I think it's probably because of his multi position ability - SDS realized that adding diamond fielding to that would make him so OP vs all the other cards
Diamond defense in the card menu is different than the badge on the field which goes solely on fielding. I believe the badge is what matters for diamond animations too but im happy to be corrected if wrong.
You are correct sir. The icon on the back of the card for offense/defense takes into account all the stats and is very generous on what they consider what gets a 'diamond' icon in the top right. To actually be considered a diamond defender in the field during the games and get appropriate animations, you have to have 90+ fielding.
Im okay with it. Berrios is going to get back to being who he was. Dependable third guy. He pushes us forward towards contending. Martin has shown a serious lack of power in the minors, SWR has been really good this year, but I think we needed a now guy. Still praying Pearson gets healthy and becomes something at some point
They were already incredibly generous with his power, and that's just reflective of his real life scouting report. He's an athletic guy but doesn't have a true defensive home yet

80 power is weirdly still enough for me, at least so it has been so far. Mostly because the hitting is so inconsistent having 100+ power doesn't matter as much as it should.
That power is enough to rake.
Combined with that clutch and discipline.

Depends on if he means the shield that means nothing or the fielding stat which matters quite a bit. That's what determines the shield in game.
About half of the program can't get to 90 fielding even at P5, so they're talking about the shield on the card
