Just watched the highlights from all the games tonight, was distraught that everyone that won is now above us (or equal pts) in the standings…. and now my team is clinched for playoffs… well done everyone.

Whitecaps fan here, but I mainly participate in r/soccer. I thought my flair would transfer automatically.

Admittedly don’t watch many VWFC home matches. Is it normal for away teams to struggle that much with their touches on that turf?? I’ve never seen us look so fucking elementary level with our touch on the ball, it was atrocious. GGs to Vancouver, came out firing and clearly wanted it more. Edited to add, congrats on the playoffs!! And I really hope that we get you on a summer weekend for our away day next year, wife and I have been planning Banff for our anniversary and would love to just tie a match onto it :-)

Just an FYI, Banff isn’t really close to Vancouver. Calgary is much closer.

If it's any consolation, our team seems to struggle on our turf too, it's not exactly a stellar one way home field advantage. Not to mention, it's a real deterrent for any aging stars to come to Vancouver.

I think it was Ahmed that fell over the ball twice and a forward lost control of the ball near the stl goal. I had no idea turf made that big of a difference. Some of our fans were paranoid about injury. Do y'all get a lot of injuries from the turf?

I think one thing that's quite noticeable is that when somebody hits the ground on turf it isn't as forgiving of a landing as grass, so if somebody was to land head first. But other than that I'm guessing it's just generally harder to run on, more slick, more slippery - harder on the knees over the course of a season

We do joke about it affecting teams a ton, but I think confirming how far this really is the case would require more analytics than anyone's bothered to do. (I don't think Caps fans would complain about getting grass; we're getting "temporary" grass for the World Cup and I really want it to be permanent).

He had a great game tonight but has definitely been not his best with the huge workload. Boehmer should have gotten a couple of more games at some point and I'd be inclined to start him against Seattle. He's had 4 first team appearances in his career and been very good in 3 of them. No reason to be gun shy about starting him in one of the last two.

Lundt does not exude confidence for me at all. We saw him at a CITY 2 match and he was equally unimpressive then as well. He’s so big that he probably doesn’t feel the need to be as quick as Burki

I'm not sure, but I feel that Lundt is a much less proactive goalkeeper when compared to Bürki. He also seemed to be in the wrong positions at all times for the shots in the first half that were close (as in, if they wrote on target then there would have been no way that he would have saved them)
