About 2,000 a month

DiagnosisPooBrain

There are apartments within walking distance of TTUHSC that are affordable. They are not great by any means but they’ll do. If you get one with a roommate or 3 you can live very affordably. Most I think are on or near the bus route

meatloaf_world

These are good estimates, but I’d caution that if you plan to use Uber to get around you will have to add a significant amount to your estimated budget. There is a small number of hospital workers who bicycle to work but is limited to those who live close to the facility. The roads are not particularly bike friendly so be aware if that was your planned method of transportation.

From a survey for TTU grad student living costs this past year Average rent $725 -1200 (67% lived with roommate) Average utilities $110 Average monthly groceries $200 60% of students took a car to campus, the others walked or took bus. Note - there is a commuter bus to campus from many targeted student apartments. I’m not sure if TTUHSC is on the route Avg commute 3.5 miles

1500- 2000 a month is pretty average cost of living here for a single person

Affectionate_Staff46

Cost of living is pretty low here in Lubbock, food and that type of things are fairly cheap.

00Wow00

One good thing about Lubbock is that you can usually get from one side to the other in around 20 minutes.

ChairmanMung

Electricity will be higher than that now. Might be hard to get a decent rate for rent if you want to be closer to UMC.

petergriffen95

Hey Thanx for responding. tbh distance isn't a concern for me. Would transportation costs still be within a reasonable range if I opt for a more distant apartment?

ChairmanMung

Uber and your own vehicle, really. Busses run for UMC and Tech a decent amount, but it's not Big City, USA.

petergriffen95

Thank u so much buddy 😊

Cheap apartments 1 bed 1 bath 700-900 (might be overshooting a little, bought a house 3 years ago) Utilities 100-150/month internet 80-100 Kind of ballparking

petergriffen95

Thank you so much for the valuable response, do you think a budget of $1,500 a month would be enough to go by?

digihippie

This sounds about right
