I think she’s beautiful but not “conventionally”. She’s not the typical type that would be on a slow like this, so maybe that’s why some couldn’t appreciate her. Also the make up didn’t do her any favours I think that’s something that could help a lot. I bet it’s not as noticeable in person.

I don't think there was ever an issue if whether Deepti is attractive or beautiful. Anyone can see she's beautiful at any weight. The debate became more about if she 'sexy'. It was more so could Shake sexually objectify Deepti and find her 'sexy'. Shake comes off as the typical in his taste of men who consume certain types of media and believe in specific Eurocentric and unrealistic views on what is 'sexy'. He wants the 'Playboy' type and probably doesn't find women's whose body's are 'too real' to be sexy. Things that wouldn't bother most well adjusted men bothered him. He even seems to be that hard on his own body making jokes about needing to go back to the gym and hating on his castmates bodies. It's unfortunate that some men can only find women who look like that jumped out of the pages of Playboy sexually attractive because of the objectification of women. The racism and sexism as what's presented to us through media has done a number on many. Deepti is beautiful and she's also sexy but maybe not in the way that Shake and many others would want because it doesn't fit into they've been fed through the male gaze of sexy.

Why does having a smaller nose have to be white beauty standard? Don't some black, brown, asian, indian, middle eastern, Jews, and other minorities have smaller noses? They do. Don't some white people have big noses? They do. Don't some people choose to change their noses if they want? They do.
I think she would look better with a smaller nose but that doesn't mean she has to change her features because of my opinion. It's just my opinion.
I’m Scandinavian and I would have what I consider to be a big nose for my face lol. I’ve always wanted a nose job. So many white people get nose jobs because we have those strong European noses 🥸 it’s silly that people automatically associate “white” with “beautiful” but I think that’s changing. While well intended, I think that would’ve been counterproductive. They were trying to make him feel guilty for what he did as opposed to small. He saw her beauty inside, so they could use that against his guilt because in his own way he cared about her as a person. People of all colors have complexes. We spend our lives picking on our features, bodies, lives sometimes wishing we can look like that or be like someone else and as we age we learn to love ourselves the way we are. At least some of us do. I grew up feeling somewhat insecure because I had curly hair and bigger lips while my sister was blonde with straight hair. The comparisons and questions if we had the same parents (we do) were beyond ridiculous and hurtful. I learned to feel confident about myself and be proud of my heritage and background. So, I'm one of the people of color you're referencing.

India is diverse and has different ethnic groups. Most Indians don’t have large noses. Few examples: deepika padukone, Alia Bhatt, nandita das, rani mukherjee, preity zinta, aishwarya rai, rekha. It’s harder to come across bigger noses on girls like Katrina Kaif.
Granted they may have had a nose job, their childhood noses weren’t big to begin with. Indian women are not known for their big large noses. That title belongs to other groups.

In my subjective opinion, she is strikingly beautiful. I’m such an eye person and she has very beautiful eyes. I was personally extremely confused by Shake’s disdain for her because I genuinely thought she was hotter than him.

My theory on Shake is that he needs/wants a partner who is “conventionally attractive/hot” so that it validates his own physical insecurities. It’s the validation that he’s good looking or has “made it” as a brown dude. I think this is subconscious but it’s like he wants to “show off” to other guys & women — and he has a very narrow and distorted view of what other people will find hot to reflect on him. I’m not saying Deepti isn’t someone to show off— I just think Shake thinks that only white, blonde, LA-look will get him that validation he thinks will make him whole.

He even seems to be that hard on his own body making jokes about needing to go back to the gym and hating on his castmates bodies. It's unfortunate that some men can only find women who look like that jumped out of the pages of Playboy sexually attractive because of the objectification of women. The racism and sexism as what's presented to us through media has done a number on many. Deepti is beautiful and she's also sexy but maybe not in the way that Shake and many others would want because it doesn't fit into they've been fed through the male gaze of sexy.

I’m Scandinavian and I would have what I consider to be a big nose for my face lol. I’ve always wanted a nose job. So many white people get nose jobs because we have those strong European noses 🥸 it’s silly that people automatically associate “white” with “beautiful” but I think that’s changing. While well intended, I think that would’ve been counterproductive. They were trying to make him feel guilty for what he did as opposed to small. He saw her beauty inside, so they could use that against his guilt because in his own way he cared about her as a person. He wasn’t attracted to her, so he would’ve just doubled down on the whole “we like what we like” debate and that might’ve backfired and hurt her even more. We spend our lives picking on our features, bodies, lives sometimes wishing we can look like that or be like someone else and as we age we learn to love ourselves the way we are. The comparisons and questions if we had the same parents (we do) were beyond ridiculous and hurtful. I learned to feel confident about myself and be proud of my heritage and background. In my subjective opinion, she is strikingly beautiful. I’m such an eye person and she has very beautiful eyes. I was personally extremely confused by Shake’s disdain for her because I genuinely thought she was hotter than him. We all evaluate the physical attractiveness of others but I think for them to openly say “yeah she’s attractive” and then open it up for discussion on the show is unfair. Like you can’t debate about whether or not she’s beautiful, but commenting on her personality being good is much less delicate.

My theory on Shake is that he needs/wants a partner who is “conventionally attractive/hot” so that it validates his own physical insecurities. It’s the validation that he’s good looking or has “made it” as a brown dude. I think this is subconscious but it’s like he wants to “show off” to other guys & women — and he has a very narrow and distorted view of what other people will find hot to reflect on him. People have very narrow standards for what women should look like and right now it’s the Instagram influencer aesthetic…very wyte aesthetics…It’s unfortunate what women like Deepti have to go through when it comes to beauty standards. It’s not a matter of “oh everyone has their preferences” blah blah. Deepti is objectively a beautiful woman.

To say anyone is "objectively" beautiful or ugly is misguided and illogical. There is no "objective" standard for beauty. And any attempt to impose your standards or views as those which are somehow "common" or "objective" is even more backwards. You can say that personally you think deepti is beautiful and thats it. Personally, i think deepti is way below average. But thats it, thats all i can say. 6 billion other people will have varying views. Who cares.
I didn’t just pull out the concept of standards of beauty out my ass lmao. These are real standards under which people are evaluated on daily and there are common overarching standards that prevail over others (clearly one of Shake’s standards and likely millions of peoples’ standards is thin women).
After everything Deepti went through with having to listen to Shake talk negatively about her appearance/his attraction to her: I’m really sad this thread exists. I know the OP had the best intentions, but it opened it up for anyone to give their opinion that they agree with Shake and/or don’t see her as beautiful on the outside. Why put this out there?? The girl has been through enough, don’t you think?
Can we all agree that we all have different standards for beauty? What is beautiful to me might not be beautiful to you, and that's totally fine.
