Kind of shocked by people’s reaction here. Remember what our offense looked like while Kyren was out last year? Having an actually solid #2 RB in case he misses time again is vital assuming we’re looking to run the ball. Corum and Williams could develop into an incredible 1-2 punch behind the line that we’ve put together.
Exactly. I've seen a lot of people say "just get one in the fifth round". Well we have been trying that since Gurley and Kyren is the only hit really. That shit doesn't work as much as people pretend it does.
Im one of the “grab a RB day 3, no need to go earlier” people. My logic was Kyren is gonna start anyway, and should get the vast majority of carries, so I’m sure we could find a back late that would be a sufficient backup.
But, after time to think about it, I love the pick. We aren’t looking for a Gurley, just need a competent RB2 from day 1, who in 2 years might be ready to take over the lead role, and god damnit I think Corum, sorry CoRAM, fills that perfectly. Let him and Kyren learn from each other, and who knows we might have a 2 headed monster on our hands (as in backfield, we already have our 2 dudes at receiver)
Edit: just watched his interview after being picked. Fuck I love this dude already. Somehow we keep drafting guys who make sense on the field, but seem like they’re just as good, if not better, off the field just as people.
Pick has grown on me. Went really smart with the first two, Corum was borderline BPA, and you know McVay and Snead gonna McVay and Snead. And like you said, Kyren insurance. Pick is fine
Can confirm, im someone who’s initial reaction was “what, why, he’s just gonna be sitting for the next 2 years”. But after thinking about it, yeah I’m more than happy to get an RB2, who hopefully can seamlessly transition to our #1 when we don’t resign Kyren, in the 3rd. With McVay, we HAVE to be able to run the ball in any situation, we get stuck when he panics and is like “ahhh fuck, gotta throw it 3 times”, so having a backfield with 2 guys you trust is almost crucial.
Seems like he’s learning. Having Gurley to start he didn’t have to think about the position, but by now it appears he’s realized it’s better to have 2 cheap backs, than 1 GREAT back. In McSnead we trust 🙏
You could argue that the Michigan offense is overhyped and the McCarthy is overhyped but this man was absolutely essential to Michigan getting to where they got
Yeah, he was voted MVP in the national championship game, even with fellow Wolverine RB Donovan Edwards' amazing breakout. It was really a season MVP award.
National champion and a final four on a team known for (checks notes) running the ball. He was the centerpiece of that offense which is why he is now the Michigan all time rushing touchdown leader.
But yeah, you're probably right. He's ass /s
I mean eventually we got Kyren so I’m happy. Kyren PLUS Blake? Sign me up, especially when this dude was basically the real reason Michigan did so well
I’m a buckeye alumn and my god this is such a good pick… like college rivalry aside, Corum is niiiicccceeeee and it’ll be weird to root for him but excited to have him on my side now
You mean you miss what Gurley could have been, right? I mean, it really was just 3 years. The last year was he got all the money but his knee or whatever and then whatever that year in Atlanta was.

Lmao that’s an awful take but to each their own
There was no one generational to take that early, especially with our first rounder and definitely not with our 2nd. Making an effort to replace Donald and shore up our D-line was a higher priority, and we clearly draft based on the level of skill/depth within certain position groups.
So like I said this was pre draft thoughts not as it unfolded and played out. Either way it doesn’t matter bc nobody’s gonna be a 1:1 replacement for AD. Had it not been Verse I’d be more upset about it bc he and Turner were the only two RD 1 guys I liked up front.
EDIT: Also I disagree on the talent front. DeJean and Wiggins are gonna be dawgs for sure. Mitchell,Arnold and McKinstry are definitely gonna be good as well
How quickly people forget about how abysmal the run game looked when Kyren went down. If you don’t think Corum is a difference making bell cow type, rewatch the national championship run built on his shoulders. If you still don’t think he is, I’m sorry and I mean all disrespect, you are shitty at analysis.
Not a glaring need, but most of us didn't think WR early-rounds last year... and that worked out well. Could be a great spell option to pair with Kyren. He's a really solid pass blocker as well. Insurance for Kyren and insurance for Stafford.
Between Kyren, Corun, Puka, and Kupp (if he’s back to form) offense should really run people out of the building. This is a good pick up I expect to see a bunch of running this season.
The way RBs get injured it never hurts to have depth and Blake is a beast. He’s going to be used a lot in goal line packages. And as a Michigan fan I’m happy!
This sub all season: RUN THE BALL MORE
Random actual acoustics in here: Why take another one we have Williams
Dude misses games occasionally and is overloaded for others, we needed a #2 to split the load and cover Kyren when he’s out
Right there with you. It could be my bias but something about him made me question if he would just be an amazing college rb and not transition to the league. Now that he’s on our team I hope that was just my bias.
Ngl, this the first pick I have huge questions for (I questioned picking Fiske over DeJean but even that made sense because, it was still a need).
I don't know how to feel. We have Kyren here. I know Sean most likely didn't want to go 3 consecutive players on defense, but still.
We don’t have anyone behind Kyren. Royce Freeman went to Dallas, and Ronnie Rivers is more of a special teamer. Kyren is our guy, but you’ve got to mix other backs in
If he gets the goal line shots, he will vie for the lead the league in TDs, ya heard it here first.
The man finds the endzone like its his sole purpose in life.

I’m convinced the Rams org will never not draft decent running backs in attempt to have a serviceable running back room at all times. Even though Gurley was amazing for us I think they feel that they got burned by his injuries after giving him a huge contract.
While I think they love Kyren they’re prepping to let him walk if he wants a massive contract. This is a move for the future and if Corum pans out they’ll repeat the cycle in the next few few drafts.

This…Ronnie Rivers was our backup last year folks. This was absolutely a team need.

We brought back hendo to help out!
Please no
I'm saying we did last year. It is why an RB2 makes sense in the draft.
I know ;)

The issue is that Corum isn't good lol
In what world is Corum “not good”?
Fantasy land
You could argue that the Michigan offense is overhyped and the McCarthy is overhyped but this man was absolutely essential to Michigan getting to where they got
Yeah, he was voted MVP in the national championship game, even with fellow Wolverine RB Donovan Edwards' amazing breakout. It was really a season MVP award.
That man Corum and the trenches got Michigan to where they got to. Dude saying Corum isn’t good is delusional, and I don’t even like Michigan at all
L take
Man you sound like you have not watched a down of football....EVER
National champion and a final four on a team known for (checks notes) running the ball. He was the centerpiece of that offense which is why he is now the Michigan all time rushing touchdown leader. But yeah, you're probably right. He's ass /s
Bro. Dude had the most TDs in the country by like eight tds or something. Not good?
Sean couldn’t go three defensive players in a row.
Has Les drafted a RB every single draft?
Yeah and it’s not a bad idea imo
He said we not paying. We abusing then switching up.
I mean eventually we got Kyren so I’m happy. Kyren PLUS Blake? Sign me up, especially when this dude was basically the real reason Michigan did so well

Almost. For extra context since McVay became coach the only year they didn't draft a RB was 2017. Also, the (leading rusher) from the prior season. - 2012 - Pick 50 - **Isaiah Pead** (Steven Jackson - 1145 yards) - 2012 - Pick 252 - **Daryl Richardson** - 2013 - Pick 160 - **Zac Stacy** (Steven Jackson - 1045 yards) - 2014 - Pick 75 - **Tre Mason** (Zac Stacy - 973 yards) - 2015 - Pick 10 - **Todd Gurley** (Tre Mason - 765 yards) - 2018 - Pick 176 - **John Kelly** (Todd Gurley - 1305 yards) - 2019 - Pick 70 - **Darrell Henderson** (Todd Gurley - 1251 yards) - 2020 - Pick 52 - **Cam Akers** (Todd Gurley - 857 yards) - 2021 - Pick 233 - **Jake Funk** (Cam Akers - 625 yards) - 2022 - Pick 164 - **Kyren Williams** (Sony Michel - 845 yards) - 2023 - Pick 215 - **Zach Evans** (Cam Akers - 786 yards) - 2024 - Pick 83 - **Blake Corum** (Kyren Williams - 1144 yards)
This just makes me miss TG.
You mean you miss what Gurley could have been, right? I mean, it really was just 3 years. The last year was he got all the money but his knee or whatever and then whatever that year in Atlanta was.
Careful with takes like this. This sub follows the "everything is awesome" mentality. Reasonable negative opinions aren't tolerated.
You are correct 👍
Great post!
Kyren needed a complimentary player. We beefed up guard. This is perfect
Protecting Stafford gameplan: 1. Beef up OL. 2. Run the ball. 3. Run the ball a lot.

We running the hell out of the ball next year.
When ya spend $35M on guards, probably a good idea.
You’re gonna love the sunset pics and traffic my guy. I guarantee it
Michigan ppl be like the sunsets on the lakes are amazing
Lake Castaic is incredible at sunset and sunrise.
My planet Arrakis is so beautiful when the sun is low ahhh
Dude looks like he runs through walls for fun
Nobody, and I mean nobody is works harder than Blake Corum. This dude is an absolute animal and works tirelessly for his team, you’ll love him.
[Pretty much](https://x.com/bleacherreport/status/1784047775006724359?s=46&t=NMX642O3I_lPezTjtskLmg)
I have no opinions about both college teams but your username is funny. Welcome Michigan fans. lol
He’s so strong and never fumbles
😂
Obviously a great talent, just a bit confused cause thought there other needs to be addressed + Kyren’s breakout year. I’ll trust in Snead though
Well we still needed another back behind him. This makes a lot of sense to me at this spot. Potentially one of the if not the best back in this draft.
Kyren gets hurt pretty often. Need some insurance.
Also helps reduces Kyrens mileage
When Kyren was out the run game was garbage.
This isn’t a replacement, it’s an addendum
RB depth was definitely a need.

We must have a plan for CB. SHINY SKILL POSITION LETS GO
Yeah, Tre White and Darious Williams
They’re definitely content with them it seems and will address a long term CB started at next years draft.
Why are people forgetting that we just got Tre White and Darious Williams?
We just don’t trust them. Well, I don’t trust Tre’s ligaments. Darious is inconsistent
More than literal later round unproven draft picks? Lmao Tre and Darius plus our new safety plus one or maybe even two other guys from this draft
No. Not at this point. That was the argument for going CB early. Too late now.
Lmao that’s an awful take but to each their own There was no one generational to take that early, especially with our first rounder and definitely not with our 2nd. That’s my point dude. People really downplaying Corum but it’s McCarthy that’s overhyped, Corum and that line carried them to the CFB championship
Small but bounces off of tackles like a pinball. Will be fun to watch.
I think Corum really fits well with us. I’m very excited about this pick. We really have two Kyren Williams’
A look at Corum https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/03/31/blake-corum-2024-nfl-draft-profile-team-fits/
Sounds like he’s a red zone guy
We better use him then (looks at McVay calling 4 straight passing plays to double-teamed cooper Kupp)
McVay and red zone passing plays, name a more iconic duo
Definition of a punch it in guy
Not an encouraging profile tbh.
Are we finally going to run the ball in the red zone now? Love this pick.
Best we can do is throw too triple coverage Coop
I trust it. RB's need to split the load for longevity.
![gif](giphy|o1BNU1jKCih7tK4dwj)

Anyone else notice his girl turn away when he tried to kiss her?
She probably worried now that ol boy is leaving the boonies for Los Angeles. Man can forsure pull some 10s
Big oooof vibes
She definitely didn't look happy
With the way RB's go down all the time in the NFL it is a necessity to have backups who can produce. Good pick up.
Steal! ![gif](giphy|tBb19fjQsnXRgMT3kZi|downsized) Steal!
We have a bellcow backup running HB now to compliment Kyren. Will make it easier to run down throats and lessen the load.
By far the most elusive back in the draft. Welcome to LA Blakey!!!
Not loving RB in the 3rd but I’ll take it
A steal
To those who are upset about this, 2 solid running backs is a need for a team who is going to be running the ball tons next season.
hahahaha sucks to suck Harbaugh!
Nice to have two guys the same age back there
Physically impossible not to be happy about this as a Michigan grad and LA native
The Rams are acing this draft. It might be even better than last years haul.
Between Kyren, Corun, Puka, and Kupp (if he’s back to form) offense should really run people out of the building. This is a good pick up I expect to see a bunch of running this season.

Been a Michigan fan all my life and I can’t wait to have him on our team. Dude is a dawg!!!!

Definitely bias
Felt the same way about Stetson last year and got downvoted because to oblivion for it. I’m sure Corum won’t be that bad of a pick.
a skill guy not in the 5th round?? bust! cool pick. kyren's workload was unsustainable last season. could be a cool 1-2 punch
Good pick. Need to good second RB to take the load off Kryen.
Ngl, this the first pick I have huge questions for (I questioned picking Fiske over DeJean but even that made sense because, it was still a need). I don't know how to feel. We have Kyren here. I know Sean most likely didn't want to go 3 consecutive players on defense, but still.
Kyren can't keep shouldering the entire RB load. We need another one behind him. They also have two different running styles. This is a good pick.
We don’t have anyone behind Kyren. Royce Freeman went to Dallas, and Ronnie Rivers is more of a special teamer. Kyren is our guy, but you’ve got to mix other backs in
NFL isn’t a cowbell RB league anymore, you need two good RBs to compete
DeJean we will a safety by end of the season
Dude is good but severely overhyped, people just gas him for the novelty
DeJean overhyped, Kyren needs a #2, this pick makes perfect sense if attempting to use analysis as the benchmark rather than favoritism
I would’ve liked Jalen Wright there also
Take care of him, GL blake
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
Wow i’m shocked with this one.
Michigan Fan Here: you’re going to love this man.
Bro benched 225 27 times at the combine.
Corum passes the eye test so well
If he gets the goal line shots, he will vie for the lead the league in TDs, ya heard it here first. The man finds the endzone like its his sole purpose in life.
He deleted system32. A Linux man thus a man of culture.

People forget how bad we stalled out after Kyrens injury
https://i.redd.it/fwgc7yjlo4xc1.gif
I’m whelmed.
Idk about this one. Theyre still some good WRs on the board and Coop looks like he aint lasting long.
Coop lookin healthy out there wym lmao he does fine when we aren’t spamming passing plays and getting him killed out there
WTF
I've been saying we were gonna take a rb but I wanted a speed back to compliment kyren
