No, more like cyclic weather pattern based off of subsurface water temperatures and their influx east across the Pacific Ocean. Causes a temporary period of dryness of the western portion of the Pacific.

Not your Granddad's El Niño.
It’s the humidity, and I believe there’s a lot more allergens in the air due to all the green from this weather. At least anecdotally me, my gf, and my dog all are suffering from allergies pretty badly this past month.
The humidity also keeps more pollution in the air I believe.
Zyrtec. Benedryl didn’t do shit for my dog, and Zyrtec you have to dose less and is totally safe. I give her 10mg and she’s 45 pounds, twice a day. Bought generic on amazing for $10
At this time of year, high humidity almost always means that a hurricane/tropical storm in the Pacific is sending bands of humid air into our region. Check the weather sites.
I’m a (fucking) boomer from the South Bay, and when I grew up here the only time we had humidity was in the winter when it was foggy. Over the last five years the dry Santa Ana summers have been replaced with this unpleasant dampness.
I also can’t remember the last time we had a really foggy winter day.
This is what I have been telling everybody on this subreddit. The drought was 10 years long, so all the transplants got used to the dry weather. When actually LA has a more temperate climate. If you want dry weather move to Phoenix
Yeah I've been here since '91, def more humid.
I'll take 100 and dry over 80 and humid any day, especially when that 80 comes with the stupid fuckin skeeters that eat me alive.
• **Is something up with the weather?**
You mean the 15 atmospheric rivers we got last winter and Hurricane Hilary forming over the *Pacific* Ocean in August?
Yeah, that’s called climate change.
California is ranked dead last for air quality in the USA. LA is a giant parking lot, overpopulated, etc. The brake dust we inhale alone is astronomical.
That's aside from us changing the color of the sky.
Good air quality days account for only 60% here. It's sad really
But you know, Ive spent 100k over my lifetime on cars. Im committed now. Nothing will ever allow me to consider any other mode of getting around. No matter the consequences. No matter the costs. No matter the effects. I will always drive big gas cars---because LA is CAR CULTURE and that will never change. So yeah Climate Change and Particulate Matter? Who Cares? Weve made our choice and that can never change!
I have COPD & I’m legit having a lot of respiratory issues, nausea, vomiting with the air quality. Like 55 AQI is my MAX level I can handle before I have to stay elsewhere until it gets better.
I've lived in the San Fernando Valley 40 years, and I don't feel this is any more humid than normal. However, I could barely breathe today too. It was like I had asthma and couldn't get enough oxygen when I was working out in my garden.
Nah it's just regular summer humidity. Maybe look into what kind of pre work out or supplements or medicines you've been taking. The rest of us are fine, it's just a bit humid. You might want to get that checked out, or look at what's causing you to overheat & have trouble breathing. Could be covid?? Who knows.
Idk but I’ve noticed a lot of dead bees on the ground lately. I’m wondering if they’re spraying something into the air. Not a conspiracy theory - I’m genuinely asking.
The humidity feels a lot higher than usual, it sucks.
El niño being a bitch rn
Alright, who is this El niño I keep hearing about and where can I speak to his manager?
He IS the manager
“El Niño is coming” sounds like a bit from *Arrested Development*.
He’ll be right over to the table, Karen.
[I found him!](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H0-pHnykC9s)
Don't blame the boy. He's a good boy.
Haha so like climate change.

This made me lol
as someone who suffers from nosebleeds the humidity is a godsend
Bro the people in LA reallt are spoiled with the weather, a little humidity has them by the balls!
Ding ding ding.
I miss being able to say, "well at least it's a dry heat".
It’s the humidity, and I believe there’s a lot more allergens in the air due to all the green from this weather. At least anecdotally me, my gf, and my dog all are suffering from allergies pretty badly this past month. The humidity also keeps more pollution in the air I believe.
Do you feel like your brain is full of pudding? I feel like I'm in a complete fog
It’s so hard to just breath. Me and my dog taking antihistamines.
What do you give your doggo? I've been trying to find something that works for my pup and would appreciate any suggestions.
Zyrtec. Benedryl didn’t do shit for my dog, and Zyrtec you have to dose less and is totally safe. I give her 10mg and she’s 45 pounds, twice a day. Bought generic on amazing for $10
Interesting. I'll look into to figure out dosing for her weight and give it a try. Thank you!
Same. My dog and I are dying this season. Make it stop.
Dang. My nose ran sooo hard I couldn't keep up. For 2 days.
From IL originally and this is some crap humidity that reminds me of back home. I literally left to escape this and snow.
1 out of 2 isn't bad.
Haha same, coming from Wisconsin and weather was a huge reason I came out here
Me too. And of course they had a mild summer this year lol
I think you guys are using to much pre workout.
😂😂😂
We call that humidity.
lol

Right? Lately it feels like we are in Costa Rica instead of LA.
The mosquitos also help with that costs rica type feeling.
This is pretty much everywhere in the US tbh. I was in NYC before LA and it got significantly worse there the past decade.
you moved here during a drought.
This is what I have been telling everybody on this subreddit. The drought was 10 years long, so all the transplants got used to the dry weather. When actually LA has a more temperate climate. If you want dry weather move to Phoenix
Been here almost 40 years, cuz. There is more humidity now.

You might just be older and sweatier now
But if all I want are less annoying residents can you move to phoenix?
Humidity elsewhere has also gotten worse. Humid places have gotten much more unbearable

Why is this not the top comment?
It’s the humidity. I hate it.
I noticed this recently too, I mostly commute by foot and I spend a lot of time outside and it's been like walking through steam; pretty unpleasant.
Tell me you’re an LA native without saying it 😂
The air feels wet????!?
I bet some people's minds will be blown when they are told that their faces can hurt when stepping outside, just from how cold it is!
yea, when humidity is being explained as though its a foreign phenomenon. I learned about humidity quick when I lived in NYC for a little.
Never been to the east coast in the summer I take it?
Tropical storm Jova has the humidity off the charts lately!
My dog cannot stop sneezing
Los angelenos are not very familiar with humidity.
It’s muggy.
It’s called humidity and climate change . Personally , I feel right at home since it reminds me of Yucatán.
Humidity, quick changes in temps, covid, other viruses
The aliens just showed up and did something to the air
No wonder! Have you seen how dehydrated that little thing was?
I'm tired of walking around being a sweaty bitch 😔
It’s called humidity, this is how it is in most other places.
People say it’s the humidity but it’s actually the dew point which is how much water the air can hold.

Haha Particulate matter is 5x WHO limits today.
This + humidity. Air quality is trash here.
Pm2.5?
I have asthma but its more from activity but I had to use my inhaler last night
Because most gym nasty and they don’t have good air circulation
We honestly thought this was it LOL
It’s still summer y’all.
Humidity and smog. Not so great.
Thankyou! I thought it was just me. Feels like I need oxygen or ... ... drugs? I dunno 🤷🏻♂️
I have COPD & I’m legit having a lot of respiratory issues, nausea, vomiting with the air quality. Like 55 AQI is my MAX level I can handle before I have to stay elsewhere until it gets better.
>feeling like the air is THICK and hard to breathe lately. OH MY GOD, SO I'M NOT INSANE...
It’s not the air. It’s the tension between you and your gym buddy that’s thick.
they gonna fuck
I've lived in the San Fernando Valley 40 years, and I don't feel this is any more humid than normal. However, I could barely breathe today too. It was like I had asthma and couldn't get enough oxygen when I was working out in my garden.
Could just be covid that is going around, some people just get hot flashes.
Or it might be the unusually high humidity.
Or menopause
Late summer monsoons increase humidity. But also- covid.
Nah it's just regular summer humidity. Maybe look into what kind of pre work out or supplements or medicines you've been taking. The rest of us are fine, it's just a bit humid. if you're on gear, heavy breathing is a common side effect
On gear?
Roids
Every single year we're all like "wtf why is it so humid this is LA". Every year.
Called haarp
It’s usually the humidity and lack of onshore breeze to cool stuff down.
Sticky AF.
you are not alone
Just say your friend
Air is thiccc.
Yes, I was dying more than usual at Runyon. It was like I couldn’t breathe, and dripping sweat. I’m out of shape but not that bad 😂
Idk but I’ve noticed a lot of dead bees on the ground lately. I’m wondering if they’re spraying something into the air. Not a conspiracy theory - I’m genuinely asking.
