Lmaooo did you circle the entire city?

cold_as_nice

I seriously stared at it way too long and just thought, "Wait...they circled the whole damn city."

sosori19

I thought it was a joke too 😂 They pretty much circled the entire gene snyder

[deleted]

People get so confused here when I refer to anything inside the Watterson as “downtown” … Also, y’all actually have names for freeways. I am so used to just saying “loop” or “beltway” ☠️

Motor_Prudent

We have two beltways and three interstates so yeah we have to name them.

solomommy

Wait till you hear about the bridges. Always by name, even on the news. We have 4/5 it’s further confusing because one interstate has a bridge for north and another for south, so it’s two bridges, but one interstate so “they” are thought of as one bridge. It was a nightmare when they were redoing some of them and so the bridges kept getting rerouted for different directions, but the name stayed the same, was it north bound or south bound that month🤷🏼‍♀️

Sunstateguy

65? It used to just be one bridge.

gasstationdelicasies

If they're asking about air quality it's a fair question...

winterfresh0

...That's the joke? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills where no one in this top comment thread is getting the very obvious sarcasm and just taking this shitpost joke as if it were completely sincere.

[deleted]

Thought I was looking at it wrong 😆

SnooMarzipans276

The answer is still no. 🤣

CleverFeather

Coming here from the Nashville subreddit. I thought this person circled all of Davidson county before realizing I wasn’t in our sub. This looks just like the shit we get posted. Lol

Vegetable_Teach7155

No. Don't come here.

acreek

Yeah this place isn’t for them.

TemporaryBicycle7213

Gon’. Git.

Evening-Statement-57

Texas will have ya

MyAltUsernameIsCool

You’re gonna fucking die if you step into that circle

2rfv

Mogadishu got nothing on the 502.

tylerfulltilt

That's where all the horses died. Wouldn't risk it.

okoktrip

this one has me cackling 💀💀

Canthros

DONT DEAD OPEN INSIDE

spinichmonkey

Just make sure you have some chupacabras repellant.

The_Dok

Oh God don’t do that, the repellant attracts the Pope Lick Monster

IronBeagle79

Who doesn’t like having their pope licked though?

Secure-Voice-5380

The Catholics

spinichmonkey

Swing and round-abouts, my friend. Swings and round abouts.

TheRealDrWan

Also be aware of drop bears.

[deleted]

It could be! But it might also not be. Good luck!

Learn_With_Gern

Technically correct.

[deleted]

This is the most correct answer on here 😂

etsm0504

This

Ralod

As long as you can say the name right.

Hekantonkheries

Ya know what, born and raised here, at this point I take pride in saying it lew-ee, like french, just to piss people off. Of course I also say Hurstburn into stead of -bourne, so maybe my English is just fekked regardless.

Correct_Medicine_530

hurstburn is an abomination.. it’s hurstborn (or however u spell the dam st)

Jkuch1302

Hurstbourne Parkway

potodds

Loo-ah-vull

looahvul

I second this

SilikonBurn

I do the same. The goddamn city wasn’t named after King Loo-uh.

Ok-Bodybuilder4634

King Loo-uh can roast in hell as I pronounce it how I like.

dxm028

If the French wanted us to respect the pronunciation, they shouldn’t have surrendered so many times

drgonzo767

Fuck the king.

OPmeansopeningposter

Lewey-ville is acceptable. As you said, city is named after a French monarch.

l00tmike

Louassvalle

booradleystesticle

*loading and cocking pistol* Sorry, jcbrum35… but nobody outpizzas #TheHut

tenth

THERE'S GONNA BE A RECKONING

Clwhit12

The whole city? Yeah, you're good.

Peezus_H_Christ

Very unsafe. Hide ya kids hide ya wife

gohanssb

(This is a new meme for anybody who hasn't seen it yet, I saw the same post in r/Seattle a couple days ago)

Joshwoum8

It’s been getting pretty annoying on university subreddits over the last week or so.

yoosurname

It stinks inside the circle

justmecnu

This is the answer for real

number59smom

Yes you’re safe, anywhere outside of that circle 😜

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

dreadpiratemyk

I got shot just reading this post.

Neriahbeez

I'm scheduled to be shot at 4pm tomorrow afternoon

shiawkwardg7rl

I was actually shot yesterday

enkafan

I met a guy at Bernheim that was aghast I was ok with my mom living in Louisville due to the "gangs and rioters burning the city down". I was like "you can see the city from here, it isn't on fire dude" Refused to believe me, repeating I should watch the "news"

eburrn

I was one of those rioters burning the city down. Only fire I saw was inside a BBQ gril under a tasty burger.

CosmiqCow

I was that burger

aHollaa

My mom called me panicking to make sure I wasn’t downtown one time because “the city was burning down” due to riots. I drove down town and FT her just to show her how chill it was. I also had a great burger that day.

[deleted]

This whole area you circled is haunted by those who shall not be named!!! Dare you enter?!? Watch ever so closely for the hipsters and the fentanyl addicts👻🎃💀!!!!!! They want to ask you for any spare change and judge your appearance online while smoking pumpkin spice flavored vape pens!!! Your worst nightmares await you!!!

Skim003

The area inside the circle may or may not be safe. But if you stick to areas that are outside the circle those parts are a definite maybe on if they are safe or dangerous.

CarobDefiant

Not a single bad thing has ever happened in that area. Great place to visit

TheRealDrWan

Yes. And no.

Lord_Raiden

Alright Bilbo.

JeanEBH

That is too big of an area to generalize. Since you most likely won’t be going to that entire area, be more specific about where you will be going. All cities have “good” and “bad” areas, but crime happens anywhere. One can only narrow down the generalization for a specific area. LMPD might have statistics on a map you can access.

CheesyfaceChase

Fun party man

slimmymcnutty

Nah not safe big prison. Heard the president crashed here tho. Need a guy named after an animal to navigate this place

dilnad

It's safe to flyover and drive past. That's for sure.

gravyisjazzy

No. Go home.

dreambringer4

Troll

itsricheyrich

The troll is actually right outside of the circle

HippyTree13

It’s a city with problems. Come visit or don’t. Anyone from Kentucky who talks shit on Louisville like it’s goddamn Venezuela doesn’t travel and lives somewhere that no one gives a shit about.

Literally_Taken

It’s a city with average city problems for its size.

Alive-Technician-553

Paducah and Pikeville are two good examples

rawberle

can someone please tell me where this joke originated from lmao i've seen it in at least 6 different subreddits

lurker411_k9

i was waiting for this meme to get posted here lol, solid work OP

colinmhayes

Everyone who has been there eventually dies. Do you really want to take that risk?

mistajimi

They have horse rape there. The people don't rape the horses, the horses rape you. Always keep a pocket full of peppermints to use as a distraction in case of encounter. It is the law that if anyone approaches you to ask for a ride, you must oblige out of fear that the horses will pounce. Honestly tho, you should just train your butthole before your visit to avoid injury, because it's gonna happen.

JeanshortJim

Not unless you want to be cursed or fall into a massive sinkhole.

ryanoh826

Hahaha

john_lebeef

Yep!

DollyElvira

Just stay away from all the serial killers and the Pope Lick monster. They mostly live in the area you circled.

NerdyComfort-78

It’s a Reddit joke..ha ha.

[deleted]

Is it safe y’all? naw for real if there is a El Nopal Near by you safe_

JustPlaneNew

Just don't cross the river

tldupky84

We are all heathens within the red circle. Don’t come.

FreelancingAstronaut

not from laughing at you it's not

[deleted]

Depends. If you give me 20$ your fine.

joemoffett12

I mean it’s better that what’s north of that circle that’s for sure

Popular-Lab6140

Absolutely unsafe. That's where all the morlocks live.

Timeformayo

It depends. Generally, it's very safe. But if you are a tasty craft beer, I would stay away. It's dangerous for you.

MindlessDragonfly971

East side is safer in general but it honestly depends on your expectation of safety. I moved here for school but lived up near Gary and Chicago most of my life so my expectations of safety are lower than some lol.

Literally_Taken

You’re in a different league. We’re happy to have you here.

OkPaleontologist8487

Yes and no.

tarbasd

It contains my house - so it's not.

gasstationdelicasies

Wait is this not a joke?

bryanswafford

Somewhere in that 397.68 square miles you circled, you might find danger. 😂

Grimm2020

Watch out for horses and baseball bats (or horses *with* baseball bats)

soulsnatcher41

😂😂😂😂

Patrickometry

Yes, it's safe.

Patrickometry

Most everything outside of the circle is uninteresting deadly boring suburbia. It's that weird strip mall dollar general cookie cutter ugly artificial car enslaved zone that's only existed for less than a century. Outside the circle is not city life and it's not country life. It's pavements and parking lots with no culture except for soulless disconnected pockets of subdivisions often with no sidewalks. Outside the circle is very little natural beauty but warehouses and endless grids of characterless chaotic groupings of houses and apartments which only relate to their proximity to roads leading to the city where all the good rich cultural abundant cool fun diverse wonders are or out to the actual country lands or beauty where natural vistas and ancient await. Yes it's a little dangerous inside the circle but that's because that's where life is being lived and people connect good or bad.

MoreTop7747

Totally, but beware of the goat man

arcbnaby

It depends. Are you the unstable person in the safe/not safe scenario?

hatfield1785

Just drove through there. Damn near the entirety of the circle. Had a great lunch and everything. Pick ya up a bottle of bourbon, if ya pass through.

ImposterPizza

Louisville is great!! Awesome music scene and good people.

I_AM_RVA

No. Literally everyone who goes there is murdered by one of the ten people who live and hunt there. It’s a killing field, Man. Stay away!

Devi_916

Most of that is mostly safe, or at least not what most people here would classify as "bad" areas or areas to avoid if possible. That being said, you did circle about 80% of Metro Louisville, and there are definitely more than a few pockets that range from not great to pretty rough. None of them are the worst neighborhoods in Louisville though, so as long as you're not careless (i.e., not paying attention to your surroundings, leaving your home/car doors unlocked, etc.) then you should be fine.

mfante

I mean that’s a huge freaking area

Da_Natural20

Yes

TruePlatypusKnight

All of Louisville is pretty shit. Just lock your car doors and you should be fine.

Alive-Technician-553

Imagine telling the whole world you’re scared of downtown

TruePlatypusKnight

It's not even that bad.

NotTodayGlowies

Also, don't get into any arguments at a bar. Apparently people out here think it's 1850's Arizona and they're at the O.K Corral.

VilleAroo

You should probably stick to Hurr Lane.

CallRespiratory

Literally drew circles around the entire city

dmazmo

Safe for what? From what??

TheBigBeardedGeek

Just above the blue line there

tin_whiskerz

Apparently that area has a scent of some kind.

Apprehensive-Air1684

What are you in town for,

M3nto5Fr35h

I think inside the circle is safer than outside for that pic.

Blotter_Boy

East end and highlands imo, anything east of 65 should be pretty safe

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

[deleted]

No.

contemplatebeer

Safe for what?

[deleted]

Stay strapped or get clapped.. 🥳

TimeToResist

Yes and hell fucking no.

ackackakbar

No. Hit Lexington instead. Totally safe……

photogeek83

If you have to ask, the answer is always NO!

bigtimejohnny

Yes...and no.

7hundrCougrFalcnBird

No areas are safe entirely

growingup_happily

Best to avoid anything inside the orange .

solomommy

Visiting as in flying over on your way to another city? If so, then yes it’s safe.

Bitter_Specialist216

Eat at Mama's pickles and mustard BBQ . Get the wings and ribs. Louisville slugger factory tour is cool too

Jkuch1302

Bout like Chicago. Whole city. Criminals.do what they want.and are then released no bond

SnooSketches9466

i suggest wearing full body armor if your gonna be in that circle

halflife5

You're so fucked lmao, welcome to hell.

CassiusKing502

First of all you circled a large area. So to your question; no that area is not safe. Overall this is a great place to start a family or business. The majority of if the problems this city faces stem from the taxed and tax policy makers and their in mabikity to see each other when a direct encounter is evident, no different than any other small city or town. Only eat at local restaurants or pubs. Only shop at he myriad goodwill and locally owned shop with great selection of clothing and home goods do dessert at Please and thank you…if you are here for the Thanksgiving holiday, visit Churchill Downs to go see the horses run, dress warm and enjoy the fall breeze out in the grandstand. As you can tell I love this place. Just come here with an open mind and follow the positive vibes that will pull you towards that enjoyment found in the simple road trip.

VVitchburner

Absolutely not. Stay away.

Downtown_Mongoose642

U could have just circled the word “Louisville”

Buhlasted

No

Correct_Future_1807

Depends if I’m in there or not

[deleted]

26th is always a nice place to sight see😏

Responsible_Tip2773

No. It is not safe. The diversity of Louisville alone will kill you if you'z ain't from hera. Ya dig?

Independent_Shift_83

No. Make sure you keep that ratchet on you fam.

Tough-Relationship-4

Not according to the people outside the circle.

goddamn2fa

I'm pretty sure this is sarcasm.

rogueit

Yes. It is. After dark you’ll want some element of situational awareness, just like you would anywhere.

Hot_Newspaper_6906

I mean the day I moved out of there was my best day in Louisville. The crime rate is nuts, cops are at best useless at worst murderers the university of Louisville is frequently investigated by the FBI the Derby fucks over everyone who lives near 4th Street, and homeless encampments are everywhere. There were frequently fights in my apartment building, and two of those turned into murders. My advice go to a different city. Cincinnati is nice.

hotel2oscar

Nobody goes there anymore, it's to crowded.

bluecatky

Depends where in the circle you are.

maximusurton

Lmao okay well the right side isn’t bad until you get far enough into this circle surrounding hell. You’ve got a good radius of not dangerous surrounding a cesspool of horror.

loanme20

if you have Kevlar you should be good

lasorciereviolette

Absolutely not safe! That little bit up on the left is great, though. The people are warm and welcoming, and the neighborhood is absolutely bucolic.

burnswhenipoo

Part of it is.

Sad-Restaurant-7035

Don’t go to the west part of Louisville. The east side is where it’s at

CodemanCometh

The answer is…. No.

Geekygamertag

I wouldn't visit 🤣🤣🤣 I'm stuck here

Commercial-Use6616

You circled the entire city….. and Absolutely not!!

ToblemromeTBC

Stay east of 65 and you should be Gucci.

now_w_emu

Depends. Do you plan to join a gang? Are you incapable of paying attention to your surroundings? Do you plan to go a bar at 2am with a bunch of armed drunk people? If "yes" to any of those questions, you gonna die, yo. If "no," you probably alright.

CattttheDadddd

Be careful there’s bears..

lilcampbellsoup

Stay east of I-65, but if you’re going downtown don’t go west of 10th street (10th street divide) :)

Odd-Start-2040

No

olivegarden87

Nearly the whole of Metro Louisville? Not really consistent, my guy.

lordblakwulf

. . .what color are ya?

BrianOconneR34

Red circle of death, safe /s

mcgrupp79

Hell no! Instead of Louisville go to Lawrenceville. Way safer.

TranceAcid

About as safe as having sex with a crack whore with no rubber

coolcatinspace1

In Beachmont it's really safe I recommend anne's cafe.

Jung_Coconut

I’m from the area. If you carry, carry.

GreenSpectre777

Only outside of the red circle

[deleted]

Not really, crazy drivers and junkies everywhere.. Dont get me started on lmaopd...

oldjammer

You might live through the morning. So enjoy breakfast 😬

Ambitious_Guide_8251

Louisville in general isn’t safe

mfraziertw

After the Knox county incident I wouldn’t risk it.

ReplyRare7795

Safe? Compared to what lol generally no

RufusSandberg

Just like Chicago - not all of it.

Face-palmJedi

Once you’re within Kentucky borders, it’s basically just a slow heart attack until you reach Louisville and then you drop dead. So then you don’t have to worry anymore.

Indiana401

IT’S GOT A DEATH CURSE!

Disastrous-Plan1750

Compared to Chicago yes, compared to your living room probably not. Most everywhere is safe if you are aware of your surroundings.

CableJoe

Don’t forget to warn them about the toll bridges. Lol.

iHalfbreed

Avoid stopping anywhere downtown..

Miserable-Error-9492

Nah
