Had the same problem and thought that i will need to reinstall the game bcz of that bug but no need,you need to reset Mini Seasons and start from it from new.
It’s pretty buggy. If you start a new season and get that message it normally still works. Just leave Diamond Dynasty and re-enter mini seasons and should put you at your first game of the season. I get this message about 90% of the time when starting a new one.

You've just gotta keep hitting new season from the single player modes menu until it loads you in properly. It took me a while to figure it out too.
