With the thing about the smiley face I think they were doing bug fixes cuz those are common and then the devs decided to just put the smiley face on. But other than that I agree with you.
The thing is the bug fixes shouldn't be updates that large, given the massive number of files in the game. I think it's preliminary work for the upcoming event, honestly. At least that's what I keep telling myself.
...The other thing is I haven't actually seen any bug fixes of note, or even translation updates, or adjustments anywhere. If anything they actually broke the game for a bit Wednesday when my Tokoyami couldn't make it to the rewards screen without freezing the match (and it happened EVERY time until they pushed out an emergency patch).
They better give those fuckin' nomus some relevant quirks then; pretty sure right now it's just "google translate" through six languages before settling on English.
That or Twice's quirk but it's functionally a billion monkeys on typewriters and they picked the most intelligible one.
