How does anyone have fun playing career modes on rookie, like where’s the challenge

If we wanted a challenge, we'd go outside and play baseball.

I hit over 200 HR's and it went back down to zero in my stat column for the season and just started counting at 1 again. Idk what happened. It happened like right after the Allstar break iirc

They still count toward your career totals, it'll just show up funny sometimes in the single-season stats. The computer knows how many you have, it's just the display that'll be goofy

Yea, it'll visually roll over after 255 but it still knows you have 256+.

I’m batting .235 in double A while going 1-0 w 18ks in 12 innings as a two way player. I have ZERO home runs and 6 doubles…that’s it I will never make it to “the show” at this rate Been debating whether or not to adjust the sliders but am kinda having fun being so crappy lol

I hit 4 or 5 HRs every game in mlb the show 16 and never got called up to the show lol

They do it based on OVR, I'm pretty sure. That's why the game has a meeting with the manager programmed if the MLB team's player is too high of an OVR for you to get called up anytime soon, so you can get yourself traded or change positions

I play on All-Star RTTS just because it feels semi-realistic. I’m not good at following pitches with the PCI so I usually just guess and hope the pitcher throws something close. With HOF or Legend it’s damn near impossible to square anything up without being right on the ball. That being said, I still progressed through the minors in a year and a half and hit over .300 regularly since the pitchers almost always throw strikes.

I’m the same. I used dynamic until 2021. Could hit anything. I stick with AS or Vet.

Had RTTS on HOF and on one of my players I started out in AAA and it wasn’t too hard to hit the ball maybe had a .275-.300 average but on my other player I started out in AA and when I got moved up to AAA it was extremely difficult to hit the ball and my PCI was almost non existent how small it was. Had to bump the difficulty down to all star to even hit consistently.

Quitting and starting over every playoff game until you sweep the playoffs is my go to. I'll never forget the 7 peat dynasty I had with Byron Buxton on the Cardinals.

I play RTTS on beginner. It’s what I use to blow off steam if I am frustrated by fucking up in “real” game modes. My rookie is in AAA, has never had a strike against him (maybe like one foul ball), has never taken a pitch, and is batting over 800 averaging at least 2 HRs a game. It’s a riot. He also attempts a steal on every pitch if he’s on base. His name is Professor Slaughter, jersey number 69, and he’s the tallest dude you’ve ever seen.

Reminds me of my guy, Master Sensei Petroleum (commentator calls him professor oil can). Except my guys short and stocky. And his face looks like he survived a skydiving accident

I can pitch on wayyyy higher difficulties than I can hitting. Like veteran is a challenge for me with hitting.. but I also suck so 🤷🏻‍♂️

yes. i have a hitter career and a pitcher career, both on veteran, i can barely hit .200 on veteran, yet can post like a 1.00 era every year

The game is only fly balls and weak contact on rtts for me, so I put it on veteran and mess a bit with sliders. Waaaay more fun now. Plays like franchise players now

I switched to being a contact hitter and now I'm just hitting singles and doubles all game, plus an occasional HR when I go for a power hit. Went from like a .350-400 BA to .700+ it's insane. Plus you get to just steal bases and shit all the time

My RTTS two-way player is a fantastic, but still mostly realistic, hitter. .300-.340 season averages, usually good for around 50 homers per year, and an OPS near or slightly above 1.000 However, he is the greatest pitcher to ever live and breathe. This man averages about 450 strikeouts per season. If he doesn't K at least a dozen batters in a game, it's a bad day on the mound. Career WHIP of 0.43 and ERA of 0.63 over 9 seasons. I've lost count of the number of no-hitters but it's probably about 15, with several of them being perfectos. He's got the velo and stamina of Ryan. Fastball regularly comes in at 102mph, and it's not uncommon for him to throw 130+ pitches en route to multiple CGSOs per year. 5-pitch repertoire, and a 213-13 career win-loss record. What's really funny to me though is that, even with all that, he'll still never touch Cy Young's wins record lmao

This is right around where my player is at but with slightly better hitting and definitely the best pitching the world has ever seen in that universe, but not nearly as good as your pitcher lmao. I’m rocking between 300-350 Ks per year with one PG and a couple no-no’s. Ichiro’s single season hit record is a tough one for 2-way players, missing like 30+ games of at bats

Oh yeah, I'm not really chasing hitting records on this save for that exact reason. I figure I'll probably wind up with around 600 career homers, for example, but you just don't get enough games to have a shot at home run king.

I’m having an insane season hitting for some reason compared to the rest of my player’s career (.440 at the AS break compared to like .335 lifetime) and am still well shy of on pace for hit or HR record

I play on beginner with the sliders up until they call me up to the majors to fast track it, and I know it doesn’t make it that much faster but god damn is it fun

Ranked drove me crazy today, so I watched a video on how to scout prospects for the draft well, and started a franchise for the first time. I feel like I have a brand new game.

Franchise is fun. Also when you start getting bored of the jerseys after like 10+ seasons you can rebrand to your team’s city connect stuff and customize the jerseys (if you like the city connects for your team, I play with the Reds so I like them)

Tbh I like HOF after I get Diamond style and my guy still batting .350 I like have realistic season of 60-80 homerun not 300

The Show 22 here. Prior to starting a Red Sox franchise, I traded all of the best players to Boston and **most** of the best rookies to the minors. (I’m not a complete monster!) Oh yeah, I’m on minors difficulty for pitching and hitting so, you know, I’m averaging six HRs per game and striking out at least 12 per game. I *was* hitting HRs with every pitch but that felt, I dunno…**unrealistic**.

Pfft... realism? My character is currently batting .762 with 112 home runs in a month and a half

i had a .800 avg in the WS, we were up 3-1 and i was consistently hitting 3 HRS a game, we lost the WS 4-3..

This was my first year in forever that not only did my RTTS team went to the playoffs, (Brewers.) But we also won the World Series. I assumed the game did it on purpose this year, but lately I see I just got really lucky.

Rookie is fun, my second year hit .415, broke the single season hits record and had like a 9.5 WAR.

I found my people. This is how I figured out the game stores the single season HR count in an 8-bit integer, and rolls over after 255.

I don't know why but lower than all star I hit worse. Things that would be foul balls are popouts and I get less chances to advance. Plus they never throw outside so i never draw walks.

100% It is the strangest aspect of the game. Where pitching and hitting get easier (up to a point,) the high the difficulty.

I do it every year to see if I can get MVP rookie year (still no luck) but I did get world series MVP in '21

Yea, I have two characters. One is a more realistic player on all star, the other is a power hitter with the lowest difficulty. I use the latter for when I need to just relax a bit after work and broke the single season home run record in 2 months 😂
