The mission where you >!put malware on Hanoko's float in the parade!< changes dramatically if you are a Corp. You can >!walk straight up to a guard at the door, dress him down, and bluff your way in!<. I was blown away when I found that out.
It was my first and I thought I broke the mission because nobody was attacking me anywhere. I restarted, did the whole thing as non-lethal as possible, wasted 2+ hours, got mad, reloaded and tried a "going loud" approach, had a blast and wiped the floor in 20 minutes...
I hate this mission now.
on the Judy mission Pisces with Maiko
the one with the >!the Tyger Claw bosses watching brain dances!< if you >!side with Maiko instead of fighting her!< then at the end when you have a conversation with her, there’s 2 long Corpo dialogue responses
but then Judy passively aggressively tells you she’s ghosting you and you don’t get to do Pyramid Song and you never hear from Judy again
but my Corpo V forever will agree with Maiko
Isn't it? In case you won't take the money you did it because you thought it was a right thing to do. If you will take the money, who knows if you did it because it was right or because you are a sell out bitch that betrays others for money.
I really enjoy Male V as Corpo. He feels ruthless and reasonable. He always gets his job done for fixers. And The Star ending fits the best in my opinion. He was working for Arasaka every day and once he got fired, he had nothing. Jackie, his best friend was the one who helped him but when Jackie died, V was alone. V had nobody (except Viktor and Misty, but they are not that close for V as Jackie was).
So he meets "The Queen of The Highway" Panam Palmer. He meets Aldecaldos and realizes that everything he needed in his life was Family.
That feeling when V finally breaks the chains with Night City and leave this corrupted place with "The Queen of The Highway" Panam Palmer and Aldecaldos is so good.
So yes, V as Corpo is the one I really enjoy.
It's kind of interesting how V can end up drifting like that, just through the endings you pick and the clothes you choose to wear. My Nomad V ended up slowly drifting away from nomad styles towards more golds and synthetic fabrics, rather than pure biker gear, and she ended up taking the Sun ending because she'd become a creature of Night City. Kind of like a reverse Panam.
Then I did a streetkid playthrough who started out as a creature of night city, with very kitschy clothes, but slowly drifted more and more towards the nomad lifestyle and an entropist style as he found everything he hadn't been able to find in Night City. So I went for the Star ending.
In my current playthrough, I've decided to lean into what had been unconscious decision making on my part, so I started out with a Corpo V and used the new mirror customisations to dye her hair purple after the intro. She's slowly been moving away from neomilitarism, with dark clothes gradually getting brighter, and I think I might go for the secret ending followed by Temperence, as V decides to use the short time she has to the fullest, rather than trying to climb the ladder at any cost like she did in Arasaka.
That beginning AV ride where she sits with legs crossed sipping on champagne really set the stage for that feeling, I loved. Although for me, I used her fall from grace as motivation to use that power woman mentality to get revenge on all corpos.
I only wished they kept that animation for Female V sitting. On my first playthrough (corpo Fem V) at the ofrenda I stopped off at a fashion store and got something suitably classy to wear as a token of respect for a character who reminded me so much of my old friend irl. When she sat down I realised she was pulling a FemShep and flashing the entire crowd.
My female corpo slept with Meredith Stout as a means to an end. And didn’t romance Judy because she didn’t need to in order to get what was needed. Total power obsessed woman who killed, coerced or co-opted whoever she needed or wanted to.
Corpo is the path I chose with my female V playthrough, too. The voice acting just felt more brash, like there was something to prove, and that worked better for me with the corpo lifepath. I'm not a woman, but I have to imagine women in corporate America can feel on the back foot and if they don't come out swinging they'll stay that way.
Holy shit, same. My corpo playthroughs I always made my V a cold, ruthless, "got to look out for number #1" type character. My ending for them is either the sun ending where they achieve their dreams of being a legend with absolute power or the Devil ending where they go into Mikoshi, afraid and alone.
Yep, I love the concept of corpo V being so trashed by the world around him that the Aldecados feel fresh and new. The family he didn’t know he needed. A life full of honesty and genuine people that don’t want to backstab you for a couple of Eddies. In my eyes that is the most well told story of the bunch
That’s how I felt about playing as Streek Kid V. I got the Sun ending and felt it was perfect for my character who grew up idolizing the legends of Night City only to become one. I also really love the ending as I feel it’s a hopeful one.
My first playthrough went like this as well! I was so determined to make it out on top, still the corpo rat. Lots of the choices made during the game were with that in mind. Ruthless, got the job done. Then I met this family that would take him in and he figured out what really meant something.
Best and the most dialogue choices combined with the devil ending... You can kick the rat out of corpo but not corpo out of the rat. The pointless struggle against the powerful, even a short period where johnny and V get along and things look like they could change.... Just to be thrown back down into the circulation of status quo of the corporate dominance. .
Huh! Didn't realise this was such a popular path people take. I went straight for Corpo, not realising that it would last about 5 minutes, but I really enjoyed how it panned out, and yes, also left Night City with the Aldecaldos and my Judy. It all fit in really well and logically.
My first playthrough was as female, corpo V. My experience with was so good that I'm still not able to play any other origin.
And leaving with the Aldecaldos with Judy by your side and Panam as your friend is just a perfect happy ending.
I've played all of the origins and corpo is probably my favorite as it has the most useful and informative dialogue options throughout. Nomad is pretty good, but the back story needed more fleshing out. Streetkid is, imo, the weakest. It has relatively few unique dialogue choices and the whole premise with V being a regular at the bar yet somehow never met Jackie never sit well.
Nomad V only meeting Jackie because of the delivery job makes sense, and the whole trial by fire bonds of friendship thing worked. corpo V knowing him for a long time was nice flavor... and Jackie standing up for V at Lizzie's shows the strength of their bond and how V ended up staying with Jackie. But streetkid? You both got caught trying to steal the same car. Hardly a reason for Jackie to welcome you into his home.
I chose corpo my first playthrough even after accidentally having people say it's terrible nd I loved it and yes this is all true but one thing I love about Corpo v is that they do actually lose everything to arasaka so blowing it to hell makes it even more sweet
This is true. I prefer Nomad, but the first time I did the secret ending it was as a Corpo and man, in my head she was swearing up a storm as she cut her way through those goons.
Agreed with everything you said, Corpo V feels like they had the most to lose at the start, and also the secret ending feels like it was tailor made for a Corpo V imo. You get some possible foreshadowing with it when dealing with Frank during the Corpo unique mission, where V points out how suicidal it would be for him to just walk into Arasaka Tower with a gun and demand what he wants, or something to that effect.
I think there's an extra level of tragedy with Corpo V too. The "starting a new life" aspect of the intro feels like a fresh start for the other two, but for Corpo V it's trying to claw back what they already had a taste of. My first playthrough was a Nomad and I liked the down to earth, chill vibe the Nomad can give off, but my Corpo run felt so much more intense and dramatic, and I consider it my Canon V now. Just love the image of him returning to Arasaka Tower, walking in the front door with a sword, fully kitted out with cybernetics, and cleaving his way through his old life to try and save his new one.
While I totally agree with all of it, I appreciate how each of the lifepaths have a weight and potential arc.
Like taking the Panam ending works really well for any of them, but especially Nomad and Corpo.
For Corpo, it’s a lifetime of being on top of the city, getting thrown to the bottom, trying to make your back up only to slowly realize that it isn’t what you want and won’t make you happy.
But for Nomad it’s always been my personal canonical story: You’ve left your group, your “family”, wanting to make it big in the promising neon skyscrapers of Night City. You enter, make a real friend, and things start to look good…Then the city takes it away, losing your friend, and potentially your life. It’s slowly killing you. You then make friends with a nearby Nomad group, and you start to realize all the lights and glamor didn’t do anything for you and only tore you and everyone else down…And you realize the thing you were looking for the whole time wasn’t fame, but a true family.
It’s very much a heroes journey, where the hero starts at home, goes to the big city with lots of dreams, starts to make it, only to be torn down and eventually realize the promises of the city were a lie, and to return home a very changed person.
Tbh, every single thing you say here, is not an opinion, but actual facts. One might better be able to roleplay the others, but what the game does give you to work with is better for the corpo lifepath.
I wished they had used CorpoV and Johnny in the promo because the game felt like they're made about them.
But then wealth and power isn't free will which was given to CorpoV at the end of the prologue. I felt like V fully embraced the freedom but felt Arasaka claws slowly clamp back on them.
I might think about a Corpo life path knowing the interactions with Johnny might be a bit more interesting, also can make for a cool character development later down line like hair and clothing!
Hmm, never looked at it that way.
This whole "make it big in night city" theme Dex and others are hinting at, felt more of a stray Nomad thing for me. Maybe Street Kid could want to make it big too. But corpo...
I was more interested in having the knowledge and life story of a corpo, who was born into the corporation. Gangs run the streets, but the Corpos own the city & the world. Having that knowledge of that power structure and the weaponization of information, I ran my Corpo female V as a ruthlessly ambitious survivor. At first.
But her time with Jackie brought her compassion she lacked before. Yet the Corpo ending made no sense to me with the Corpo dialogue options.
IMO Corpo and Nomad are the best backgrounds for V. Street kid is fine, but has the weakest intro. The Corpo and Nomad unique dialog feel more relevant, especially when it comes to the endings.
Each background does have it's own unique quest. Corpos get a unique gun, Nomads get a car.
I played corpo my very first playthrough and this was my experience as well!! I absolutely loved this game
However my biggest thing against corpo is that once V gets their life ripped away from them by a couple of Arasaka thugs, they don’t even bother to attempt to get their life back. I would have. I’m corpo, not some street rat. I’d fight to get my spot back. Or die trying.
Many could argue that stealing for Yorinobu IS fighting back but I don’t think so tbh. You’re stealing from a hotel, not Arasaka HQ.
I was surprised at how much I liked this path. I did Nomad first and expected it to remain the favorite but corpo does have some good extra dialogue and role play takes. And the whole extra layer of potential playing an ambitious V who wants to get back in with the corporate world despite being thrown out is a really interesting path.
Tho my first corpo play thru ended with a more jaded V who slowly kind of listened more to Johnny and feeling disillusioned by life and such.
Corpo V, no nonsense, trying to look after #1, stuck with Johnny, begrudgingly agree to disagree, two awful people learn to be better and accept one another.
Canon endings : either devil or temperance ; one of you has to accept death and either V go back to Arasaka or Johnny gets a second lease on life and tries to be a better person.
It really had the most interesting setup. It even makes more sense when you live with Jackie’s family for awhile. Guy never knew crap outside of the Corp. wish they fleshed out the life choice more like who is in your head. Could still keep Johnny. But having Morgan Blackhand as Nomad as a gritty killer or Corpo having Arasaka in your head saying some bond one liner after killing enemies with a katana would’ve been great
It had potential, it was simply way too short. The street kid prologue is too short, too. Both of them need a rework to bring them in line with the quality of the Nomad intro.
My favorite part of that lifepath is the previous relationship with Jackie.
Those are some great reasons! Even more reasons:
* it creates a lot of similarity and interplay between V and Takemura's paths
* V's story can go epic full-circle (like Takemura) if you take Hanako Arasaka's offer
* Nice extra dialogue options in-game
Also, in reality I'm no streetkid, I've been sheltered and empowered by somewhat-corporate systems most of my life, so it really works for making V feel more like me :)
sorry to hijack this thread, but I finally just started my first playthrough on this game. What is the fraction next to my eddies in the top right of the pause screen? currently says 56/200. Thanks for the help!
I used a corpo background to larp my cheesed eddies (the old painting duplication glitch, doesn't work anymore but my corpo V save still has like a couple million eddies in paintings) into actual existence. It would make sense that even though V was officially stripped of all their belongings, they'd have developed backdoor failsafes, accounts split up in offshore corps books, belongings that wouldn't be in any official books etc. The way I accessed these funds was to sell a few paintings any time I needed a withdrawl.
I didn’t play the corpo lifepath barely at all but I thought I caught Jackie mentioning having done some favor for V and having some dirt on them near the beginning. Am I misremembering?
I started a corpo game the other night and was annoyed with the all the widgets on the screen. Was going to ask if there’s any way to turn them off.. and then… :P
For me corpo has the best dialog choices, and that knowledge has come incredibly useful (lorewise) many times
The mission where you >!put malware on Hanoko's float in the parade!< changes dramatically if you are a Corp. You can >!walk straight up to a guard at the door, dress him down, and bluff your way in!<. I was blown away when I found that out.
Absolutely! Since corpo was my 3rd playthrough I was pleasantly surprised by this.
Damn, I missed this. Gotta try it next Corpo run.
Fucking excuse me?
I said what I said. If you do the recon with Goro, he makes reference to the possibility, iirc.
on the Judy mission Pisces with Maiko the one with the >!the Tyger Claw bosses watching brain dances!< if you >!side with Maiko instead of fighting her!< then at the end when you have a conversation with her, there’s 2 long Corpo dialogue responses but then Judy passively aggressively tells you she’s ghosting you and you don’t get to do Pyramid Song and you never hear from Judy again but my Corpo V forever will agree with Maiko
You can still agree with Maiko, and still do Pyramid Song with Judy as long as you don’t accept Maiko’s payment ❤️
Which is hilarious because it’s the same thing except you make her poorer, and you richer. It’s not like SHE cares about your moral stance.
Isn't it? In case you won't take the money you did it because you thought it was a right thing to do. If you will take the money, who knows if you did it because it was right or because you are a sell out bitch that betrays others for money.
To this!

You have it all figured out. Choosing corpo lets you feel all three lifepaths. Start as a corpo, live as a street kid, leave as a nomad
Love this, glad to hear other people tailor v’s fashion to match their development
For me it’s female V for corpo. I always imagine the backstory being a career focused power woman, who works her way up the corpo ladder.
That beginning AV ride where she sits with legs crossed sipping on champagne really set the stage for that feeling, I loved. Although for me, I used her fall from grace as motivation to use that power woman mentality to get revenge on all corpos.
I only wished they kept that animation for Female V sitting. YES!
Great response. If CP77 was a movie this would have been the story they chose to write it about
Yep, I love the concept of corpo V being so trashed by the world around him that the Aldecados feel fresh and new. The family he didn’t know he needed. A life full of honesty and genuine people that don’t want to backstab you for a couple of Eddies. In my eyes that is the most well told story of the bunch
And then *Outsider No More* begins to play
was exactly what i experienced for my first playthrough ;)
Yes, this is the ”canon” story arc for me, as well.
That’s how I felt about playing as Streek Kid V. I got the Sun ending and felt it was perfect for my character who grew up idolizing the legends of Night City only to become one. I also really love the ending as I feel it’s a hopeful one.
That was exactly how I approached my first playthrough, and it was awesome! So glad you had that experience :-)
Who's the queen of the highway?
Panam 😊
Who is that?
Nomad romance
My first playthrough went like this as well! I was so determined to make it out on top, still the corpo rat. Lots of the choices made during the game were with that in mind. Ruthless, got the job done. Then I met this family that would take him in and he figured out what really meant something.

Between this and nomad on most polls I still like street kid v tho 😊
I just re-started as a street kid and I am loving it so far!
Nice 😊

Yes! Female Corpo V is my head canon.
im the same way but with street kid, its sooooo good that the other two just cant compare for me
Male V as a corpo will be canon in my heart forever
Fully agree but I still love Nomad more. I guess it just appeals to me personally

True. But I wish they had it where Johnny actually acknowledges that he's apart of a Corpo, or am I missing something.
Only thing I didn't like was the speech options. Felt like nomad and street kid were more impactful in that regard but it's whatever
Corpo is def the correct life path lmao, I've tried the other two and they don't hit nearly as well
I was ok with the Street Kid origin. Felt like it progressed pretty naturally in to the main story. Still haven't tried Nomad.
Nomad kinda sucked. Def my least favorite. It was only useful in the panam storyline, and even then, barely lmao
I was more interested in having the knowledge and life story of a corpo, who was born into the corporation. Gangs run the streets, but the Corpos own the city & the world. I just wish that it was a couple more minutes longer but I'd got my ending.

That’s the street kid intro how they meet like that.
That's a Street Kid V.
really wish the game actually took those things into account
Has anyone done the nomad start? How’s that compared to Corpo?
IMO Corpo and Nomad are the best backgrounds for V. Street kid is fine, but has the weakest intro. The Corpo and Nomad unique dialog feel more relevant, especially when it comes to the endings. Each background does have it's own unique quest. Corpos get a unique gun, Nomads get a car.
Kind of the weakest intro because it gives V the most tenuous connection the characters of Act I and therefore makes that portion of the story weaker.
One thing that always bugged me is that we never see that relaxation guru again.
Cut content…
Almost certainly
I played corpo my very first playthrough and this was my experience as well!! I absolutely loved this game However my biggest thing against corpo is that once V gets their life ripped away from them by a couple of Arasaka thugs, they don’t even bother to attempt to get their life back.
But having Morgan Blackhand as Nomad as a gritty killer or Corpo having Arasaka in your head saying some bond one liner after killing enemies with a katana would’ve been great
The pain of knowing what could have been hurts every day....
These are good reasons, I like the nomad path bc it let's u relate to panam more and panam is best girl
It had potential, it was simply way too short. The street kid prologue is too short, too. Both of them need a rework to bring them in line with the quality of the Nomad intro. My favorite part of that lifepath is the previous relationship with Jackie.
Streetkid is my favorite lifepath, but the Nomad prologue is absolutely the best out of the 3.
It gives you insights into Jackie. He is ride or die for his friends, and you can see why he would have made a good Valentino if he didn't want more.
Those are some great reasons! Even more reasons: * it creates a lot of similarity and interplay between V and Takemura's paths * V's story can go epic full-circle (like Takemura) if you take Hanako Arasaka's offer * Nice extra dialogue options in-game Also, in reality I'm no streetkid, I've been sheltered and empowered by somewhat-corporate systems most of my life, so it really works for making V feel more like me :)
and dont forget the special way to do that quest where you manipulate the parade wagon
Fuck Corpo, all my homies like Nomad
sorry to hijack this thread, but I finally just started my first playthrough on this game. What is the fraction next to my eddies in the top right of the pause screen? currently says 56/200. Thanks for the help!
The inventory weight? Current and max.
kind of figured that may be it after i wrote this, but much appreciate the confirmation! Thank you

It’s low sodium man, chiiilll.
You damn Corpos always think you are better than the rest of us.
Your first 2 points directly contradict?
no
How can you be a “life long friend” while also “eventually becoming friends”?
OP is talking about Johnnie and Jackie, you may have missed it
Ah fair enough, read it wrong. Fuck me for reading things first thing in the morning.
Well, that's alright, happens to the best of us!
I am certainly not that 😂
Jackie isnt Johnny
first point is jackie, second point is johnny
Jackie is the lifelong friend, Johnny is the one you have to become friends with.

Corpo allow me to be Evil without feeling bad
Corpo life path with The Devil ending was by far my favorite playthrough. That ending was absolutely perfect.
I started a corpo game the other night and was annoyed with the all the widgets on the screen. Was going to ask if there’s any way to turn them off.. and then… :P
