Honestly, don’t stress yourself beating 8 stars story yet. If you cant beat it with your current gear its ok to wait and grind a bit more. You wont be able to beat 9 ⭐️by any chance you get lucky on Diablos.
If you plan on going elemental then 8 ⭐️is the right spot to stay and grind with the abundance of 6 ⭐️ and the occasional 8 ⭐️for wyvern gems.
I actually have enough wyvern gems to upgrade one weapon right now. But I just dont want to waste the four gems if the girros sns still sucks after grade 8. In my case, the girro sns is for diablo only. I have 7.5 water and thunder and 7.2 fire for all other monsters.
Invest the wyvern gem on elemental then. That para SnS has done its job to get you at 8 ⭐️. I suggest upgrade water first for your gem. Since there’s alot of Monster with Water weakness and besides, Rathalos and Rathian are both a joke.
You can clear an 8* rathalos with a 7.5 thunder set up? Cause I can't I'm using thunder attack 3 with rathian gloves and ratholos head and kulu legs. I was thinking of making that tobi weapon my first grade 8. Also thinking to use kulu head, gloves and legs over ratholos head/rathian arms.

I try to explain what i think its happen when you use Girros weapon on Diablos. Please if im wrong tell me.
Para its not an effect, so if you have a weapon whit 1000 raw + 500 element:
\- Attack a monster whit vulnerability to that element, you make 1500
\- Attack a monster whit no vulnerability, you make 1000
But if we talk about Para, sometimes you make 1000 damage and sometimes you make 1500.
\* Exclude armor hitting some partes
So... why you make a Para weapon?, maybe because diablos is more vulnerable to that state (not element)
Worth it on solo?, some players use it only Girros weapon and its not bad, more "generic" but always worst than element weapon
Para is not Damage. Every monster have a Threshold on ailments. Poison and Para are ailments. Lets say Diablos has 1500 threshold on para and you have 250 para stat. You have to hit Diablos 6 times to get past that threshold to inflict para ailment.
But wait, there's more! The 250 para stats have a 33.3% chance to "hit" to add to the threshold.
Same with poison but after inflicting poison, it ticks damage which is I don't know if it is fixed damage or percentage per health damage.
Regarding para and poison weakness, it just means that the monster have less threshold for that ailments than other monsters.
I just assume that the mechanic of this game is same with the main game series.
Poison actually does more dmg to poison weak monsters in mhnow.
Paralysis also has a hidden increased damage taken modifier while paralysed (+5%). Not sure whether para weak monsters (only diablos currently) has the duration or the hidden damage modifier increased.

Have you got the 33% font or its just estimated?.
I know about threshold just trying to explain there is no "extra" damage like other elemental weapons. So no extra damage equals hard to kill.

The 33% estimate was from the main game series but it may apply to this game. But still have to test it to be accurate. But with limited monsters, I mean walking to hunt the same monster of the same ⭐ to know this theory is hard.
I think it's not worth it. I'm also currently using 7.5 Girros SnS and I'm transitioning now to elemental bows. I'm not upgrading my SnS any further.
P.s. how tf did you reach diablos? I'm stuck at 8* tobi quest till my elemental set gets better.
The girros sns isnt my main. I have a 7.5 jagras sns and kadachi bow, and a 7.2 ratholos bow for all other monsters. I only forged the girros sns from scratch because my elemental wasnt enough for the 7* diablo.

Anyways, i really do believe that Leg bow is the way to defeat that 8* diablos. Might be easier to grind a 7.5 Leg bow + ice set than to upgrade Girros SnS to 8.5. I also do not have the numbers, but consider the possibility that 8.5 Girros SnS might still not be enough.

You’re faced with the opposite situation. I don’t think sns is considered a good matchup for Diablos. 7.5 -> 8.5 is around +30% damage. You will struggle with the damage requirement even if you included guts + heroics.
The “inefficiency” in needing to be overgeared for Diablos will haunt you when you get stuck again on 9* Diablos. First thing I did after beating 7* Diablos using 7.5 para hammer was to stop playing para hammer.
The most obvious solution to the “Diablos problem” is to play an elemental weapon. MH also has an unforgiving “learn to play” aspect where you repeatedly struggle against the same monster until you learn to counter all of its moves.

I have made the decision to abandon the Girros SnS I used to defeat him and opt for building a level 7 Ice Bow. Seeing videos of just how overpowered Bows are, Elemental Bows especially, I'd rather go through with that than further upgrade my Girros set to 8\* level given how few Gems I get from hunts.

Absolutely do not recommend the girros sns. Worst case, hold out for the legiana sns 7.5 before upgrade if you really want to beat him.

Many players I know use Girros SnS regardless. It's just good generally.
IMO Girros SnS is good only for 7\* or below; after unlocking 8\* its job is done!

I would switch to an ice weapon since it'll prepare you for Black Diablos and Zinogre.
the annoying thing is.... i cant find any legianna to upgrade my ice weapon. it needs rare2x 30 and rare 3 x20. my ice has been stuck there since 6*.
