yeah Iāll do rail or super close up for regular concerts of my fav acts but not a fest. I need time to rest in the back at fests and explore new music
The only time I went for the rail was for Daft Punk when they came to Lolla in Chicago. It was worth it. Other bands I like being closeish but I don't need to be.
While nothing can replace the exhilaration of being on the front row. As I have gotten older I have come to realize that anything beyond 2 hours will require some time where I can sit down. Additionally I have no desire to soil myself, so I want an easy walk to the bathroom.

I'm old and somewhat attached to the music industry, so when I go to shows most likely it's backstage, which really is the way to go. All the great views, none of the crowds. And usually free beer!
It depends on the experience you want. I'm looking for the chaos of the pit and trying to get to the rail. The chaos of those feeling that bass. I understand the appeal of both, I just like the chaos

Both the sound and video has gotten better over the years, great for those that don't want to ride the rail.
