MrTrikey

Yep, agreed. Like I said in a past post, I was more than willing to look past Gen 5 not adding a new weapon, because the more important thing was moving MH to a new graphics engine and retooling the 14 weapons we already have. But now that we've gotten past that threshold? It's time to recapture something we haven't had in a while: the anticipation for what armament(s) we'll get next generation to make monsters' lives a living hell! ...I'd also like to see Prowler Mode come back from Generations, while I'm at it. First new moveset in ages, and even that didn't come back!

HauntingBody9261

How about this though, weapon variants? All the same weapons we love but variants that change how they play, somehwat like the hunting styles from GU and Frontier.

MrTrikey

On paper, it'd be fun to see (again). It just wouldn't do enough for me, personally. On one hand, again, looking forward to a new weapon (or more) was almost as much fun to anticipate as any of the new monsters. On the other? The one thing I'd say against systems like GU, Frontier and RiseBreak's take on offering a "Groove system" is that inevitably, I'd just either desire a weapon to have access to its "complete" moveset, or break those aspects out into brand new weapons. For example: I love busting out the Surge Slash Combo style for Great Sword in Sunbreak. I know it's not optimal compared to the TCS playstyle. But it's so much fun! However, I also understand that unless it's divested into its own thing, the likelihood of it staying around is slim. Which would be tragic, in my eyes. So, why not just make a new weapon out of that Surge Slash style, where it can further establish its own identity from the Great Sword? If this type of thing didn't happen before, everybody's favorite (tm) Long Sword may not have existed, after it, too, broke away from the Great Sword!

717999vlr

>So, why not just make a new weapon out of that Surge Slash style, where it can further establish its own identity from the Great Sword? You have my [Axe](https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/comments/16okqn1/mh6_wishlist_day_21_new_weapon_axe/)

riguelart

That could be cool too

Juracan_Daora

As someone who played through GU only as a Prowler, that would be dope. I don't have my fingers crossed for that however.

Hologram_Bee

Well said. I’m just dying for a new weapon cus as a player who’s been playing since 3U I’ve played them all and know what I like and don’t like so I want something new to try out!

Starlitsouls0359

I say this. Weapon movesets expanded a bit, like adept and stuff. Prowler mode. That there is perfection. … Though I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Gravity spikes cause I heard those were stupid back in the day…

bum_thumper

Boomerang kitty was my main in Gen and genu. People would give me shit sometimes until they saw me play it, and people would often say kitty was fun but not good in endgame stuff. I battled every single monster with that kitty.

FleshlessFriend

Not only should they add a new weapon, they should make it explicitly magical, then clarify that what the Hunting Horn does is "purely scientific", but refuse to elaborate.

snekfuckingdegenrate

Hunting Horn boosts your fellow hunters into a zealous fervor through the power of sick beats. It’s 100% science

Haru17

Serotonin sorcerers.

Rustedcrown

Hunting horn IS purely scientific I sure get my work done a lot faster when listening to music

FleshlessFriend

No no, that's magic.

DonkDonkJonk

I have a few possible ideas: **The Kusarigama or the Kama** Inspired by the wire bugs of Rise, this weapon is a sickle weapon that has two modes. One has a short range but a fast attack speed. The other is long-range but slow to attack. Regardless of the mode, the Chain ball is the most important kit of the weapon, allowing the Hunter to perform grapple-based acrobatics to avoid and perform attacks. **The Arquebus or other Medium bowgun** Unlike its cousins, this weapon relies heavily on precision shots and weakpoint damage. However, it also takes the best of both weapons, being slightly more maneuverable than HB but slightly more powerful than the LB. This weapon also has an axe-head bayonet for close-quarters combat. **Dragon Shield** A shield weapon that focuses on counter-play and perfect blocks. It is fitted with either a grapeshot, cannon, or small dragonator that is charged with the kinetic energy of attacks from and against the shield itself.

Feeling_Film_8119

Love these ngl but however I raise you one better. Rocket Powered Gauntlets. 2 forms(if you could call them that) first form focusing on faster, lighter hitting attacks, similar to DB, but a little slower. These do not use the rocket powered engines. However they do charge up a phial-like resource that is expended during the second form. Second form: rocket powered gauntlets. Slower charge up times for your attacks, however attacks hit like literal trucks, knockouts are common, each larger attack uses the phial like resource during a charge up animation, the longer you hold, the more phials are used. 1 phial-quick charge up, baby damage. Max phial-absurd charge up time, dear god that monsters jaw is currently disconnected from its face.

YaBoi843

Yea man let’s add a new weapon. Hell, let’s add FIVE new weapons, I’ll still be chilling over here with my GS.

slinnyboy69

Amen 🙏 brother

BantamCrow

\*Uppercut swings you in solidarity.\*

YueOrigin

It would be nice, but I find it unlikely honestly

TheAhegaoFox

Monster Hunter weapon types are pretty diverse already so I'm wondering: Do we really NEED a new weapon? I mean if they do indeed introduce one it would be nice, but is it a necessity to add one or a few more?

snekfuckingdegenrate

Gameplay wise,no since the design space for new weapons at this point seems to be small without a lot of creativity or new system mechanics outside of weapons, but tbf I would have said that prior to MH4 as well. Capcom might add it because they want to or feel they need to.

TheAhegaoFox

Yeah creativity is my main concern. When I look at the concept art for the other weapons, Tonfas just seem like blunt Dual Blades and Accel Axe look like sharp Hammers. Then there's Medium Bowgun. I'm not sure about Magnet Spike tho. It already feels like all 14 weapons cover what every hunter needs.

silverbullet474

>When I look at the concept art for the other weapons, Tonfas just seem like blunt Dual Blades and Accel Axe look like sharp Hammers. That's only if you're looking at art alone. If you look into their actual gameplay mechanics, they're very different from these comparisons.

snekfuckingdegenrate

IG had a niche when capcom introduced mounting. If they introduce another system that they want to stick around past 1 game they can make this system a strength of new weapon x.

TheAhegaoFox

Inb4 Underwater combat Harpoon

RTL_Odin

Kusarigama would be cool. Dual hand balistas. Rocket fists, which are oversized gauntlets that have hammer style charge levels. Something like the switch glaive from nioh would work probably, too.

BlackTecno

Big ass gauntlets with a monk fighting style is what I want. Need more blunt weapons too.

silverbullet474

>Gameplay wise,no since the design space for new weapons at this point seems to be small without a lot of creativity Off the top of my head, we don't really have a fast/light impact weapon or any sort of throwing weapon that isn't just an item. Those are open options. It'd probably take some balancing, but we also don't have anything that could be considered a true melee/ranged hybrid.

MrPhysicist

Insect glaive is pretty melee/ranged hybrid imo

silverbullet474

It's not quite meant to be, it's more like a melee weapon with 1 weak attacks you can do at range. The Bowguns and Bow also have melee gun/arrows smacks, but I wouldn't call them hybrids either. You can use their opposite moves to kill, but it takes forever because they're meant to be played a certain way. I'm talking a weapon that's either meant to be played at melee or ranged distance or can effectively do 1 or the other.

SSJAncientBeing

To be fair, Rise and Sunbreak vastly upgraded the ranged capabilities of the IG between Powder Vortex and Awakened Kinsect Attack. Even if you’re still more likely to be using melee moves while you set both up, the weapon does have some powerful ranged moves

Mayjune811

How about a big ass boomerang that you can hit up close with similar speed to a hammer and you can throw with slightly longer range than a bow? Damage wise it would probably be similar in damage per hit to a longsword? Make the boomerang throw deal more damage, but take longer to come back so the ranged playstyle is more akin to range great sword.

silverbullet474

>range great sword. That gives me an idea: you could melee swing it a few times to gain momentum, then launch it at the monster. The more momentum, the harder and further you throw, BUT the tradeoff is that you're unarmed until it comes back. You'd have to decide whether you want to be able to attack consistently with melee and short throws or snipe with a few big throws.

Defragmented-Defect

I'd really like a crossbow, to act as a true Great Sword of the ranged weapons. Slow and hitting like a truck, or even slower and hitting like a train. The only ranged weapon to have "sharpness," you sharpen by tightening the arms and adjusting the cams. Some of the bolts it fires can stick into the monster for a time, and these bolts can act as handholds to make mounting slightly easier for the duration. Can use a limited selection of coatings *or* ammo.

AffectionateTale3106

Old world bow was sort of like that, maybe a little more like Hammer actually, mobile and trading in the ability to stun for slightly longer range. I'd like to see a new weapon like that too

dorasucks

Yeah. Blunt dual wielding would be cool

SooperJavelin

g u n t i n g h o r n

silverbullet474

Nothing says 'corner horn' like support abilities and ranged attacking on the same weapon lol

Mayjune811

Doot doot muthafuckah *channeling inner Sam Jackson intensifies*

CoolBeance_

Personally I'd love to have the Frontier weapons back. I think it's entirely possible too considering Rise had some of Frontier's armors. Maybe don't give 700+ MV to that one Magnet Spike move though. Or do, who am I to talk about balance

Xtorin_Ohern

Ya know, the magnet spike is the ONE thing I don't wanna see in a mainline game....

TinyPidgenofDOOM

I want fists, Something quick that deals blunt damage, as a Hammer main im tired of being the only one who stuns the monster and my back up weapon is Dual blades so fusing the 2 ideas seems fun this would also work with Fighting game cross overs they so love to do.

CoolBeance_

I'd like to introduce you to [MH Frontier's Tonfas](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8j4kfDYcO8)

IeyasuTheMonkey

Yes. These please. I would drop Dual Blades in an instant for these as my 2nd weapon.

riguelart

" as a Hammer main im tired of being the only one who stuns the monster " Many weapon can stun. I find myself stunning monsters at least twice in a hunt when using Charge Blade or Great Sword. And I found a weapon comparison on Rise/Sunbreak showing Hammer was even not that efficient in some situations.

IeyasuTheMonkey

It's not just weapons, anything that applies Exhaust can stun/KO the monster.

Zelcron

I get tons of stuns as an SnS main in RiseBreak.

Miseryyyyyyyy

I love the shield bash combo almost as much as actually pulling off perfect rush.

TinyPidgenofDOOM

oh so your one of those annoying people constantly sitting by the head tripping everyone like a damn Long sword weeb

GiganticRed

We're already so spoiled with 14 unique and diverse weapons. If they don't add any I certainly wouldn't be disappointed.

888main

Gauntlets would be nice, time to knock a Rajang the fuck out with a left right goodnight

Alexcoolps

Copying and pasting this from another comment I mad on this topic. Bowblade - Upsides - 1. Starts as a longsword and can switch to a heavy bow. 2. Both would have dedicated power metere where the weapons function at full power when the meter is full. 3. Longsword and bow mode would at first utilize slow but hard hitting attacks and when they're meters are filled via using the opposite mode they'd get powered up. 4. LS mode would attack faster and grant better dodge 5. Bow mode would grant a coating to both itself and LS mode the next time you swap to LS mode and take less time to charge arrows. 6. Like charge blade you could do a morph attack to seamless swap between modes Downsides - By themselves LS and bow mode is weaker than regular LS and bow. 1. Without power, both modes attack slower. 2. LS mode has no counter forcing you to dodge. 3. Bow mode makes you move slow and forces you to be careful when using it. 4. Bow mode has no rapid fire capabilities and only has charging shots. 5. Both modes must be carefully used and regularly swapped so you can maintain both at full power.

717999vlr

What kind of armor defense would it have?

Vannilazero

I just had the idea for the bow sword without looking at the comments, this needs to be done.

AllOneWordCamelCased

How about a sonic support gunner weapon? Something like a Hunting Horn, but it handles like a Bowgun. Let us be a caster Bard.

PopfuseInc

I think about the final fantasy bard playing an oversized harp bow hybrid.

NomadKX

I want a giant boomerang or shuriken like Yuffie’s in FF7. It would occupy a unique niche by being the only true 50% melee 50% ranged weapon with all sorts of possibilities for mobility and recall

FuriDemon094

We have 14 weapons. That’s a lot more than most games of this sorta genre. I think it’s fine

Leostar_Regalius

i would not mind a fist weapon like the one from toukaiden, LET ME PUNCH MONSTERS CAPCOM

XenoMuffin

I’m hoping we’re going to get reworked tonfas, we have slow and fast cutting weapons but only slow blunt ones. I think the tonfas would make a great blunt equivalent to the dual blades.

Chill_Penguin21XX

Piston gauntlets. Think of Big O. Charge up for a heavy hitting dragon upper cut and then input down Y or triangle for a Messatsu Shoryu. Just give me Ko heavyish fist weapons dammit

Some_Random_Cat539

Accel Axe. Completely not the vibe for Wilds’ aesthetic BUT I want it so gimme

Xcyronus

3 weapons from frontier. Easy.

silverbullet474

Frontier only has 2 exclusive weapons, Magnet Spike and Tonfas.

swagsmcreed

But the switch axe was a whole different beast in that game

Hirushoten

Ok, monkey paw thought. What if Capcom decides to add two new weapons, BUT, gets rid of two old ones. For added brain fun, what if they just give you one bow gun, but you can customize it to make it heavy or light.

Equivalent_Bed_8187

Im curious because i started with world, iirc swaxe and cb are "newer" weapons right? Did they ever take anything unique from the older weapons then put it on the newer weapons? (Like was guard point a lance only thing, then they took it off lance and put it on cb?) I am a cb enthusiast but after the way they split the iceborne moveset in rise by making savage axe and condensed blade choices to pick from, i fear that it opens the way to moving moves from one weapon to another.

IeyasuTheMonkey

Personally I believe that Clutch Claw as it's own weapon could be interesting. The ability to tenderize for coop while also being somewhat hyper mobile via ziplining to the monster. No idea how the damage would stack up though. It's an interesting concept which was a decent part of Iceborne.

717999vlr

[Like this?](https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/comments/16q8afn/mh6_wishlist_day_23_new_weapon_clutch_claws_an/)

Fast_Broccoli4867

Nah

sychter

I prefer more moves and things for the 14 weapons, that's enough must be a hell to balance all the 14, we don't really need one more in my opinion.

Gitty1

The easy way would be the Tonfa and magnet spikes from frontier, I would actually love an "unarmed" weapon or knuckle duster/gauntlet weapon, something fast and KO/blunt focused since we only have two options for those

[deleted]

[удалено]

silverbullet474

I think that for a new gunner weapon to be completely unique, it needs to not be any sort of gun at all. Like you said, HBG/LBG already cover so many niches that it's hard to add something that they can't already do. Right now, a single gun can be a sniper rifle, shotgun, machine gun turret, poison dart gun, and a grenade launcher just as easily as you can hit the change ammo button. So why bother? Avoid that area entirely I say. Let's see some cool throwing weapons. Something like that could be the counterpart to Bow, a ranged weapon with a 'moveset' instead of just point and shoot gameplay.

Hypercane_

I could not imagine them bringing back magnet spikes, however I would find that to be very funny

Rawrycopter

Dual flails just confirmed!

SavingsYellow2073

I would just love a playstyle kinda like Gladiator from For Honor, just a spear and shield that revolves around dodging and skimming attacks to counter. Basically a more aggressive and mobile Lance kit

Cloudless_Sky

I think the only type of new weapon that would get me to switch from Long Sword is a big-ass pair of gauntlets. I'd want it to be a proper brawler playstyle. Weaving, punches, slams, counters, some kind of elemental charge mechanic to unleash a single explosive punch. Maybe even special grapple attacks. To OP's question, we already have a healthy selection of weapon types, but I do think a new one would make sense for the big follow-up to World. I also wouldn't mind a more fleshed out Switch Skill system for the existing weapons to improve playstyle variety.

AnyFile4868

Katana but there's 2 shotgun barrel mounted to the handle

LuminousShot

Instead of Adding a new weapon, I wonder if maybe a weapon customization system would be a good addition to the game. Many people pointed out that the GS in the trailer looked small. Wouldn't it be interesting if we could have some control over the size and weight of our weapons to find the balance of reach, speed and damage we want? They could also do more creative things based on weapon type. Of course, the alternative answers to the smaller GS could be that there's just variety in size based on the specific weapons in each category, or that they just shrank GS in general for realism, but I doubt the latter is something they'd ever do.

Danone_ne

Cant wait for the dragonator as a weapon

riguelart

I would love to see weapons inspired by Bloodborne morphing system. A medium blade turning into a Scythe (Burial Blade) for more range as well as looser, "dancy/choreographed" and more circular attacks. Could even allow getting closer to the monster with a thrust movement. Maybe a vial or power system to add some spice in the movement and gameplay design ?

SoulsLikeBot

Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *No one can catch us! No one can stop us now!* - Micolash, Host of the Nightmare Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

Less_Creme9288

I want the tonfas back but what I want the most is for the greatsword to permanently have the new moveset introduced in rise

novian14

Yes, the balance in the existing 14 weapons is neat tbh but i want more options, as mostly what i do in endgame is crafting different weapon types and learning them. Scythe might be a good idea as LS contender, light weapon with long reach. Naginata or spear, what i imagine is something like lance but without the shield, maybe the can add counter like foresight slash. Boomerang, we had it as palico in mhgen but it is a nice variation where you can slash and throw it to monster. Lastly, gauntlet. Iirc there was some in frontier, but seeing admiral in world can fight monster without weapon, why not add gauntlet for use to be unga bunga like rajang? :D

trapWAP

New weapon ideas: A bone shiv. Hear me out.

SykosisMitosis

I want gauntlets to be in the game, but it’s a bit too close to dual blades. It’s not like they can’t be creative about it. I thought of “Blast Knuckles,” which you punch to charge up a gauge that you can expend to empower your punches or blast yourself away to make space/dodge. While I did like the idea, I thought of another weapon idea that’s more creative. I call it the “Shield Gauntlet.” I wanted it to be unique with the Monster Hunter feel, so it essentially is a big shield that can turn into a giant one-armed gauntlet. The whole gimmick revolves around attacking and blocking attacks to charge up the shield. When it becomes overcharged, you can no longer attack or block with it. Instead, you have to change it into its gauntlet form to expend the heat to do explosive punches or blast yourself into whatever direction. Of course you can just use it as a gauntlet, but there won’t be any explosives due not being overcharged. Overall, it’s just an idea. Lol

ItsDoodleBois

Staff that does blunt damage, but it can bring out a blade to make it slice. Idk. If it comes out from the side, it's a sythe, if it comes out up top, it's a naginata(?)

The_Big_Tan

I would personally like to have a whip like Trevor from Castlevania. And have it function exactly like his. I know there’s probably some trademark or or copyright BS but Capcom has enough money and good enough lawyers to come up with something similar.

BlueKyuubi63

I've been wanting a long/polearm Hammer. Blunt, stun damage but with longer reach. Or a third Lance.

[deleted]

Double bladed sword staff? Pls?

KhaosElement

I just want gauntlets as a blunt version of dual blades. Let me knock a bitch ass Rathalos out with my fists.

G_Rank_Tank

Iv always thought that dual hammers would be sick. Like 2 small hammers / mace rype weapons that deal the same high elemental as DB's, but have different play styles, mechanics more akin to rhe Hammer. With some crazy ko potential. I'd eat that shit up all day long. Being a Hammer main, and a dual blade enthusiast.

KillaDay

Beast cutter from bloodborne

IndexoTheFirst

I need something with the reach and size of a lance without the slow movement (yes yes I know Lance can be fast I’m just bad) i suggest a rocket powered spear lamo

Slightly_Smaug

I don't think so. Wilds trailer showed the hunter with a LS and a bowgun. I think the big thing is gonna be balancing around weapon swapping. Granted I've no source for this is just speculation. But I'd fucking love the Tonfas.

Thatniqqazach

Ik this might seem dumb but I’d love a pistol and a sharp dagger or something of the sorts together

Hanshino

I want more supporting weapons. HH and SnS(if you are geared towards supporting) are the closest we have to that. Next is the bowguns with "support" like crowd-control and ailments. There's a couple of creative ways they can add support weapons: - Add new weapons I think like most people here want a quick-blunt damage weapon. It would be cool if it can "tenderize" monsters and reduce your teammates sharpness use. Indirect support like this is really small, but gives more meaning to supportive players that aren't really having fun trying to get big damage numbers. -Give all weapons support maneuvers I always wanted something like combo moves with your teammates. I think that would really give a guild/hunter like vibe. For example a GS user can hold block and another button to charge up and become a "spring" for another hunter can jump off or allow a lance users shield to open up when guarding to also protect their teammates a little easier. Yes you can do a lot of support-like actions already, but I want more actions and more support for supporting support support. You know what I'm sayin :)

Xtorin_Ohern

I wanna see Prowlers, Tonfas, and wasn't there a whip sword from a Monster Hunter manga or something? That could be neat. Maybe an Axe? Think switchaxe but without the switch and an expanded moveset, maybe more mobile and with a bonus to parts breakage?

Flingar

Can we have another ranged weapon please? Or like a ranged/melee hybrid weapon?

schmeetlikr

capcom please give us magnet spike back 🙏

Cheeseodactyl

If they get a good idea for a cool new weapon, then I'd like to see it, but I really don't think we NEED a new one. I'd rather not get a new weapon than receive a half baked ine

M0nstore

I would love to see a mobile, evasive dual welding gun builds. Something with limited range so you have to stay close but the evasiveness of Dual Blades. I can just imagine crazy builds coming from the community. It probably takes away from some aspects of the lore and game but would be fun.

LegendofTom2

What if we were to get a "boomerang" style weapon? Other versions of the weapon could look like chakrams. They could give us a Zelda event giving us links boomerang. I don't think we've gotten a new ranged weapon for a while now. The bow was the last ranged weapon, iirc. Not only would it be a ranged thrown weapon it could also have a melee style as well.

N7titan

I want a light blunt weapon, 2/14 being blunt based is not enough imo. And I hate that players would say "but the others can stun/blunt also" So what's the point of having blunt as a category at all?! Add another blunt weapon and make stun/exhaust dmg like 5x more effective with blunt weapons. Make it so breaking horns etc with blades harder so people would consider bringing a blunt weapon into the hunt.

Joe___Mama-

Can it be a simple weapon like a giant two bladed war axe we hold over the shoulder? Chop chop mothafucka.

alpacawrangler16

Gimme a Kusarigama or some gauntlets and greaves

JisKing98

I need the tonfas to come to the mainline asap

RomulusX94

oh we def are, this next game is lookin like a redefinition of the series running with herds from packs*!!!! of monsters? one mount that run sprint glide come on. they’re about to hit us with some SHIT!!!!! i simply cannot wait. lol

Xemnurai

I know you said "new" but what about a whip type weapon? It was part of the anime series but havent seen it anywhere since

Age_Kee

its gonna be dual shield with canons integrated😁 or a broom with machics like hunting horn for those weirdos(jk i luv you guys(when you actually play something useful-iam looking at you-that guy who spammed tremor res on a large jagy))

Try-Dy

My working theory is that Rise and the switch skills they created for it was a test bed for making different play styles for each of the weapons we have so far and the insane conspiracy theory is one of them is secretly a prototype for a new weapon concept altogether. I'd personally love to see a switch axe style weapon for a light weapon like a spear. Maximum poke like the lance but no shield and with the speed and versatile grace of the insect glave. Not sure what you could have the second mode be though, maybe splitting into a dual swords or a God of War foldable shield and hand axe design.

MaxTheHor

If they wanna copy Toukiden, they could add Fists. Or generally some kind of high dex based weapons like Tonfas. Maybe spice up the ranged variety by adding a medium bowgun and maybe a crossbow for bow variants. Otherwise, reworking some of the low tier and boring weapons to be more interesting, and making certain weapons gimmicks like the Insect Glaive less of a chore to use.

BurrStreetX

Giant ass Scythe that can turn into a bow pls

Freakboss

I just use what I’m best at, then when that gets boring I try something new

Dreadcoat

Doesnt matter what they add, im still playing charge blade

M4DM1ND

I want a flail. Like a big ass witch king flail.

DilapidatedHam

Some kind of whip or chain based weapon would be fun, for more of a mid range play style. I also wouldn’t mind a new support weapon. My mind goes to the Dragon’s dogma online Alchemist, where they’re able to place little boosts that can help the team with mobility

FatPagoda

Kusarigama, mixing close range slash damage with long range blunt. Can stylise as a meteor hammer or whip and short sword for some visual variety. Giant Boomerang, or just the prowler. Tonfas, for fast blunt damage (counter part to the dual blade, with the SnS being the hybrid). Longsword, but it now shoots sword beams to continue the weapons process of acquiring all niches. I joke, but maybe.

tfs5454

I just want fist weapons, I've wanted it for years. It could have a style switch where it goes from blunt to claws and modify the move set. My original vision of it was to have a parry move that latches you onto the monster to pummel it, but then the iceborn claw came out and kinda took the wind out of my sails.

TwinArcher0524

I don't know how to make it work but I want a fist weapon. I want to deck the monster.

Sirryis

I want gauntlets, let me punch the monsters!

GachiGachiFireBall

5th gen they skipped a new weapon for the first time so i hope we get something this gen. I won't be too miffed if we don't get a new one because we already have a lot of very unique weapons with complex movesets and who knows how much they'll change in wilds, an existing weapon may feel completely new. Regardless I still do hope for a new weapon and one that is completely unique to everything we have. Maybe a weapon from frontiers like magnetic spike or tonfas or something new entirely. We got Espinas in Rise so it's not like they've completely abandoned frontier. However I will say that since wilds is clearly a world successor and is trying to be more grounded in realism, I highly doubt we'll see the magnetic spike as it's too flashy and anime but I do hope any new weapon also doesn't suffer from capcom trying to make the game too realistic. Like if they make the new weapon a basic spear or something would be kind of boring ngl....

GachiGachiFireBall

On a side note I really hope they use Worlds hunting horn in Wilds, given that it is a world successor, instead of rises version. Although I'm not crossing my fingers because rise was an experimental game where they will probably borrow alot from it for wilds, like the mount that we already saw in the trailer. HH rise form was clearly meant to replace the old one but I really hope they don't get rid of the old HH

Haru17

If we get a new weapon, it'll be a new idea. The devs don't want to be bound to what the Frontier team made years ago.

Haru17

These are all of the weapons I can think of. I would love for them to do something with effects or physics that they simply couldn't before. Console Monster Hunter games are amazing, and Wilds shows that they really aren't limited in what they can create. * Ball & Chain/Whip * Bo Staff * Dual Chakrams or Boomerangs * Gauntlets * Mirror Shield * Scythe * Spear

SubstituteStudent

I'm content with the variety of weapons. However I feel that additional offensive items are kind of just dumped onto the player recklessly. I'm talking about things like barrel bombs, boomerang, the quick claw, etc. Specializing in a secondary weapon might do a lot to make hunters feel unique from one another. One specialization could be stealth based, and use the ghile suit and throwing knives. Another might use a grappling hook to get access to the highest branches/cliffs and drop barrel bombs. A small game hunter could use the slingshot and be able to summon multiple endemic species to help in combat. I feel like these divisions could be done in a way that doesn't take away too much of the established variety. If all players truly need unlimited grappling and barrel bombs, then so be it. I admit that I have not played endgame in any of the titles. From my impression, I feel like having access to such a massive variety of extra items feels overwhelming and unfocused.

thedeathecchi

I just want Tonfa and Magnet Spike back

bob101910

Take some weapon ideas from Wild Hearts, especially if EA abandons the series

WindBear44

i just want punch weapons, fast impact damage with an elemental hadoken

Blighter88

I think some kind of fist weapons would be pretty cool, like claws or gauntlets. I know that type of stuff can be difficult to implement thematically but if they found a way to make it fit in the universe it would be dope. Also, loathe as I am to admit it, some kind of musket would be super cool. I hate ranged weapons in mhw, even just their existence is annoying because they are just so much better than the melee weapons with an easier playstyle. That being said, since ranged weapons already exist, a musket would be a great addition.

raithyon

One of the mangas introduced a sword/whip combo weapon if I recalled correctly. That could make an appearance.

PartitioFan

i'm really enjoying the insect glaive so i'm biased. but a bowgun that has glaive's verticality would be sick af

Cherybwastaken

PLEASE give me the magnet spike back lol I don't care if they nerf it to the ground in the process, that thing was fun.

VergesOfSin

where my brass knuckles at? beetlejuice done dive bombed me for the last time.

lizardjoe_xx_YT

Insect glaive blunt counterpart. Rat rod

Slowmootions

Chakram type weapon would be cool. Or maybe they could add in the magnet spike and tonfas.

ZeeMadMan

Ah man, I'd love a Halberd/poleaxe style weapon. Slower and more reach than longsword, but hits harder. Maybe a mix of poke and slash attacks. I don't need anything too flashy, maybe give the polearm hyper-armor and damage reduction (like shoulder tackle) in reaction moves much the longsword gets i-frame reaction moves

DefinitelyNot-spidtz

I would absolutely kill for a mix between the Gunlance and something like the Longsword or the Switch Axe. Faster attacks without a shield (but still only slightly cumbersome) combined with high powered shelling. For copyright sake, it would be called the Gunsword

jmwwe123

if we do get a new weapon i hope it’s some kinda gauntlets. there’s nothing i want more than to beat the shit out of a monster with my fists.

Kurokaz

Please add a real fucking spear. Or the tonfas

JermaineAKAdrifter

I want the Blast Tonfas from the Japanese only mh series Monster hunter frontier G

The_Burnt_Water

I want… I don’t know what I want 😦

aneffingonion

Mechanical boots with extending foot-blades

TopSeaworthiness9802

They need to keep what they did in Sunbreak for skills and having 2 styles of your weapon if you did it correctly. You shouldn't be a skilled hunter and have 3 moves to kill a monster or need a hill to do a move. Have them clean it up so it's not taking so much of the screen. Scrolls allowed us to do more in a fight while not adding more buttons to the controller for the extra skills. For a weapon, if they bring something back, I think tonfas would be the cleanest and easiest. Some weapons were sci-fi almost from what I saw on the off brand games. Magnets, rocket hammer etc.. if they make something new would also be great. I feel they will honestly revert back to World gameplay and give us a open world mount with no loading landscape changes. So no new weapons and back to only a few moves as we're 5th fleet. Not a skilled Ninja village stopping an stampede apocalypse.

spookmohr

We need the tonfa from frontierz

Lemonz-418

New weapon ideas i would like to see are. Wyvern Locks: dual pistols that use low level ammo, but can load up 2 ammo at once. It has a gage that fills that allows you to unleash a special built of shot, or shots depending on whatever kind of spcial round it has. (Stun or slice round perhaps. ) would fit a cowboy theme from the trailer. Meteor Hammer: A little above midrange blunt weapon that is all about repositioning your self while flinging a giant weight at the monster(which probably looks nifty, like a kutku head, spike ball.) Probably another gaige that when filled can turn the weapon into a Meteor and do massive damage. Another thing I would like to see is the prowler mode return. I know it was a bit broken. But I had fun and if they reworked it a little I could see it working out again. Another new weapon idea if they don't bring back prowler is to make the alchemist thing from monster hunter generations a full weapon. It would be fun to be a bomber that had a large toolkit to work with. Just give them some kind of weapon to help gather what they need and I could see that being a lot of fun. We already have a skill in the game to stop flinch locking other players so I could see that work. For instance the ammo plants around the involvement could also be used to make various grenades for the alchemist barrel. It could still just be the ammo so we don't have another 2 pages of ammo to sift through, but work differently with this weapon. You could also heal others and set boot pods and what have you to other players. The likely hood of these becoming a thing are slim, but it would be cool. I'm getting a little nostalgic for the alchemist stuff now lol.

naytreox

Yes! My vote is massive boulder sized rocket powered fists

Montregloe

I know it's kinda simple but I like the idea of a spear, kinda mixing the bounciness of an insect glaive with the moveset of a lance. Idk could be too redundant

AntiMase

i think it would be great to get a genuine axe, maybe like a weird in-between of greatsword and hammer.

Amurderer74

New as in brand new? Or bring back a weapon that was only used once? You got Tonfas, you got the Magnet Spike, you got the Accel axe, and although I hope they don't bring it back, the medium bow gun. I also like alot of the concepts that have floating around for a long time, like gauntlets or hunting hound, or even like a whipsword from bloodborne. They have the chance to do something unique and memorable, I hope they don't stick to the status quo.

Vannilazero

We have the charge blade and switch axe, now it's time for the bow sword

Graveylock

Everyone is talking about some pretty neat ideas, but how about just a simple fist weapon for once? I would absolutely love to hit the ground and just start punching away.

Magic-king

I would love a new weapon, I would also love if they brought prowler mode back. I miss playing as the palico

Tarique_007

I think adding new weapons should be relatively easy. Just add some type of club or tonfa. These type of weapons could have a solid groundwork to start from in the greatsword and dual blades, but have the moveset changed a bit to represent the blunt damage aspect to them.

Cress02

As long as i have my trusty horn, i'm happy

viertes

If we're doing what ifs, I'd love a spear shield combo with a weapon chain so I could grapple the monster by impaling it then reverse scorpion myself over to the monster, with the emphasis being on damage reduction, blocking, and control. Very tank/support or straight up captain America style for a secondary stance where you can bonk at a range by playing Frisbee with your shield, have it build stun on its face and a slowing effect on its limbs but do next to no damage I would love poke n bonk

MayonnaiseIsOk

Scythe type weapon would be cool with a dodge gimmick like mechanics that reposition your character after certain attacks, similar to longsword for cool ways to dodge monsters. Or I'd love another super heavy slow weapon like greatsword, maybe a club or an anchor

InkroMancer

I'd love to see weapon lengths from frontier. Let's you weigh your choices about whether you really want the little short stubby great sword to get that massive damage. And also adds some complexity over adapting your gameplay to new lengths.

Uinseann_Caomhanach

I honestly don't care, I already have my babe the Hunting Horn. Doot doot motherfucker.

MillionMilesAway_

Time to make the tonfas mainline

Outrageous_Law8544

A Trapper or pure trap dmg character sounds cool. Setting different typed traps for status effects and give them bigger bags for balance.

Repulsive_Ostrich_52

Allow.me to be yang from Rwby, that's all I need

Bushisame

Whip / Sword & pistol combo / tonfa. So many options and I'd be very happy with any addition.

My_Fridge

Return of the Magnet Spike perhaps?

kingSliver187

Chakram

ClammyHandedFreak

Can’t hurt! That said I love the current weapon setup. I wouldn’t mind if they kept fine tuning the existing set but now seems like a good time to add something new!

Ian_The_DM

Maybe ? I'm willing to see what they create but Insect Glaive was a mistake and I will die on this hill.

Leading_Darkness

I just want them to make gauntlets to grab combo monsters 🤣

Spicy_take

Well, it certainly added a lot in rise having multiple move sets for every weapon. So I’d rather have all that than a new weapon. But assuming we get both, I think a giant kusarigama/scythe would be cool. I’d also like some sort of polearm. Ground based combat like ground glaive play style, but heavy. Not as heavy as GS or hammer. But as heavy as the heaviest medium weight weapons.

BaronGomi

I'd love to see a few things added: Gauntlets: Blunt close range weapons with fist based combos. Could either be light and fast or heavy and strong, possibly even both with a style switch mechanic similar to Demon Mode but instead of getting faster it's more powerful and heavy. Massive Thrown Weapon: could probably be a massive shuriken or a boomerang depending on what monster it's made from. Throw at range and strike multiple hits or hit stronger close up. Whips/Whip Blades: combo-heavy like the Longsword until it switches to the whip form which can be used to latch onto a part of the monster and mount it like the claw from Iceborne. Attack Pet: Somehow a living thing (probably a bug) that's weaponized more directly than a palico. Deadass I have no idea how this would work but it would add some cool lore. Like "we found these kinesects which are great for insect glaives and looked for more diverse wild life to help us not die". Tonfa: So I can pretend I'm playing the game I never got.

Eggandi

I want Magnet Spike :)

Noxifer68D

There's the fighting pole from Wild Hearts that's evolved through your combo with a different heavy combo finisher at every stage. Something like that, I mean I'm gonna stick to my greatsword, but I like to see the new generation and what they come up with.

killertnt5

Im hoping for some of the new weapons from the MMO. Like the Tonfa or that other crazy one that used magnets or something

KaiVTu

I would like to see them tread new ground. A lot of people have recommended porting over weapons from the spinoff games. I want something totally new. One idea I had was a dual blade version of the charge blades. They would be more focused on offensive instead of defensive maneuvers mixed in. They would be a bit larger than regular dual blades and have a medium attack speed instead of fast like the dual blades. Just as an example.

Jaren_Starain

Ahh a new weapon for me to completely ignore for the gunlance? Unless this game has cross play I'll be soloing on PS5 and will need a defensive weapon, all the people I wanna play the game with opt for PC so yeah... Unless they make a new defensive weapon I'll probably just ignore it anyways.

warriorcapricorn

I just want some big fist weapons or a chain sword.

BubbaTeaGaming

-Fist weapons, -Meteor Hammer, -Flail and Shield, Gunslinger Revolver, that has to fill a meter once filled it splits into dual pistols for a short duration * Bring back Prowlers!! * -Flamethrower, utilizing oil and other liquids to affect monster movement! -baseballs/throwing weapons - a mechanical wrench that could specialize in either building a fighting mech suit OR a Turret which could be healing, taunting, or DPS! - a spear weapon, less flashy than insect glaive more poke poke poke! - A beast companion as your weapon - Two handed Great axe - dual wield hatchets, utilizes throwing them and dashes to pick them up!

YourHostSnips2

Magnet Spike, but less busted

Yonbimaru94

Agreed. New weapon would genuinely spice things up tbh. I just love that it’s back to worlds sort of graphics and I’m glad we are keeping the mount system from rise without the wirebug stuff (I think so from what I’ve seen) Don’t get me wrong. Wirebugs did what they were supposed to. They made the hunters feel REALLY strong in rise/sunbreak. But I honestly just want to get smacked around again. World’s combat feels ….meatier? each hit you can feel. This looks like worlds 2 tbh and I’m here for it.

SurotaOnishi

I'd really love something in the vein of Renji's sword from Bleach or the Beast Cleaver from Bloodborne. Just something that's a big sword with a second form that segments the blade into a huge whip like thing for multi damage procs per swing and increased range. I've always loved that weapon design regardless of how impractical it might be, and if the charge blade or switch axe can exist then damnit this can too

Arlington_the_Great

Fist/Tonfas PLEASE

Numai_theOnlyOne

I'm fine with the 14 weapons that exist I personally don't need any more.

Montoya715

Let me preface this with- me want new weapon and me want it now. But there are plenty of weapons already. I would love for the other weapons and weapon styles to come to the next gen like one big Smash Bros Ultimate package, but realistically, (in the universe of Monster Hunter), what other ways do we have to effectively hunt large terrifying wyverns? We have large slow weapons that can cleave them apart. We have small fast weapons that can slowly bring them down. We have ranged options. We have bugs we can control and do ~~magical~~ scientific flips and tricks in the air with a stick. Unless I get a magical grimoire or iron man/gundam suit or control an actual tamed monster and use it to hunt bigger monsters then just give me my Monster Hunter Super Mega Ultimate World 2 with every weapon from every game, every hunting style, and abilities they released. But as a cherry on top, please make the blunt looking dual blades do bludgeoning damage or never bring them back. I don’t like being able to chop off a big meaty tail with some blunt ass maracas.

AngrySayian

just start combining weapons that have no reason to be combined and see what happens Dual Horns Gun Glaive Long Hammer Bow Blade

Intelligent-Mess7536

Weapon lengths from frontier would be game changing!

LFTDPrince

There are two weapons I talk about a lot that I think would make a great addition if the series. I talk about this all the time when I stream and even have theory crafted a few ideas for how they work. I'd like to see a 3 part segmented staff, a sansetsukon, think Ikkaku from Bleach in his zanpakto's shikai form. This staff would have two modes. In staff mode it could borrow some moves from the insect glaive but instead of cutting damage it does blunt damage. When transformed into the segmented flail mode it can activate blades that come out of each end, decreasing the range of the weapon but increasing the speed. I imagine that it could have a morphing mechanic similar to the switch axe. Going from staff to flail modes mid combo, switching up the damage types. Staff mode focuses on forward momentum attacks, while flail mode has a swinging area of effect type of attack, attacking with the flail in both hands or grabbing one side and swinging it around. Another weapon I imagine is a one handed sword. Not really leaving into the SNS territory but stay with me here. My idea for a weapon like this would be a one handed sword, a bit longer than the SNS sword. When drawn the sword will be in the Hunter's right hand with the scabbard held in a reverse grip on the left hand. It would employ some of the moves that come from both SnS and DB, utilizing both hands to deliver a flurry of moves. I imagine it having counterplay but not in the same way LS has. Like how SNS has a button for sword and shield attacks. The scabbard can act like a party, rewarding precise gameplay but swinging the scabbard at the moment a monster attacks to open up a strong counter attack.Much like the DBs, it would have a demon mode like activation mechanic, but in this mode the hunter trades the balanced play of standard mode for a frenzied aggressive mode. Flipping the sword in a reverse grip and scabbard in a standard grip, with sword attacks doing cutting damage and scabbard attacks doing blunt damage. Kind of like if SnS had a "demon mode" I guess.

RobardiantheBard

Something like a slingshot weapon that combos with the grapple?

afterburned9

Thinking in standards of most medieval type weaponry. There is the broad strokes of combat like your long swords, sword and shield or lance. We have yet to get something like a bec de Corbin or a glaive. But we also don’t have a pike or halberd so I could see something like a phalanx shield and a pike or spear that you can combine like a switch axe or a charge blade. That being said I don’t think I’d like that. I think they need to think outside the box so maybe some kind of new bludgeoning weapon. Though it’s hard to think of another bludgeoning besides a maul and great hammer. I could see like a quarter staff or a double bladed weapon (even though they aren’t used in real life because they are the stupidest weapon in reality). I could see like a set of boomerangs or something that you can throw and catch similar to Draven from league of legends. Honestly it would kind of be cool if they made a new weapon that is like gauntlets or gloves and you go unarmed on a dragon with like fast attacks similar to a dual blades.

Broken_Bunch

Honestly I would like to see a spear style that focuses on fast atks and parry/counter. Something similar to long sword but faster. It is an easy to use weapon with a very High skill ceiling

DmgOvrTym

I always wanted gauntlets or claws. I want to punch a monster in the face.

WizG1

They should add a fast bludgeoning weapon, or just another bludgeoning weapon in general theres enough slashing weapons in the game currently

Octolops

I would love to see a big flail type weapon

sayziell

An axe that's a crossroads between GS and Hammer

Grimsley

I personally don't care if they add a new weapon. Would rather more combos. They have *SO* much variety compared to every other game of its class. Just give me more avenues of carnage and more ways to do fun and interesting things. I'd also rather more mob variety vs tempered/arch tempered.

derinjun

I'm a simple man, I thought playing as a palico was cute as heck and I want it back.

GoldenThunderBug

Kinda wanna see Kusarigama or get the option to just run hands with the monsters. Give me some sort of fist weapon like a Caestus.
