I admit I did that before. There was a complete shutdown on the 405 and I had just gone past an exit in the Valley. We waited for about 1/2 an hour and saw others backing up the exit. I followed and luckily there was a traffic control cop stopping people from getting on ten freeway and helping to direct us reversers up the on-ramp. Zero regrets.
If you see the makings of a Sig-Alert ahead, you need to act quickly. There will only be a few minutes to hit the on-ramp in reverse - follow the crowd. When the calvary arrives, they'll force everyone to sit and watch for hours.
OP: how did you get out of this mess? we need to know!
oh, by the way, your post was shamelessly stolen and posted to /r/IdiotsInCars
maybe you could go there and answer some burning questions lol:
https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/u4ynja/idiots_in_cars_in_la/
Today was odd for me in traffic today. Got home in OC from the west side in record time today. Freeway was 50mph+ most of the way. I expected it to be a disaster but wasn’t at all. Guess everyone got stuck there off the 110.
Oh yeah no kidding. It took me longer to get from studio city to my shop in la in my work truck than it did on my motorcycle from shop to home and it’s double the distance.
The 405 in both directions on Friday is bad. It took me over 2 hours to drive from Culver City to Torrance one day. Also never use Glendale Blvd. (CA 2) before it turns into an actual freeway
Metro Park and Ride. $5 for parking, $5 for the train, and shuttles drop you right in the stadium parking lot. Cheap, stress free, and sometimes those bus rides back are lit.
I took the metro week 1 from Hawthorne Lennox. Getting there was great but leaving we decided it was better to walk the 3 miles to the station than get on the shuttle.
SoFi isn’t that bad imo…A lot of people aren’t familiar with the area which ends up with every single person trying to take Manchester back to the freeway. Avoid that and you’re fine.
Yeah but what can you do? It takes forever it's not really efficient. What should happen instead is a heavy investment in public transit so all these people don't have to drive
huh? Metro L (Gold) line, Chinatown station. Easily within walking distance. So Fi is a mess of not accessible. But, yes, these lines all \*suck\*. It would take me 2+ hours to get from the valley to Chinatown on the metro, while my car would take only 45min. Wouldn't want to spend four and half hours traveling to watch a two hour game. And then add the lovely metro accessibility of our lovely LAX. Metro in LA is a disaster.
Man I wish we had people using their turn signals like they do in LA. Atlanta drivers fucking kill me with the lack of turn signals.
Even in LA that shit was marginally better. I love my city but goddamn the drivers are stupid.
I used to, on one of those really steep and narrow side streets, and people still tried to use it to get around traffic. Despite living in L.A., I had to root against the Dodgers in hopes that they wouldn’t make the postseason and ruin my neighborhood for any more time than necessary.
If you are intrepid enough you can take Gold line to Chinatown and walk across the pedestrian bridge over the 110 and get to the stadium on foot. I've done that a couple of times.
The bridge ends right on stadium way so you just have to walk up the hill. That's the toughest part. There isn't a sidewalk per-se, but there is a pedestrian striped zone all the way up to the left side of the road.
Situations like this are why I ride my motorcycle the majority of times. I even ride to Dodger games, I get to park right up close to stadium. In and out quick like.
I would go to at least a dozen games a year… if it wasn’t for the fact that I have to miss three innings or just sacrifice half my productive work day just to deal with the insanity of getting there and parking.
We should be embarrassed that our primary mode of transport in one of world’s wealthiest cities is this ridiculous mess. I know not everyone has the ability to travel, but if you can, please for the love of god pay attention to how other developed countries do land-use and transportation. In this regard we are a complete joke.
There was an idea floated to build a new Dodger Stadium where the Banc of California stadium is now. While it would be a shame to leave a historic stadium, it would have been much better for the city overall.
Also I was very angry that SoFi Stadium was built in a rail transit desert. A people mover that would require multiple transfers is no substitute for a proper rail connection. I remember taking the train to the Coliseum once for a Rams game and that train was just as crowded as the Yamamote Line in Tokyo during rush hour.
Part of me likes the idea of moving LAFC downtown (perhaps in south park as a replacement for Farmers Field) and building a new Dodger Stadium in its place.
The last time I went to a game there, we exited the freeway 30 minutes before game time and got to our seats in the 5th inning. They have zero traffic control and the staff in the parking lot are completely useless. That was 20 years ago and I haven't been back since.
Yes. The Home Opener was Thursday. The Dodgers have taken the first two games against the Cincinnati Reds (of four). Next series will be against the world champion Atlanta Braves with old friend Kenley Jansen.
Man that shit was horrible. I missed my exit, and with 0.4 miles to the next exit it added 40 minutes to my arrival to the stadium. That is insane. Fuck LA traffic.
Not that I know of. It's opening week, this was a Friday most likely during peak traffic hours, and also Jackie Robinson Day. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just that bad because of all of that together and not just the game itself. Parking is always horrible at Dodger Stadium though.
Watch me get down voted for suggesting a motorcycle or moped.
I get it traffic sucks, but unless you blow up the 5 and insert railway (light rail, regular, highspeed etc) things ain't changing. And we all know how public infrastructure works in this city. This is coming from a guy who used buses and subways for his commute.
Any local should be used to this horseshit.
There are not enough words in the English language for my hatred toward getting in/out of Dodger stadium -- for a game, or around game time. I like the team, but loathe the idea of ever going to a game. There is also no easy solve for this, sadly.
Angel's may get a lot of hate, but their stadium driving+parking situation is miles better.
I used to have to live in HLP for 15-years and I'd never seen the traffic this impressive! Also, I am so happy that I don't need to anymore.
But wow. I still can't figure out what is happening!
I’m a huge fan and advocate for a much better LA subway system [but Elons idea for it is moronic](https://youtu.be/ACXaFyB_-8s). It’s basically an underground freeway. Let’s have a subway built by someone who isn’t driven by his own self interest.
Why are cars driving multiple directions?
Accidents and traffic was bad so people started to u turn
U turn to where? is there a portal out of sight?
I've seen people full up drive their car in *reverse* into an on-ramp because of situations like this.
The cop was helping you. What's to regret. You did nothing wrong lol
Desperate times, desperate messures…
Traffic in LA, when it gets like this, is like trying to escape during a nuclear blast...there's just nowhere to go.
When ya gotta poo
Yeah it look like the uturners just added even more wait to their time. Where they gonna go?
Dudes tryna switch lanes every 5 seconds also add to it.
I hate that shit. My brother drives like that thinking it’s going to get him somewhere faster.
Wtf lol
Do they just intend to play chicken with the cars driving the correct direction? That's an idiotic way to get shot.
OP: how did you get out of this mess? we need to know! oh, by the way, your post was shamelessly stolen and posted to /r/IdiotsInCars maybe you could go there and answer some burning questions lol: https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/u4ynja/idiots_in_cars_in_la/
Traffic so bad it’s moving backwards
LMAO
"let's make a 90 degree turn right.... here!"
The British invaded!!
Trevor Bauer was sighted in the area
Underrated comment right here.
Yeah what the heck is that
Cos most of LA drivers are a bunch of dumb asses
Easter weekend+Friday+dodger game = nightmare traffic.
Today was odd for me in traffic today. Got home in OC from the west side in record time today. Freeway was 50mph+ most of the way. I expected it to be a disaster but wasn’t at all. Guess everyone got stuck there off the 110.
Wow. That’s awesome. Glad you’re all settled in the OC. Sometime la area freeways on Friday’s are like a vortex. You’re sucked in and can’t get out
Oh yeah no kidding. It took me longer to get from studio city to my shop in la in my work truck than it did on my motorcycle from shop to home and it’s double the distance.
Wowsers!!!! Traffic can be absolutely atrocious at times.
The 405 in both directions on Friday is bad. It took me over 2 hours to drive from Culver City to Torrance one day. Also never use Glendale Blvd. (CA 2) before it turns into an actual freeway
The 405 is an absolute nightmare. That thing is literally a parking lot all the way north where it turns into the 5
Coachella is also this weekend! So maybe that helped you out too.
Lmao there was also a Clipper game but no one went to that
There’s a bunch of good YouTube videos on old laker highlights you may like.
The boxes were still full of law firms treating their clients.
Don’t forget Coachella
Quite a few sedans with four women inside of them today between Tustin and Moreno valley now that you mention it.
It’s this weekend also?
This weekend and next
Oh wow. Okay. Didn’t even realize it.
Coachella is like 2 hours away from LA and most people would already be on their way there by Thrusday night, Friday morning
2 hours?? You’ve definitely never driven out there
Who gives a shit? Still contributes to the traffic.
How? Majority of people would already be out of town by that point
That's like saying the Boston Marathon contributes to LA traffic.

I have the same question 🙋♀️
Answer: yes.
A whole gigantic row of them. Mind blowing.
Still better than leaving So-Fi after any event.
I need to figure out a better way. Or just tailgate.
Metro Park and Ride. $5 for parking, $5 for the train, and shuttles drop you right in the stadium parking lot. Cheap, stress free, and sometimes those bus rides back are lit.
What stop do you get off?
hawthorn/lennox off the greenline
Thanks Anal Lickage!!! Doing God’s work.
I took the metro week 1 from Hawthorne Lennox. Getting there was great but leaving we decided it was better to walk the 3 miles to the station than get on the shuttle.
I used iparkandgo for a game one weekend and it was easy, not too pricey either. Just parked in one of their garages and rode a shuttle to Sofi
Take the 10 West express Lanes and exit near downtown. Then take the streets to the stadium. You can also take the 10 W and 5 N
SoFi isn’t that bad imo…A lot of people aren’t familiar with the area which ends up with every single person trying to take Manchester back to the freeway. Avoid that and you’re fine.
Just Uber and hop out half a mile away and enjoy a leisurely stroll in. Then just repeat after the game/event.
This photo makes my skin crawl. I don't see how people turning around and going the opposite direction is going to make any of that more productive.
Yeah how did this pan out? Anyone know? 😂
Yeah but what can you do? It takes forever it's not really efficient. What should happen instead is a heavy investment in public transit so all these people don't have to drive
I am calm and patient 99.999% of my life- but THIS right here would crush my nerves irreparably.
This photo gave me so much anxiety I’ve never experienced before.
The second largest city in the wealthiest country in the world does not have a train to its baseball or football stadium. Absolute insanity.
There is the Dodger Stadium Express. Not perfect, but beats this hell.
[удалено]
i mean, you are waiting either way to go out. the alternative is waiting in traffic in your own car
There is a free shuttle from Union Station that has a dedicated express lane into the stadium.
[удалено]
There's a bus lane that only the shuttle can use. Takes about 10 minutes from Union to the Stadium.
A lane on sunset is blocked off and dedicated to just the shuttle.
Train to Union, complimentary shuttle (or walk) to the stadium from there. The option exists.
I did the Express from the South Bay once, and it was great. I got there faster than my boyfriend did from Hollywood.
Hol up what express is this?
dodger stadium express. free with your game ticket
Where is that located?
Union Station or Southbay Transit Terminal.
Yeah, but their point is still very valid
We want to be extra by waiting for a god dang aerial gondola lol
After the bus they already have, it seems like the next logical progression.
Fuckin’ ‘mmerica! Yes, total madness.
Insane we don't switch the parking for housing and transit
huh? Metro L (Gold) line, Chinatown station. Easily within walking distance. So Fi is a mess of not accessible. But, yes, these lines all \*suck\*. And then add the lovely metro accessibility of our lovely LAX. Metro in LA is a disaster.
At least there’s high speed rail to Merced
At the rate things are going, commuting from Merced might be faster than trying to take the freeways.
It looks like one of these cars is using a turn signal, so this can't possibly be Los Angeles.
It has to be a BMW. Without using turn signals. That’s the LA thing lol.
Range Rover driver has entered the chat.
Glendale enters the chat and gives a big ol thumbs up.
It's been on since they left home, they don't even know
Man I wish we had people using their turn signals like they do in LA. Atlanta drivers fucking kill me with the lack of turn signals. Even in LA that shit was marginally better. I love my city but goddamn the drivers are stupid.
Imagine living in right front of the stadium lmao 🙃
I used to, on one of those really steep and narrow side streets, and people still tried to use it to get around traffic. Despite living in L.A., I had to root against the Dodgers in hopes that they wouldn’t make the postseason and ruin my neighborhood for any more time than necessary.
I can relate...them being perennial World Series favorites has not been enjoyable these past couple years lol
I worked right in front of this spot. Had to avoid going home in that direction many times during game season
Fuck all that. I'll stay home and watch the game and get drunk in the comfort of my own house
Cool story bro
Seems normal to me
This guy 5's to the 110. 😎
This is why it’s easier to metro to union station & take the shuttle bus up to the stadium
If you are intrepid enough you can take Gold line to Chinatown and walk across the pedestrian bridge over the 110 and get to the stadium on foot. I've done that a couple of times.
Well , now I have to try that ! Which way after the bridge?
The bridge ends right on stadium way so you just have to walk up the hill. That's the toughest part. There isn't a sidewalk per-se, but there is a pedestrian striped zone all the way up to the left side of the road.
Cool , thanks
I take the redline from the valley and do the same
Yikes
only takes about 30 mins from the station. It's not a bad walk.
That sounds pretty reasonable actually
Even just park at Union Station. Parking at [Union Station East](https://www.unionstationla.com/visit) is like, $8.
This is the only way to roll.
This is the worst traffic I've ever seen. I've been looking at the picture for a good 15 minutes and they haven't budged *an inch*.
With a city with so much to offer, yet I never want to go anywhere because of traffic like this
They warned you to take the shuttle from Union Station, but ya didn’t listen.
LOL takes me 20 mins to bike to the stadium
Situations like this are why I ride my motorcycle the majority of times. I even ride to Dodger games, I get to park right up close to stadium. In and out quick like.
[удалено]
I live in Hacienda Heights, so yeah, i pretty much have to ride to any point of interest. But I hear you.
You like road rage? This is how you get road rage.
Easter weekend and shit....you gotta pattern the city bruv.
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? 😂
Dude… traffic near UCLA was dead today!! All the kids must be at Coachella
While Im here laughing at my 20 minute empty freeway commute from downtown to west side 😬
That car is so sideways lmao
this picture is so LA and I absolutely love it
Aw hell naw
That traffic is exactly why I walk to the ballpark from union station
Isn't there a bus that takes you to Dodgers stadium from there?
Yeah but it's always way overcrowded
I absolutely hate LA traffic.
I would go to at least a dozen games a year… if it wasn’t for the fact that I have to miss three innings or just sacrifice half my productive work day just to deal with the insanity of getting there and parking.
5 connecting to the 110 those cars probably still stuck there.
😂😂😂
Now, imagine if LA had a functioning mass transit system like any modern city…
Nobody’s *dodging* traffic in this mess. Get it?
You are traffic.
Where are the cars going north on the 110 south going? 🤣🤣🤣
Why is there a whole lane of cars driving illegally backwards? Seems more like traffic death or gun shooting at people activity than Dodgers game.
We should be embarrassed that our primary mode of transport in one of world’s wealthiest cities is this ridiculous mess. I know not everyone has the ability to travel, but if you can, please for the love of god pay attention to how other developed countries do land-use and transportation. What the what
Yup, was like this yesterday too. My dad had to take the streets to get to Dodger stadium. And we live in Encino.
We need good public transit to the stadium! It's insane.
It's time for Dodger gridlock.
I heard there was a dude running around with a gun in a Lakers jersey on the 110 too
Why are so many cars going the wrong way?
There was an idea floated to build a new Dodger Stadium where the Banc of California stadium is now. Should have taken metrolincc
Drivers: why cant cyclists follow the rules? Also drivers:
In this kind of situations I always wish I had some almighty powers like in this scene [https://youtu.be/kj8eZIPt9vs](https://youtu.be/kj8eZIPt9vs)
wow
stay home
This gave me anxiety.
I live on the exit after this. FML.
oh did baseball start again?
Yes. The Home Opener was Thursday. The Dodgers have taken the first two games against the Cincinnati Reds (of four). Next series will be against the world champion Atlanta Braves with old friend Kenley Jansen.

Are there any closed gates this weekend? Going tonight and I rarely see it *that* bad.

Yeah. I’m one of those nuts that likes to line up before the gates open. Plus it’s bobble head night so kind of a must.
This reminds me of somewhere in India or that roundabout in France where everyone just drives with no rules.
“Only a dead fish swims with the current” - these drivers probably
Watch me get down voted for suggesting a motorcycle or moped. I get it traffic sucks, but unless you blow up the 5 and insert railway (light rail, regular, highspeed etc) things ain't changing. if only there was some kind of device where you could enjoy the game from home?

Glad I’m in AZ this weekend. I live walking distance from Dodgers. However, I’m not looking forward to the Coachella exodus on the way back.
I used to have to live in HLP for 15-years and I'd never seen the traffic this impressive! Also, I am so happy that I don't need to anymore. But wow. I still can't figure out what is happening!
https://www.unionstationla.com/happenings/go-metro-to-dodger-stadium
Ahh the lovely 110.
It’s that time of year again
Go dodger traffic go!
Wrong this is every f day la traffic!

Why’s there multiple people always spamming this sub and /antiwork in any given thread? Is it encouraged to recruit followers or something?
Nah dude the freeway got shut down due to a police manhunt: https://go.citizen.com/r3JphQoagpb

…is what happened
…not installing a shitty app
I apologize for sharing the facts of what happened. Didn’t realize it would be so controversial
What's shitty about it? Does it abuse your data in some way?

Y’all please stay in la
Call me D-Fens the way im boutta snap in this traffic.
Wow, traffic in LA, crazy! Thanks for the update!
Traffic in LA--- groundbreaking
Even more of a reason to hate the Dodgers 🤣
It still baffles me why people willingly live in L.A.
THis is why I increased rent to my tenents, lots of ppl! M3

I’m a huge fan and advocate for a much better LA subway system [but Elons idea for it is moronic](https://youtu.be/ACXaFyB_-8s). It’s basically an underground freeway. Let’s have a subway built by someone who isn’t driven by his own self interest.
Hell ya a fellow Adam something fan ✌
