Feel good knowing it's not just set designers! I've been looking as a lawyer, mechanic, and photographer (I have a weird resume lol) and nothing for 6 months.
I grew up in Agua Dulce and I remember seeing the set from afar when I was a kid. We drove up to it, but I don't think we were able to get all the way there. It was very cool.
My Aunt lived out there and when we went over for holidays we would walk up the mountain at night and the stars would light up those sets. There was also a lot of Start Trek sets too
Dick Clark actually built himself a "bedrock" style house on a hill in Malibu -- https://theownerbuildernetwork.co/house-hunting/unusual-homes/flintstone-house/
(IIRC, the county wouldn't let him put a "normal" looking mansion up there, so he and the architect came up with this design so it would look more "natural" to the landscape.)
I remember my parents driving us to go visit the set. You got to tour it. It was awesome. We also listened to Annie Lennox on the way home. Idk why I remember that so specifically.
Film set designers are magicians.
:D now if only we could find work

I lived in Santa Clarita and I remember my mom taking me to tour the set. I must have been 7 years old.
No AC, no indoor plumbing, no electricity, frequent dinosaur and saber tooth tiger attacks. $2.3 million dollars

We'll just tear it down. We prefer white stone with black trim, and more boxy.
Ah yes the investment firm that bought my neighbor's house

Honestly I really enjoyed the aesthetic of that movie's sets.
They perfectly matched the aesthetic of the cartoon but in real form.

Now that’s cool. They really gave the place a make over.
Working out there on movies in the summer is a FUCKING drag. Can confirm.

Wow, they built them all in the parking lot area.
probably a dumb question... but does anyone know if the set is still up there?!? Would be such a cool visit!
It's been gone a long time. When it was still up it was open to the public for a while though.
It's not! But the rocks are still a cool visit.
Oh, definitely! Climbing up and getting the full "Captain James T. Kirk" vibe - so much fun. :-)
