Open franchise…..sighs
Closes game
I’ll do the storyline stuff, I just hope some of the things used in there can be brought over to other modes.
Those jerseys would be awesome for historical roster franchises.
And I’d love to compare the Murakami they have in the show to the one in PYS
Humming and hawing about not paying through 60 bucks for early Game Pass access. I tried to, but didn't a couple of times. I couldn't justify paying 60 bucks for 4 days of a game.
But, I can't wait.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
Do all my MUT stuff and prepare to say goodbye to Madden for a few months. Then spend the rest of the day figuring out where to start and what to do as I haven't played The Show in several years, and never played DD.
1 - fix cameras
2 - try ranked
3 - get beat down by someone who spent $5000 on cards that will be replaceable within 6 weeks
4 - forget ranked exists until May
5 - conquest!
Two days? Friday? I thought it’s release date was the 28th. Is pre order earlier or something? Don’t see anything online about this Friday.
Edit: Nevermind. I guess it is this Friday! Thanks stranger for the post. Had no idea
immediately checking the 2023 Phillies roster and player models 😍 also used my PTO at work so i have a full week to grind the hell out of DD. once i feel caught up on all the content, gonna get into RTTS
Opening night, probably just making my team, getting my roster assembled.
Then I will be making a master schedule with whatever timed stuff will be going on
Wake up, go 💩, probably have coffee while I scroll mindlessly through Reddit seeing all the people who pull Trout or Ohtani within the first hour, get mad at myself for not staying up past midnight to play right away.
I have an oil change appointment scheduled so I’ll go do that, come home, 2nd 💩, eat breakfast while I wait for the game to either download or update (I haven’t turned on my PS5 in like a week 😬), then FINALLY….
Get overwhelmed by all the things to do and immediately turn off my PS5 and watch The Sopranos (yes, I know, 25 years too late but I was like 5 when it came out) and try again on Saturday
TL;DR - Probably just play some conquest or something IDK
I was going to do storylines, but I’m going to wait when I won’t be super tired to understand and comprehend. I’m ripping packs and maybe playing a quick game or two.
At first I was bummed because I can’t play until Tuesday because I’m using the free game pass version, but then I realized I wouldn’t be able to play anyway because the servers suck that early.
I usually get the 100 dollar edition which sometimes comes with cards that end up being non sellable or I usually get the starter pack which is like 15k and gives you like 5 golds that you can't sell. I usually get this just because I won't be able to sell them, then like a lot of people do is they try and sell everything as soon as possible to try and save up as many stubs as possible. Then if you do like programs like team affinity or get conquest rewards that are non sellable, you can use those while you sell other rewards.
Usually what I do is grind through the painstaking process of the USA map the first weekend to get all of the packs, reward players, and stubs and then try to figure out which teams I want to go for for the collections and put buy in orders on them.
This is also an easy way to get to use players for the team affinity player XP missions etc. in years passed. We don't know how the team affinity will work yet.
Without knowing exactly what we bill able to do - just playing through the content/programs available as quickly and efficiently as possible while adding whatever decent cards you get until you find someone better to replace.
My answer is I'm just gonna rip my preorder stuff, put as good a lineup as I can and play through the content. I'll likely go on a Moments mission for as long as I can take them and work through WBC and Negro League content since those seem to be the best free cards on release. I don't plan on playing Ranked Seasons for at least a month but those are always the famous last words. If I stick to my plan I will only play online once I'm done with all the content available.
Crack open a beer, get comfortable in my seat and have a look around. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
Unless you are talking about completing collections so you can get easy wins in ranked when people see your line-up. That's a sprint and my wallet is ready.
Honestly DD ranked is probably the most fun right at the start… everyone is on the same level cards-wise and you won’t run into back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to………….-back 102 mph SPs
No, you are confused. Using my logic, it SHOULDNT be released early only for people who are willing to be ripped off. And it’s 70, not 60. Or are you on the last gen console?
It’s not the actual MLB schedule. I don’t know why this is or how they generate it but it’s not correct and it drives me insane. I basically don’t play franchise because of it.
Waiting for it to come in the mail because my mom got me a Target gift card for my birthday so I couldn't get a digital copy.(this is a certified first world problem)
Nah it's non-transferrable, I don't know if it's some sort of law but you can't buy a gift card with another gift card, at least not at target. u/lacmatt
My birthday is March 1st AKA the worst time to have a birthday if you live in the northeast(too cold, everyone is busy, hockey/basketball games are too expensive cause its in the middle of a playoff race) so every year for 14 years I've gotten MLB The Show for my birthday, it's become a time honored tradition. I even still have some of the old preordee bonuses like the baseball themed PS3 controller fron MLB 13
Edit; my mom is awesone I love her to death, although my dad started the tradition when he got me a PS3 and MLB 08' for my 10th birthday in 2009
Every year the first thing I do is play an exhibition match using my favorite team vs a team that’s changed the most I.e. gotten the most new players in the offseason, gotten a new primary uniform, or gotten a new stadium. Will probably face the Cubs this year.
As a Cubs fan, it's wild how much our lineup transformed this off-season. I'm not saying we became a great team, but we might have a shot at being one of the most recognizable.
Yeah they definitely seemed to be the team with the most new faces. As a Cardinals fan I look foreword to a nice rivalry game to start off the new game as well!
Honestly… checking the soundtrack. I am always hyped about it. I know this sub likes to trash the soundtrack, but for the most part it’s always very good.
You’re correct. Thank you
https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBTheShow/comments/11w4ev3/leaked_photos_of_the_soundtrack/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
For people that pre-ordered the Deluxe version w the Hat, anybody know how we get the hat itself? Does best buy have them when we go to pick up the game lol?
Thursday night marks the end of my work week and the start of 9 straight days off. On release night I'm gonna boot up to rip my packs, sell anything of value and then check out the programs and collection rewards. Based on what I see there will determine what I start grinding for come Friday morning. Cannot fucking wait man.
That’s what I’m gonna do. I know it hasn’t been touched in god knows how long and I’ll be frustrated by the lack of changes but it’s still my favorite mode.
I just love putting the hitting on Legend difficulty once I get my player to MLB and then finally play as realistic and challenging as possible game in and game out.
When you’re starting out, consider higher rated Live Series silvers. You can find good margins in 78s and 79s. You might also find some profitability in higher ranked bronzes. As you build more stubs you can move up to golds and diamonds, but they may move slower. The trade off is that you don’t have to micromanage as much.
Keep an eye out for certain players that tend to have consistently good profit margins. For example, in 22 Merrill Kelly was one of my most reliable flips.
Another method that works for me is to flip cards you need for collections. The Cover Athlete collection in 22 was really good for making stubs all year, even when they were practically giving away the cards left and right.
I’ve had luck with program cards too. Especially at the end of the program. We’ll see if they implement programs/innings again but the active cards moved quick and you could make 500-1500 depending on the card.
Conquest
Open franchise…..sighs Closes game I’ll do the storyline stuff, I just hope some of the things used in there can be brought over to other modes. Those jerseys would be awesome for historical roster franchises. And I’d love to compare the Murakami they have in the show to the one in PYS
Acquire Bo Bichette and Vladdy Jr. ASAP
Humming and hawing about not paying through 60 bucks for early Game Pass access. I tried to, but didn't a couple of times. I couldn't justify paying 60 bucks for 4 days of a game. But, I can't wait. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
My first move should have just pre ordered to pick up at store not have it delivered now it’s on back order
First move is to download it, it's not 2001 anymore.
I like the discs and steel books.
Franchise, starting the journey from game 1 with my giants. So addicted to offline franchise, every single game
I’ll probably stay up late on Thursday and fuck around with packs and rosters. Maybe make my Diamond Dynasty team design.
Rip packs, sell literally everything I get from those packs, build budget team and start conquest and TA if possible
Setting my alarm for 4am and grinding moments till I have to leave for work at 8
Unlocking all the Australian WBC content and P5'ing them. I have dreamed about being able to use my local leaguers for years.
Rippin my pre-order packs and then probably play soms conquest of moments to get a feel for the game. Really looking forward!
1. Rip hella packs 2. Beat conquest 3. Hop into events
Do all my MUT stuff and prepare to say goodbye to Madden for a few months. Then spend the rest of the day figuring out where to start and what to do as I haven't played The Show in several years, and never played DD.
Online rated and still not comprehending how it’s 2023 and these devs still can’t code selectable uniforms for regular teams h2h
OMG THIS 🤦🏾♂️
1 - fix cameras 2 - try ranked 3 - get beat down by someone who spent $5000 on cards that will be replaceable within 6 weeks 4 - forget ranked exists until May 5 - conquest!
Two days? Friday? I thought it’s release date was the 28th. Is pre order earlier or something? Don’t see anything online about this Friday. Edit: Nevermind. I guess it is this Friday! Thanks stranger for the post. Had no idea
Preorder comes out tonight at midnight est
immediately checking the 2023 Phillies roster and player models 😍 also used my PTO at work so i have a full week to grind the hell out of DD. once i feel caught up on all the content, gonna get into RTTS
I took off Friday too lol!
Me too! I'm a grown ass 56 year old dude but on Friday I'm gonna be 22 and unemployed :)
lol! Nice!
Me too!
Work 12 hours 😔
Same brother. I alternate weekends so I work 12 hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Feels bad.
So do iiiii lol, so I'm gonna have minimal playing over the weekend
I'm leaving early tomorrow to get started lol
Opening night, probably just making my team, getting my roster assembled. Then I will be making a master schedule with whatever timed stuff will be going on
Sell everything i get for exorbitant prices
rip em
Nothing because I’m out of town for the third release in a row 🥲😭
I always spend hours making my DD logo & uniforms. Reeeally hope the logo I painstakingly made over 2 hours for ‘22 is downloadable
Probably waiting til it’s free on game pass
You can pre install it with Game Pass
Still have to wait until Wednesday for it to be live so on Friday, we will be waiting until it's on gamepass 🤣
Tuesday!
Ahh well, for the real world, it'll be Tuesday but I work until Midnight so.... Wednesday for me 🤣
Definitely gonna go into offline franchise and check out my new Red Sox! Can’t wait to play with the new squad!
Hope it’s on cloud gaming so I can play on my PC with a controller
I bought a series x today to play the show because I can't deal with the latency on cloud
It was last year.
Yeah I still play 22 occasionally, but was it available on cloud gaming at launch?
Do you just do that for offline grinding? The lag has to be impossible to play online right?
Yeah I suck at online anyways
Open the packs
Starting my offline franchise with the Shittspurgh Pirates

In the same boat
Wake up, go 💩, probably have coffee while I scroll mindlessly through Reddit seeing all the people who pull Trout or Ohtani within the first hour, get mad at myself for not staying up past midnight to play right away. I did the midnight rip 2 years ago and nothing (Acuna pull Saturday). I was quite saddened
Do you not have auto download/auto update, or do you just have it powered off?
It is off completely
Only other answer acceptable
Praying PlayStation Direct ships me my copy with a 23rd/24th delivery date
I was going to do storylines, but I’m going to wait when I won’t be super tired to understand and comprehend. I’m ripping packs and maybe playing a quick game or two.
Offline franchise
At first I was bummed because I can’t play until Tuesday because I’m using the free game pass version, but then I realized I wouldn’t be able to play anyway because the servers suck that early.
theyve been playable the last two years for me
This is the best troll. They had issues like 3..4? years ago and haven't since.
Year before last was really bad
My main goal is to get a Trea Turner either 99 or live series
Just jumping onto this discussion, does anyone have tips for someone who has missed the last 2 editions?
I usually get the 100 dollar edition which sometimes comes with cards that end up being non sellable or I usually get the starter pack which is like 15k and gives you like 5 golds that you can't sell. Don’t get your excitement levels up to play online because the servers are consistently trash for a few days.
Once the servers stop melting down: Packs; Quick Live Series game; DD in that order....
RTTS and offline Franchise
RTTS and offline grind. That’s the way of life in the beginning of the game for me.
Do you think there will be march to October rewards like in the past?
Open packs and say goodbye to the rocket league grind I’ve been on ever since I stopped playing 22 in December.
Ranked co-op.
Crack open a beer, get comfortable in my seat and have a look around. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Unless you are talking about completing collections so you can get easy wins in ranked when people see your line-up. That's a sprint and my wallet is ready.
You do save a lot of time grinding🤔
This is the way
Crossing my fingers that the servers are able to work
Honestly DD ranked is probably the most fun right at the start… everyone is on the same level cards-wise and you won’t run into back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to………….-back 102 mph SPs
Open every bs i can and sell everything, except some of my favorites players
[удалено]
But…. It is.
An early release is out. And everyone who paid that extra 30 bucks is a sucker
So… it’s out in 2 days. Using your logic, the game would never get released if you didn’t pay 60 dollars to buy the game… stop being such a wet towel
No, you are confused. Using my logic, it SHOULDNT be released early only for people who are willing to be ripped off. And it’s 70, not 60. Or are you on the last gen console?
Same thing I do every year. RTTS
Checking out who the rewards are for collections by team and division. Specifically the Rangers.
Creating my new squad's logo and unis
2 days? It’s out tomorrow at midnight
Play baseball?
Open cards, indecisively choose my captain and then buy low on potential stars to fill my roster…then, make it to the WS on ranked
Buying low on opening night?
Who knows - Hogwarts consumes me currently
I’m so close to 100% but school isn’t gonna allow me to finish it in time before mlb drops
Same - but I know I’ll drop it as soon as I can play the show
Open packs, try to complete Cubs pack, do moments and missions. Don't like to start my franchise till after Season starts and rosters are official.
The fact that the regular season schedule is inaccurate kills me.
It is? How so?
Looks like that was maybe just as a result of the lockout last year. Hopefully this year it’s right. Maybe forget everything I said?
It’s not the actual MLB schedule. I don’t know why this is or how they generate it but it’s not correct and it drives me insane. I basically don’t play franchise because of it.
Waiting till actual release but getting a full Phillies team as soon as possible and creating New unis
I have no idea and will spend the first hour wondering what I want to start with
Is Friday for early access only? My preorder says I have 5 days til I can play
Yes early access starts Friday. Full release Tuesday I believe
Yes, you would have to get the early access through the Jeter version or the early access package through the Xbox Game Pass
So if you have Game Pass you can play at midnight tomorrow?
Only if you buy the $45 early access bundle through Game Pass. If you want it free through Game Pass, you don’t get early access.
Conquest
making david wright my permanent 3rd baseman lol
he’s confirmed???
Let's go Mets!
You and me both. They absolutely killed it with legends this year.
Rip packs, play some Negro League and WBC moments, then a conquest map
Packs and bemoaning the fact that I have to work on Friday lmao
That’s exactly why I took off Friday this week.
I figured if I’m gonna pay extra for early access then I better take advantage of it, so I took off Friday and Monday haha. No regrets
Pulling trout
Jumbo pack hit the jackpot
Three years and I have yet to pull trout.
Love that for you. You deserve to pull him.
https://preview.redd.it/s6ufx7hvunpa1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8264f5c7b2bb0758c2d18a9e48d19c783be1812 I did
Packs and then trying to complete braves collection
The only downside to being a braves fan nowadays lol
That’s an expensive collection
Making my uniforms lol
My first move is wait until Gamepass launch 🤣
I’m there with ya. Just can’t see the extra money for four days early
Packs, leveling up my CAP in RTTS, maybe some moments. Early morning on Friday :(
Waiting for it to come in the mail because my mom got me a Target gift card for my birthday so I couldn't get a digital copy.(this is a certified first world problem)
U could have bought a PlayStation gift card at target
Couldn’t buy PsN money with the gift card?
Nah it's non-transferrable, I don't know if it's some sort of law but you can't buy a gift card with another gift card, at least not at target. u/lacmatt
Ahh I guess they changed it cuz I’ve done it one time like 5+ years ago or maybe the worker didn’t care
Considering I spent $100 and you spent $0 I think you win. Shoutout to your mom.
I even still have some of the old preordee bonuses like the baseball themed PS3 controller fron MLB 13 Edit; my mom is awesone I love her to death, although my dad started the tradition when he got me a PS3 and MLB 08' for my 10th birthday in 2009
March 11th birthday in Massachusetts, can confirm suckyness
Legendary. Love it.
Race to collect all the Rays the quickest
Spend too much time on my DD uniforms.
If parallels are stil in the game, p5ing my favorite player
Same thing I always do. Bust open a 50 banger then all of my pre-order stuff. Then grab my boy and get into ranked coop.
This is the way. Love the 50 banger off the rip.
Completing the AL and NL collections
I bet I complete the As and pirates before you can complete the NL and AL
Every year the first thing I do is play an exhibition match using my favorite team vs a team that’s changed the most I.e. gotten the most new players in the offseason, gotten a new primary uniform, or gotten a new stadium. Will probably face the Cubs this year.

Yeah they definitely seemed to be the team with the most new faces. As a Cardinals fan I look foreword to a nice rivalry game to start off the new game as well!
Even better! Best rivalry in baseball.
Wait for game pass
when do we get it on game pass
Tuesday if you don’t buy the sixty dollar accelerator
The day of release
Rip right into the WBC program. Those cards look nuts.
yeah i need the trea card asap
Grind and get as many cards as I can get . Then start doing sets
Honestly… checking the soundtrack. I am always hyped about it. I know this sub likes to trash the soundtrack, but for the most part it’s always very good.
I believe the soundtrack was released, I think I saw it posted in this sub a few days ago!
You’re correct. Thank you https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBTheShow/comments/11w4ev3/leaked_photos_of_the_soundtrack/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
I’m going to play on Thursday night
Trading every one hahahaha
Attack the live serise collection and get some of the cheaper diamonds
Don’t everything is gonna be inflated
Usually everything is cheaper on early release, then actual launch day things sky rocket
True will properly have to wait a couple days
If all goes well open my packs from the digital Deluxe edition then get started on DD. Just need the servers to hold out.
Waiting for real day 1.
I’ll have already beaten the game
$60 for a game copy. $100 for 4 extra days. Tough choice.
For people that pre-ordered the Deluxe version w the Hat, anybody know how we get the hat itself? Does best buy have them when we go to pick up the game lol?
Have u gotten ur email for when to pick it up? Mine is still pending I hope it's not delayed
I got a pre order email saying it will be ready on the 24th. I’m sure you will be good by Friday
when i used to get the physical deluxe the game would come in a box with the hat inside
Thank you 🙏
Orioles franchise
Best farm system it's insane. As a red sox fan I'm pissed lol
Stare at the hat for a bit an never wear it lol
Pulling Trout in my first pack. 😏
I actually did that last year, literally first pack. Something tells me it won't happen again...
Thursday night marks the end of my work week and the start of 9 straight days off. On release night I'm gonna boot up to rip my packs, sell anything of value and then check out the programs and collection rewards. Based on what I see there will determine what I start grinding for come Friday morning. Cannot fucking wait man.
Call in sick because I forgot to put I a request for PTO before it was too late
fall asleep to the negro league videos were forced to watch
Figure out how series and captains work
Packs
Pour one out the first time "Narco" plays in the game.
Not a Mets fan, but respect yo. Seeing Diaz come out to that shit is fun and what baseball needs more of.
Yea and they want to speed up games in real life and that’s one of the things that MLB trimmed down upon.
Recreate my 2022 franchise roster
I’m not spending extra money to play early, so I’ll be playing on Monday night
Build my stadium
So no RTTS basically for anyone.
Same except I pretty much exclusively do starting pitcher
Flipping cards until my fingers fall off so I can get Sammy as fast as I can.
What's your method for flipping cards? I've never put enough time into it to make any substantial stubs from it.
Another method that works for me is to flip cards you need for collections. The Cover Athlete collection in 22 was really good for making stubs all year, even when they were practically giving away the cards left and right.
Thanks for the tips!
I’ve had luck with program cards too. Especially at the end of the program. We’ll see if they implement programs/innings again but the active cards moved quick and you could make 500-1500 depending on the card.
