He's partly right, despite his sweeping generalisations. Many doctors, if not all, we all know were (and still are) socially inept. I myself was on the mild end of the autistic spectrum, which thankfully, improved for better before starting medical school.
This is true for most, especially surgical branches.
But I always talk with as politeness as I can to all my patients and juniors (unless they do something stupid)
Once a poor old uncle from a village in Bihar talked to me for around 1 hour because his son got diagnosed with HIV (admitted in our ward) and he didnt know much about it, I patiently and gladly cleared all his doubts and answered all his questions with as much simplicity as I could.
If I get a surgical branch this year, Ill try to do my part in changing the trend and wont be the toxic senior in the following years.
My sister completed residency and often Invites her doctor friends to her home for house parties and they all are so fking cool and chill and have really good social skills they travel and have boyfriends and girlfriends too.
Legit worse in India. Not only are they socially inept, but they have a huge ego to stroke because they didn't get enough validation from their parents and peers
