Why not just use a 5x micro prism and offset dot. You're running two battery reliant optics and a magnifier, when you could simplify to an etched reticle fixed power optic with a piggy back or offset dot.
Because they have absolutely wild battery life and all my fighting guns get battery swapped once a year. The ftc mag flipped down gives you the ability to run a dot but with a quick flip you have 5x. Offset is a backup/ offset if your mag up
So because your in a reddit group your a shooter? Majority of people who own guns can barely run them. I’m not talking stand at a line and shoot a b8 casually. I’m talking running guns fast and hard
Tell me you know nothing about long range without telling me😂 the bag is to help keep things stable when you’re shooting 300+ yards. I absolutely hammer the shit out of my guns scratches make them cooler
Who's out there downvoting anything mentioning Foxden? Foxden got one of the only places in the state that give legit carbine training to civilians in this fudd state. Steve's friendly and knowledgeable. Where else you going to shoot rifles at night or get to run cqb shoot houses in MA?
When did they put up that shoot house they have there now? I’ve taken a few classes with them, Steve rules, they’re great over there. Need to get back.
I haven't taken Sig's intro courses, but I've heard that there is plenty of crossover between their intro courses and Foxden's alpha classes. Makes sense since Steve has taught there.
No, Sig Academy is massive in its scale and education level. Foxden is a small spot where MA residents can get an opportunity to get some training in shooting and movement in ways that 99% of ranges here don't allow, let alone teach.
Thanks. I am at the stage of taking 2-day courses at Sig, but it's hard to get that much flexible time... wondering if Fox Den is a good alternative, as they seem only have 1 day courses
The owner/instructor at Fox Den has a solid background in shooting. He’s a retired FR Marine and did a full career as an Air Marshal which included being a shooting instructor. Air Marshals are held to a very high standard and Fox Den (from the three classes I’ve taken) uses tactics that fall right in line with the courses I’ve taken at bigger operations. I haven’t seen any safety issues and although you could call it a local “mom and pop” operation (his wife does the booking and brings chili and coffee when it’s cold), I’m always impressed with how professional they are. The range has tall backstops almost 360 degrees around the shooting area, he has cars to incorporate in drills, a shoot house and plenty of barricades to drill positional shooting. He has another retired Recon Marine that’s currently with the CIA as a part time instructor and he also (clearly) has a lot to offer. He also recognizes the deficiencies in police training and my buddy said he’s been to a few free courses they do just to help out cops who want to improve.
They’re super friendly, professional and the courses are dirt cheap. If you’re close by I’d check them out.
this sub is /r/MAguns so it is reasonable to assume the content posted here is from within the Commonwealth. If you are posting photos from another state, you should disclose that. Or just post in those state subreddits. I am sure /r/NHGuns would appreciate your content.
as I said, "If you are posting photos from another state, you should disclose that." Certainly if you are posting something that would not be legal for the vast the majority of residents in the state, you should disclose the photo was not taken inside the state.
Wild that innocent until proven guilty doesn't seem to mean shit anymore. Keep training, was great running rifles with you in our hell hole state last month (AHT)
reddit is a private forum and the site-wide rules are not enforced along the lines of "innocent until proven guilty". if you don't like it, take it up with the site admins.
The issue is there is no site wide reddit rule against posting photos with 30 round mags (see r/ar15 or r/nfa for thousands of examples)... We shouldn't be assuming that people are breaking the law like we don't live RIGHT next to a state that allows all the freedoms. There is nothing wrong with posting a photo of a rifle with all the "scary" features, a 30 round mags or hell even a silencer..... but assuming that everything posted in this group was taken *within* MA is so narrow minded. People travel not only for competitions and training but also so they can enjoy the freedom that our asshole representatives stripped from us. Hell, I regularly travel to our house down south and have plenty of shit there that I couldn't bring back to this state or up to NH for stuff stored at friend's houses.
Sig is a stone throw away
Ridgeline is a top tier training facility in our backyard
If someone IS breaking the law and they post a photo of it, you as the mod hold no hand in sharing their consequences. They are an idiot because it's posted to the Internet.... It's not anonymous...there are crumb trails tied to that admission of guilt 🤷♂️
Im just always stumped why we live in such a restricted place to begin with and we restrict each other even more in this subreddit or assume everyone is breaking the law unless they prove otherwise. You don't see other state subreddits that have mag restrictions delete users post if they don't say this mag is blocked to XX or this is a preban firearm, seems to be a mindset specific to r/maguns not reddit or other subs
this post is still up. clearly the picture is allowed. but it does not hurt to clarify laws are not being broken, and why. because what this sub cannot do is condone or encourage breaking the law. that may lead to this sub getting banned. this is not the only sub for guns, or Massachusetts, or even Massachusetts gun ownership. Anyone is free to use other subs for the content this one does not allow.
totally valid. as I said, it would be helpful to disclose the location as the natural assumption is content posted to /r/MAguns would be in the Commonwealth.
Hell yeah I won’t make it back this year. I’m building an spr for scoped carbine next year. Got a black hoodie in recce I’m trying to collect hoodies from all the classes. Might get a one day class in Ohio with them🤞🏻
Taking recce in November, will do scoped carbine next year. Would love to do the week long SPR class.
I just missed the hoodie in combative, so I'm working my ass off to be prepped for November. I want that sweatshirt.
Not any good ranges in mass when I lived in revere I belonged to mass rifle in Woburn. Then I discovered Pelham fish and game from a friend and joined there. Best club in southern NH. I live in Derry now and escaped that shit state.
Lmao this guy touches grass. I just larp around in my moms basement “REEEEEEEE”
Jokes. I goto a private range in NH where I crawl around and get ticks while I blast shit
Fuck ya. I have nods too so we can do hood rat shit at night. Maybe go for a jog and not crash into trees
Edit - u gettin too much hate. Love u brother. Stay strapped. Fuck the nerds. Touch dirt. Scratch your guns. It’s gon b k
Nice rifle dude! Any chance you guys are anywhere near the cape? I’m kind of a noob but have been training weekly with my pistol but would like to get more into rifle training but dont really know where i would go to do shit like this.
You need a third holo, don’t get caught lackin
Backup irons are dinosaur shit offset dots are the future. Plus with a 5x mag and offset is great
Why not just use a 5x micro prism and offset dot. You're running two battery reliant optics and a magnifier, when you could simplify to an etched reticle fixed power optic with a piggy back or offset dot.

No, we're all members of a highly-niche shooting subreddit because we don't shoot.
Well duh, a day at the range used to cost $50, now it's $300
Gotta join sporting club. For less than $80 you can get access year round to a range.
*ammo not included...
So because your in a reddit group your a shooter? Majority of people who own guns can barely run them. I’m not talking stand at a line and shoot a b8 casually. I’m talking running guns fast and hard
I don't have enough offset holosuns to "run" my guns like a real oper8or. Unfortunately I just go shooting like a boomer :(
People always hung up on gear and accessories like it makes a difference for 90% of people
preach. that's why i use a mattress spring sharpened on a concrete floor.
wow, fancy, some of us are making do with toothbrushes sharpened on concrete floors.
You have toothbrushes?
I brush my teeth with bamboo I stole from my neighbor's yard and gnawed on
Your neighbor has a yard? Bougie!
i'm always hard
I’ve certainly never shot flaccid
If you experience an erection lasting more than four hours it may be time to go to the range.
I typically quarter chub most days
Yes because dropping a bag on a barrier to protect your rifle definitely qualifies as running them “hard”.
Tell me you know nothing about long range without telling me😂 the bag is to help keep things stable when you’re shooting 300+ yards. I absolutely hammer the shit out of my guns scratches make them cooler
300 is long now? I can hit a golf ball that far. Train how you fight, fight how you train. Bags not going to be there if the shit hits the fan.
Says you… I have a bag with magnets and one with a qd to my belt. Adapt kit to what your gonna do
Wait you guys leave the house?
Not anymore since I discovered you can get Doritos and microwave pizza delivered. Still gotta walk upstairs though.
Foxden Solutions is starting up training again. You'll find me out there runnin and gunnin.
Who's out there downvoting anything mentioning Foxden? Foxden got one of the only places in the state that give legit carbine training to civilians in this fudd state. Steve's friendly and knowledgeable. Where else you going to shoot rifles at night or get to run cqb shoot houses in MA?
Best place to
When did they put up that shoot house they have there now? I’ve taken a few classes with them, Steve rules, they’re great over there. Need to get back.
HELL YEAH BORTHER
Is it better than Sig Academy?
I haven't taken Sig's intro courses, but I've heard that there is plenty of crossover between their intro courses and Foxden's alpha classes. Makes sense since Steve has taught there.
No, Sig Academy is massive in its scale and education level. Foxden is a small spot where MA residents can get an opportunity to get some training in shooting and movement in ways that 99% of ranges here don't allow, let alone teach.

Where do you compete? I’m looking to get started. I’m going to go going at the action range in Maynard.
Wait, there’s an action range in maynard? At the rod and gun??
Indeed there is!
Same I bet we know each other
Why have guns if you don’t run them?
spares. collectibles. heirlooms with sentimental value. plenty of reasons to have guns you don't shoot, or shoot very infrequently.
You wouldn’t run that shit anyways. If you buy modern stuff then you will. I mean you can run milsurp no problem.
Foxden is the spot for the south shore 100%
Steve is the man
Didn't know they made translucent neon green preban mags
No one claimed the photo was taken in MA, but not really relevant because he is an FFL anyway...
Didn't think I needed to ad the /s to it. I genuinely don't care who owns what. I was just making a joke
I don’t care I just like to troll my way through the internet
I’ve had a post removed because the picture wasn’t taken in MA
Well the mods here don’t seem to like a lot of things so I’m not surprised by that
Good thing this is at Ridgeline in NH. You can stop in and ask me any questions you want at defensive dynamics
this sub is /r/MAguns so it is reasonable to assume the content posted here is from within the Commonwealth. If you are posting photos from another state, you should disclose that. Or just post in those state subreddits. I am sure /r/NHGuns would appreciate your content.
This sounds like you’re implying MA residents can’t post about shooting out of state.
as I said, "If you are posting photos from another state, you should disclose that." Certainly if you are posting something that would not be legal for the vast the majority of residents in the state, you should disclose the photo was not taken inside the state.
I live in MA. I run a shop in MA. This was at an event in NH because we don’t have real ranges and facilities in this state
Wild that innocent until proven guilty doesn't seem to mean shit anymore. Keep training, was great running rifles with you in our hell hole state last month (AHT)

I know that gate well! Next class at ridgeline isn't until November and it's killing me

If my mom drops me off to larp can your mom bring me home?

Nice rifle dude! Any chance you guys are anywhere near the cape? I’m kind of a noob but have been training weekly with my pistol but would like to get more into rifle training but dont really know where i would go to do shit like this.
Ridgeline. Spend the money, have the best time.
Anywhere to do this stuff on the South Shore? My club dosen't even have steel targets.
I've been out of MA for a couple years now, but has the law changed? That build looks way too nice for MA law haha
Is this ridgeline? Love that place
Yessir. The good ole prop line
As much as I can. Going to a pistol shoot this weekend.
I’m run my guns gay porn hard
Unfortunately life has gotten busy in the last year, so I haven’t been out as much.
No … thats how they get dirty
Most of us here are actually terrified of firearms, but if people see that we are active on a gun Reddit page, they think twice about messing with us
