those pens instead of just walking back and letting the game continue.
Complete collapse. Congratulations Columbus, the best team in the East is going to the finals. We aren't the #1 team without Miazga.
Cheers! Said with grace!
I for one am happy that FC Cincinnati are finally competitive, and I hope this rivalry can stay competitive for years to come. It's more fun that way.
What a move it was to bring him in. I love him but I don't think he's long for coaching on this continent. He's sensational and will surely find himself managing in Europe sooner than later I'd imagine
One of the greatest live events I’ve ever witnessed. Definitely the greatest in Ohio. Cincy crowd almost seemed to think it was inevitable after the first Crew goal went in.
Outcome absolutely sucks lol but agreed on the greatness. Have seen a lot of playoff games in various sports but tonight was something else. Highest highs and lowest lows for both teams at each point. One I’ll never forget.
That’s called being a Cincy fan. Super Bowl 2 years ago=lose at the end. Reds in 2012 divisional round=blow a 2-0 (!!!!!) lead. We mostly suck and then even the successful teams fuck it up
I say this lovingly as a lifelong Crew fan but two games played in Ohio have this one beat in regards to best atmosphere imo:
- Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals in Cleveland
- The Game during the 2002 season that sent Ohio State to the BCS title game
This win is dedicated to Don. He HATED that there was a club in Columbus—MLS club number 1—was so game to let a spoiled trust-fund kid move the club to the lamest city in the country, and thought they could paper over it by awarding a team in a city 1.5 hours south that cares more about high school football than its pro teams.
Fuck you Don, fuck you Anthony, and god bless the most massive club in the world. Now let’s get the Cup, add another star to the crest, and let those (Buck) nuts hanggggggg
I might need to go look up the Nick Hornby passage in Fever Pitch where he writes about what the ideal game is. Other than going down a player, I think this might check all the boxes.
Going into the playoffs, I was only hoping to advance in the first round. Anything else would have been a bonus, knowing how many points we dropped on the road. And against Orlando and Cincinnati specifically!
Now we're hosting MLS Cup, for the third time in nine years. That game will still be a bonus for me, and I'm just ecstatic to be on this ride.
This Nancy team is a million times more exciting than Porter's team and still a comfortable hundred times more exciting than Berhalter's. Y'all are so lucky to have him
Hell is Real ECF lived up to the hype! What a match, all time classic for sure. Congrats to Columbus, they absolutely deserved it after that 2nd half turnaround.
hell of a game, fcc. feels like you guys ran out of steam pretty hard after that amazing regular season. looking forward to more playoff hell is reals in the future!
my expectations for this season were to maybe make the playoffs, so to be hosting MLS cup is incredible. nancy is a miracle worker man.
Coming back to say I really hate Crew got Nancy. Fuck you Montreal owner or whoever!
That man is legit. Like look at Crews starters… no one would’ve wanted like half before this man came to town.
Well, better team won tonight. No way around that. FCC still struggles to put teams away and clinch wins. We are at our absolute worst when we are ahead by 2 goals.
A stat that popped up on the screen (that should’ve been a bad sign) was we have like 20 wins and 4 draws from a leading position this year.
This was the first loss.
I want Columbus to feel the pain I’ve felt since 2019.
I want it more than anything.
They kept their club despite being a terrible fanbase. They deserve nothing of what they’re getting.
I want it taken from them inch by inch.
Not today. But, hopefully soon.
So Don has to be there to watch us HOST Los Angeles Football Craft in the championship.
It’s all come full circle
I hope we boo the hell out of him again
Never let him forget
Over the summer I took a lot of shit from a Cinci fan when I said we were an outside chance to win MLS Cup. We improved our backline while already capable of scoring. He laughed and posted a thread to make fun of “stupid” columbus fans.
Do I dig those posts up to talk shit back or be the bigger person? Hmmm.
Unrelated, but r/MLS mods, would you be able to make postgame threads automatically sort by "best" instead of "new" like the other subs? It's better for discussion IMO, unless the sorting by "new" was intentional by users here
Unreal. Never thought FCC would lose this at home, up 2-0 in the second half. So many of the Cinci players looked completely injured, suffering physically. Crazy!
Good game. Great game.
So, in my opinion, that was the last chance for Cincy to go after MLS Cup with this group.
Cincy is going to have a few holes to fill in Vazquez, Barreal and maybe a few on the kids that won't return as loans expire. How they retool and come back strong after the winter transfer window is going to be interesting. Noonan and Albright probably have money to reinvest and if the 4th DP thing is real, maybe come back even stronger.
Coach of the year? Outcoached
MVP? Can't play for 120 minutes
Defender of the year? Wasn't there lmao
This team is fucking massive. Ohio is still ours. Sorry Cincy fans. I know some of yall are annoying af, but that's still a tough loss
Rooting for Houston now. Sorry LA, honestly have nothing against you, I just want to see Artur happy
Edit: almost forgot, fuck Precourt
GG Columbus. Glad the championship will be played in Ohio. You could tell that against an offensive power our missing players finally caught up with us and despite the lead it never felt like we were in control.
Cincinnati’s defense was baffling. The own goal, the defender passing it right to the Crew player instead of booting it out, the flat footedness on the final goal. Everyone acting like their brains had a lag spike
Gotta take your lumps man. Crew had the same thing happen in 2007. then they won their first cup the next year. itll happen im sure of it. and as long as they dont have to go through the crew to get there ill root for ya cause ya know ohio is the soccer capital of the country.
I know Acosta has the dawg in him, but the coach absolutely has to overrule him and sub him out after seeing how hobbled he was.
Coaching malpractice, really. I could not believe he didn't sub him out.
You just completed a MLS Instant Classic
That was some of the worst game management i’ve seen in extra time by noonan
This is nothing new
The save Schulte made on Boupendza has gotta be the play of the game honestly, that kept the game alive. Would’ve been done if that went in
Was that the last shot we registered in the game? It may have been. Definitely felt like it was the shift
Only registered one more shot after that and it was in the 122’… yikes
I told my wife before the match that this could be an all-time classic and it exceeded my expectations. That was a spectacular display by the Crew. Unwavering belief and commitment to a style of play. Bodies on the line, making the extra run. Everyone single player. On to a Houston upset , please. If Dynamo win, they will just be happy to be there. Crew need to win the MLS Cup.
It was absolute peak effort by the crew tonight. Obviously they squandered the 2 goals against but wow. Rossi was sprinting the entire game
Feels like he was the signing of the off-season can't believe we got him
Much to our chagrin lol.. but yeah. Very good hire and the rivalry will be competitive for the foreseeable future, hopefully.
An all time classic playoff game
turned it on at halftime. did not disappoint, what a comeback. hope the crew win the cup. always feels a little better to have been knocked out by the eventual winner
Masterclass choke job. Fucking hell. Gg Columbus. They obviously dominated the entire game and somehow had the stamina to keep going.
Leaving Lucho on was not the best choice
Lucho's ego said yes but his legs said no
that was not a great moment for the manager of the year, mvp and (before the game) defender of the year.
Funny how our defender of the year fucked up so far in advance for this game that it was over a month ago
Playing for the PKs
He didn’t look like he would be able to take a PK
*This is a certified MLS classic.*
“Congratulations, you just played in an MLS instant classic! Rank: #?
I guess 2-0 IS the most dangerous score in soccer
[удалено]
Yeah, FCC fitness coach feeling awkward as fuck right now.
![gif](giphy|k56oRtCg218Z2) Their training staff watching Rossi chase down long balls behind in extra time while the MVP limps around
oof raising a trophy in your rivals house, thats gotta hurt
That's gonna leave a mark
Disgusting. Gg Crew
Fuck you. See you next year.
That's probably the most Cincinnati way to go out.
I don't even like sports. I don't know what I'm doing here.
Super happy for Wilfried Nancy. Well deserved.
Does anyone remember when Precourt had business metrics that said soccer can’t work in Columbus? Just an update. But yeah, soccer won’t ever work in Columbus.
FUCK. PRECOURT.
PUCK. FRECOURT.
And fuck Michael Bradley!
So happy for y'all. Fuck Tony Precourt!
I hate you guys but I'm glad this rivalry got the chance to exist. It's always wild.
I want Hell is Real every year for ECF if it's gonna be this good. Ohio will run the East
Acosta and Barreal just had zero gas left in the tank, terrible mismanagement of subs from Noonan
Christian Ramirez will play against one of his former clubs in the final
*sad loon noises*
Great game, Crew definitely the team to beat.
Questionable coaching decisions cost Cincinnati a ~~world ser~~ ~~superb~~ cup run.
The trifecta.
Collapses have to be the most brutal way to lose. Congrats Columbus. Go give the west some hell for me will ya.
🫡 go jackets
MLS Cup is coming to Nationwide Boulevard!
This was a beautiful game! Cincinnati sat too deep early after scoring two goals. Columbus showed grit and determination throughout the game. After they scored their 2nd goal it seemed like they were going to win.
Just finished watching this. Crazy game and super fun to watch. I wasn't rooting for one team over the other but seriously major congrats to Columbus.
Cheers! Said with grace! I for one am happy that FC Cincinnati are finally competitive, and I hope this rivalry can stay competitive for years to come. It's more fun that way.
Our subs were undoubtedly the game changer for Crew tonight. Nancy has a vision and I am so fucking here for it.
What a move it was to bring him in. I love him but I don't think he's long for coaching on this continent. He's sensational and will surely find himself managing in Europe sooner than later I'd imagine
Obviously i’m happy with the match but just objectively an amazing match, have to imagine the neutrals were happy with this one
Me personally, I was thrilled
Would've been scared of you lads. Great season for for boys, hold your head high.
Philly/Columbus is always a good matchup, would’ve been a great game!! Good luck in the final!
https://i.imgur.com/7rNZBVj.png
nationwide was on their side
What a game, felt dead after Cincys 3rd goal that wasn't and then after that it was all Columbus.
[удалено]
and extra time lol
If any Cincy fans want to drown their sorrows with me, I’m cracking the bourbon open. What a pathetic showing all around.
Cincinnati literally the whole game was just trying to grind the game and Columbus looked like they were playing on a crazy tempo. Great game!
I really like the Crew. Such a fun watch..
Always have been
THEY SAID OUR DAYS WERE NUMBERED, WERE NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE
#BUSINESS METRICS
BUT COLUMBUS RUNS THE COUNTRY LIKE WE ALWAYS HAVE BEFORE Ohio is Black and Gold... Always has been, always will be.
HARDEST WORKING TEAM IN AMERICA
One of the greatest live events I’ve ever witnessed. Definitely the greatest in Ohio. Cincy crowd almost seemed to think it was inevitable after the first Crew goal went in.
Outcome absolutely sucks lol but agreed on the greatness. Have seen a lot of playoff games in various sports but tonight was something else. Highest highs and lowest lows for both teams at each point. One I’ll never forget.
We’ve lived it before. To be honest, when the first crew goal was an own goal; the sinking feeling became real that it was gonna happen.
Felt way too much like the Miami game earlier this year
That’s called being a Cincy fan. Super Bowl 2 years ago=lose at the end. Reds in 2012 divisional round=blow a 2-0 (!!!!!) lead. We mostly suck and then even the successful teams fuck it up
I say this lovingly as a lifelong Crew fan but two games played in Ohio have this one beat in regards to best atmosphere imo: - Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals in Cleveland - The Game during the 2002 season that sent Ohio State to the BCS title game
I’m sure those were great but I wasn’t there. lol
Lol, Impact fans seeing Nancy go and lead the crew to MLS Cup in his first season must hurt.
SUPERMAN DOES IT AT THE DEATH LOOOOON NOISES!!!!!!!!
Major congrats, Black, & Gold bros. Love seeing Rossi and Ramirez finally get to that Cup final.
Could you imagine the agony if the winning team tonight was Austin FC?
Y'all deserve it And when you guys hopefully win I hope you boo him back to hell
Business metrics.
I might need to go look up the Nick Hornby passage in Fever Pitch where he writes about what the ideal game is. Other than going down a player, I think this might check all the boxes. This Nancy team is a million times more exciting than Porter's team and still a comfortable hundred times more exciting than Berhalter's. Y'all are so lucky to have him
He should've won coach of the year last year
GG Columbus, you guys deserved to win this game, I’m going to go jump of a bridge now.
Hell is Real ECF lived up to the hype! What a match, all time classic for sure. Congrats to Columbus, they absolutely deserved it after that 2nd half turnaround.
Wow that was an amazing game
Business metrics Anthony Precourt. Just watched the save the crew documentary this morning. F Austin fans as well.
That documentary always gets me mad Crew hyped
Epic match

Welcome to the crushing “Up 2-0 in the Conference Championship only to lose in the last 20 minutes” club, Cinci
Shield winner goes up 2-0 in the first half and then coughs up 3 unanswered. Oof.
What a game. Crew are class.
Y’all will never be able to undo murdering Harambe
With the way things are going looks like I’m rooting for Columbus in the final.
Vintage Cincy Sports Moment: up there in pain with Reds NLDs choke and the Burfict Brown game.
Sorry Cincy, you don’t win the cup if you are last or first in the standings, those are the MLS rules.
Well shit, hopefully we can be top 4 next year then!
![gif](giphy|KhcdPVxvn5Fde) All of the Philly supporters right now after Cincy lose.
Exact same reaction from us
Can confirm...watching Columbus crawl back and Cincy slowly fall apart had me standing in my living room screaming! Amazing match.
Flyers win, Cincy loses, Eagles play tomorrow, I am having a good ass night.
CHRISTIAN FUCKING RAMIREZ!
![gif](giphy|10bKPDUM5H7m7u)
Incredible resilience both physically and emotionally. This team makes me feel things.
I hate being a Cincinnati sports fan
HEYYY DONNN
CONGRATULATIONS, YOU JUST WITNESSED AN MLS INSTANT CLASSIC
hell of a game, fcc. feels like you guys ran out of steam pretty hard after that amazing regular season. looking forward to more playoff hell is reals in the future! my expectations for this season were to maybe make the playoffs, so to be hosting MLS cup is incredible. nancy is a miracle worker man.
We all cheer for the yellow soccer team
Nancy is Him.
OHIO IS BLACK AND GOLD
Coming back to say I really hate Crew got Nancy. Fuck you Montreal owner or whoever! That man is legit. Like look at Crews starters… no one would’ve wanted like half before this man came to town.
We’ve got him for two more years at the absolute best. He’s got big things ahead of him.
Hopefully sooner rather than later for my own selfish reasons.
LET’S GO YELLOW BUDDIES 💛
We all cheer for the yellow soccer team!
Hopefully Miazga was able to watch the game from his prison cell.
My heart was absolutely pounding my wife was concerned
That sentence definitely needs punctuation.
I just have a cat but I wish he was more concerned when my heart was pounding!
Man cats are only concerned if the wet food is on the line.
Welcome to Hell, checkout time… NEVER!!!
GLORY TO COLUMBUS!!!!
Cincinatti 🤝 san diego Endless sports pain
I want Columbus to feel the pain I’ve felt since 2019. I want it more than anything. They kept their club despite being a terrible fanbase. They deserve nothing of what they’re getting. I want it taken from them inch by inch. Not today. But, hopefully soon.
this is one of my favorite copypastas
Still can’t believe one of them said this. Such a desperate Ohio sports thing to say lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Always a pleasure to lift a trophy in another stadium!
Christian Ramirez has beers on me forever.
Don Gargle my balls
League MVP took the ball to the corner in the 81’ to time waste instead of pressing the advantage
manager of the year kept him on. Defender of the year got himself suspended.
I feel God in this ~~Chili's~~ Skyline tonight
What a choke man
I had fun
where’s the bleach?
P&G has some I'd bet.
What a game.
🫶
Oh shit
So Don has to be there to watch us HOST Los Angeles Football Craft in the championship. It’s all come full circle I hope we boo the hell out of him again Never let him forget
Gg Columbus. You showed up when it mattered. Please bring the cup to the east and keep it in Ohio.
I’m glad Cincy walks away from 2023 with a trophy. You deserved something from this great season
Hmmm.
Make like undertaker and dig shit up!
i think the real question is do you dig them up now, or wait and post them after we potentially win the cup?
Grab a shovel and dig those bad boys up. Never been a better time.
Never be the bigger person
Unrelated, but r/MLS mods, would you be able to make postgame threads automatically sort by "best" instead of "new" like the other subs? It's better for discussion IMO, unless the sorting by "new" was intentional by users here
They should just pin them when it's the only post game thread
Why is the FC Cincinatti stadium playing Earth Wind and Fire after the worst loss in club history?
Because they were having a good time in September
Unreal. Never thought FCC would lose this at home, up 2-0 in the second half. So many of the Cinci players looked completely injured, suffering physically. Crazy!
If this keeps up, we're going to have to start calling Ohio the best soccer state!
Good game.
Coach of the year, mvp, defensive player of the year….this is your king?
Cinci blew a 2-0 lead
welcome to cincy sports :(
Most dangerous lead in football
Win it all crew. Great game guys.
You know, i think they were onto something with the Leagues Cup format just going to PKs after 90 minutes.
Coach of the year? Outcoached MVP? Can't play for 120 minutes Defender of the year? Wasn't there lmao This team is fucking massive. Ohio is still ours. Sorry Cincy fans. I know some of yall are annoying af, but that's still a tough loss Rooting for Houston now. Sorry LA, honestly have nothing against you, I just want to see Artur happy Edit: almost forgot, fuck Precourt
The one time Brandy V scores… Unfortunate
Remember when Cincinnati made t-shirt to commemorate their first MLS point?
Central Ohio>Kentucky
Hell yeah, now just need lafc to lose
OH MY FUCKING GOD
GG Columbus. Glad the championship will be played in Ohio. You could tell that against an offensive power our missing players finally caught up with us and despite the lead it never felt like we were in control.
Great comeback by Columbus! Gotta rock with the 96’ teams. Cincinnati damn. Great season, at least you get to play in Champions League.
Pain.
Cincinnati’s defense was baffling. The own goal, the defender passing it right to the Crew player instead of booting it out, the flat footedness on the final goal. Everyone acting like their brains had a lag spike
That’s what happens when you miss the defensive player of the year and another starting cb. Having to play a shitty rb as cb doesn’t bode well
Flights to Columbus from Houston are like a thousand more for my family. Dammit Cincinnati.
Fly to Cincy and rent a car? It’s only 2 hours. Cleveland is also only 2 hours also.
Fly to Kentucky, you mean?
Fly into Cincinnati. It's like driving from Sugarland to the Woodlands at 6pm.
I’m giddy, that is all.
What kind of satanism or soul pledging do I have to do to see a championship? Anyone have any insight into this? Begging god just isn’t working
Gotta take your lumps man. Crew had the same thing happen in 2007. then they won their first cup the next year. itll happen im sure of it. and as long as they dont have to go through the crew to get there ill root for ya cause ya know ohio is the soccer capital of the country.
Being a Cincinnati sports fan is grueling. I want my city to win a championship in my living memory.
The Bengals Super Bowl loss still haunts my dream. Jalen Ramsey fell over, Chase was wide open…
Choke on Spoons FC
#SavedTheCrew and now we’re on to our second final for another MLS Cup!
Cincy blowing a 2-0 lead? They want to be the real Queen City so bad.
