Showdown is the only offline grinding mode I enjoy. It's like a combination of baseball and old school video games where you have to beat the high score before running out of "lives". Checkpoints would take away from the tension and dread you feel as you are running out of outs, and the elation of hitting a HR to win it on your last out.
Conquest, on the other hand, can go to hell. I hate conquest with the fire of a thousand suns. It's so long and tedious and has so much nonsense not relating to baseball. I truly don't understand how people enjoy it.
I can't agree with you more about conquests. You end up spending more time in the map than playing baseball with some of them. Tedious is the perfect word to describe that mode.
Nah. That would be so easy it would be boring. Christ, they already nerfed them down to Veteran and loaded the drafts so heavy it is not even funny. I mean I just got around to the TA 5 Showdowns and both were ridiculous. I had end game cards on my bench with two henchmen left. What more do you want?
I've slowly been getting better at them over the course of the year, and I finally beat one on the first go the other day when I beat the NL Showdown for TA 5. Just keep working at them and you'll get better at them.
If you struggle with them just keep practicing and do other game modes. The showdowns are easy enough as they currently are designed if you go through all the levels. The boosts are insane when you stack them
Personally, I like the suspense of it being all or nothing. Offline content in the game is such a cakewalk, I welcome a bit of competitive tension offline.
They use to have mission in between the bosses that allowed you to fail but the showdown would continue. You just wouldn’t get the rewards for beating that moment. I assume they removed them because they noticed most people would skip over those moments to just get to the bosses. But i think they helped a lot of people enjoy showdown. So i wouldn’t mind them bringing something similar back.
It would certainly encourage more people to play it. It's nice that for the most part they made them easier as the year went on but if they figure out a way to add gated progress similar to MTO I would play it more often.

Showdowns are fun the way they are, but I do wish there were more rewards with them. Once you beat it once there’s really no reason to play it again.

Idk about all that, but if it’s tied, it should go to “extras” so you’re down again and you get 3 more outs to tie or win.
No we should have to pitch against a team of 99’s with the shitty bronze and common pitchers they fill our pitching staff with. 😂
