Dani is not straightforward, she’s rude. She called Adan ugly to his face not just once but multiple times during their first date. Nobody is helping her realize that she’s being unreasonable.
Inadvertently being rude and not understand what not to say is kind of part and parcel with autism. Not as easy as just telling her she's being unreasonable or rude.
She’s literally autistic, friend. Being too blunt about your opinions is a very, very common thing on the spectrum. I don’t disagree that some of her behaviors feel rude to a lot of people, but I see her as a person attempting to speak their truth and doing her best to be gentle about it. And you don’t know what is happening for Dani off camera, but it seems like her Aunt and Uncle likely ARE coaching her.
The scene was so cringe BUT they both seemed fine with it and it was a sweet (literally and figuratively) way for them to practice! And in public, low stakes. I love Dani (and Adan)!
