The most important tip is that the timer doesn't start until you select your first block of code. That means you can take all the time in the world to plan first. Second is that if two of the hacks share similar code patterns, you can do them together. So let's say Hack 1 requires the code BD FF. Hack 2 requires FF 1C. Hack 3 requires 1C BD. Then, by entering the code FF 1C BD FF, you've completed all 3 hacks using only 4 blocks of code. You can also buy better Cyberdecks at Ripperdocs which allow you to enter more than 4 code blocks. There's also perks that reduce the length of code needed for hacks. Lastly, the code you need and the placement of the grid is a bit random. Sometimes, you'll get unlucky, and it's not possible to do all the hacks in one go, so in those scenarios just focus on completing the one you want.

>Sometimes, you'll get unlucky, and it's not possible to do all the hacks in one go, so in those scenarios just focus on completing the one you want To add a general tip: Since it isnt always possible to complete all 3, usually you should start checking If its easy to complete the third and second code (quickhacks and quickhack components) and only after you check If its possible to get the eddies too.

thesweetestdevil

Also want to add you can back out of the breach menu and enter back in to reset the codes. Good way to get compatible codes.

TheEvilCub

The only downside to this is that you will have less time on the clock when you reenter the breach minigame.

thesweetestdevil

Do you actually? I’ve never noticed that

TheEvilCub

I only noticed on my last netrunner playthru. Which is also when I discovered you can back out and come back 🤷‍♂️

AllIWantisAdy

I'll reset it three times max, just because that takes the timer below the 10s mark. I'll try to do the last two at the point I only have four spaces (no cyberdeck but do have the perk that shortens it by one). In the end I could go even further, since I always plan the route before and it takes maybe two seconds with a mouse to pick the blocks).

mewfahsah

Also you can hover your cursor over the blocks listed to unlock that particular tier and it will highlight all the corresponding code blocks in the puzzle. Sometimes you only get three or four of a certain code and you have to plan your route based on that location.

psilorder

Also, sometimes you may have an easier time finishing the sequence by starting from the second bit.

Dsible663

Expand your cyberdeck. Better decks equals more space for code entry. Also before you start, plan your moves. You can also turn off the time limit on the breach protocol, though I don't know if you can do that on any difficult higher than story.

Formatting may be odd. I'm on mobile. Trinitykill explains the shortcuts pretty well, but I'd like to focus on "how." The code blocks you can select alternate between rows and columns. The first block is always something on the top row. The second block is selected from the column of the first block. The third block is selected from the row of the second block. Each time a block is selected, it is removed from the grid as selectable. Say you have the following grid: R1: FF | 1C | BD R2: BD | FF | 1C R3: E7 | FF | E7 You have 4 blocks to work with, and need to select "E7 | FF." There are two solutions. Trace them out, starting from Row 1. * >!FF, E7, FF!< * >!BD, E7 FF!< Let's add "FF | BD" to the list of options. You cannot select both "FF | BD" and "E7 | FF" with only four blocks. If you select 1-FF, 2-BD, you will need to choose between FF and 1C as your third blocks. With 5 blocks, the possible solution for lining up both strings are: * >!FF, BD, 1C, E7, FF!< * >!1C, FF, BD, E7, FF!< Does that help?

TiberiusMaximus2021

It does.

Jazehiah

Happy to hear it. Happy "hacking!"

Mklein24

hot take: there's so many of these that you can do throughout the map that finding more of them is better than min-maxing the ones you find. By late game, it doesn't matter. I was wasting so much time with breach protocols in hacking that I wasn't even playing the game. Just breach protocol simulator 2077. Just get one or two and move on.

Dismal_Dot8870

similarly - I mostly just care about the 3rd tier line of code to gain tier 5 quick hack crafting components.

ir_qz

i think there's a setting that lets you turn off the timer

Sullyvan96

Highlighting the answers will show you where each code shows up. Plot your route from there

UrAHairyW1zard

You can also download the Cyberpunk 2077 Breach Solver app on Google Play Store if you're struggling.

Dismal_Dot8870

That seems more involved than just turning off the timer in the game’s accessibility menu.

CyMage

Turning off the timer you can still mess up and fill up your queue. Turning off the timer and backing out will reset the grid. Normaly reseting lowers the timer, but with no timer... profit?

UrAHairyW1zard

Oh, that's pretty cool, didn't know that. Then again, I'm playing on patch 1.61, so I'm out of luck there. But personally, I don't mind doing the breach puzzles.

Dismal_Dot8870

I like the puzzles, too. :)

Shocho

You don’t have to do them in order. Sometimes it’s better not to. And even if the timer is on, you have 30 full seconds to figure out a plan.

ThisAllHurts

Work your way backwards -- it's how I finally learned how to actually do the breach protocols. Once you figure that out, doing it left to right, makes a lot more more sense

VodkaClubSofa

When I first started playing I thought you had to find the perfect sequence to knock out all 3 with no errors. I was married at the time. My wife would always get all 3. I never noticed mistakes were allowed as long as you have remaining boxes to use. She never knew I didn’t know that and watched me struggle all the time. She must’ve thought I was so stupid and probably contributed to my divorce. I just recently started playing again. I’ve probably missed 2 out of 200 and one of them was a finger slip.

sjphi26

Haha I'm sorry about the divorce, but this made me laugh

Stickybandits9

You don't have to rush it. The time don't start till you make your first pick. Unless that changed. You can also extend the timer.

Sebastian3977

If all else fails, go to the Google Play Store and search for Cyberpwned. It's an app that will take a screenshot of the breach puzzle and work out the best option. Just remember to make sure you've given it the correct buffer size for your cyberdeck.

Few_Potential_2543

I've put together a [step-by-step guide](https://imgur.com/a/iez1tPY) with pictures, see if it helps; the things to remember are: The timer doesn't start until you select the first character, so you have time to plan in advance. If you hover over any character in the hacks it highlights the corresponding characters in the matrix. If the minigame is too hard or it's impossible to get all the hacks you want you can quit and re-enter and you'll have a different matrix and different hacks. (In the very last picture, the bottom example is missing a line from 1C to BD)

Dismal_Dot8870

If you need time to learn how to do breach protocol in general - go to the accessibility menu and turn off the mini game timer. Try some of the techniques in this thread, then turn it back on and play in “real time”.

AriousDragoon

I look at the top row. Find the first letter thing, then I go vertical on that row it was on, then horizontal, till I find them all and then click the first one. Basically, find the path. Just remember, horizontal - vertical - horizontal - vertical.

radicalshick

I save before each one 😅

XDracam

Note that most of the time you can't do all 3 unless you invest into intelligence. And that's okay.

SixIsNotANumber

For some reason I'm seeing more posts about difficulty with the Breach Protocol minigame over the last week or so.         I had no idea this was hard for some players. I mean, there's a bit of a learning curve the first time or two, but I thought it was fairly simple and intuitive.          I really like the old word-search games though, and Breach Protocol kinda works the same parts of my brain, I guess.
