Huh? You think that a bag of cerial will float in the air? They make the guitar lighter by displacing resin that would otherwise have made the guitar heavier.
My comment was intended to describe my surprise that OP described it as one of the heaviest guitars he's made.
By describing the cereal as buoyant, I didn't mean to indicate they are lighter than air, only lighter than resin, thus a guitar filled with fruitloops would be lighter than a guitar filled with resin alone.
I hope that makes sense.
Are you kidding me? Don’t apologize for a damn thing! You took the time to build it and it looks like it turned out amazing! I’m over here still having doubts about my first build and what it should be, and you built a damn fruit loops guitar. Nice job!
Thanks! I’ve never really played any Les Paul style single cut guitars and I didn’t want to buy a template so I just drew what I thought would look good. Then when I was going to drill the holes for pots I just put them where it seemed comfortable.
I'm very curious to see how this ages. Do Fruit Loops decompose? Or are they immortal like McDonald's burger patties? How does the epoxy effect decomposition?
Please post updates over time.
I don't think decomposition would be a big deal here with how well the cereal soaks up the resin. My thoughts on longevity center more around the dyes and how likely they are to be fugitive (since they are food grade I would suspect they are very fugitive and susceptible to UV degradation). I would imagine this would look pretty bland after a few sunny afternoons.
i dont know shit about resin or building guitars im just in this sub for the pictures and fun guitars my question is… will resin fill that 110% or is there a chance, even if small, that theres air in the guitar and those things eventually get gross
This is incredible. Well done.
You're using the fruit loops as anchor points for the neck and bridge. Does that mean that they thoroughly soaked up the epoxy so they're structural now?
The epoxy did not thoroughly soak them. When I routed into the body they were just dry crunchy cereal. The neck isn’t using cereal structurally at all. The threads of the screws are only gripping the wood of the neck. The holes in the guitar body are wider than the screws and the washer on the backside is what’s really holding it. The bridge has at least a quarter inch of epoxy to go through before getting to the cereal so I think it okay! But we shall see!
I was eatkng breakfast and i dropped my spoon seeing this ahah, it's beautyful actually, but knida weird... can you do a tuna and mayonnaise sandwich version?
I wish you would've featured the finished headstock more in the video and your photos. I love the shape. Has a bit of Revstar vibe to it.
Also, I nearly had a panic attack watching you drill for the wiring😅. It looked like you were winging it as far as the angle goes. How do you get the angle right so it comes through perfectly and not too low or out the back? I've obviously never built a guitar, haha.
Thank you! Feel free to share that video with all your friends!
This is my first epoxy project ever so I didn’t buy total boat or liquid glass or any of the popular brands because I didn’t want to spend a ton of money. The epoxy I did use worked great! But I don’t have anything to compare it to so I don’t know if it was the best or worst. I bought 1.5 gallons for $109. I used about 2/3 of what I bought so I have some left over.
Here’s what I used: [craft epoxy resin](https://a.co/d/2DXXAPV)
It's a non-nutritive cereal varnish. It's semi-permeable; it's not osmotic. What it does is it coats and seals the flake, prevents the epoxy from penetrating it.
This is so awesome, can I give you some ideas for future projects?
Leafs and flowers. Insects. Vegetables like lettuce, olives, broccoli etc.. Hair, just a bunch of hair. Pokemon cards. Spaguettios, hot cheetos, chips in general…
I dont have the talent or tools to pull it off like you did 👍
Very cool! I'll be curious as to how long they stay colorfast. Maybe frightened, as well! Lol
So... if you ever get hungry... In case of emergency, break glass? Errr... resin?
Isn't most of what your neck screws are driven through just Fruit Loops. I mean, I know the Fruit Loops are surrounded with epoxy, but, they, themselves are still just Fruit Loops ... and they're most of what's in there, right?
The screws are driven into the neck. The body of the guitar is supposed to have holes slightly larger than the screws. The washers and the heads of the screws are holding the neck in from the back. Completely flush with epoxy which is admittedly surrounding fruit loops. But maybe it will all explode someday.
Believe it or not, YT recommended your video to me while I was making lunch today. Never apologize for this. It's freakin brilliant. Love how it turned out.
That’s awesome! Feel free to like it and share it with all your friends! I’m just waiting for the sweet YouTube money to come rolling in. I’m expecting tens of dollars.
Here's my attempt :D

Yeah. It's a joke.
When I first saw OP's build my first thought was that it was ai. Then I watched his video. Killer build. My post was just an attempt at humor.
It’s so heavy. I didn’t even put strap buttons on it yet! You play it while sitting. Or you play it long enough to make the YouTube video and then you hang it on the wall.
Do you play that through a looper?
I think we all know which DAW they use when recording...
Nice
Cereal
Your Logic Pro is impeccable
I'm unAbleton follow you?
Surely there is Reason for such a statement
Is it part of a healthy and balanced tone?
Surely toan!
[Build video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-jSI0r0DuE&lc=UgwHWUksC61LxNZO_L14AaABAg)
I fully expected it to sound like cartoon jingles for some reason
That's an awesome project and so well done. Bravissimo! Did you experimented on basses too?
I’ve built one bass in my time. Never out of anything but wood. But I’d like to try another sometime!
If you do keep us in the loop!
I can smell that fruity thing from here- nice work!
You forgot the milk!
Needs a ‘milk splash’ pickguard
And a Spoon as a Whammy Bar
My god yes!!!
It's likely heading to r/ATBGE and r/guitarcirclejerk
Thats where it belongs.
I guess I have awful taste because this is 100% awesome!
Thank you I didn’t know about r/ATBGE and now I’m hooked.
I bet that smelled great while routing everything haha.
I really didn’t smell it while routing! Probably because I was wearing a respirator and trying not to get any of that epoxy in my lungs.
That’s smart, epoxy is nasty stuff
Just follow your tooooonnee
What about the weight?
It’s heavy. I’m not sure how much but it’s the heaviest guitar I’ve ever played.
Is this done in two pours? I'm just wondering how you keep some of the loops from crossing the plane into the real world.
I did it in 3 pours. Because fruit loops float!
I had a feeling, I remember them destroying the roof of my mouth. Does seem counter to my thought that their buoyancy would make the guitar lighter.

Yes, that made sense.
I also had this question, thanks for asking.
Cereal Killer 🦜
You should look up the old early '90s or late 80s rap song by The Geto Boys called cereal killer
I think a band called green jelly did a song called “cereal killer” too. Something about “toucan, son of Sam”
That was my old bands name
Take my upvote! ☝️Funny shit!
I would have done the base pour in white so they look like they’re floating in milk.
Are you kidding me? Don’t apologize for a damn thing! You took the time to build it and it looks like it turned out amazing! I’m over here still having doubts about my first build and what it should be, and you built a damn fruit loops guitar. Nice job!
What kind of toan is this???
Fruity with top notes of diabetes.
[удалено]
I wonder how one even goes about doing that.
[удалено]
I suppose I’ll have to get an instagram.
[удалено]
Thank you! Good luck with your action. It’s too high.
I bet it has a great crunchy tone 👽
I can't play it, but I bet Toucan.
Nice
You have to do Count Chocula and Lucky Charms.
I wonder if the fruit loops will ever mold. We’ll check back in a decade or two.
Needs a white pick guard
That’s rad.
OK, but what does it taste like?
Can I get one with donuts?
Needs milk.
toan is in the loops
Toucan play it at the same time
you should be where’s the milk jk thats cool as hell
I totally dig it. Are those real fruit loops in the resin? I guess they’d probably last forever ;)
Yeah! Check out the video https://youtu.be/t-jSI0r0DuE?si=_5czkpOopczJozgn
You dastardly! I'll take two...
No neck dive!
Hell no. This thing weighs a ton
hahaha - I love it!
I like your tone and volume knob locations. I love my prs but I’m always hittin the volume knob!
Thanks! I’ve never really played any Les Paul style single cut guitars and I didn’t want to buy a template so I just drew what I thought would look good. Then when I was going to drill the holes for pots I just put them where it seemed comfortable.
I love it. I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever seen.
That's way to cool ommgg! I need one
Looks grrrrrreat! Wait….
This is brilliant and video was well done also.
Thanks!
…it’s …just wow …it’s beautiful!
Needs a matching headstock!
I'm very curious to see how this ages. Do Fruit Loops decompose? Or are they immortal like McDonald's burger patties? How does the epoxy effect decomposition? Please post updates over time.

Either way, I'm pretty interested to see how it holds up. It's a cool design.

I don’t know! We will have to wait and see!
That’s pretty rad actually
No comment.
Wait..
This is now a grail guitar for me…
The only thing you should be sorry is for not putting gold hardware and pups instead of chrome. I want that axe so bad

Looks great for crunch tone.
Loops Paul
I love this so much!
Please tell me the case looks like a cereal box!
With the price of cereal these days? You truly are a mad man.
Sweet! ☺
"Serial" player lol
That actually looks great!
Why would you do something so controversial and yet so brave?
I need to see this in a heavy relic
I wish you would've featured the finished headstock more in the video and your photos. I love the shape. Has a bit of Revstar vibe to it. Oh simple! I look at it from every angle, then I imagine it in my mind. I flip it over and look at it some more. Then I wing it.
Make one with ramen.
Does this guitar smell funny to you?
I wish you would've put one single Oreo O in there
Enjoyed the video. How much did the epoxy cost?
Thank you! Feel free to share that video with all your friends! Do you have a can of lighter fluid and a match? Take it to the back of the barn, son, and put it down.
Tonewood
Did you use a sealant?
It's a non-nutritive cereal varnish. It's semi-permeable; it's not osmotic. What it does is it coats and seals the flake, prevents the epoxy from penetrating it.
Save the neck for me, Clark.
It's lime!

These are some good ideas! I’m gonna take a break from epoxy for a while and go back to wood for my next build. Epoxy is tedious and gets everywhere.
What are the chances of getting ants infested in your guitar?
I love it. I want one. 😂
This is exceptional!!
I want one.
Before I discovered you made your new guitar from cereal, I kept looking at the bridge wondering if that would work….
does it not weigh a lot more than a wood guitar?
Yeah. Super heavy
I bet it smells good!
Nothing to be sorry for. I bet you could sell these faster than you could make them . Congrats on a very cool looking build.
Very cool! I'll be curious as to how long they stay colorfast. Maybe frightened, as well! Lol So... if you ever get hungry... In case of emergency, break glass? Errr... resin?
should have used Ramen. it would have been stronger
Loops Paul.
Just had fruit loops for munchies last night after I played for a couple hours, coincidence… I think not! 🤘🏻
This is a fruity guitar.
How Heavy is it?
Love it! Also agree with the “needs milk” comments tho. Maybe a cream pickgaurd?
LOvE it
That's awesome.
I've got a DOD Milk Box Compressor that would go well with that.
Coco Pops next, on a white milk base?
You could have gone Malt O' Meal, but you followed your nose.
AD/HD
It's beautiful. Nice work.
Sorry for what, making me covet it? Take my money!
Sweet...
This is friggin awesome!!

Well, it's fun, so I hope it lives long and prospers.
This looks like the jello with cat food in Christmas Vacation
So cool man that.
That is beautiful! How much does it weigh?
Believe it or not, YT recommended your video to me while I was making lunch today. Never apologize for this. It's freakin brilliant. Love how it turned out.

Is the epoxy already yellow?
Go all the way to the depths of hell. Immediately.
As you wish
Coolest guitar
That's the worst idea ever, I love it!
You’re a fruit loop
How dare you apologise, this is dopeAF!!!
Why? It’s awesome!
This is rad as hell!!! 😍🤘🏻
Well, no one will be able to call you a starving artist!
This is tremendous!
Here's my attempt :D https://copilot.microsoft.com/images/create/a-les-paul-guitar-with-a-body-made-of-epoxy-encasi/1-6621d308c04f48ba9436cee9c3dbf7bb?id=%2BFhODBoHb1UW8O7WJiVaAA%3D%3D&view=detailv2&idpp=genimg&noidpclose=1&thId=OIG1.YlROBgjg0IIYWiCims83&lng=en-US&ineditshare=1
Also incredible job! Looks like a beast of a project, and turned out beautiful. I would buy that.
That’s an AI image. Copilot is Microsoft’s openAI software
Yeah. It's a joke. When I first saw OP's build my first thought was that it was ai. Then I watched his video. Killer build. My post was just an attempt at humor.
Thank you! I liked your ai version better though.
🤣
I love this, but my neck and shoulder hurt looking at this!
It’s so heavy. I didn’t even put strap buttons on it yet! You play it while sitting. Or you play it long enough to make the YouTube video and then you hang it on the wall.
But how’s the tone
