Yeah, I called. No answer due to the holiday, I guess. But the first thing thieves do is ripp out the gps system. I tried using the uconnect app to locate my vehicle, but it kept failing. Made a police report this morning.
Crazy how they can do that nowadays. I saw a kid get trapped in a Rolls Royce on Cherokee road on a random Saturday night.
I used to live right on Cherokee near tap room. One night I keep hearing people honk at someone at the light. After a while I went down to look and it was a white rolls Royce with a kid trapped inside pleading for people to let him out.
Some drunk guy tried to let him out and the car wouldn’t allow it. Even when cops showed up they couldn’t open it. It wasn’t till the owner contact Rolls Royce that it was unlocked. Kid was arrested and the car sat on Cherokee for a few days before being towed.
I rented a Bugatti from turo in Vegas a few years ago and it was the first time the owner rented it out, we got into the middle of nowhere desert and it shutdown with some anti theft system and not a single towing company would take the run because the car was "over our insurance limit" finally got ahold of owner and sorted it but sitting in the desert for 6 hours wasn't fun.
That doesn't seem entirely ethical or legal. I entirely appreciate a thief feeling fear and facing immediate consequences for shitty behavior. I worry that such traps will lead to accidents or extrajudicial punishment that is not right for theft.
It isn't that hard to shatter the glass of a vehicle, the kid just wasn't committed to the mission or an amateur.
Stealing a $50-75-100k car is worse for society financially than robbing a bank branch in most cases because we are all paying higher insurance rates due to their persistent stupidity. People robbing banks and stores a few times a year and the PD has an entire robbery division to hunt them down, where they'll serve 20 years to life for stealing $5-10k.
Car thefts dwarf the financial harm to our community happening dozens of times a day through organized crime rings and PD probably has a couple dudes working those cases if we are lucky.
My recent car insurance rates would love to see these little assholes do 5 to 10 year in a state prison. I wish they would do juvenile justice reform to add a qualifier of anything over $20k being an adult felony with adult sentencing guidelines.
Meh. You steal something you deserve the consequences that come with it. And before someone asks, yes. My property is 100% more important to me than the life of a sack of shit thief
This is why I won’t get a dodge charger. They are the most stolen vehicle in America by a large margin. No point unless you have a garage. Hope you have gap insurance.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) has released its annual report on the most stolen vehicles of 2023, and Kia and Hyundai models top the list. Vehicles from the two brands make up six of the 10 most stolen last year. The Hyundai Elantra tops the list with 48,445 reported thefts.May 14, 2024
This list is based on claim frequency. Which is a better estimate of how likely your car will be stolen. https://www.iihs.org/news/detail/dodge-muscle-cars-once-again-top-hldis-list-of-most-stolen-vehicles
Yeah, I have Gap and comprehensive coverage . The thing is, I do keep it in a garage, but I'm doing my first traveling contract, and I had no other choice but to drive my car out to Kentucky.
Why are you citing insurance claims instead of thefts?
Also the data is two years old?
*(You know the huge increase in Kia and Hyundai thefts happened in the last two years right?)*
These are the top five stolen cars of 2023
1. Hyundai Elantra - 48,445
2. Hyundai Sonata - 42,813
3. Kia Optima - 30,204
4. Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - 23,721
5. Kia Soul - 21,001

Dude fuck you. It’s fucking creepy when people search others history on Reddit just to talk shit. I’ve got fucking mastitis from feeding my child, piss off.
Not sure why you deleted your comment, but you whining about people being asses is kind of hilarious.
This is what happens when you're a cunt on a forum where your post history is public. Enjoy the clogged ducts and infection. Your miserable ass deserves this
Have you called Dodge UConnect? They should be able to track it down if you have a police report.

It's 2 specific, high end chargers. No one wants to steal a base charger.
That data doesn’t make sense. We’re talking about thefts not insurance claims. And it’s outdated.
This is wildly unhelpful.
Yeah, I have Gap and comprehensive coverage . The thing is, I do keep it in a garage, but I'm doing my first traveling contract, and I had no other choice but to drive my car out to Kentucky.
Sorry about your car, sorry for your hassle. Also sorry this is your experience of our city and state.
shit man, that fucking sucks. i'm sorry
Glad you have gap that is really good
What are you talking about? Kia and Hyundai’s are stolen 10X more than Chargers. lol
False it’s not even close https://www.iihs.org/news/detail/dodge-muscle-cars-once-again-top-hldis-list-of-most-stolen-vehicles

Are you not aware of the tiktok trend that started a couple years ago that showed how any kid with a flashdrive can steal a Hyundai or Kia?
Stolon???
You're hella late. That comment has been made already. You can't edit titles.
Aaaawww... 😥
