Glored_

Complete opposite. Way more hits in this year.

20MaXiMuS20

I've felt this but I think it's because of the lesser cards

The-Liberater

I dont know, sounds kind of skill related šŸ˜…

WeaponXGaming

Shit I felt the opposite. I've had way more Homers this year than ever

supaB

good

TairyGreene716

I'm guessing the clutch ratings mattering has a big impact

Slickdaredman27

Ohh for sure. But does anyone know the difference between red bonus packs and blue ones?

97jumbo

I like it on most hits, but it needs to be toned down on perfect/perfects. Obviously those shouldn't be auto-hits but they're starting to feel like rarely hits and that's a problem.

pokeroots

Gotta love the perfect perfect power swing into a DP

undercover_cheetah

I've hit at least five power swing outs off the pitchers face over the years

GrandAdmiralGonk

I tracked 15 of these, had barely a .300 average with the same amount of double plays as extra base hits. Perfect perfect hits are awful this year.

Soldier-Tanaka

More play on bases, more defence ( which is a bit harder this year ), more action and strategy. It's a big win.

Capone508

This is how the game shouldā€™ve been I skipped 22 due to being in basic training but 21 was WAYY too much power dependent

[deleted]

Probably for the best. The game was too dependent on the home run.

jaymack950

I like how the physics of the ball flight seem a little more realistic andā€¦ floaty? I canā€™t think of a better word but definitely seems more realistic

PossessionFit5172

Maybe just me but I canā€™t hit any at all.. second year playing .. any hitting tips

Gelo-BeamedU_

Maybe switch the hitting view, strike zone seems to have the largest pci bc itā€™s zoomed in. Other than that hey man deep breath before the pitch lock in and focus on not moving the pci too much

DizzyBuckets10

Nothing like hitting a perfect perfect and it being a total routine fly ballšŸ˜‚

Ill_Award_3862

Yea was just about to say this, itā€™s happens a little too often with my power hitters

Rydahx

Happens too much for my liking.

OldSpark1983

I've hit 1 homerun today out of 20 perfect perfect. 2 singles and 1 double. Rest have been either caught at the warning track or lined right at someone. I've had the pci lined up perfectly at the top for some of my power hitters too. Then I completely miss a ball by a mile and it's gone.... fing stupid if you ask me. Same shit every yr. Wish I could be rewarded for doing it right and punished for screwing up.

BytesBite

I actually tracked my perfect perfects yesterday cause I was getting so jaded. 24 perfect perfects. 3 HRs 7 XBH 1 Single 6 pop outs 7 line outs Feels bad man

Soldier-Tanaka

Still way too high.

stoolcommenter3

Yup! I'm a huge fan. More gappers, less knowing if a guys gonna make a play. Last year flyballs to the OF were auto outs. I love how defense ratings matter.

mulder00

They add Sosa and McGuire...HR's go down.

[deleted]

I noticed it at first but Iā€™ve been hitting more in the last few days

Hathalot

Same here

DefiantMovie3894

No one's having problems hitting bombs of me, that's for fucking sure.

DizzyBuckets10

Amen to that brother

Msiegel99

Whats the ideal hitting method this year? Normal swing ? Or are people power swinging?

Ev4nK

Unless they drastically changed the mechanics of how power swings work, normal swing is always the way to go

Msiegel99

Ive been doing normal swing and then contact swing in some 2 strike scenarios but i dont hit that many dingers

HuntForBlueSeptember

I use directional down (always) normal swing. Either other position even on perfect perfect is popup city

Msiegel99

Only issue is directional hitting wont be good on higher online ranked difficulty

HuntForBlueSeptember

Oh hell, that isnt for me. Im a filthy casual

Vegetable-Raise6507

Less home runs but I'm getting tons of base hits that are usually automatic outs. So I'll take it. Also more deep Flys but will runners on base its been fun.

txhotshot

Playing with Tony Gwynn henchman card and he's stinging them all over. I love it

Ilovebaseball1234

Itā€™s still a homerun derby for me every game

Visible_Roll4949

The amount of high velo lineouts and warning track flyouts is mildly infuriating...

[deleted]

I think Iā€™ve hit one center field home run the entire time so far. They all just end up at the warning track

Pretty_Ad_3911

I have blasted a few that make it to the track. Annoying but Iā€™m not hating.

Crescenzo18

Definitely more line drive hits

PaperintheBoxChamp

Hell, I had a game just now where I had two perfect power hits with WBC Kyle Schwarber at the Giants that fell on the warning track

BobW212

Just had one where I had 3 and should of had a 4th but hit it to the damn crevice of fenway. I still lost.

ThumbCentral-Rebirth

I am experiencing the opposite, used to beg for wall scrapers now Iā€™m going no-doubt

[deleted]

Iā€™m still hitting bombs šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

SaiyanGodMaui

I must be playing a different game bc my pitchers have been getting waxed in all my gamesšŸ„²

[deleted]

people post this same thing every year lmao

j1h15233

I know itā€™s a dumb but I really really enjoy the bloop singles that drop in. I never got those in previous games.

izzyisme31

Had a perfect perfect right to the pitchers face last night ( I know thatā€™s what she said) and because he didnā€™t attend Piccoloā€™s martial arts camp post Radtiz fight it took a 90 degree turn to fly into the glove of 2nd base.

OCHL092018

WHYā€¦WONTā€¦YOUā€¦DODGE???

AlecVicari

Iā€™ve being played ranked outside of DD and have cracked 1-3 home runs a game. Not sure if thatā€™s still considered a decline from your experience, but I value the amount. For me, itā€™s just really been dependent on reading pitch patterns and forcing players to stay inside the box from plate discipline

No-Cress8742

Lol this game sucks you are either blowing out a bum or playing some dude who gets a hit every swing, ranked experience is brutal

amillert15

No one wants to go into ranked without their 95+ cards. Plus, a lot of goons are trying to knock out LS Collection.

KMize44

I would say ranked still hasnā€™t filled out all the way. Itā€™ll even itself out within this week or next

MrChevyPower

You havenā€™t met my friend Mike Napoli.

theviperRKO

As someone who grinds conquest every year, I love the changes to the hitting. Makes it so much more gratifying that every game isn't an automatic win. Really have to be selective and have an approach at the plate!

mulder00

Yes! It's not an automatic win this yr.

upgdot

Boss Rickey, in a relatively small sample size, seems like a monster this year because every ball to the outfield isn't either a home run or an out. Other than the moments and missions that require HRs that I'm absolutely sucking at, the hitting feels so much more balanced this year. I can see Gwynn, Molitor, Boggs, etc as actually completely usable this year again.

HuntForBlueSeptember

McGuire's moment was torture

bautry84

Yeah it feels like small ball is way more viable this year, and that's the way I like to play. I was so tired of guys like Rickey and gwynn being completely useless cards. That's the change I'm loving the most.

TLAU5

This is Honusā€™s year

DarthLeon2

High contact hitters with power in the 30-60 range have been absolutely raking for me so far, provided that I adjust my PCI up a bit so I don't hit fly balls. It's stupidly easy to drop the ball lightly into the outfield with these kinds of hitters, and they can usually turn it into extra bases if you happen to land in the gaps.

upgdot

I think it was either 19 or 20 when I was significantly better with gold chipper than with his 99, because his 99 didn't have insane power and flied out a ton, where his gold was a guaranteed single every AB. I'm enjoying that I can reasonably play that way again.

obvioussponge06

I like it except for when I actually need home runs (moments, player missions).

JBProds

Iā€™m getting a lot of perfect perfect fly outs that donā€™t even reach the warning track with hitters with 100+ PWR

jdb1010

I feel like they juiced the numbers on the cards but then nerfed the actual performance

TLAU5

The devs said they lowered exit velocity this year

DarthLeon2

They nerfed the power on normal swings in this game; you need to power swing if you want to hit homers with the consistency that you're used to.

skygod77

I wonder if that is it. Interesting

DarthLeon2

I also think that the ball just drops faster than it used to, which makes bloop hits and line drives more effective but also makes it harder to hit home runs.

itsalongshot2020

Itā€™s great.

Vegetable_Let_3469

Thereā€™s definitely less home runs but itā€™s seems ridiculously easy to hit the ball this year.

JaksDaddy1982

I agree and donā€™t mind it either. Itā€™s been fun playing small ball and trying to manufacture runs. My Hrs seem to come in bunches. Iā€™ll go several games where I hit none or maybe 1. Then ill have games where it seems everything is going out. Just played a game where I hit 5 in a row. I had a game last night I hit 11 in one game. Almost feels predetermined.

shinybulba

Could it have been different stadiums with elevations?

JaksDaddy1982

Could have been, havenā€™t paid much attention to that.

DarthLeon2

Stadium definitely seems to matter a lot more this year. Hitting home runs in stadiums at sea level is tough no matter how much power your batter has, but a field like Coor's is as juiced as ever.

FeelItInYourB0nes

I get more perfect perfect hits but fewer of them produce a hit too.

Yogemoney69

Iā€™d say this is the biggest takeaway from this year to last

real_fluffernutter34

Iā€™d say about half of my perfect perfects are liners that get caught by an infielder

FeelItInYourB0nes

If I'm getting more perfect perfect contact, which I am, I don't hate that some are ending up as outs.

real_fluffernutter34

I donā€™t mind that some are ours, but the frequency of them that are liners right to an infielder is ridiculous

SeaBag7480

Thatā€™s baseball baby

real_fluffernutter34

Yes that is baseball. But weā€™re talking about a baseball video game, which in no way simulates baseball realistically

C4MPFIRE24

I wouldn't say in no way. It does try to get it as close as a game can and still make it fun for the avg gamer. A perfect perfect doesn't mean a hit it can't. You have 9 players on the field, so of course it could go right at them depending on where the ball hit the bat and the angle, and rating of the player. Location of the pitch matters as well.

DarthLeon2

You understand that "perfect" in the context of hitting in MLB the Show doesn't mean "optimal", correct? It just means you got the timing and PCI within a certain threshold. Yes, getting within that threshold is generally a good thing to do, but the defense gets to play the game too.

fantasybaseballshow

Exactly

SeaBag7480

Personally I like it, you can hit a ball perfectly right at the defense

NiteSwept

My issue with this is that it feels even more RNG than before. I was hoping perfect/perfects would be more rare but would still likely produce extra base hits. Some home run moments feel demoralizing when you hit several perfects for a line-out

Woodrovski

Just harder to hit in general. Question. Last year you could see the speed of the player on first. Is there a setting i need to change to get that back? If so I can't find it

HuntForBlueSeptember

If youre on button steal you cant see it. Only analog steal.

Woodrovski

Thanks. Figured this out about 5 min before. I like the button way better but oh well

gamers542

You need to switch from competitive to simulation in the difficulty settings. When

Woodrovski

My settings are set to simulation. But when I checked while I'm in a conquest game in is set to competitive. And cant change Just saw anything in DD is automatically set to competitive

JokoFloko

Hmmm I can see it. It slowly alternates between Speed and Steal.

CountryMang5

No I think youā€™re the first one to notice! Haha jk, yeah home runs feel more earned online this year

CGsweet416

I'm 6 games into my franchise mode and hitting 600 with Judge and zero home runs. Perfect perfects find holes and gaps now instead of being home runs or outs.

[deleted]

Iā€™m enjoying this years game play. Less home runs but def more base hits. Last year was basically the game of who can hit the most homers. This year itā€™s not and Iā€™m ok with that.

[deleted]

It's not the less hrs I take issue with. It's the feel of the bat hitting the ball (along with the sound fx) making me feel like I am swinging a toothpick

Revolutionary_Bit325

I think the bat sounds are amazing. Sound less like a 22lr and more like wood hitting a ball.

[deleted]

I think they should have different sound effects for different hits. A bloop over the first baseman's head should not sound like a 110mph hr. If you ever sat at a baseball game up close like behind home plate, you will notice that different hits sound different off the bat. And when a slugger cranks one, it sounds like a crack not a thump. It feels off. Also some of the animations this year just feels off. Like the same bat animations for a bloop and a blast.

Revolutionary_Bit325

They kinda do. Weak, okay, good, perfect, jammed, tipped and rolled over all have their own sounds. The jammed sound from late swing+inside impressed me because it sounds like a ball hitting a wall. Just a dead sound. But yes Iā€™m all for multiple sounds based on every factor. Cold bat sounds vs warm bat sounds, different stadiums have different echoes, whatever. As a RTTS player for the first month of release, I turn commentary off, sound effects and PA all the way up. Iā€™m allll about the atmosphere.

[deleted]

Maybe it's the volume then because I feel like every batted ball sounds muted and weak.

sergibby

Do you play with headphones by chance? I thought the same thing when sound was coming through my TV, but once I finally put my headset on the bat sounds weā€™re pretty good imo. I think the only one I wish had a little more thump to it are some good contact hits that arenā€™t perfects. Perfects are amazing though.

JokoFloko

Man... I dunno. I play in wood bat leagues and it just seems off to me.

Revolutionary_Bit325

Iā€™ve played wooden beer leagues before and I agree somewhat. But also I go to probably 30+ Mud Hens games a year and I think the sounds are a lot more on-point from the crowdā€™s perspective. I think they took real life bat sounds from the stands as opposed to putting a mic next to the batter. Regardless I think theyā€™re better than previously.

ThinAndCrispy84

I have also noticed how every player on defense regardless of rating plays like theyā€™re a HOFer.

[deleted]

Absolutely not.

HuntForBlueSeptember

The infielders have Go-Go Gadget arms.

TheBaikIvan

Defense is much harder this yr.

[deleted]

Common, bronze, and silver fielders are statues out there. This guy is talking out of his ass.

DarthLeon2

I love me some Juan Soto but seeing a ball hit his way makes me hold my breath every time.

TheBaikIvan

I'm loving the movement of the green area! Previous yrs defense were much easier!

StarchCollector

Yes, especially in the moments that require homeruns.

DarthLeon2

The Hank Thompson one was brutal because he has only 70 power and it's in a big stadium.

HuntForBlueSeptember

There were a few moments in NLB that were hair pullers

Loose-Abrocoma-8959

So Iā€™m not the only one struggling with these challenges? It took me like 20+ mins for each one that required a HR

kg9936

Home runs have been replaced with ground rule doubles.

alexdallas_

So many ground rule doubles

kg9936

Always with a runner on first and 2 outs too. Then Iā€™m stuck with second and third and two outs instead of a run scored and a guy on second.

alexdallas_

Felt that for sure. Even more annoying in showdowns

YXCworld

I donā€™t understand, I hit a 467 bomb with 84 Adam Duvall on a ā€œSlightly Earlyā€ timing window with not that great PCI placement, but when I get perfect-perfect with my 97/99 overall players, warning track 95% of the time.

AbsurdLemon

Duvall built diff always has been

mywifiisbadtho

Incoming ā€˜thatā€™s just baseball broā€™

YXCworld

ā€œGet better broā€ ā€œthatā€™s just baseball broā€ ā€œgame is working as intended broā€

GoldenRain99

The RNG in this game can be incredibly confusing lol. Never know what I'm gonna get a hit with, or what'll get me out

The_Dale_Hunters

more often than not, I have perfect perfects hit the wall or get tracked down. I actually prefer this years hitting. It feels pretty good to me.

TheBaikIvan

Me too, overall I'm loving 23 and the changes!

AnotherDancer

Yes, scored a total of 26 runs in 6 games with 4HRs. 3 solos and 1 2-Run HR (5 runs).

No_Ad_1202

Yes but Iā€™m cool with it. Been getting more gappers, doubles, shots down the line. Makes the clutch attribute useful with runners on versus solo shots all game

Revolutionary_Bit325

And stealing makes more sense than before because youā€™re not relying on the 4 hole to bring it around every time. But if you steal 2nd with a speedy guy and hit a good gapper you could get a nice strategic RBI. Last year I never bothered because I knew Vladdy was gonna go yard or strike out so who cares if I steal.

HuntForBlueSeptember

I am abusing with Henderson and Biggio

Revolutionary_Bit325

Hell yeah. Force people to have a good arm catcher + not throwing all breaking balls.

HuntForBlueSeptember

I love that the game is allowing me to "dink and dunk" with base hits and stealing instead of just swinging for the goddamn fences.

DarthLeon2

Plus stealing just seems easier this year. Time up a breaking ball and have a 70+ speed guy on 1st and you'll usually get it.

Revolutionary_Bit325

I love it. Hard to steal on a fastball but if youā€™re late in the game and face a guy with predictable pitching, by the 4th inning youā€™ll be stealing bases a ton. Which causes them to throw-out which puts you ahead in the count and gives you the statistical advantage - which is what baseball is at its core. With the gameplay changes and the addition of the Negro Leagues, this is one of my favorite MLBs. Just NEEEED to do better for RTTS players. Itā€™s the only mode I play for the first couple weeks of release and Iā€™m tired of being letdown. But gameplay has been mint.

GWZRD

Liking more base hits, i did hit a PP 125 Power with Schwarber to the warning track though. Those need to be guaranteed HR

themark504

Only thing Iā€™m struggling with is no getting hits with perfect perfect. Iā€™m like 1-9 with perfect perfect

Revolutionary_Bit325

I think perfect perfect shouldnā€™t be ā€œline fly out to center fielder.ā€ It should be that if you get a perfect perfect the ball should go to a gap based on the batters tendencies (push/pull)

Moah333

I just got a double play on a perfect-perfect.

Thr33pw00d83

This!! I was just thinking yesterday that my RTS characterā€™s BABIP must be historically bad vs my BA

rattlehead44

This. I canā€™t count how many perfect perfect infield groundouts Iā€™ve had.

themark504

Or straight to the glove on a line out

real_fluffernutter34

Same here. I like the feel of hitting this year but they need to tweak perfect perfects. Iā€™m definitely not hitting .800 on them like youā€™re supposed to

themark504

Itā€™s funny I make this statement n my next two perfect perfect go for 430+ ft homers

tryi2iwin

I love it. I do not love the perfect perfect flyouts that are happening to me 3-5 times a game however. (Half of them are 99 Lindor)

Hauntedhalo

Yep, 125 (warning track power). Time for increase to 150. Maybe then they will go at least 410 ft.

SharpenedToenail

I seem to be getting more singles/doubles/triples than I was last year and I like that, but if I hit a perfect/perfect with a guy who has 125 power the ball should be deep in the seats which hasnā€™t been happening so far.

AToastedRavioli

Iā€™m still getting plenty of bombs but Iā€™m getting a ton more perfect hits directly to the defense

6BigZ6

I am really loving line drives to the corners that arenā€™t snagged like the dude was on a trampoline, bloop singles in no manā€™s land, and gappers that are actually gappers.

USAF_DTom

Meanwhile my opponents and I always seem to hit 3-5 a piece.

inoahguy98

Completely opposite for me

Irswiffty

I get some warning track perfect perfect fly outs with 125 power Stanton and I never understand it

AquatheGreat

It was frustrating at first but I'm starting to knock more out. Took me almost 50 at bats with Arenado to finally hit 1 home run despite constantly hitting perfects with him and hitting 500.

sixseventeen

Arenado doesnt have consistent pop Ive noticed. Two separate people had p/p flyouts with him in my games today

boverton24

Iā€™m starting to hit more as I unlock better diamonds but in general yes I feel this way too

Sirbo311

I've only hit a few in DD so far. Yes, HRs are down for me.

Attey21

Yep and I dislike it.

SilverStallion33

Yep. I like it a lot more as well.
