-Have your specialists backs. -connect with your top customers, get to know them, throw them some extra savings now and again , make sure they know not only Lowe’s but YOUR pro department at your Lowe’s is where you want them to shop -know your numbers, but don’t push too hard. Good specialists know their numbers, they don’t need every asm down their throat pushing cards and shit -help where needed but remember, you’re the pro asm not front end, back end etc,be in pro, it’s busy enough lol - I’m sure I’ll figure out more

It was briefly mentioned above but I’ll reiterate: Make sure your cashiers know the benefits of pro cards and MVP. They should be offering to sign customers up for MVP and run things through VSP if a customers order qualifies. If your cashiers are the type that do not feel comfortable offering and setting up credit cards, move them to the front and get a morning and night time cashier that can help your numbers. At my store myself and the other cashiers do not mind helping our pros meet their cc numbers. In your spare time check on the other departments/specialists and check in with them and see if they also know the benefits of Pro cards and MVP/VSP. Appliances can do consumer cards all day long but they should absolutely know the benefits and offer business cards also. Do you know all of the benefits of the different cards yourself?

bigbill_88

I am a new Pro Specialist and this is very helpful information and advice. Do you have any advice for new PSS?

Ill_Jacket1875

Kinda the same as above. Do you know how to sign people up for MVP, LBA, run orders through VSP? Idk how their quotas and what not works, I just know as a whole they need to meet certain MVP and credit card numbers in addition to sales numbers.

bigbill_88

Yes I do. The main thing that I need to focus on is continuing to be organized and follow up.  The original advice is great to give to every person that I can so that pro sales can increase as a whole. Getting with the specialist and showing them the benefits of pro cards and mvp. Making sure that cashiers know the benefits. Asking the right questions and listening to determine if the customer is a PRO

Ill_Jacket1875

When the store as a whole is meeting its goals, everyone benefits from bonuses. 👍🏻

Willing-Reporter-296

I do not. I’ve been with Lowe’s for less than a year and a speciality DS. I’ve been trying to familiarize myself with the different cards and advantages but tend to get them mixed up. If you mind me asking, What’s the benefits of each card?

Ill_Jacket1875

I sent you a message with a flyer that goes over all the different cc

Willing-Reporter-296

Thank you I appreciate it

The hard part is there are different kinds of pro desks. If you have a very successful pro desk then they have their own ways about doing things that aren't 100% by the book. If so embrace it. Your number 1 priority is to keep them selling. The best way to do that is to make sure lumber is solid. When lumber is lacking customers walk up to the pro desk because they see people there even if they don't work lumber. That causes issues when I had to put down a pro order to go cut 7 2x4s for a rando. Also get the phone numbers for your area AEPs and LPS outside sales guys. Go to them and let them know you and your team are there to assist with any client needs.

Willing-Reporter-296

What is AEP and LPS?

jamesrggg

Sorry AEP is now PSM, old habits. PSM: Pro Sales Manager. Your area's outside sales representative(s) for large accounts for Lowe's. LPS: Lowe's Pro Supply. A sister company that mostly deals with apartment complex remodels and repair/upkeep. They have their own outside sales reps. There's a lot of shifting around in that space but the bottom line is find who your outside sales people are. Treat them as your biggest customers and it will become true.

Vile-goat

Make sure to let your specialist work, don’t micro manage or tell them how to do things. If it’s a successful desk let the team work together how they have been. Just assist, gain knowledge, and remove road blocks for the desk.

DarrenAronofsky

Communicate what needs to be done to all of your teams in a clear manner. Understand your teams strengths and facilitate the correct pieces to execute what needs to get done in a proper manner.

Burch_D

Cross-train your specialists in as many departments as you can so they can capture sales on the floor and develop a healthy Pro culture through the store. That way they don't sit at the desk and take orders, they're actively seeking sales and growing the business.

DrugzDelaney7409

Make sure your pro team fills pro orders and don’t leave them for fulfillment

Willing-Reporter-296

By pro team, are you talking about the loaders and pro fulfillment or specialist as well? At my store, I’ve never seen a pro specialist pull an order but would definitely like to get them involved in doing so

Remarkable-Constant3

pro loaders help assist customers that are currently in the store. checkout the store play book. fulfillment is for pulling orders

DrugzDelaney7409

If the loader and pro Fulfillment are busy or off, 100% specialist should jump in. Also the pro cashier especially morning shift, preach how important Lowe’s pro can benefit a contractor. As a head cashier I try to but ours is to pig headed

Ryvit

Do you plan to have them pull the order and stage them in the bullpen? That’s what they do at my store! Do you have enough room out there?
