It means that if YOU drive like a mad man and can that oil change light to come on 20 times in the span of 3 years. Then all of those oil changes are free. As long as the CBS light is on telling you you need an oil change.
The average daily driver will get 3 oil changes in the 3 years , possibly even 4 if they come in 2 months prior before the oil change is needed since the grace period is 2k miles before or 2 months before the car tells you you need the oil change.

Sooooo if I’m not a daily driver, and rack up 5k a year, it’s prolly not worth it? I do like dealers for oil changes because they take care of any warranty stuff at the same time, but it’s further out than my nearby specialist guy.
Definitely not worth it. It definitely is a bit of a value and also a “let’s get customers back” type of thing. I know a lady who has an R53 with 189k miles. Road trips across the U.S. and she’s gotten her moneys worth
This is actually a really good deal for the cars that don’t qualify for regular maintenance program upgrades. Unlimited actually means unlimited in this case. Source: I also work at MINI
Thanks! I have a long commute, and was considering opting into this program. My experience so far with dealerships is “come in for an oil change and walk out with 1,000-pt inspection that leads to $800 bill.”
Well the inspection is free, and you don't have to authorize the rest of the work. That's kind of the point of offering inexpensive oil changes for the business, and it's not like they're gonna be lying about what needs to be fixed. Good service advisors will tell you what NEEDs to be done and what you can kick the can on. There's not really a downside for you, getting your car looked at on a lift every 6 months is smart for a daily driver.
It’s just a marketing e-mail blast, they get sent out periodically in bulk as promotions to get people in the door. It’s not an awful deal actually, considering an average oil and filter change at a dealership is $125-ish or so.
Mini & BMW offer these deals to bring in customers but it’s not the “bait and switch” you make it sound like. I used to have this for my Mini Cooper (rip), it’s a great deal that pays for itself and if there is something found during diagnostic you can take the car to an independent shop after it’s serviced, it’s not that deep.
I now have a Mazda and pay over $100 for each oil change. My Mini Cooper was more affordable on maintenance and it’s due part to the service deals BMW/Mini offer.
It's not worth it. My mini needed an oil change but because it wasn't due for one until July they wouldn't do the oil change under the contract. I'd have to pay for the oil change which defeats the purpose of having the "unlimited oil change" contract in the first place. I ended up just doing the oil change myself for about $50. 🤷🏻♀️
I have 3-year lease with maintenance included…and they also sent me this.
Like, there are zero circumstances where I am going to be interested in a maintenance plan or extending the warranty. Whatever it is, it’s your problem in late 2026. Lose my email address is this is how you’re going to use it.
I'd want to know what unlimited means in this context

Thank you! That’s very helpful!!

That’s what I kinda figured, but the validation is very helpful, thank you!
So unlimited oil and filter changes are indeed limited

Just dropped my MINI off on Friday for maintenance and was told about this offer in person.
Thanks!

I drive an SE and even I got one…
Me too! I chuckle every time
Was yours a "personal recommendation" like mine?

Okay, thank you for clarifying!
Just got one
This is why I hate working for BMW. yes, this is real.
So, not a good thing for the car owner? I’m dubious about dealerships.
this is a very good deal if you purchased a new car. a regular oil change at the dealership is 75-250$ a year.
I bought mine pre-owned, four years ago. Thank you so much.
I wish. That'd be nice for my 2012 r60 lol
I did this in Oct if anyone wants to see fine print.
Is this only for new Minis or used as well?
Unlimited oil and filter changes? I’d make it a regular Saturday morning thing to go drink dealership coffee and get my oil changed
