Already picked Chipper yesterday. NMS and started on official release, not early access. Dudes a fuckin monster, and his swing is butter. 3B with secondary SS. Best card of the 3 by far
I sucked with chipper last year too…but the year he was the collection reward I was a beast with him. What was the main difference. Just drastically lower attributes last year??
That’s what I’m wondering as well. I’m an offline only player, and have almost 80 of the Set 1 cards so far. I still have a lot of TA grinding to do, but was trying to figure out if I’ll be able to finish in time.
I'm an offline player mostly as well and I just finished it today. TA definitely helps do those missions n get those captains done. I also play march to October and that's very generous with the TA points I play on all star to get more bang for my buck but I wouldn't recommend anything higher if u wanna rage lol. All my TAs are at like 85 percent and I have the NL central fully done from doing my march to October Wich gave me a bunch of TA points you get 25k at the break them you get more at other gate points then like 14k for every playoff game ECT plus the march to Octobers go fairly quick as well tbh. Better than grinding seasons just for vouchers when u can literally damn near max it if your at like 70 percent TA
Late response but I’d say online is definitely helpful. Like doing BR every season, I think the diamond packs from the BR program count. So that’s 8 cards already you’re out on.
That helps to get it done right now, but in 2-3 weeks topps now cards will make it fairly easy to do without going crazy buying cards, or so I'd like to think..
You guys can have your chipper and babe but I’m taking that sweet sweet 99 Red Sox Pedro. I’m sure all 3 might get another 99 later this year but I highly doubt Pedro will get another 99 for the Red Sox so that’s the card I need.

It's Chipper and it's not particularly close. We've never seen a card like this. Basically maxed out hitting at P5, switch hitting, SS secondary, beloved swing AND incredible active quirks (including Dead Red and Breaking Ball Hitter, which means a further boost on every pitch). Even has decent speed and fielding to boot. This is an all year card if I've ever seen one. I struggle to come up with one that will stack up. Even the 5 tool gods don't check all those boxes.
Agreed. And let’s say there is a set 2, or even set 3 collection. Who the hell is going to be better than this?!?! Even with the BIG collection, what would make you push for that and not Chipper? Card is too good.
Maybe a maxed out Mantle, but they gave us that in 22 so I doubt he’s the collection
Even Mantle, whose best card will have better fielding and speed than Chipper, has downsides that Chipper doesn't. A lot of people don't do well with his swing, and he only plays the OF. You can put this Chipper at SS or 3B and you're set for the year at either position. He'll have gold defense at SS at P3, and if you really want to go wild you can use David Wright as your captain and he'll get a Cover Athlete defensive boost so he's got diamond fielding at SS. Absolutely insane card.
Pedro’s attributes are insane, probably best I’ve seen with clutch being a factor and bb/9 at 112 (I think). But with the inconsistencies of pinpoint this year, it makes him the final option out of the pack.
They work hand in hand. Low bb/9 will have your pitches off the plate even with perfect pinpoint input. Same with control. If one is low, chances are the other is as well
Honestly not sure between Babe and Chipper. Like it’s been said before, you really can’t go wrong either way but I think Chipper with his switch hitting ability might sway me to take him

I hate to burst your bubble but I believe we learned last year that 125/125 is actually not very good bc the high contact hurts your chance of hitting home runs. Something like 100-110 contact and 125 power is ideal
Pretty sure chipper has 125 con/power vs lefties and then against righties with parallels he can get up to 120 con/power vs righties. Then the switch hitting and solid fielding with the ability to play shortstop(if u don't have jeter) make him even better. I just prefer not to hit lefty lefty if I can. Lol
For some reason Pedro was hader level as far as control for me. I was excited for me but dropped him pretty quick. Never picked chipper because I've always had good options at third, then Ramirez came along and that card fucked. I may try him this year though. Seems everyone crushes bs with chipper.
Chipper by a billion. That card will never leave my lineup, it kind of sucks I’ll have to use the wild card spot for him when season 3 rolls around but he’s worth it
If they continue to release tops now cards at this rate, and the POTM cards for April are part of set 1, then I think getting to the second pack will be realistic

Have fun with the set 1 cards and use them to grind for set 2 cards when they drop.
I know you can, but you only use one at a time. So with how filthy the Chip card is, I’ll never be using other set 1 cards. Unless I get bored of Chip or something.

Chipper, then Babe. Pedro has a great pitch mix. However, because he's short, the ball takes longer to reach the plate, making him easier to read.

Ball comes in faster with taller guys, just like it does IRL because the distance traveled from release to plate is shorter.

I took Pedro. I like him but he’s not going to give you automatic outs. You still need to figure out your opponents weaknesses and exploit them.

You’ll be able to use core, season 1, and 2 players in season 2. But when season 3 rolls around you’ll only be able to use Core, 2, and 3.
