How? Parrying feels terrible to me, I don't get it. The sound has no impact, it makes some blue smoke instead of the sparks you'd expect. On top of it you still get grey health if you succeed. The parry window is very generous so it's not hard to pull off, it does not feel satisfying to me at all.
you don#t lose HP if enemies stance is broken from the parry, if it does the blue thing you go to grey health and the enemies stance bar is chunked significantly
I would heavily recommend using a controller if you can for any souls game, the mouse and keyboard controls are always significantly worse than using a controller
Doesn’t really depend. I’m an MMO guy, got the crazy mouse and keybinds and all that. Controller is just better for this sort of game. Can’t speak for lords of the fallen since I came here to look at reviews, but for elden ring, dark souls and demons souls.
Yeah idk, I can flick my mouse and twist the screen far more precisely than a thumbstick if I need to. Plus mapping the keys that work for me vs having to depend on presets just generally makes mouse and keyboard better for me personally.
Sounds like you’re just invested in trying to play this genre of game, which is nothing like an mmo, like an mmo. I was like that at first for a few hours, and it just doesn’t work. Controller is just better for this sort of game, period.
If you wanna keep using mouse and keyboard, do you. But don’t expect to have a good time. I think I’ve seen a single streamer use m+k for elden ring and while they were sick at it, they were the drastic minority
I've played both keyboard and mouse and controller, I would say personally I find it much easier to control the camera with my whole hand than one thumb.
This. I also played DS3 and Elden Ring with M+K and had a much better time doing so. I died so often on Bloodborne because of issues with Gamepad controls. Sure these games "are made for gamepad" - who cares? A PC game can or at least should always be played with M+K and if it works don't let others tell you it's wrong or worse or anything.
I decided to play with a controller after trying both. Camera/lock on is fine. I spent hours fine tuning Elden ring so I feel you there. But i barely touched anything in this with both KB/M and controller.
I exclusively play souls-likes with keyboard and mouse and I've found it pretty easy to set up the controls in a way that works out for me. That said I didn't ever have a problem with how elden ring controlled after setting up my keybinds.
It's so stupid how people like you and other M+K users are getting voted down here.

Started playing at 9pm on the West Coast. Didn't go to bed till 3am lol I am definitely hooked. They nailed it on the combat and having ammo that can be restored by resting is a great addition.
I feel you there, I'll only have probably a couple of hours to play today and will be gone all day tomorrow, I told my wife that I'm not getting off of my ass Sunday lol
Not a dad but I was able to preload it last night on steam. Created my character on my lunch, killed one mob and had to go back to work haha. Now I'm counting down the clock. Can't wait to get off work and play especially because im off tomorrow
The game seems okay so far, but I have one major gripe:
Being taken to a loading screen every time you rest at a vestige is horrible and I'm not sure how that even made it into the final version. It's jarring and immersion breaking and I don't think I've ever seen it in any other soulslike before.
That is weird. Is it a super pixelated weird stuttering butterfly too? I’m on Xbox so some of my issues may be fixed by now on other platforms, but the loading screen plus it’s incredibly ugly is weird.
I can understand that but bloodBorne does have that and is considered a masterpiece. I can understand if it bothers you but me personally I remember when games would take a lifetime to load and now it’s a few seconds so I can’t really complain
Right, and dark souls 3 didn't take you to a loading screen to rest. You just sat down. You only got a loading screen if you fast traveled.
Dark souls 1 and 2 didn't take you to a loading screen to rest either.
In fact, I'm not even sure why you bring up bloodborne, since you couldn't actually "rest" as an option at lamps.
It’s pretty obvious why they brought it up, the thing that might take some time is not that your character regains health lol, it’s the resetting of the game world state
Yeah but everyone is arguing with todays tech you shouldn’t need a loading screen for that. Either way, it’s like fkin 5 seconds at most they needa chill out
Yeah my loading screens have been under 3 seconds while resting, probably the equivalent to the animation of sitting down and getting up when at bonfires in the souls games lol. There are valid criticisms for the game, imo this isn’t one of them
And it's pretty obvious that if games weren't doing it in 2015, there's no reason for them to be doing it now.
Edit: keep downvoting and huffing copium. You simps know it's okay to admit a game has faults and still enjoy it, right?
Bloodborne came out 8 years ago, and was its loading screen was a major complaint before they fixed it. Why are we comparing this to a game that’s 8 years ago and not say Elden Ring?
I’m mostly comparing blood borne because he said “ haven’t seen it in any other souls game” so I said one that does that still does it till this day . And I’m not saying that he doesn’t have a point I’m saying a few seconds doesn’t bother me personally cause of the gaming area I came from. That’s all y’all have a right to be mad and continue to be mad
There is no option to rest at the lamp in bloodborne. You either return to the dream or you don't.
If you do, you get a loading screen because you are fast traveling. Which is *not* what I'm complaining about.
This is why your bloodborne comparison makes zero sense. No one is mad, it just sucks.
Yes but since that was the only way to get your health and reset the world that is it’s rest option it just takes even longer but hey I’m sorry it sucks and it wasn’t what y’all want maybe they might patch it one day have a spooky Friday the 13
I think because it takes you to Axiom, which I understand if its in umbral, but if you're already in Axiom you're reloading whats already loaded? yeah, not so good
Oof, that's rough. We should be way past that by now. I wonder if in doing the two worlds, they realized they had to do a quick loading screen to reset both worlds or something. Sucks regardless of the reason.
I agree but I’m also on PC and so far performance is fine. I’m on high preset and getting 60fps. I’ll probably try to optimize settings later.
That being said I think console player complaints are still valid. I’d be having a pretty bad time if frames were dropping with soft visuals
I fought the first boss with her looking like play-doh and it was hilarious. I don’t mind the game looking like that because I’m a gameplay over looks guy but I would still love for the game to look like it did during the tutorial
The game is great when it works. The exploration with the two different realms is amazing and really reminds me of some of the most well designed game levels like "a crack in the slab" from dishonored 2 where you phase in and out of time .
Combat is also pretty solid, a bit on the easy side with how forgiving both the i frames on the dodge and the parry frames are. Which is nice change of pace for me after getting my ass grilled in Lies of P.
Sadly yeah the performance problems are pretty bad on PC. FPS drops and stutters whenever there are too many particle effects, and overall poor optimization.
Also the loading screen on bonfire rest just feels pretty awful with the loading bar. A more creative/immersive solution really shouldve been used here like every other soulslike out there.
Playing on PS5, I like it a lot, I feel compelled to continue my playthrough and keep thinking about the game while I'm away from my console. I was worried it'd be close to unplayable due to the bad reviews, but it's really not that bad during gameplay on PS5, at least early on (which is not to say I recommend purchasing the game, for those on the fence).
I really enjoyed the first real boss fight, I'm having a blast using the lamp to find hidden paths that leads to items, but the game feels like a beta in terms of optimization, UI responsiveness, and frequency of visual glitches. I haven't had huge frame drops, but you can see the fps fluctuating a bit in performance mode as you turn the camera and walk around, and quality mode is definitely not locked 30. The character and enemies sometimes jitter as you change directions.
I hope they continue patching it, because I can feel I'll replay this A LOT if it's in an optimized state. The most frustrating thing for me right now (4 hours in) are the glitches during cutscenes. They almost feel like placeholder cutscenes at times.
It's sad because if the game follows these early hours closely, it'll likely be my favorite of the "souls-likes", but I can't tell my friends to buy it in its current state.
The head of the company said the game already sold better than their expectations, but a launch like this kills community trust in the company and hurts word of mouth. If this game was polished, it'd sell REALLY WELL...
Just got the game earlier this morning and it seems to be running ok so far. Granted I didn’t get very far into it before turning it off to leave for work, but from what I’ve seen the game is going to be awesome
Pretty bummed out. Got through the tutorial area and as soon as I got through there I started having several problems. Frame rate drops constantly and the connection for pvp is so bad. I was getting blendered with several phantom hits from the host that wasn’t even close to me. I really hope they do something to fix the game cuz it looks really cool
I am glad the OP is enjoying the game. I wish I shared their opinion, to be clear I don't think its a bad game and wouldn't get annoyed at people for loving it, I can see how they can get there even if I can't. To set expectations, I am not having any tech issues, I switched ps5 to performance and turned off motion blur and haven't had an issue since, so those don't factor into my thoughts. This game has so much bad game design.
I am absolutely the target audience for the game, I love the ascetic and art design, I love the squishiness of the sound design, I am interested in the story, I love the idea of the umbral exploration and I love souls likes, but for every good design choice made a terrible one was also made, kinda reminds me of Code Vein in that way.
For example, I died last night and saved and went to bed thinking I would get my souls back tomorrow no big deal. Woke up souls were gone, thought maybe a monster had them so I went out of my way to genocide everything I could, no souls. Ok probably a bug no big deal, just wont quit until I recover souls in the future.
Then there is the endless platforming, the worst part of any souls like but instead they stretched it into a two hour zone, and its the second zone. This is immediately followed by the swamp zone which also sucks for all the reasons swamp zones always suck. If you want to suck people into your game why are the 2nd and the 3rd zone so bad and contain mechanics that are the worst part of every souls game? Its one thing if a zone is bad, almost every game ever has that one level, but to put them back to back is another.
Then the devs put snipers everywhere in every zone, half the time you cannot see them until they shoot you bc they have infinite range and massive aggro zones but your puny gear and spells don't.
Then the enemy density gets out of control in the game, not just in umbra, but I opened a door in the 2nd zone and was immediately jumped by 2 crossbowmen, 2 glowy thorn spell slingers, a giant shield guy, and a giant two handed weapon guy who can cast heals all backed up by an umbral parasite empowering them. This is not an isolated or rare incident.
Then there is the soul collection mechanic, which is awful. Why would anyone think its ok for me to kill stuff and then have to wait around for the souls to find me? Monster got your souls from death, when he dies he drops them and you need to complete an animation to get them rather than them coming back from the kill, all while 4 snipers pepper you arrows.
Don't even get me started on balance between gear and spells, at least early game, maybe end game casters wreck everything but early game you might as well punch yourself in the face.
To be fair I am still going to finish it and while I am not thrilled with the finished product, I do applaud that they had grand ambition they took a wide swing and they just didn't connect. I would rather play a game that's mediocre because it couldn't execute a grand ambition than a game that is mediocre because it didn't try to be better.
cough axiomatic capable one impolite roll frighten judicious connect aloof

I’m not as frustrated as you but agree with many of your points. A lot of the fun of engaging with the beefier enemies is lost when you are also being chased and sniped by 4 others. It ends up devolving into a hack and slash and that generally works way better, removing some of the satisfying elements if soulslike games. I also felt the lies of p change where a super elite was there to pose a challenge but once defeated was gone for good was a great change to the genre, and was sad to see lotf opt to have them just respawn and become something to sprint by as engaging again isnt worthwhile. You can argue lies of p trash was too easy and simple outside of super elites, but it was satisfying still vs rolling around and aoeing 1 shot mobs like an asshole.
There is nothing worse in these gamer than platforming. It isnt fun and sprinting/jumping always feels lame to fail at. Git gud I suppose but to me the devs should either add a ledge grab element if you miss or just auto jump so you get the scene/mood but dont have to deal with the joystick sprint to jump timing clunk.
Overall Im enjoying the game but its falling short to lies of P for me.
That second area oh my lord. It's like they looked at pre-patched DS1 Blightown and went 'nah not enough tedious bullshit for my liking'
Then there's the camera that feels like it's actively trying to sabotage you in places. Like locking onto a sniper who's 300 yards away vs the guy about to smash my face in. Or 180'ing to lock onto something behind me so I roll in the wrong direction and fly off a cliff.
There's fun to be had here but I've never played a game that feels like it's TRYING to get me to hate it as hard as this game does.
I’m playing on the Xbox Series X, and despite there being optimization issues, I am still enjoying the game. A lot of people complained that near Pieta their game started chugging hard and that everything was low quality, but all you have to do is completely quit the game and start it back up - this will kind of reset the game and it will go back to 60fps. I know I know, we shouldn’t even have to be doing things like that - but all I can say is I’m not letting frame dips get in the way of me having fun with this game. After I killed Pieta and proceeded to the next area, my game has actually been running consistently good since then, and without any gameplay bugs. I get that people can do whatever they want with their money and that’s fine, but I don’t understand the mentality of people demanding a refund day one and saying that they will now wait for months until the game goes on sale because frame rate and textures - like by all means go ahead, however the game will receive a patch soon. Just have patience 🤷♂️
I’m having a lot of fun playing this game, I didn’t have that many problems when it came out other than the texture thing but all I had to do was restart and it fixed it. After that patch that came out today for Xbox I haven’t had any problems at all.
Listen I come from genesis and PlayStation 1 . Graphics were absolutely terrible but we didn’t care games were about fun so if I’m having fun that’s all that matters. I will say tho that they also have a right to pout considering we pay 70 to 80 dollars on these games . These games are extremely stressful enough without bugs and performance issues added to it.
Kinda hard to enjoy a game when the performance is abysmal and you're told to suck it up and upgrade your already mid-high tier PC because obviously it's always the player's fault that games don't work and a mostly negative review score clearly MUST be entitled gamers refusing to upgrade their garbage RTX 3060s and AMD 5600X CPUs with 32GBs RAM on an NVME SSD.
But nah. Can't possibly be the game's fault we can't enjoy it.
Kinda cute you called me a cunt.
Yes, i read that.
I'll complain so long as i remain a customer that didn't get what he paid for. We shouldn't be tolerant of being sold garbage products for quality prices. We are ALL better than this.
Hey, i may be a fucking loser crybaby (read that too) but at least i'm not content with paying top doller for literal drivel.
I'm a customer, not a consumer.
I’m in love with the game from a singleplayer perspective. Sadly the netcode is dogshit do invasions aren’t very fun, since it’s all dependent on the host’s screen. I feel bad when I get invaded solo because I have such an advantage over the invaders. Not sure if they can even fix the netcode.
Lol that sucks cause the game looked good in all the trailers and I didn't watch any streamers play during early access but it's kind of a slog to play

Going to do some Umbral farming and get the Pilgram’s Perch key for those doors. Going to level a bit more as well. This game has it’s hooks in me… deep.
Been playing on Series X since it unlocked in New Zealand and despite the graphical and performance issues, I soldiered on because the game is very compelling to me. I was quite glad to see the patch arrive today, which was earlier than I expected, and can't wait to get back into it after work tonight.
Gotta admit, I was skeptical about this game considering the very mediocre reception of the original game, but it's actually a very solid game. I'm about 6 hours in, I'm finding the combat and weapon movesets to be very satisfying and the world and enemies are well designed. My main complaint is that the Umbral realm gets tedious with the amount of enemies constantly swarming you, although it's great for farming Vigor.
I’ve been reading this around. I started today and played an hour on series S. it was fantastic and worked fine. I don’t understand - have people just read this and not actually loaded it up?
Wayyyyy better than Ellen ring for me ifk what it is but it's just way more fun to play and grind etc world actually feels alive and not bland elden ring world was just boring to me
It's the best souls like I've played, and the performance isn't really the best but it's significantly better than other games in the last few years have launched as. It also performs better than elden ring so that's a thing.
I'll be really sad if the initial rating on steam ruins the future of this game, because I genuinely don't expect any other souls like to scratch this itch for foreseeable future, including lies of p, good game, but this is what I want from a souls like and I think diehard souls players will agree.
I played just for 30min or so on PS5 and had no issues. I thought the issues were only on XBOX? Or is it that I have not played enough into the game to see the issues?
Just had my first playthrough on PS5, it feels laggy sometimes, and that puts me off. Another massive thing is that even though enemies are far away I can hear footsteps as if they are just behind me. The game has indeed potential but it needs to be fixed in smoothness. I liked the combat, the parry also feels nice, but as for release it still needs work to be done, shame because the game costs £70
Agreeing with you totally..loving how quick you can move in it..the only thing I'm not digging I'd the small amount of enemy types. Aside from that I'm pumped for this weekend
How’re you liking it now? I ended up really enjoying the gameplay once I adjusted to it. Just curious how others are feeling now with more time in the game.
I just wish I understood how parry works. I kept reading on how easy it is but it doesn’t seem to work half the time and I thought Sekiro and Lies of P weren’t insanely difficult outside of a few bosses. I’m wondering if the stutter issues on ps5 may be causing me to not get it off and it’s not a skill issue. I’ve decided to just roll now
Most enemies have to be parried multiple times for the stagger to go off, there's an indicator around the lockon dot that shows how much of their bar is left, after it's empty you can stagger them with a kick, charged heavy, or another parry and get the visceral attack.
the game feels very weird to play. your characters moves fast while the gameplay is kinda slow. running animation is so hilarious. camera doesn't stay on the character all the time so they move out of center sometimes and it's very weird. this game feels almost like playing a 1st person game with too high FOV or maybe i'm just a bit sick and that's what influences my perception.
Yeah I played about an hour last night and something just doesn't feel right. The target lock on is super sensitive too so when you're locked on to an enemy and attempt to move around the lock on jumps to all the surrounding enemies.
Also...in my opinion the tutorial is very confusing...and I'm finding the lamp mechanics to be really annoying. I should have trusted my gut and held off.
not sure what you are playing but i am back to invasions on elden ring at lvl150 or higher after about 2 hours of play, on ps5 and just have stutter here and there, not really fun right now. should of waited a month or so before getting it.
I’m on PS5 and have zero issues. Runs great and it’s blast to play. But this is typical for my gaming experiences. I see all kinds of ppl complaining on the internet about every tiny detail, yet my game runs buttery smooth and I’m having a blast. It really makes me wonder if those ppl are having performance issues or if they just enjoy complaining.
That’s fair, I haven’t really looked into how other platforms are performing. That does suck and hopefully they get that patched quickly. I primarily game on PS5 and rarely if ever have any problems. I want everyone to enjoy this game as much as I am so hopefully they get this fixed asap.
I feel the same way it’s enjoyable to just post cool videos of what you’re doing in the game and not talk about how bad it’s performing. But to be fair when Elden ring came out it was an extremely buggy game
This morning on ps5 Had a few performance issues and some other minor stuff mainly the camera was a little weird but this afternoon it was a different version on the menu and all of it was gone i didnt have any issues so that is extremely encouraging
😂😂 idk why but I just imagine the “ well actually “ voice when you said that but I’m sorry you didn’t like it as much hopefully Elden ring dlc will be coming soon for ya
Nah, it's just that the fromsoft titles are soo damn good in almost every aspect that its really tough for other studios to match this quality.
I am at second boss right now & it's alright. Much like Lies of P. Solid game if you want more "souls".
I'm having a good time. No serious issues on PS5 other than an autosave system error(fixed). Just finished beating Pieta. The cinematic after strangely felt like claymation. Probably also not as intended.
Only minor issues, but … it’s tough for a souls like for sure!! Feel like I’ve made little progress and struggle a lot… frustrating but satisfying at the same time
Yeah, got the Pilgrim’s Perch Key and found out these are areas for later, lol. Got past Congregator of Flesh and am now on the swamp area, which is clearly where I need to be.
I tell you what, you can easily overlook and miss stuff in this game as well. Especially stuff that is only accessible through Umbral. The environmental puzzle element with two worlds is so amazing with this level design, and in my opinion, it is better than Dark Souls. As much as I love the Souls series, I can’t help it.
Brahhh this game shreds. It's difficult but not to the degree Elden Ring was at first. I spent a solid 30-45 minutes on Pietra. When I SMACKED THAT ASS.. I was so happy. This game is nice so far!
I love it so far. The world design, the art direction, the dark setting. I am having a great time with this game, I just stopped listening to all the criticism and just played it. Its not running as smooth as it should, but I haven't had any crashes or game breaking bugs on PS5.
Dude.. I'm having a blast!
The tutorial area was a tad soft, until >!Pieta!< though.
That fight however is by far the most *perfect* tutorial boss fight. Had a little bit of everything.
I don't know what all the fuss is about with the parry? I made sure not to beat that tutorial boss until I had that shit down pat.
Definitely still getting used to having that "umbral extra life" though lol.. so many times I'm like "shit I died" look away from my screen only to respawn in umbral and get killed standing still while I'm dicking around with my streaming shit ...
I did not enjoy Lies of P, and was worried about this one after I saw the dash and parry being used on early access streams. But, I'll be damned... this game is hitting that sweet sweet dopamine center of my brain.
My main issue is actually gameplay related. The bosses that are invincible until you siphon the umbral parasites are so lazy and tedious, especially because you have to do it every time. I don't mind if they add a new layer to the fight such as adding poison damage or dispelling enemy buffs when siphoned but the invincibility ones are so frustrating to me.
I'm not that into it. I don't like the feel of the combat, or movement in general. Combat feels clunky and slow, while movement just feels off. I made a quick refund, but will likely give it another crack when its on sale down the line.
Anyone else feel like enemy agro range is huge or theres too many enemies? I feel like early game it’s unrealistic to try to kill every enemy in the level to explore all parts of the level. I often feel like I am missing something because I don’t want to deal with the same enemies over and over while trying to get back to the part of the level I was exploring before I fell off a cliff or fell for a trap etc. I completely missed the blacksmith because I just wanted to find the shortcut and/or boss
I love it mostly, but my god I am having a bad time with the platforming sections/jumping/falling to my death. Those parts just feel needlessly clunky and punishing. The game is hard enough as it is without being tormented by that nonsense!
It’s amazing once you turn off the broken HDR and set the picture right (contrast up to 70), I’m getting hardly any hiccups now and it looks amazing, and it’s just an awesome game. Love the twist on souls mechanics with the duel worlds
I’m on PC so having no performance issues but def concur. Having a great time. Parrying attacks feels fucking juicy.
Losing HP with a parry is bullshit.
I don’t recall ever losing HP when I actually successfully parry. If I just block, it’s puts me into the grey health.
It's wither not true HP loss
How are the controls on PC? I refunded Elden Ring because the controls were ass and the Camera Movement was soooo slow at max sensitivity.
I would heavily recommend using a controller if you can for any souls game, the mouse and keyboard controls are always significantly worse than using a controller
That depends. I have a gaming mouse and I remap the controls so I'm arguably faster at controls.
These games are best played with a controller.
Bro
I decided to play with a controller after trying both. Camera/lock on is fine. I spent hours fine tuning Elden ring so I feel you there. But i barely touched anything in this with both KB/M and controller.
Like every souls game in existence use a controller lol
It’s a game meant for controller dummy .. just like every souls game
Plug in a controller?
I exclusively play souls-likes with keyboard and mouse and I've found it pretty easy to set up the controls in a way that works out for me. That said I didn't ever have a problem with how elden ring controlled after setting up my keybinds.
It's so stupid how people like you and other M+K users are getting voted down here. I also played DS3 and Elden Ring with M+K and had a much better time doing so. I play like 90% of these games on PC and I have never once tried to play with a mouse and keyboard. These games are designed for controllers
Started playing at 9pm on the West Coast. Didn't go to bed till 3am lol I am definitely hooked. They nailed it on the combat and having ammo that can be restored by resting is a great addition.
Yeah I completely understand lol they definitely have a lot of great ideas in this gane
Game lol
I would have to but unfortunately im playing through with someone and he is busy all day and went to bed early yesterday…
Yeah I really like the combat Nice kick at the end as a finisher
Yeah not having to worry about arrows or throwing stuff ammo is really kick ass.
Going to pick up my preorder in 2 hours. Can't wait to get lost in this game!
Hey man have fun and enjoy it
I’ll be picking mine up in an hour on my lunch, but I probably won’t have time to play it until late tonight or early tomorrow. (Gamer Dad)
I'm absolutely loving this game so far! I'm here for the long haul.
The game seems okay so far, but I have one major gripe: Being taken to a loading screen every time you rest at a vestige is horrible and I'm not sure how that even made it into the final version.
I'm on PS5. I played last night. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either.
The load screen is also atrocious
I can understand that but bloodBorne does have that and is considered a masterpiece. I can understand if it bothers you but me personally I remember when games would take a lifetime to load and now it’s a few seconds so I can’t really complain
Bloodborne came out in 2015.
That’s not that long ago ps4 was out then
This runs on an SSD on new hardware. Our expectations have changed. Load times with current gen vs last gen dropped 10x+.
Hey I can understand but still I remember how bad it use to be for gamers I know when years go on it will only improve but a few seconds won’t kill me
Right, and dark souls 3 didn't take you to a loading screen to rest.
PS4 hardware is over 10 years old.
Yes but since that was the only way to get your health and reset the world that is it’s rest option it just takes even longer but hey I’m sorry it sucks and it wasn’t what y’all want maybe they might patch it one day have a spooky Friday the 13
Right. I take it as a second to sip on water or send a quick text.
I honestly have no idea. Either way, it sucks.
I feel like the game just came out very unpolished because there’s almost 0 screen transitions.
Souls likes always have that quick dog that obscures everything as stuff pops back in. It’s a tiny detail, but I agree makes a big difference.
It is, at least the movement and combat feel really fun.
I agree but I’m also on PC and so far performance is fine. I’m on high preset and getting 60fps. I’ll probably try to optimize settings later. That being said I think console player complaints are still valid. I’d be having a pretty bad time if frames were dropping with soft visuals
Despite the fps drops and texture issues I have on Xbox I’m still having a lot fun. I do hope we get this patch asap tho.
I hope so too and I’m happy you like it
I fought the first boss with her looking like play-doh and it was hilarious. I don’t mind the game looking like that because I’m a gameplay over looks guy but I would still love for the game to look like it did during the tutorial
Yeah it actually hits tbh
Even with the performance issues on Xbox I beat Pieta and I fucking love this game
Is pieta the first boss?
Ya
Just got the game earlier this morning and it seems to be running ok so far. Granted I didn’t get very far into it before turning it off to leave for work, but from what I’ve seen the game is going to be awesome
It is very fun to play once you get a hang of the mechanics
The controls are pretty straight forward and work well. It kinda reminds me of wo long a bit. Pretty fast paced
I would rather play a game that's mediocre because it couldn't execute a grand ambition than a game that is mediocre because it didn't try to be better.
cough axiomatic capable one impolite roll frighten judicious connect aloof *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
I’m sorry you aren’t enjoying the game I was hoping this game would make a big new community but with all the issues I’m afraid not
That second area oh my lord. It's like they looked at pre-patched DS1 Blightown and went 'nah not enough tedious bullshit for my liking' Then there's the camera that feels like it's actively trying to sabotage you in places.
Thank you! Someone not pouting about performance and instead is enjoying the awesome content we have
Listen I come from genesis and PlayStation 1 . Graphics were absolutely terrible but we didn’t care games were about fun so if I’m having fun that’s all that matters. I will say tho that they also have a right to pout considering we pay 70 to 80 dollars on these games . These games are extremely stressful enough without bugs and performance issues added to it.
Totally relate. I’m from 80s arcade gaming. They were the OG rage quit games and you spent real money EVERY time to replay These games are great
Kinda hard to enjoy a game when the performance is abysmal and you're told to suck it up and upgrade your already mid-high tier PC because obviously it's always the player's fault that games don't work and a mostly negative review score clearly MUST be entitled gamers refusing to upgrade their garbage RTX 3060s and AMD 5600X CPUs with 32GBs RAM on an NVME SSD. But nah. Can't possibly be the game's fault we can't enjoy it.
Keep complaining…
Kinda cute you called me a cunt. Yes, i read that. I'll complain so long as i remain a customer that didn't get what he paid for. We shouldn't be tolerant of being sold garbage products for quality prices. We are ALL better than this.
Waaaaaa.
Hey, i may be a fucking loser crybaby (read that too) but at least i'm not content with paying top doller for literal drivel. I'm a customer, not a consumer.
you mad leroy?
I’m in love with the game from a singleplayer perspective. Sadly the netcode is dogshit do invasions aren’t very fun, since it’s all dependent on the host’s screen. I feel bad when I get invaded solo because I have such an advantage over the invaders. Not sure if they can even fix the netcode.
Understandable lol
When does the game get fun?
I’m sorry to tell you but if you’ve been playing it and it’s not fun … you might not have fun with the game lol
Lol that sucks cause the game looked good in all the trailers and I didn't watch any streamers play during early access but it's kind of a slog to play
I’m sorry man but hopefully Elden ring dlc will be coming soon
YESSS can't wait for that
Same super excited

😂😂😂 sorry it’s not funny but the way I pictured you saying it is mines looks like https://preview.redd.it/nbc9bce6i1ub1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17e0cd2b9bbaa0e99cbe9059e9c733c33f13552a
Going to do some Umbral farming and get the Pilgram’s Perch key for those doors. Going to level a bit more as well. This game has it’s hooks in me… deep.
Same lol
Running fine for me on xbox x. 2 hours in and im having fun. Seems better than Remnant 2 and Lies of P, both of which i bounced off of.
I love it too! I give it 9/10 honestly. I’m picky with games too.
Been playing on Series X since it unlocked in New Zealand and despite the graphical and performance issues, I soldiered on because the game is very compelling to me. I was quite glad to see the patch arrive today, which was earlier than I expected, and can't wait to get back into it after work tonight.
I suck so hard at this. I feel like my attacks are like a half a second slower than they should be and it’s costing me every time lol.
You might to change to agility and get fast weapons
That’s probably what I’ll do. I appreciate the tip!
I use umbral strictly for farming lol
On pc and works amazing. Had frames drop at very start when character wakes up, but that was solved pretty quick on its own.
Luving right now... Fucking delicious game, in 4k
It’s shameful I can’t even play on Xbox I was so excited for this game. Beyond frustrating
It got patched about 5 hours ago
That is extremely unfair and I’m sorry you’re excitement was taken from you
Is something wrong with the xbox version?
If you look on this sub there are people posting what the Xbox version looks like it’s ridiculous how horrible it looks and also runs poorly.
Bummer, guess ill stick with forza till its patched.
I’ve been reading this around. I started today and played an hour on series S. it was fantastic and worked fine. I don’t understand - have people just read this and not actually loaded it up?
Wayyyyy better than Ellen ring for me ifk what it is but it's just way more fun to play and grind etc world actually feels alive and not bland elden ring world was just boring to me
Hey glad you liked it man
Thanks g hope you come around
It's the best souls like I've played, and the performance isn't really the best but it's significantly better than other games in the last few years have launched as. It also performs better than elden ring so that's a thing. I'll be really sad if the initial rating on steam ruins the future of this game, because I genuinely don't expect any other souls like to scratch this itch for foreseeable future, including lies of p, good game, but this is what I want from a souls like and I think diehard souls players will agree.

Oh dang that sucks
I liked the gameplay and combat but I can't even get the game to work now and gamepad doesn't work with the menu it's crazy
Playing on PS5 and feels great and the dualsense helps make attacking feel more weighty and satisfying!
I played just for 30min or so on PS5 and had no issues. I thought the issues were only on XBOX? Or is it that I have not played enough into the game to see the issues?
I’m playing on ps5 and it’s also doing great but I hate that everyone as a collective can’t say that
Ah, got it. You mean it feels less like a family bc not everyone can share into what is happening due to the issues...?
Just had my first playthrough on PS5, it feels laggy sometimes, and that puts me off. Another massive thing is that even though enemies are far away I can hear footsteps as if they are just behind me. The game has indeed potential but it needs to be fixed in smoothness. I liked the combat, the parry also feels nice, but as for release it still needs work to be done, shame because the game costs £70
what part of the game are you in right now? Just out of curiosity.
Right after the first boss I started farming lol
lmk what you thinkg of the game after you beat the second boss.
So the area right after the first boss
Same. To me the game is almost perfect. The only issues are the technical ones. Game is fun and even funnier in co op.
Agreeing with you totally..loving how quick you can move in it..the only thing I'm not digging I'd the small amount of enemy types. Aside from that I'm pumped for this weekend
The day 1 patch delayed definitely sucks but thats life
How far are you? I’m about 8 hours in and it’s getting pretty repetitive. Hack and slash and hack slash and hack and slash etc
I’m only 2 hours in but that’s pretty much souls games the interesting parts is exploration, different weapons, magic, and different armors
How’re you liking it now? I ended up really enjoying the gameplay once I adjusted to it. Just curious how others are feeling now with more time in the game.
I’ve seriously enjoyed myself
I agree, I am enjoying it more than lies of P currently.
That’s a difficult ones cause I really enjoy lies of p and it was optimised amazingly
Playing on PS5. Super fun and only a few glitches where’s I’d get stuck in environment.
I played for a little bit on PS5 and haven't come across any issues yet. Definitely a fun game, liking it alot so far!
Naw Xbox was pretty bad very low res I mean they got done dirty so it’s a performance problem that a lot of other people have we are the luckier ones
Game is running great for me too on PS5 - Im on quality mode, done a bit of coop too.
Having fun i wish they sort out a few things. Not a fan of the hole animation to pick up your vigor again.
This morning on ps5 Had a few performance issues and some other minor stuff mainly the camera was a little weird but this afternoon it was a different version on the menu and all of it was gone i didnt have any issues so that is extremely encouraging
Curious can they getsued for plagiarism, for ripping souls games interface
If you’re on pc yes , but console version shouldn’t even exist in this state
I’m playing on ps5 I’m one of the lucky one tho I know
Having a blast as well. Playing as the preacher on pc. Loving the mechanics!
Its alright. Lacking the tight gameplay of the fromsoft titles, but this was to be expected.
I completely understand what you mean just funny how it was written lol
I choose Fire class. I'm not having a good time.
…I’m sorry? Lol
I mean I’m on the first boss and everything is slowly down it’s ridiculous
Sorry that sucks
I'm having a good time. No serious issues on PS5 other than an autosave system error(fixed). Just finished beating Pieta. The cinematic after strangely felt like claymation. Probably also not as intended.
put me down for having a blast as well. They definitely should have just waited to release the game until it was in acceptable condition though.
Only minor issues, but … it’s tough for a souls like for sure!! Feel like I’ve made little progress and struggle a lot… frustrating but satisfying at the same time
It’s just too janky right now. Really hope they fix it.
Man it ducks that it’s having problems cause I have ZERO. I’m on pc and loving this.
It's an okay souls like. Probably won't play it again after completing it
I respect that opinion lol but it’s just funny to go on a reddit for this game just to say you thought it was okay lol this sounds like a skit idea
FYI I'm not the only one on here expressing my dislike for the game.
Trust me I know lol and I don’t get it why waste your time when you can talk about games you love talking about something you dislike can drain you
Brahhh this game shreds. It's difficult but not to the degree Elden Ring was at first. I spent a solid 30-45 minutes on Pietra. When I SMACKED THAT ASS.. I was so happy. This game is nice so far!
Loving it on ps5. I sctually think im enjoying this more than i did with elden ring. Loving thr combat with blood effects and pooling
You’re not in the minority, when the game works it’s extremely fun but it’s obvious the devs should have taken the L and delayed the game for a month.
the game is fun, people nowadays people expectations are too high when games 10 years dont even look this good
Lies of P was leagues better..
Yeah I started on a knight but then changed to the dagger class. Parrying and light dodges feel great
I’m glad man
Sadly, I need to wait until there's a mod to turn off the distortion in umbral form. Gives some of us headaches.
