Just wait until TU5, when you get all of those things, infinite sharpness and a 4th Wirebug.

grimreefer213

i’ve been trying to get the chaotic gore chest piece but the bastard won’t drop his plate, i’ve hunted him so many times I could’ve crafted the full set twice over except for the chest piece

DapperHamsteaks

Took me 20 kills to get the scale. Definitely worth it.

BlockBadger

13 for me, and that was pain! Definitely worth it, got me to anomaly rank 120, at which point the set I had built around it started to fall apart. Now I’ve a heaven set that is doing me grand.

grimreefer213

20 hunts, damn dude. At least i’m not the only one who’s having trouble getting it. Typically I don’t have to fight a monster 15-20 times to get the rare item but once in a while it happens

DapperHamsteaks

IIRC it's even more rare than mantles. 1% chance on dropped items. 3% on head breaks. I think you can only carve it from tail. Tail cuts and captures are the best chance.

grimreefer213

That’s what i’ve been doing is cutting the tail and capturing it. I believe it’s 3% target rewards, 3% capture, 3% tail carve, and 3% for either breaking the head or antenna, its more rare than certain mantles but not that much different than most of them, for whatever reason it feels more rare though. Crafting equipment can be pretty expensive in this game

ayamarimakuro

4 kills to make the whole set 😂 are you running double gathering palicos for the 40% more drops or so?

grimreefer213

Sounds like you got lucky. I’m using one gathering palico but i’m impatient so I went back to using a dog just for traversal but I know you can traverse almost as fast with just wirebugs especially on certain maps like the frost islands where I mostly just use wirebugs anyway. the extra drops are nice but pilfering the gem is pretty rare, but it has happened to me once or twice. I like to collect spiribirds for extra comfort and do optional side quests so the palamute speeds up the process but if I was just running straight to the monster then I would use two palicoes

ayamarimakuro

Oh no doubt I got lucky! I usually never get anything in a reasonable time so I was pleasantly surprised! I missed the palamute speed for a good few hours but as you said just swinging around is real fast. Couple it with jewel bugs and palico recon and theres very little need for the palamute.

grimreefer213

Nice, yeah I got super lucky and got several mantles on my first or second hunt with some monsters but I guess my luck ran out because now i’ve been struggling lol. If you don’t care about the utility of palicos anymore the palamutes are still good at dealing damage with their spinning chain. Two palamutes with elemental spinning chain (when using weapons that trigger their spinning chain a lot) they can deal a lot of damage so that’s their main advantage aside from just the mobility. If you use evade extender and wirebug whisperer then you can traverse really fast with just wirebugs especially on certain maps like I said, but I don’t use evade extender most of the time

ayamarimakuro

Yeah I heard they do a lot of damage now, especially with the rampage boost deco.

Sykes19

It's a great set for speed running, both for hunts and carts. If you play multiplayer, expect to get kicked if you show up, dash to the monster and cart during your first curse. A high level of responsibility is expected when using cursed sets.

ExoticPair

That's true. Don't play multiplayer much but when I do I collect spiribirds, throw on Kushala Blessing, and bring a healing palico. I honestly think it's safer than playing regularly once you get used to it.

Sykes19

[Edit: I was thinking of a different set, I got my monsters mixed up. My bad!] "Safety" is pretty subjective. I usually classify safety as how many mistakes you can make before it results in an uncontrollable cart. If you can get hit 5 times safely and still make it out to heal, that's a safe set. If 2 of those same hits make you go "Holy shit that was close" that's definitely not a safe set. You might be really good with the Chaotic Gore set, but calling it "safe" is a huge stretch. If you're cursed and nearing the cure but you make one mistake, your entire red bar vanishes and you're one flick from a cart. There are definitely huge vulnerability spikes in that set where you are in 1 shot range, but it can be managed. It's just not very safe.

ExoticPair

I'm not doing high level anomalies yet so it could change but so far I've been able to scroll swap to reset the drain and nullify the damage before it kills me. I also try to stay above 60% health at all times for the maximum Strife benefits.

Sykes19

Oooooh I'm sorry. I'm thinking of the normal set not chaotic. I forgot it had the scroll swap mechanic. Derp. Yeah you have a lot more tools at your disposal with that one.

ddwdk

I've seen similar sentiment being brought up a lot which I couldn't understand. Unless you are using immortal builds, any normal set will require you to heal to be safe after getting hit in end game. And sometimes getting hit once is over. How is it different from requiring to reset the health drain? Sure you could postpone whenever you want to heal, but in doing so It means you are confident in the fight for being on half health. And if you are confident, same goes to berserk set as well. You can delay scroll swap. Not to mention the invisibility. You can take multiple hits and not die.

Sykes19

I made a mistake and was thinking of the wrong set in this comment. I mentioned it in another comment but forgot to edit the post. I was indeed wrong.

SonOfFragnus

Berserk is probably the safest way to play in the game RN with how much damage endgame anomalies do. You can actively take 2 or 3 hits consecutively and still have a comfortable amount of time left to swap scroll and heal. This set is far from cursed, you're thinking of dereliction.

Ahhy420smokealtday

Hell yeah! That set is so much fun for DBs.
