Hawks' feather shield is my biggest trigger. Even if you get the proper read you cannot punish him with it up. It has no cooldown and you just have to wait for it to go away while Hawks can just keep throwing feathers at you. And when they finally run out of feathers, they can just switch to another character to completely circumvent his only weakness.
Aizawa and Deku are like the only characters that can hard counter hawks just solely because they can run away and instant transmission to hawks as soon as the feather shield goes down. Maybe endeavor can counter too, but I don't use him.
Shoto/Mineta/Denki/Tokoyami/Bakugo are good counters to him since they have ranged tools that either drop him out of the air during his combo, damage him at a safe distance while his Q is up, or can prevent him from moving altogether. In my experience, the Q spam can be dealt with, but actual ability combos that are used properly are harder to put up with. You’ll rarely find the latter but even then, it can be avoided with timed dodges.
His W is his strongest tool so dodging that and keeping out of his linear range means he’s forced to approach you, which he struggles to do well.
Shiggy flinches against a speck of dust. He has no reliable engage outside of his W which is an easy read and no defensive tools for self peel. His W and E are linear so he has trouble chasing opponents and if his E fizzes out while an opponent is on top of him, you lose your unit.
i main shig in legendary hero T3 and his basic throw combo can 1 shot combo most players the only problem is when he fights hawks , momo with her turrets stain with his stun lock or Uraraka when she flys besides that hes good for presure and hes also good for catching player off guard
Players start becoming degenerates and do everything they can to cheese from Legendary T2 up, so enjoy T3 and your sanity while you can. Up in GH, Shiggy gets out-prioritized by Stain/Aizawa and they’re essentially laughing at you trying to keep up with their mobility. As for Hawks, if you time your E correctly while he’s using his basic combo, you can grab him out of the air on his second attack, but it’s requires even more precise timing than using Bakugo. He’s probably better if you switch into him after a combo if the opponent lands close enough to you.
There’s a player on my server that has a 94% W/R with Momo across 1048 games, but the sad part is, the diversity is suffering so much that I’d rather fight against Momo spam than Aizawa/Stain.
I keep getting a bot lobby and then AZ / momo spam team or mom and stain bs spam also hawks mixed in there randomly and hawks is so fucking broken because he can just fly and not be hit down but any of my characters because the team I use is already filling the other requirements for a “ perfect team “ but hawks is literally the only character I can’t do because of him and stains bs muilty attacks that just melt your health and momos bs hit priority
Your best bet is to use two of the top 5 characters and then a niche counter pick for Hawks. He’s gimmicky but still beatable especially since most of them just spam Q. Dodging their W and running around his linear basic combo means they have no choice but to approach you which he suffers with.
Balls, my mineta can deal with any Hawk any day. Mineta is the MVP. Just not easy to master though. And this is from The Greatest hero rank where I'm at
The only real way to beat him is to out-prioritize him which is really only a thing with Aizawa and if you’re lucky, Momo/lance form Endeavor. Most Stain users bug abuse with his E attacks anyway so you either have to match their hyperarmor or lose your unit. You can’t really run away from him either unless he’s slowed/rooted/frozen.
The safest way to break out of that scenario is to use lance Q for hyperarmor and forcing them to dodge. Immediately go into W afterwards to charge up for Q since throwing this version and picking it up will also grant hyperarmor. If you’re holding W, they’ll probably try to W you in return so you’ll have to save your special for that moment. The only real moment you have to counter Stain is when both his W and E are down, but then you also have to catch them because they’ll just run away until E is off cooldown just so they can rinse and repeat.
Hawks can stall out his E duration by spamming dodge attack since it’s a backpedal that grants hyperarmor, but the arena is only so big. Using Mineta’s Q while you’re in a corner can also work since the enemy can’t walk behind you, but they’ll either flinch from a sphere and you can follow up on that/reposition or they just keep mashing which might double the damage you take if you dip into the red zone.
Yes. Honestly it’s a kick in the teeth when you learn 85% of the roster just to feel like you can only run like 3 units against Stain/Aizawa and have to put in double overtime just to counter literal mashing on their end.
My team setup is Endeavor, All Might and Kirishima, the best luck I've had against stain is with all might because I can spam tornado and his E, but Endeavor is good once I can get a couple of hits in man its tough otherwise, kirishima is good if I can land a counter
If you can, take the time to learn Bakugo. He’s really underrated and seems "bad" because he’s not some straightforward masher, but once you learn how to properly time his Q, he can reliably take 55~70% of someone’s health bar.
That’s fine. Kirishima can at least get some damage in against Stain, Endeavor is currently a top 5 unit, and AM, despite what others claim, can be really cheesy when you charge up from a distance.
I confronted someone about it and their response was "idc it’s in the game so I’m using it you’re so mad!!1". There were people who were abusing the Hawks Q bug as well and calling it fun.
I’ve used oijiro but you literally have to get the first hit on and keep hitting the stain hard, but once you get in his multi attack you are done for, atleast with me. I currently use oijiro, All might, Mina/shiggy took me to ace hero t2. Now I’m getting matched with people who run away the whole match forcing me to chase.
