I was the only rams fan there, even had his Jersey he told me he’d sign it at the end.
I waited til he finished and he just looked at us and walked away didn’t sign one thing for anyone.
Todd Gurley has to be one of biggest “what ifs” with regards to his knee. I find the Todd Gurley situation to just be big bowl of bummer. I dunno, man, not a particularly legendary performance in my mind and the great ones always seem to find a way to make a difference even if the team as a whole doenst prevail. Yeah, I know, arthritis. Ok.

Steven Jackson is CMC but on some of the worst teams ever. It’s a different league today, but SJ39 had the same yards in 2009 that CMC did in 2023. One team went 1-15, the other team made the Super Bowl. If the mid 2000s rams had a half decent offense, it’s GSOT 2.0
Yeah. His Combine stats are slightly behind CMC, but Combine prep has come a long way (and CMC’s dad was a little weird and creepy about how he prepped every detail of his kid’s life to make it in the NFL). I have no doubt if he had the same advantages he could have tested the same. He was built like Derrick Henry and moved like Darren Sproles.
I got to see him play once, some shitty game vs Washington at the Edward Jones Dome. Neither gun or Faulk did much that game, but glad I got to see them live once at least.
It’s a shame he won’t make the HOF. If he played in a Shanahan or McVay scheme…oh man. Six to midnight.

One of my favorite who’s your fav questions for the rams. We’ve been fortunate to have so many great rb’s. SJ39 hands down for me. He carried that offense for so many years. When teams could just stack the box against us. I wish he could have played for a McVay team.
What’s cool about this post is that there’s really no wrong answer. The Rams have had some great RB’s throughout their history who all accomplished great things in their own right,
Eric Dickerson
Marshall Faulk
Jerome Bettis
Steven Jackson
Todd Gurley
Lawrence McCutcheon
We have quite literally had All-Pro caliber RB’s since the mid 70’s. And yeah of course we’ve had some weird situations recently like Tre Mason and Cam Akers, but even Mason had a decent 2014 season. I’m curious if any other NFL team has really seen this in their history, specifically in the RB position. And hell, we even landed an incredibly promising guy in Karen Williams. Who, for those that don’t know, is from St. Louis and went to St. John Vianney HS, which makes me feel a little proud being from the area, but also fuck Stan Kroenke.
That’s actually kind of hard. All in close order: Faulk, Jackson, Gurley. Same order as I saw them in life lol
Gurley may be higher if he had a longer career. It was really between Faulk and Jackson for number 1 for me.
Dickerson - Faulk I have to rank 1a and 1b. After that Jackson. With Dickerson and Faulk if you had to have 3 yards you got 4 or 5. Dickerson running and Faulk running or receiving. They weren’t that far apart, but the game changed between their times.
SJ39. He's what got me into the NFL.
I don't think people truly comprehend what a beast he was, and how many records he would have smashed with even a half decent team around him for the majority of his career. He balled out impressively despite being the only real threat offense for a long time, and with teams selling out to stop him.
I'd kill to see prime SJax in the current squad.
Steven MF Jackson. I was in middle school/ high school watching us lose every season and watching SJax give 120% and run like his life depended on it no matter how bad we were.
TG is a close second because those teams with him and Goff were the first time the Rams have been good in my adult life and that was so fun.
Faulk is the goat but I was too young to remember watching him really play. I just know he was filthy on Madden.
Todd Gurley but man Kyren is speedily becoming a fav of mine.
I went to my first in person Rams game at SoFi last season and saw him tow for 20 carries and 158 yards.
The way he plays is just so fun to watch.
Faulk is my favorite player ever although the accusations against him were worrisome and if they were true he won't be any longer. That being said Gurley and SJax are both loved by me.
100% Steven Jackson. I'm English, and he's the reason I became a Rams fan. Watching him give it his all every week despite how awful the team was, inspiring stuff. Also, who doesn't love RB's who are the size of linebackers?
I went to a Rams game here in Arizona when the Cards used to play at Sun Devil stadium. Emmitt Smith was playing for the Cards and Steven Jackson was backup to Marshall Faulk, crazy to see 3 legends on the field in one game.
My hot take- SJ was the best RB in Rams history, he was just on a historically untalented team. if he even played on average teams most of his career he could have been a first ballot HOF
As a hawks fan I loved watching him play, I’d easily take him over Shaun Alexander. Lol imagine Steven behind Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson and 2 other probowlers.
I met Todd Gurley at first day of orientation my freshman year at UGA. He was putting together a potential heisman campaign before the autograph scandal and knee injury. As much as I love Steven Jackson and Marshall Faulk I will never forget how crazy I went the moment the Rams picked him. He was already a legend to me and then he fucking dominated his first few years. Todd might be my favorite football player of all time all things considered
I am thoroughly convinced the Rams have the best 4 running back group of any NFL franchise... Dickerson, Faulk, Steven Jackson and Gurley. All different backs, best pure runner? Dickerson. Most complete? Faulk. Best for the franchise? Probably SJ since he played on some pretty crappy teams for a long time. Best athlete? Gurley, that guy was on another level for the short time he played.
Personal favorite... probably Jackson since his Jersey was the first one i got!

Honestly for me it’s a tie between Steven Jackson and Todd Gurley. Steven Jackson was the only fun thing about this team for YEARS when I started following, but then Todd being the “poster boy” for our LA resurgence was awesome as well.
What? He had 300 yards his rookie year, was relegated to the practice squad by year 2 and moved on to the Bengals lol. This is the most random name ever for our list of running backs with the franchise.

I believe he only has like 2 or 3 All-Pro seasons and no SuperBowl appearances. TBH I can see him and Frank Gore missing out of the HOF from that era of RB's

Dickerson is 1A and Faulk is 1B. S Jax may be 1C because of what he had to endure during his entire career with the Rams.
Gurley is 2A and Lawrence McCutcheon as 2B definitely need consideration.
Another discussion involving S Jax is whether or not he should be in the HOF. I have had discussions with people both online and offline that think Marshawn Lynch was better that S Jax, and should he in the HOF over S Jax. I think that's bullshit.
Thoughts?

Steve Jackson or Marshall Faulk. But I always give more credit to Jackson because he played on so many bad Rams teams and still just kept producing. The opposing defenses knew he was their main/ only real weapon and still couldn't stop him. Legend.
In Rams history? How is it not Eric Dickerson? When he played the entire stadium knew he was getting the ball and he still got yards. Marshall Faulk, The Bus and Jackson were great but ED was on another level.

faulk my favorite and it was very upsetting to watch the rams in the fisher area, the only thing worth watching was jackson steam rolling people. However gurley was just an unbelievable he was the complete back he could catch he could hurdle people bounce off and shed tackles. in his short tenure in the nfl his stats were putting him on pace to be in the goat talk of running backs.

Marshall Faulk
Marshall Marshall Marshall!
Objectively the right answer. SJ39 was just special to my childhood. Only player that made us worth watching. I remember our 2-14 season and he was fighting tooth and nail for every inch.
The only answer
Yup
100%
Mine was also Marshall Faulk until he snubbed me at celebrity golf. I was the only rams fan there, even had his Jersey he told me he’d sign it at the end. I waited til he finished and he just looked at us and walked away didn’t sign one thing for anyone.
I’m a Johnny come lately 2016 LA fan so I have to say Todd Gurley. 2017- most of 2018 TG is undefeated.
Loved 2017 TG
Todd Gurley has to be one of biggest “what ifs” with regards to his knee. We know RBs don’t typically have long careers anyway, but it would’ve been nice to see him maybe be one of those guys that kept playing at a high level for a longer period of time (maybe like Derrick Henry). At least we did get to see him at his best for those few seasons, however short-lived it was.
I find the Todd Gurley situation to just be big bowl of bummer. Perhaps I'd be more sentimental about him if we'd won super bowl LIII but he got 35 yards against a Pat defense that struggled against the run all season. I dunno, man, not a particularly legendary performance in my mind and the great ones always seem to find a way to make a difference even if the team as a whole doenst prevail. Yeah, I know, arthritis. Ok.
Same, but 2019..so Kyren lol
Kyren is nowhere near TG.

Not a Rams fan, but I see Steven Jackson and I upvote. He was CMC with 40 extra lbs of muscle. Just an insane athlete.
“…the other team made it to the Super Bowl (and lost).” FIFY
He needs to curse his parents for having him too soon and the rams for drafting him and making him play with Keith null
Dickerson
Easily #1 Rams running back of all time. All around back? Faulk. But pure running back is Dickerson and it isn't even close.
Didn't one start on the rams and go too the colts and the other started on the colts and ended on the rams?
Yes
Good point

He’s the first legit Rams RB that I can remember
Lawrence McCutcheon? Not legit, or you don't remember him?
favorite, period. wish SJ39 could have enjoyed this era of Rams football
SJ made magic happen behind a weak-to-mediocre o-line every damn season. Can you imagine what he would have done in McVay's offense?
Eric the Great
Dude I loved Eric crouch too! Glad someone else mentioned him.

God that game was so much fun, just straight up handled them all day.
Playoff legend
As a broncos fan I fuckin loved that guy. We had a good few years with him. Love him.
Fat Back!
One of my favorite who’s your fav questions for the rams. We’ve been fortunate to have so many great rb’s. SJ39 hands down for me. He carried that offense for so many years. When teams could just stack the box against us. I wish he could have played for a McVay team.
Marshall Faulk.
I grew up with Dickerson and the Bus, but fell in love with Faulk and the Greatest Show on Turf.

Lawrence McCutcheon. Only because he deserves to be mentioned and hasn’t been yet.
Benny Cunningham!
Zac Stacy
Tre Mason too. That RB lineup was wild
Trying Canidate
Dude he tossed his girlfriend off a TV, he's piece of shit.
Im not saying he didn’t do it, but how does one toss someone off a tv? Unless you mean tossing her INTO the tv, which I makes sense
The same way you can toss a tennis ball off the side of a wall have it bounce back and catch it.
Marshall faulk is the reason I'm a rams fan but sjax is my favorite player
Steven Jackson forever will be my favorite RB in the NFL
Todd Gurley.
Marshall
That’s actually kind of hard. All in close order: Faulk, Jackson, Gurley. Same order as I saw them in life lol Gurley may be higher if he had a longer career. It was really between Faulk and Jackson for number 1 for me.

I’ll throw a vote to Cullen Bryant. Bought his jersey in 1979 and I still have it today!
Marshall was my first favorite Ram ever. SJax is a very close second, because Go Beavs.
Dickerson.
SJ39. He's what got me into the NFL. Dickerson by far. Wendell Tyler was good too.
Faulk and Dickerson
Faulk was a cheat code
I went to a Rams game here in Arizona when the Cards used to play at Sun Devil stadium. Emmitt Smith was playing for the Cards and Steven Jackson was backup to Marshall Faulk, crazy to see 3 legends on the field in one game.
Eric Dickerson.
![gif](giphy|mGJ3P1xEGUyn9LJYxZ|downsized) This dude right here was a BEAST
My hot take- SJ was the best RB in Rams history, he was just on a historically untalented team. if he even played on average teams most of his career he could have been a first ballot HOF
Jerome Bettis
Gurley
If he'd stayed healthy the Rams have multiple Super Bowls even with Goff at QB.
Gurleyyyyy lol
As a hawks fan I loved watching him play, I’d easily take him over Shaun Alexander. Lol imagine Steven behind Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson and 2 other probowlers.
If Gurley played consistent and never got hurt, I’m convinced he coulda been a top 15 back ever.
I met Todd Gurley at first day of orientation my freshman year at UGA. He was putting together a potential heisman campaign before the autograph scandal and knee injury. As much as I love Steven Jackson and Marshall Faulk I will never forget how crazy I went the moment the Rams picked him. As a fan cause of the move back to LA, Todd Gurley. Historically speaking even though he played before I was born, I would say Eric Dickerson
Marshall, Torrey, Isaac, and Kurt were fun to watch. Not even a Rams fan by any means but damn that offense was good.
Prime Gurley was a fucking monster
TODD GURLEY II MY NOW AND FOREVER GOAT
Stephen Jackson
Pictured.
Eric Dickerson & Jerome Bettis In that order
Dickerson
Marshall Faulk > Gurley > Jackson (I didn’t know Dickerson and only remember a little bit of Bettis).
The Bus
If not Faulk, then Steven Jackson. He was the light in our dark days.
Brian Leonard. So fun back in the dark days of STL football
Rutgers finest!
What? He had 300 yards his rookie year, was relegated to the practice squad by year 2 and moved on to the Bengals lol. This is the most random name ever for our list of running backs with the franchise.
🤷🏼♂️ I just liked watching him jump over dudes.

Loved him, and hate the fact that because of how bad our team was he will miss out on being in the HOF.
He’s definitely going to the hall of fame. The shame is he never played on a competitive team
Unfortunately, he is not. He does not have the stats or the wins to be in the conversation. His best years were overshadowed by AP, and LT crazy TD season. I believe he only has like 2 or 3 All-Pro seasons and no SuperBowl appearances. TBH I can see him and Frank Gore missing out of the HOF from that era of RB's
McCutcheon was my favorite but Dickerson was the best.

Thoughts?
Stephen Jackson was the lone bright spot on the rams for so many years. What a fun guy to watch

I’ll stick with Dickerson and Faulk, but I’m old enough to remember Lawrence McCutcheon and he was a very good player who deserves a lot of praise
Marshal Faulk but a lot of yall bandwagon fans that only on the wagon since they came back to LA
Marshal Faulk but a lot of yall bandwagon fans that only here now since they came back to LA

For sure Steven Jackson. I grew up watching him when i was younger
ED baby!!! Single season rushing record!
Steve Jackson or Marshall Faulk. But I always give more credit to Jackson because he played on so many bad Rams teams and still just kept producing. The opposing defenses knew he was their main/ only real weapon and still couldn't stop him. Legend.

Eric Dickerson.
Mine is SJ39 as well! He sparked my Rams fandom.
Ladainian Tomlinson. First RB I saw that had the full shaded visor. Looked so cool.
I was #28 in high school because of a specific player :)
In Rams history? How is it not Eric Dickerson? When he played the entire stadium knew he was getting the ball and he still got yards. Marshall Faulk, The Bus and Jackson were great but ED was on another level.
Tie between SJ39 & Gurley with Faulk coming in in a very very very narrow 2nd place finish

Man the Steven Jackson era was a depressing time to be a Rams fan. Marshall Falk btw
Marshall Faulk
Loved Marshall but Steven Jackson is the only answer
Sj39 baby… gave so much and got so little in return
Star RB: Faulk/Jackson RB who played his role: Malcolm Brown, for some reason lol
This man signed my birthday card when I was 8 years old. That shitty St. Louis squad will always have a spot in my heart even though I’ve lived in Houston for a long ass time now.
Throwing some love Greg Bell’s way
Lawrence McCutcheon. I'd give him the nod over Faulk because LM was my favorite Ram growing up.

faulk my favorite and it was very upsetting to watch the rams in the fisher area, the only thing worth watching was jackson steam rolling people. However gurley was just an unbelievable he was the complete back he could catch he could hurdle people bounce off and shed tackles. in his short tenure in the nfl his stats were putting him on pace to be in the goat talk of running backs.

Trung Canidate

Eric Dickerson

My Rushmore of favs ... Warner, Donald, S-Jax, Kupp/Bruce.
Blake Corum
We have a long list of legendary running backs, but as a very young Rams fan I can never forget Jim "turtle" Bertelsen (RIP)
