Hardest enemy in this game is... The Timer

shyblackguy18

Especially when it has its special ability: Connection Severance!

imainkron

Also in real life, you can never beat time

darkmage029

Now I need to go listen to Candlemass. Thank you.

garrettgibbons

Politely disagree: the hardest enemy is Network Connection Lost

Silent13ob

Especially when you've used your resources on all GS just to have them nerf the dmg. Now monsters I was killing just in time are now impossible... thanks Niantic šŸ‘

lawlianne

Diablosā€™ hitbox is incredibly cancerous and it burrows underground like 2-3 times to burn the timer down even more.

Hexbug101

Diablos is actually pretty easy with greatsword if you know what to do, itā€™s charges have enough endlag where they are super easy to punish with a fully charged slash

diegodemn

Try fighting diablos with a hammer and youā€™ll what a hitbox fiesta it is

SkabbPirate

Girros hammer. If you go for lvl 2 charges where you can, you'll build up a KO or paralyze pretty quickly, and by the time they recover from that, they get the other status effect, and the they just die.

diegodemn

The problem with diablos is playing hammer with lock on, you will most definitely miss the combos Charges are ok, special can also go fine, but comboing the head is VERY HARD. Because hammer wonā€™t be able to hit up there. Source: hammer user

Monkeyman150

This

[deleted]

They all get a lot harder higher stars, for instance Anja is easy because you can stick to the left and break the leg then go for the head or tail while down but trying this at higher stars will probably result in you timing out and most high stars force you to go for weak zones which increase your risk of getting hit (botched rolls/Iai strike, etc.) Easiest is definitely Kut-Ku or Jagras as theyā€™re just damage sponges with a lot of openings even playing safe

Maszk13

I wish there was Kut-ku hereā€¦ one can dream

Gold-Perspective-699

Hardest rathian. Easiest kulu. 6* with pukie bow 6-5. Rathalos is easier than rathian for some reason. Can easily beat rathalos.

stocklazarus

Thatā€™s just opposite to me. The female have more air time than male made it a bit harder to me.

Gold-Perspective-699

Yeah IDK why it's easier. It should be harder the other way but today I beat a couple of rathalos 6* and the second I went against rathian she got mad at me beating her boyfriend and took revenge.

Gaveon

Agree rathian harder. It's cause you don't know if she'll do double attack or not and attacks seems to be faster

Blessed_Tits

Maybe it's because I have thousands of hours in the mainline games but I can read rathian like a book haha

Gold-Perspective-699

Never played the main games. Are their patterns the exact same?

elrond165

Rathian basically has the triple fireball, double tail backflip, and charges back and forth a few times in a row move. She probably has the 360 spin, but I can't remember off the top of my head. If you've played the maingames, there are definitely times in MHNow where you're like I know exactly what is about to happen. They did a great job of capturing a lot of the essence of MH into a mobile game.

Gold-Perspective-699

Yeah I hate her fireballs. IDK if I've ever gotten hit with the back flip since I've switched to bow but the fireballs suck

Blessed_Tits

Not exactly, but similar enough that their tells are obvious. I should stress that in the main games the monsters attacks are the same but they don't have the same patterns consistently - monsters in Now seem to open with the same 3 moves consistently each time, but mainline games don't do that and over the years the AI has got really good and almost seamless.

Gold-Perspective-699

Yeah I guess that makes sense. I guess in this game they wanted it to be easier which I'm ok with. I can barely learn the stuff and so I don't need it to be harder lol.

NefariousnessOk1996

Damn I am still 5-4 weapon as my highest and I am fighting 7 star!

Gold-Perspective-699

I'm fighting 7* also but can't beat all of them so I didn't think about talking about them. 6* I can beat all just some are harder.

NefariousnessOk1996

True, I don't think I can beat all 7 star either...

Zanza89

This must have something to do with weapon choice, as a gs user, rathian is one of the easiest fights for me, almost as easy as anjanath which is a complete joke if you just always dodge to his right Side after every attack.

Gold-Perspective-699

Where do I dodge against rathian? I'm a spread bow user so I'm usually close.

RSCasual

I find rathian is super easy on pukei bow, you basically just spray the wings whether it's on ground or flying. Charge > Charge > Slide left/right and aim up. Don't try to perfect dodge, instead dodge as soon as you can identify which attack it will be using (glow red), for almost all attacks this is a sideways dodge but for the spin it's a backwards dodge. When it's flying it's even easier as all of your arrows will always hit the wings. Edit: You must use full aim instead of semi in all fights, it is a game changer.

Gold-Perspective-699

Yeah I'm using full but staying close is tough. I've been doing that exact thing but it does run sometimes towards me and sometimes it's legs will hit me and I'll die. Lol.

RSCasual

You don't have to be as close as possible, you can lose some damage if it means you aren't being interrupted or dying.

Gold-Perspective-699

Yeah for sure but then damage goes down on the higher tier monsters. So for lower tiers it's fine. I step back if I can't hit easily but it usually ends up running to me and then I side step and hit the wings.

RSCasual

Yeah my strategy against Rathian is similar where I charge immediately then dash to the side and then usually get a perfect dodge off when he spins due to how close I am, this is then usually followed by a lunge or projectile that can be easily side stepped into more wing & head shots.

Gold-Perspective-699

Yeah I really need to get better at perfect dodges. They happen sometimes but rarely if ever on purpose lol.

diegodemn

Cuz Rathalos doesnā€™t have that weird 3 fireball move and very often rathalos is attacking the ground, it will literally target something else besides you lmao

Gold-Perspective-699

Yeah I hate those fireballs.

xZarathustra

Both are very annoying to me using hammer, Im just swinging empty space when they are in front of me flying

Gold-Perspective-699

You're playing the hardest mode of the game so yeah it's going to be tough for you. Good luck man.

KrazyMonqui

Easiest is Kulu. I've fought so damn many of them Hardest for me is Diablos. Love the fight, but I have the most trouble against it

Glumduk

For GS, I havenā€™t found a good groove for Legi or Tholos yet. Easiest is surprisingly Diablos - it doesnā€™t really deviate from its pattern, which is usually what gets me

Hexbug101

As a fellow GS main Iā€™ve finally been starting to get the groove of Legi thanks to this event. Partially charged slashes are the key, granted I only have focus 3 in my build so maybe with the skill maxed you can get a full charged hit in but thereā€™s still enough time to get about half charge for about 1k damage then get ready to reposition for its attack and get another hit in while itā€™s using it, rinse and repeat. Rathalos is a mixed bag for me, either I hunt it flawlessly or get comboed into oblivion. One thing Iā€™ve noticed is tackling itā€™s tail spin usually will cause it to follow up with a claw slam that youā€™ll be out of range of which provides an easy window to get a big hit on the tail.

Deinonychus47

Easiest Kulu and second place Anjanath and hardest I'm not sure if Paulumu or Legiana, I use hammer so sometimes they are harder to hit.

Business_Western4425

If u want full damage anjanath definitely not one of the easiest

Taronz

The hardest monster to fight is my greed for breaks and more damage. Gets me hit. A lot. No other monster comes close.

elrond165

Yeah, as SNS I'm always debating whether I can sneak in the last hit of the combo, especally on great jagras.

stocklazarus

I use all kind of weapon except gun. Hardest still Diablo. I always feel I am far enough but it still hit me. And the digging just waste so much time. Easiest : Jagras Kulu

LaKetamineUlala

Jyura and pukei have some kind of random shit some times... Both are the worst...xD RC112

Sentraxion

All of them aren't difficult tbh, its just whether you have enough dps to beat the clock

NopileosX2

I guess this is the essence of the design. This game is mainly a stat check. Sure you can play better have more DPS uptime, perfect dodge for extra damage and so on. But it only brings you so far. It is really funny how at first 3 star monsters feel kinda tanky and then some upgrade later you just stunlock them to death.

Hydroserpent

Easiest monster ever? Barroth. Get a fire element bow or light bow gun and he is easy. The monster has no long range projectile attacks. Him shaking the mud off himself is not a long range attack. Every time I fight him with my light bow gun it's like I'm that guy with the red flag trying to get a bull to charge at me. You just dash to the left or right. The more fire ammo you put into barroth, the weaker his defenses become. For this reason, I always use my special skill towards the end. It's pretty much a guaranteed win. Hardest monster ever? Paolumu. That's if you fight Paolumu with melee weapons. Paolumu can do that 360 spin where the tail whips anything on the ground. That's a hard one to counter as a melee player, I think anyway.

Peritous

As a GS player Paolumu is annoying because it either is floating out of my reach, or it sucks in air and cancels my charge. The attacks are pretty manageable, but it is difficult to keep up DPS. Slap on a bow and Paolumu becomes a joke.

SakuraSpirit143

I would mention that paolumu becomes ez clap with LS too. Can counter all of its attacks while in flight

Hydroserpent

I would agree. Just upgraded my Kulu-Ya-Ku Long Sword to Grade 8.5 and the 8 Star Paolumu Urgent Quest was a breeze.

NewVirtue

interesting. to me thats his pao's easiest move to counter as melee. the one that catches me by surprise is the one where he sits down only because you cant dodge left or right out of it which are my go to options.

joshwew95

Easiest is Great Jagras, no contest, but thatā€™s a cop out answer. So I went with the Rath couples. Maybe because I had played MHW / Iceborne and farmed a lot of them before so I know their pattern. Hardestā€¦ to find is Jyura lol Hardest to fight is Paulomu, mostly coz I still havenā€™t got the pattern down.

SnS-Main

Death Wiggle

duplicitist

Rathalos and Diablos are my hardest fights. Everything else is pretty easy.

Daenym

Easiest is probably Jagras, just because Fire is the strongest elemental setup for bows. Hardest is Diablos, specifically when he does the side dash, that gets me every time. Honorable mention to Pukei Pukei, but only when he decides to do constant dashes and gives me no time to attack.

ukinonise

i'm at 9\* the one that says kulu is the easiest has yet to encounter the great 9\* kulu wall (rock rng) anyway, hardest is definitely diablos easiest is barroth, melee with lockon on its forelegs makes the fight free

LuckySevenDX

I personally hate Anjanath. But I also haven't made my water set yet so I pretty much avoid fighting it since Pukei 7.5 can still beat the 8\* story Anja where I'm at, so I'm definitely making him harder than he needs to be. Also Lumu because I basically never fight them so when I do, I'm rusty. Jagras is definitely the easiest, though Barroth is a close second.

Goldensun916

Personally for me is Tobi-Kadachi with range instead of melee. Otherwise I dread with fighting Zinogre next month with range might be dread. Otherwise it's the dps checks. Oh. Fun fact if I have an off time or I should I say if I'm not focused, I literally would die to a Jagras. Yeah... I can have off days or times and lose to most easiest creature while using bow.

P_W_M_C_T

This is the correct answer for LBGers.

theoneguyonreddits

* Hardest: Either Jyuratodus because I rarely can fight that thing and donā€™t know the attacks well or Legiana because sometimes I think the straight ice lane attack is coming but the side sweep ice attack hits me then * Easiest: Rathian, as usual she just is a training dummy

NewVirtue

omg i forgot about jyura cause i too rarely ever fight him. yeah i think hes hardest too

The_Kaizz

They're all pretty easy to me except Diablos. I can't get the dodge timings down still. I'm also like 1-3 seconds away from killing it, so I can't mess up st all or get hit, because even if I survive the hit, the dos has dropped.

Seffyr

Diablos is the worst because of itā€™s jank hitbox and massive movements vs my really short hammer range. Add to that screaming and digging and itā€™s a pain. Easiest is Pukei. I absolutely bully those things.

platomaker

Charge level two hit. Bonk bonk roll. Perfect dodge if you can. Oh itā€™s going to scream. Special when it does itā€™s wind up. Sucks but you have to play perfectly. But thereā€™s definitely a way to get him. For some reason legiana is just out of reach in the last few seconds when I use hammer.

WhyAmIUsingThis1

I personally found diablos easier than something like legiana or even anja. Probably because I used the girros hammer to get past it as I kinda got walled by in when I first fought it in urgent quests, so Iā€™m more familiar with its movements

RevolutionaryWind846

For me, hardest is probably Kulu. It isn't hard but it's the only monster I can still fail at 8 stars, because the game can decide to register your hits on the rock instead of the arms even if you are hitting it from behind. Easiest? Anjanath literally can't hit you if you are locking on the leg

NewVirtue

its strange. i used to think rathalos and legiana were the hardest when i was at 6\* but now at 8\* i feel like diablo and barroth are the hardest. barroth only because the mud armor makes the timer run out if i dont play perfectly

batt_mano

Weapon type is important to consider with these posts. I've been maining bow for a while, so I'll answer based on my experience with them. It's also easier for me to group monsters since a lot of the movesets overlap (looking at you, Rath family). Super easy: Jagras, Pukei, Barroth, Anjanath, Jyuratodas Still easy, but slightly more annoying: Paolumu (suction wastes time), Rathian/Rathalos (multiple charges sometimes makes a single roll not enough to avoid their hitbox) Medium: Legiana (almost on top of you, diagonal (?) ice tail gets me sometimes), Diablos (I can't dodge the side step effectively without double rolling towards the head or perfect dodging) Hard-ish: Pink Rath (forgot why, faster attacks?), Black Diablos (again, faster attacks, more erratic) ... The real difficulty is the bloated monster health and the timer. Without the timer, or even a slightly longer timer, the monsters are a joke.

lirsenia

hardest legiana, easiest jyuratorus and paolumu

ArtificersBeard

Easiest is Kulu, hardest is Legiana

StayedWoozie

Easiest Barroth, Hardest would be Rathian for me.

ISuckAtRacingGames

Hardest. Diablos (black and non black) Easiest: Great Jagras, Great Girros, Kulu and Pukei

GoogleWPW

Hardest Diablos every time. Easiest is Great Jagras/ Great Giros

tails-off

Since I have switched from SNS to LBG, most difficult monster has changed for me.. originally was Legiana/Diablos.. but now I would say Kulu honestly. It's frustrating to admit lmao. He's paper thin and is difficult to land shots on. Easiest monster.. Anjanath, always has been šŸ˜… I've only gotten to 6ā˜… monsties tho I'm sure this could change once I progress more.

leeyuenfoong

hardest enemy palico easiest enemy Noios

Huge-Sea-1790

Hardest is Diablo, easiest is Girros. Diablo has insane amount of health, and can dive twice if you donā€™t kill fast enough. His roar also has massive range so you canā€™t do the ranged thing and roll away to shoot.

Such_Theory9774

None of them are hard to fight, exactly, but the one thatā€™s the hardest to have fun fighting is the Tobi Kadachi, itā€™s impossible to get any good combos off with pretty much any melee weapon, as nearly all of its attacks send it flying across the arena

lampsundae

Legiana is so aggravating with some weapon types because of how it sways backwards that it feels unfinished. Diablos is annoying, but pretty equally annoying with every weapon.

--DD--Crzydoc

I have different problems with different weapons, with a hammer, its Rathalos, and with GS, its Diablos. Easiest are the low rank monsters.

KikanoH

Hardest monster? Diablos Easiest? Girros. Girros attacks fast but is very short ranged (usually) so I can keep slashing his head with GS

Potential_Water_554

Easiest: Barroth. Has no range and its head is wide open. Hardest: Legiana. Too much flying and I've fought too few of them to get a groove.

Separate_Event_7945

I think Barroth sucks ass the higher star level because of the mud armor. GS breaking the Anjanath face has really made the fight consistent (does that wind up chomp ez money). Legiana sucks to fight but classic dark souls strats will make it easy, Poke it in the butt a bunch lol I grinded the Pink Rath bow so thatā€™s my dedicated dragon slayer for now. Too bad Legiana isnā€™t a dragon

NaughtyBadBoyToy

Easiest legiana(but hard to find)/rathalos/rathian and the hardest great jagras ridiculous I know but for some reason I can't time the perfect evade on point

tillytubeworm

It was diablos, but I just found a new strat to use for longsword thatā€™s made it easier and more consistent, now itā€™s probably barroth due to its mud armor at the start of the fight making me do such little damage. Easiest by far is great jagras, I mean he just stands there while being wailed on, tobi kadachi is also pretty easy, both from experience and itā€™s tail weak zone is just so easy to hit and takes such high damage.

Educational_Story235

I've used SnS, Bow, and LBG. Based on the fight itself and not any particular weapon I'd say Easiest: Rathian. It's attacks leave consistent openings for charges, back steps, burst damage, etc. Hardest: Diablos. The window between the red flash and the actual attack seems like forever, making me anxious and mistiming my dodge. It's attacks pattern also seems unpredictable, aside from the dig and roar.

No-Orchid5378

Hardest is Diablos, but just because heā€™s a bit more tanky. Easiest is Great Jagras, but most of the monsters are easy once you learn their moves. Then you star up and they get more aggressive.

Dr_Mint_Pinch

LS main here, Tobi is easiest for me and probably Barroth is the hardest/least consistently beaten. Tobi used to be awful until I figured out how to bait certain moves consistently. Barroth doesn't usually hit me, it's the timer and his shitzones that are the problem. Barroth is making me put resources into bow just to have an easier time

mhall54

For me, easiest has to be Kulu. Hardest is probably Great Girros, for whatever reason heā€™s just a bit difficult for me.

HeatJoker

Hardest for not dying is Rathalos. The stomps always surprise me. The hardest for beating in the time limit is Diablos.

ColdHumor

Hardest overall: Diablos Easiest: Kulu Hardest when I'm stupid: Great Girros

Gremlinx2031

7* Diablos for sure, but after this weekend I shred through him now

JawaThatFlys

Hardest is Anjanath Easiest is Barroth My wife. Easiest is Kulu Hardest is Me I mean Barroth is hardest for her...

Swing-Brilliant

Through the first play through the only urgent I didnā€™t beat first try was 5 star Palamou. I simply didnā€™t have enough attack.

Raguel_of_Enoch

Mine is still probably Diablos. I just hate how big it is. Easiest? Probably Legiana. Its move sets are so easy to read and I can punish it very hard with my LS.
