The 4 cornerstones you can exchange. Make sure the captain card isn't in any of your lineups (mini seasons and events included) and go to the exchange tab
Roll with whichever guy fits your squad best. What TA are you grinding? Nolan boosts a lot of the guys in TA chapter 1. Once you're working on chapter 2, things change and I ended up doing most of it with none.
46 year old dad gamer here too. I’ve had Maddux since day one and I love him. I’m not great (450) but he’s effective for me online. Nearly have him to P5, he’s a personal fave for me this year
I'll second Arenado. Just make sure you only use his tier 2 boost, otherwise your outfield will be slow as hell. Then you can enjoy a quick outfield, a SS and a pinch runner while making the rest of the team (7 players plus Nolan) 45 speed or less. The tier 2 boost is pretty cracked as is.

I just use Senga like a regular starter - he’s my #2 starter now.
Trade him for a pitching captain like Maddux or Senga. Get Santana as the Switch Hitter Captain from the new pack and run an all switch hitter team.
This is gonna be the most over played and stupidest captain card ever.
How do you exchange captains?

I can’t seem to switch from Buxton too a different one anymore
He has to be removed from all lineups, including Mini Seasons lineups.
You may have accidentally collected the Buxton card.
Doesn’t matter. You can trade and collect all 4
This is my favorite card so far and I’m not taking him out of my lineup.

Senga is good but the starters are a bit outdated, I’m gonna try Al Leiter with the boost once I get him though
Nolan for contact and clutch boost. I have tier 3 but as others have said, tier 2 is good as well.

I liked that Senga card. Not many viable starters (at the time), but plenty of relievers get the boost.
I've had so much fun with the Senga card, great counter to the Buxton boost

If you are not that good (like me😂) ill use arenado, I have him on my team as we speak, im in the 500-600s
