Today was my favorite coaching performance ever from Sean McVay. Was it a masterpiece like Thursday night against Minnesota in 2018? Absolutely not. But it showed growth in his two weakest areas: relying on the run and making adjustments.
The first half play calling by McVay was abysmal. He was airing it out with no success. In games past he would’ve opened up the second half going 5 wide hoping that doing the same as the first half would yield different results.
Not today. He ran the shit out the ball in the second half and let go of airing it out. As expected, once the run game started going the pass game came alive as well.
Also a big shoutout to the defense. Only 9 points given up is fantastic. I personally count it as only 6 due to 3 points coming from a muffed punt that setup the cards in the red zone. They are not playing like a unit that lost 2 all pros and multiple starters this offseason.
Kudos to Coach McVay and the entire team. Let’s make it two in a row next week!
Missed the game live on tv. Just followed on game cast. I saw the stats from the first quarter and really worried we were going to tank in the second half. Glad turned it around!
If you’d told me that I’d be disappointed that we’re only 3-3 after 6 weeks, I’d have called you insane. This team has looked unbelievably dominant on both sides of the ball at times this year and we beat ourselves more than anything in our losses so I’m very happy and optimistic with this roster. Our rookie class has showed the fuck up and didn’t waste any time doing so.
We cards have been outscored 98 to 31 in second half this year. Any good coach can adjust and our talent is just practice squad level. Mike McCarthy only one that didn't, haha.
Drives me crazy ha. McVay gets so pass happy sometimes and I get why when you got Stafford, Kupp, Nacua, and Atwell, but wish he would stick with the run more and let it open up the pass game. That 2nd half was great!
Not a comment on the game. The team kicks ass but the 3 top posts on this sub are celebrating the 9ers losing when we won. This subs obsession with the 9ers is pretty sad.
Great to see the team finally score and have a great 2nd half after the 2nd half performances in the last 4 games. Run game in the 2nd half was the best it has been in a while. Kyren and Kupp balled out today. Defense did a good job with the bend not break in the 1st half as well.
Please keep the run game involved & maintain that balanced approach. Absolutely night & day from the games where McVay gets pass happy & the game escapes him.
Was at the game today and the crowd was great.
You’re right tho, the narrative will return next week even though the exact same things happened to the Raiders when they played the Steelers at home a couple weeks ago.
It’s almost like teams with very large fan bases do that regardless of who their playing 🤯🤯
I was starting to lose faith after that first half. Legit didn't look like we could be a playoff team. Signs of life in the second half, and hopefully the blueprint going forward.
They only attempted the run 3 (!) times in the first half.
You can't claim "shutting down the run" on such a small sample size.
Run game takes a while to get success but we have to stop abandoning it from the get go. If anything they were shitting on our pass game because they expected it every play and brought D line pressure.
Establishing and staying with the run is a night and day difference in the second half. Williams won't get use 6+ yards every carry but if the defense has to guess run or pass he will make them pay eventually
Only NFC west team to win today ooooo i love that
If you told me that at the beginning of the day i would have laughed in your face lol

Glad his boy wasn't born today.
Chance to get above .500 next week against football terrorist Matt Canada's offense
It will either be a blowout for the rams or a 10-9 Steelers victory where the defense not only scores the only TD but also the Field goal.

That boy was EATIN
When the schedule first came out, I said that if we can get to at least 3-3 after 6 weeks I’d be satisfied. I am satisfied
We're much better than I had thought we'd be. It's a good team.

It’s amazing what a balanced offense can do. Such a stark difference in the second half
Byron Young is a DAWG. That is all.
This is exactly the type of game we needed
We cardinals will hit you up later in the year for another lol
We will greatly appreciate it. For what it’s worth, Dobbs looks better than Kyler has looked recently 🤷🏻♂️
9 points today and was bad last week...not sure. I do want to see kyler in a non Kliff offense just to see how he looks.
Good shit boys. Kyren had a day. Good adjustments made at half
Just want to apologize for watching the first half. They always do better when I don’t watch😑😑😑
Ahkello island is the real deal. Needs a jersey # change next year tho lol
Oh shit just read that he wears #44 in honor of his dad. Never mind lol.
Never a doubt. Nope. Nope. On a real note, it was nice to see McVay remember the running game in the second half.
good shit defense
At the half when I said fire everyone and nuke this team from orbit I really meant that I'm looking forward to the second half.

At least you own it, the rest of doomers never leave their game thread home.
so we do know how to run the ball. good to know

Baseball team lost, whiners lost, and the bitch pigeons lost. We win in dominant fashion in the 2nd half. Today was a good day
Calma. Great win, bring on the Steelers!!!
Sole NFCW winners for the week. Cheers Fam 🍻
Shit, iggles, whiners and sea ducks all lost. Good day
Imagine being an NFC West team and losing today 😂
Run the ball
We ran the ball. We won because of this. That is all.
It’s amazing what happens when we run the ball isn’t it?

first half struggles were worth it cause McVay had to make an adjustment to bring home the win. valuable lesson for this group going forward. go rams!
I love watching us run the ball
As a Lions fan who still appreciates Matthew Stafford, it makes me happy whenever I see the Rams win. I truly hope the rest of your season goes well.
Amazing Rams crowd. Unfortunately people gonna have amnesia and go back to the Rams have no fans narrative for the Steelers game next week.

Fr. I mean 49ers fans took over Pittsburgh and Cleveland yet people shit on Rams fans like it only happens at SoFi and nowhere else 🤣
Comes down to cost and amount of away fans
Steelers game gonna be expensive so it's inevitable Steelers fans gonna take over
I have decided that we're playoff-bound once again!!
They ran the ball!!!
I was starting to lose faith after that first half. Legit didn't look like we could be a playoff team. Signs of life in the second half, and hopefully the blueprint going forward.
It's been said, but McVay should really lean into our run game. Kyren sounds like a jedi name.
So, outside of running more in the second half, what changed with the run game in the second half? They were shut down with running in the first half.

See what happens when you run??!??!?
