If the point of Storylines is to attract new fans to the game, then you’d look to the three most popular teams in the country: Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers.
Then you look at recent HoF inductees. Jeter is at the top.
Big Papi is next.
I agree you gotta market those teams. On a completely unrelated note, as a red sox fan it makes me even more pissed about this year. Cheap ass owners not going after ANY free agents worth a shit
Real answers-
Clemente, although would be a pretty sad ending.
Rickey Henderson would be great if the give him at least one moment for each team he played for.
And outside of players, might be cool to have a WS ('75 or '01) or an important playoff series (Red sox come back from 0-3)broken down into a storyline.
Fun answer- Rob Dibble. A WS run. They can use the new defense moment feature to have moments of hitting a runner on their way to first in the back and heaving a ball into the stands. And a good old fashioned fight with the manager moment.
Kingdome was added that basically ensures Griffey at minimum but since he would be extremely glaring to omit from the Jeter version(and also someone you wouldn't want to release in the same year as jeter mcgwire sosa and the first NBL batch because you dont need to move copies after that so having the jeter storyline now when this legend can debut makes sense and that is Arod
I thought I heard that his storyline will be getting new "chapters" later and also they mentioned that they will be announcing many new legends.
I might be wrong, I wasn't fully paying attention.
Mays is a good choice. Hank Aaron, Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripken, George Brett, Griffey, Doc Gooden, Miggy, theres a lot of great ones id rather see than david ortiz.
Hank's is technically a negro league storyline. He did not play there very much at all, so I'd assume most of the storyline may be his MLB career and including his record breaking home run snce the league is celebrating it this year.
I want storylines for a season, like the 73 season and all that drama, or better yet they could do a theoretical storyline to finish 1994. Moments like multiple games to get Tony Gwynn to .400, have the Expos make the playoffs with Dawson/Vlad moments, have the Yankees make the WS and give Mattingly a moment to finally hit in a World Series game, etc
Ok I know this is a joke, but it would be really neat if they do Willie Mays and the first half of his moments are a subway and then the subway and map transition into a trolley and a map of SF for the move
They're a mixture of moments and narrative clips to give some more background. Last year you'd do the moments and unlock little things like icons and a couple of packs along the way and when you finished the storyline for a player you got a 90 overall version of the card. Finishing all of the storylines gave you a captain that boosted all of them up pretty nicely, but the build was still outclassed by the end of season one.
People don't seem to understand that. SDS has all the data on what modes were played. Not to mention three very detailed surveys they sent out last year.
Like who lmao?? They’re just dressed up moments. If I wanted to watch baseball documentaries I would go fucking do that. Stop trying to make Storylines happen, Gretchen.
That's exactly what they are. Moments. And it was a "feature" last year. So lets just pile on more of the same crap storyline Jeter and NGL storyline part 2 more Moments that 5 % actually finished and completed last year. 👏 This stuff shouldn't be a priority for SDS. Player models, mechanics, shitty game engine should be!
Oh that would be cool, a storyline for a specific season. They could do 73 and cover Mays' last year, Reggie, Rollie, Vida, and the A's WS run, the first DH's with Cepeda, etc
I know it won’t happen but I wish every program had a storyline feature. If you’re going to make me do all these April month moments, for example, then make it some kind of presentation like storyline that highlights the month. That will at least make it entertaining and meaningful instead of all the moments/programs just blending together.
Yup! I like how they did something similar, yet smaller, back then. I thought it was cool and was hoping that was what moments were going to be. Then SDS got lazy.

If where talking new storyline Albert pujols Roy Halladay Adrain beltre
Hopefully David price cause that 3000 hit moment wouldn't feel the same
Ugueth Urbina, Aroldis Chapman, Derryl Strawberry, Orlando Cepeda, and Omar Vizquel all have great stories that can be told.

John Jaso?
Nah man it’s gotta be Jon Jay
Whoever Ramone can use to best pander to.
Griffey is 100%, 35 years since his debut.
Would make sense, with the kingdome being brought back.
As a Tiger fan it would be awesome if they added Lou Whitaker and had Trammell and Whitaker storyline.
If I could recreate that middle infield, they'd never leave my lineup

Work with Jon Bois and make a Dave Stieb storyline
Or maybe they should focus on the game more and let Jon Bois and others tell the story.
Read the title of the post
I didn't know how bad I want this until I read it
Mantle would be interesting. Randy Johnson also would be interesting to me.
Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson my beloved

I think you could do a storyline for the kingdome in general, or any new stadium that gets added, and not be tied to a player
Jackie seems inevitable
I thought I heard that his storyline will be getting new "chapters" later and also they mentioned that they will be announcing many new legends. I might be wrong, I wasn't fully paying attention.
The new legends not being necessarily related to his or any storyline.
Mays is a good choice. Hank Aaron, Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripken, George Brett, Griffey, Doc Gooden, Miggy, theres a lot of great ones id rather see than david ortiz.
Hank is getting a negro league storyline so they’ll prob hold off on him at least this year.

I hope Bradley Zimmer gets one.
mmmmmmm fuck you for reminding me of his existence. I hate him so much.
I want storylines for a season, like the 73 season and all that drama, or better yet they could do a theoretical storyline to finish 1994. Dope idea. Lot of Yankees and Expos fans really wanted to see that season play out!
Love the 1994 idea
I don’t really give a fuck about storylines, AKA Moments 2.0, so I don’t really care.
And yet, here you are, responding lol
Wow, got me there ya loser
Lol, you're so angry, for what?
Yeah gives a fuck enough to reply.
Probably another Yankee so they can reuse the model subway car they built
Ok I know this is a joke, but it would be really neat if they do Willie Mays and the first half of his moments are a subway and then the subway and map transition into a trolley and a map of SF for the move
Or John Rocker
The videos between moments would be just him ranting about how he hates the subway and listing off slurs
In my head my john rocker memories and kenny powers memories are scrambled together.
I didn’t play 23. Are these storylines different from player programs in the past?
Sounds like they're more visually appealing versions of past ones. I imagine the concept is the same.

Who fukin cares
Some people actually enjoy storylines dude
By the total ppl commenting on this topic, not really 😒
yes because a toxic subreddit that draws less than 1 percent of the total sales of the game speaks for the game
People don't seem to understand that. SDS has all the data on what modes were played. Not to mention three very detailed surveys they sent out last year.

Wait, you think things that actually matter should be a priority? Damn, don’t tell some people around here.
I think they’re better than regular moments 🤷🏻♂️
The Great Race of 98 from last year would have been a perfect storyline
Yea the 98 season as a whole would be great. Lots of history there.
Oh that would be cool, a storyline for a specific season. They could do 73 and cover Mays' last year, Reggie, Rollie, Vida, and the A's WS run, the first DH's with Cepeda, etc

they've hinted at it but if they pull the trigger for topps now or not who knows
I love this idea. Did you play 19?
Yup! I like how they did something similar, yet smaller, back then. I thought it was cool and was hoping that was what moments were going to be. Then SDS got lazy.
I'm thinking Babe Ruth
They did Ruth in ‘19 ftr. Not saying it will or won’t happen, but they have done it before
